Late-Night Board Games!
As their regular customers who knew this cafe very well, Hibiki, Chris, Miku, Kirika, Shirabe, and the Beef Stroganoff trio often go there to ease their minds and have a little fun with other people who enjoyed board games.
"Another game night, prepare yourselves because I won't go easy on you guys and I will make sure y'all eat some dust." Chris cracked her knuckles.
"Don't be too confident, KineChri, we didn't lose a couple times unlike you and Bikki." Kuriyo pointed out.
"This time! I won't lose like the last time." Hibiki assured herself.
"Alright, who's up to take me on?" Yumi said.
"I don't have other things to do tomorrow, so I can play as much as I want." Miku said with a friendly smile.
The newly arrived guests sat on any available seats they could find. Hibiki and Chris sat on one of the available tables, along with a bright, energetic, cream-colored haired Chisato and an long brown haired adult drinker Mizuki, who were the employees of the cafe, they had been quiet for a minute before Mizuki takes out a box of cards from her pocket.
Upon a closer look at the box's packaging, Hibiki and Chris looked at each other, then Chris slowly looked at a smug Mizuki "H-Hey, can we play something else? I hate this game…" Chris tried asking Mizuki, but the latter shook her head and pointed at her "Huh? Are you scared of losing because some of your friends betrayed you?" She mockingly said.
"No way! I'm not!" Chris felt her pride being crushed from Mizuki's words alone and snatched the box when she couldn't take it any longer, and took all the cards out, the Ichaival user immediately shuffled the cards before giving 6 cards for each player.
Once she's finally done preparing, Chris placed the remaining cards on the side of the table, just close enough to allow the players to reach for the cards.
If there is one game she hates…
That is Uno, a card game that is known to make everyone rage when they play it with others. The rules of the game are simple, you have to match the cards either by the number, color, or the symbol/Action, the players must use all their cards until only one person will be declared as the winner if they have no cards left in their hands.
It may be easy but it's not, it requires strategic thinking and quick thinking as there are Action cards that would quickly turn the tide of the game, which is one thing Chris deeply hated in this card game, she had lost many times when she played with her friends despite being intelligent one in her team, because of how some of them managed to make a comeback all of a sudden and ends with her losing the game.
Chris snapped back to reality and began looking at her cards in her hand properly. She had a blue 7, a red 1, yellow 4, green 9, a yellow Reverse card, and a red Skip card "Not too bad…" She quietly muttered as to not give her opponents an advantage "Alright, it's my first turn." Chris placed the red 1 card on the middle of the table.
It's Chisato's turn, she placed a red 3 while still calm and relaxed, yet still giving her energetic presence and ended her turn. For Hibiki's turn, she seems to be in panic and she picks out a random card in a hurry before placing her card on the table, revealing it to be a blue 3.
Now, it's Mizuki's turn. She quickly drew a blue 6 and ended her turn. Chris's heart raced and looked back at her cards. Sadly, she didn't have a match for the card Mizuki previously used and she was forced to draw one card from the pile of cards. Fortunately, Chris got a green 3 and played the card, ending her turn and easing her mind.
Unfazed by this, Chisato quickly drew a red 3 and ended her turn. This made Hibiki panic even further and she desperately drew cards from the deck, only for her to gasp and continue drawing another one, which was quickly useless, leaving Hibiki with no choice but to draw a card one by one five times. Luckily for her, she got a red 8 at her 6th draw and played her card.
"Even in the beginning of the game, I'm cursed…" Hibiki said with her head hung low while Mizuki proudly drew a green 4 "Don't worry, Hibiki, you'll win in Uno next time." Chisato cheered Hibiki up by assuring her, it worked as the latter felt a bit better after this.
"Yeah right, focus on the game you two." Chris said as she placed a yellow 4.
Seeing the card, Hibiki chuckled and scratched her head. "Sorry, Mizuki-san, I have no choice but to do this." She draws a yellow Skip card, which means Mizuki will be forced to skip her turn and allow Chris to take her turn "This isn't fair! Why do I always fall victim to the Skip card?!" Mizuki expressed her frustration.
Wondering why she acted like that, Chris asked to Chisato "Just how many times she fell for that?" The latter giggles "A lot actually, she was given the nickname 'The Skipped' by our regular customers for her frustrations about the Skip cards." Chisato explained.
"I see." Chris takes one card and gets a red Reverse card, she decides to keep it for now and take another one, getting a green 0 before playing the card.
Chisato used a blue 0 without hesitation, then Hibiki used blue 3 because her brain is telling her to do so, and Mizuki used a blue Skip card, much to her Chris' shock "You! You'll pay for what you've done!" Chris slammed the table as Chisato played a Wild card, a card that allows the player using it to pick any random color.
