Since no one wanted to let Trubel know what was in the tea, for fear she wouldn't drink it, Monroe kept the young grimm distracted by a history lesson in the basement of the spice shop while Rosalee and Adalind made the tea in the side room, and Freddy took care of the customers that came in the shop.
"Luckily, we're allowed to put honey in the tea. It should hide any strange taste that will have Trubel asking questions." Adalind commented.
"Knowing Nicky, he'll want just as much honey as you put in Trubel's. My son has always had a sweet tooth." Kelly's smile was infectious as the mother grimm recalled fondly the many times her little boy used his adorable puppy eyes to try to get a cookie or piece of candy, even when dinner was not far away.
She turned to Adalind.
"You're going to have your hands full when you and Nick start having babies."
Adalind let out a nervous laugh and her face flushed a light scarlet. She shot a look at Nick from underneath her eyelashes, to see his reaction to his mother's comment.
To the hexenbiest's surprise, the comment didn't seem to really faze him. And Nick actually replied, "Keep in mind mom, your grandkids will be half grimm, half beister. I doubt that we should expect quiet, obedient children."
"Those kinds of kids don't even exist." Monroe said, walking into the room with Trubel.
Rosalee handed a cup to the twelve year old.
"It might not taste very good, but it's good for you. You need to drink all of it.
Trubel held her nose and swallowed the contents in one go.
Kelly and Nick each took a cup, and did the same.
For a moment, everyone stood and stared at the grimms, waiting for a reaction.
It was only because they were looking that it was noticed; the eyes of every grimm turned fully black, even though none of the wesen had woged.
"That's kind of unnerving." Monroe commented.
"It feels like there's a blanket being wrapped around me." Trubel described. "But my eyes feel like they're being rinsed in cool water. And they feel really wide open."
Nick nodded. "It's like everything is being made stronger, clearer."
The wesen all visibly relaxed when the grimms' eyes went back to normal.
"We might not be in danger of having our abilities taken away, anymore, but there are still a lot of ways someone might try to hurt us."
"My mother is probably our most immediate threat. She's going to do everything she can to get revenge for her powers being taken." Adalind warned.
"Is there a way for a hexenbiest to get their powers back?" Rosalee asked.
"There is, but it's not cheap. I don't know what it is exactly. But I've heard of people in Europe who are experts in all magic. If what you want requires a spell or ritual of some kind, they can help. But the price is pretty heavy."
Nick remembered Adalind admitting to him that she had been willing to sell her half royal baby off in order to get her powers back. It was doubtful that Catherine Schade had that same option. But if she was determined enough, she would find a way.