"I'll go with the yellow." Since it was Chisato that made the choice, the other three players agreed and the game continued.
Having a hard time to choose either play the card or take another card, Hibiki was left with no choice but to play a yellow Reverse card, which led Mizuki growling in anger "Why you.." She said,
Now it's her turn, Chisato used a yellow 2 card and ended her turn. For Chris's turn, she decided to pull a Wild Draw Four card, prompting Mizuki to glare at Chris "Y-You…" Mizuki was baffled and took 4 cards and ended her turn.
"This is gonna be very intense." Chris grinned as she prepared to take on her opponents.
5 minutes later
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!" Mizuki scratched her head in frustration as Chris had played her last card, declaring her as the winner "If only I didn't underestimate you…I would've won!" Mizuki wailed in defeat.
"I guess overconfidence got the better of you." Chris commented at her "Regardless, that was a fun game, even though you three act like it's an actual battle."
"To be honest, it would've been more fun if Takina was here but she's out early to do some business outside her job." Chisato's words caught the attention of Hibiki. "Oh, I think I should bring Tsubasa-san and Maria next time."
"Speaking of which, I do remember you said that you personally met Tsubasa before because you and Chris are in the same school." Chisato pointed out.
"Don't get your hopes up when you want two famous idols to be invited to the board games, idol work is quite tough and they need to manage their time to avoid complications." Mizuki reminded them, which Hibiki and Chris agreed with her statement.
"Well, that aside, I wonder what Takina-chan is up to?" Hibiki asked.
Lycoris Bodyguard
"Terrorists, 2 o'clock!" A girl with long black hair shouted as she reloaded her pistol "Got it!" Maria followed what she said and fired a couple shots at the incoming enemies, injuring the two men instantly as both of their legs were shot. These two were battling on an empty street where many bad guys would come.
Nothing beats a day than to prevent any more crimes happening by putting a Lycoris and a SONG member/idol in this situation.
Their task is to disable the bomb that was fitted inside the van they're currently nearby, the terrorists planned to run over either Maria or Tsubasa using the said van and explode to avoid any traces from them.
Unfortunately, these two were tasked to guard Tsubasa for her solo concert and they were quickly alerted, the pair wasted no time taking every single terrorists out with only their pistols and various self-defense weapons.
After taking out almost every terrorists in their sight, Maria and Takina took a break from all the fight and lowered their guns, when suddenly, a man appeared out of nowhere, ready to swing their metal bat to hit his intended target.
Before they take out their guns, he is quickly knocked out instead, the man eventually loses consciousness and falls on the ground, the person responsible is none other than Tsubasa herself, who is wielding a wooden sword.
"Judging from what I witnessed, the van was a decoy to distract Maria and have the other group attack me while you're not around." Tsubasa then stared at Takina "Also, who you might be?"
Takina bowed in front of the blue-haired idol "My name is Takine Inoue, I was sent here to act as a bodyguard for you, Tsubasa Kazanari, it's a pleasure to meet you." She formally introduced herself.
"I see, thank you for providing me your protection but I'm fine for now." Tsubasa exhaled and looked at the van "By the way, is there something inside the van?"
"It's a bomb fitted inside that will trigger remotely by the terrorists, we need to dispose it as soon as possible" Maria explained, then in the corner of her eye, she saw several reinforcements arrived at the location and opened fire with their AK-47s.
The trio take cover behind the van and waited for the terrorists to stop firing, while waiting, Takina quickly reloaded her pistol before taking a little peek to check.
"7 reinforcements, this won't be a problem." Once the terrorists stopped firing, Takina recklessly gets out of her hiding place and fired a couple shots, Maria immediately drags her out before the terrorists fired again.
"That's reckless, you could've got yourself killed!" Maria berated Takina for her recklessness "If we want to take all of them down without getting shot, do not engage. Instead, should we stick with a safer one?"
"Safer one?"
"Just follow my plan."
After 40 seconds, the men stopped firing and looked at each other before nodding their heads. They approached the van to check if their target was still alive. Unfortunately for them, they failed to notice a flashbang being thrown in the air until it was too late, the flashbang detonated and rendered the men temporarily deaf and blinded.
Maria and Takina come out of their cover and shoot the men in both their arms and legs, rendering them disabled, Tsubasa came out after that and watched the men wincing in pain from being shot.
"Should I call a Cleaner to clean up the mess?" Takina asked Maria, the latter shook her head and crossed her arms "No need, our bodyguards will take care of it."
"I understand." Takina puts her pistol back into her backpack, and out of nowhere, she takes out something from her pocket and gave it to the pair, it was a LycoReco Sweets & Cafe business card "Before I leave, take this card and visit the cafe if you have time to spare"
Maria took the card and smiled, "Of course."
Short Conversation between Geniuses
Elfnein was doing her research in her own room as usual, typing the holographic keyboard while her eyes were glued to the screen. She wasn't paying attention for a while until she heard a ringtone coming from one of the screens.
Upon checking, the screen displays a picture of a cartoonish hamster head, prompting her to put a single earphone on her ear and answer the call.
"Good evening, Elfnein, are you still working?" A deep, slightly distorted voice asked the young researcher "I have taken an 8 hour break because Genjuro-san insisted, so don't worry about me, Walnut-san."
"Thank you for telling me, I was about to ask that before calling you." Walnut sighed while Elfnein still types the keyboard "By the way, what are you working on?"
"Finding clues and the remnants of the Bavarian Illuminati to hunt them down before their numbers will increase, not only that, we also have to deal with the illegal distribution of the Alca-Noise as they were scattered all around the world." Elfnein explained what she knew.
"Hmmm, I may be unable to track down the remnants of the Illuminati but I can track down those who illegally distribute the crystals, just give me a moment." Elfnein had no choice but to trust a genius-level hacker, and after a few moments, Walnut cleared his throat to inform her he was done.
To Elfnein's surprise, a world map pops up on her screen and it displays many red dots marked from around the world "Don't tell me, those are…" She stared at the map in shock. "Correct, the red markers represent those who distribute the Alca-Noise crystals." Walnut confirmed it.
"Thank you, I appreciate the little help you provided for us to make the job easier." Elfnein gets up from her chair as she thanks the hacker and puts on a small smile "I will send this immediately to Genjuro-san."
"Wouldn't he get mad if he learns you got this source from me?" Walnut was concerned.
"Genjuro-san has trusted you a bit, don't worry." Elfnein takes all her necessary things and prepares herself to leave the room to relay this information to SONG, and then, she remembered something she nearly forgot and decided to tell Walnut while she's still here.
"Say, Walnut-san, do you mind if we meet each other personally instead of just calls?"
"And what exactly made you want to do that?"
"Because I was curious about what you look like ever since you suddenly called us out of the blue, besides, you're the only person who keeps me company while I'm working and couldn't stop thinking about you ever since."
"Is that so?" It took him a few seconds to finalize his answer "Alright, I accept your request, if you suggest meeting up at LycoReco Sweets & Cafe that is, because it's the only place I'm comfortable with."
Elfnein giggled "Well, actually, that was going to be my first suggestion, so I'm glad you picked that one out."
"Good, I guess it's final or do you still have any suggestions?"
"Not at all, Walnut-san."
"Then, that would be all for today's call, I'll be looking forward to meeting you personally, goodbye Elfnein."
"Goodbye Walnut-san!" She said her goodbye to Walnut before he ended his call.
Once she has finished gathering all the necessary things and uploaded the newfound information to SONG's bridge crew operators, Elfnein immediately leaves the room and walks her way to the command center while still thinking about Walnut.
"I wonder what he looks like in real life?"
Somewhere, in the LycoReco Sweets & Cafe, a young girl with long blonde hair, who is about Elfnein's age, goes downstairs and watches the customers having a fun night playing board games.
Mizuki noticed she was coming and waved her hand "Hey, Kurumi! We're playing Uno with our customers, come join us!" As soon as she heard the word "Uno", the girl named Kurumi rushed her way to Chisato and Mizuki's table "How many games did you four play while I'm not around?" She asked.
"We just finished the first game, it's just that this idiot Mizuki wailed because I won the game." Chris answered her question "Heh, that's what you get for being too confident with your winning streaks." Kurumi's words crushed Mizuki's heart as sat down next to Hibiki.
"Shut it! I will win this time, I demand a rematch!" Mizuki took all the cards and shuffled them before giving away 6 cards for each player.
After she is finished doing her job, Mizuki goes to Kurumi and quietly whispers to her ear "What are you doing up here? I heard you talking inside your own room, who is the person you're talking to?" Kurumi smirked and said "If you beat me in the game, I'll tell you."
"Oh, is this a deal? Ok, I'm taking that!" Mizuki is now fired up.
The female Uno players, including Kurumi, are ready for round two of the game and Mizuki isn't going to lose this time.
Nothing is wrong than crossing both series together to make a perfect dynamic between the cast, shame it still have page limits so I didn't get a chance to expand.
Another reason why I write this prompt is because both Elfnein and Kurumi had the same VAs.
