Adalind's would be kidnappers may have been locked up in jail, for the time being, but there were still plenty of others that Eric Renard or Catherine Schade could hire to go after the grimm and his family.
There was no doubt in Nick's mind that there would be many more threats to come. His only solace was knowing that Adalind was a powerful hexenbiest who had proven she could look out for herself. And that his friends all had skills to defend themselves should the need arise.
But the fear of losing everyone he loved was still prevalent in Nick's mind. He remembered all too well watching everyone being killed by the zerstorer. He had no desire to see them all ripped from him again. Especially Adalind. He had lost her too many times in the previous timeline. Nick was bound and determined to do everything in his power to never lose her in this one.
Any threat that was headed their way would have to be dealt with when it became known and in their vicinity.
But Nick knew there were other things that could put distance between Adalind and himself. That was why he always made sure Adalind knew that he loved her. That he cherished every moment he got to spend with her.
Whenever the opportunity arose, Nick made love to Adalind, and he always took his time, ensuring that she was always completely satisfied.
Fate allowed Nick to know for certain that he was doing well when it came to Adalind.
Done with paperwork and having no pressing cases to look into, Nick and his partner Hank were able to leave a little early.
With Trubel still getting tutoring lessons from Rosalee, Nick took the free time to surprise Adalind at her place of work.
He took the stairs instead of the elevator to the floor where her office was. The door leading from the stairwell to the office area was propped open, being cleaned, allowing Nick to enter without being heard by the women who were standing at a desk, gossiping.
"He makes love to me in the middle of the night." Nick overheard Adalind tell her coworkers with delight. "Last night, he must have heard something because I woke up and he wasn't there. I got up and found him looking out of a window. Everything was fine so we returned to bed. I thought we would just go right back to sleep, but he took me in his arms and kissed me. It was so deep and passionate." Adalind gave a breathy moan. "I swear, that man always knows how to set me on fire."
"Who would have thought a grimm would be so affectionate? Especially with a hexenbiest." One female coworker said.
"Adalind, you have got to be the luckiest witch on the planet. If I were you, I would be casting a few spells to ensure no other would be able to get their claws in him."
"I was tempted. But Nick isn't the cheating type."
"Did Nick tell you that?"
"No, actually, Sean Renard did. He said Nick was the type to put down roots. That he would want to get married and have babies. Renard didn't think that was something I would be interested in. And then, when he realized that I liked the idea of being Nick's wife and mother to his children, Sean wanted me to use my position in Nick's life to control him and convince him to help Sean gain power."
"He may be hot, but your ex can be a real jackass."
"Don't I know it."
Nick allowed his presence to be known. He walked up to Adalind, cupped her face and pressed his lips to hers.
A chorus of "Awe" came from Adalind's coworkers.
When he pulled away, he saw Adalind's eyes gazing adoringly at him, and he was pretty sure his eyes reflected the same.
"If you ladies don't mind, I need to steal Adalind away."
Wrapping his arm around her and grabbing her briefcase with the other hand, Nick guided Adalind to his car.
Once they were inside, he leaned across the divide, pulled her to him and kissed her much more passionately than he had in front of her friends.
"Take us somewhere a lot more private, grimm. That kiss makes me want to do a lot more things with you."
With a sly grin, he drove them to the trailer.
Grimm
As much as Nick would love to spend his every moment making love to Adalind, there were still a lot of monsters to be slain and people to be rescued.
Because Hank knew about wesen early on, when his friend Jarold, whose daughter Carly was Hank's goddaughter, came to the precinct worried about the safely of the girl, Nick was able to tell him that Jarold was a cayotle, and that the threat involved savage coyote wesen and a sick ritual.
Hank took Jarold into an interview room, where Nick was standing in the far corner, and then told his lifelong friend that Nick was a grimm.
Jarold was shocked to find out Hank's partner was a grimm, even more so when that grimm actually insisted on protecting the wesen girl. He had to sit down when Nick said, "I believe I can talk my hexenbiest girlfriend into helping us."
Grimm
"They want to take her to perform a ceremony." Nick explained.
Adalind became so angry she woged. "I know all about it. It's disgusting and was outlawed by the wesen council a century ago. Only male cayotles still want to keep that tradition. Males who only see women as inferior."
"I take it you would be interested in teaching these stone age minded men a lesson?"
"You got that right."
Nick called Rosalee and asked if she could look after Trubel for a while. With the Royals posing a threat to his family, Nick didn't want to leave the child alone, even though she was legally old enough to be left by herself.
"But I want to help, Nick." Trubel insisted adamantly. "I'm a grimm. It's what I'm supposed to do."
"I promise that you will get to help, but not now. You're still young. You're strong, and fast, but not as strong and fast as the adult wesen we're dealing with. After you've had more training, I promise we'll hunt together. And eventually you'll go on your own." Nick assured his young protégé.
Grimm
The coyotles laughed when they saw the vehicle pull in. They saw no threat as the two detectives and a pretty blonde got out of the SUV.
Nick had Jarold woge for Hank, so the older detective wouldn't be caught off guard when the cayotles inevitably woged.
Nick had no doubt that the wesen would do everything to intimidate the officers. Not just to gain the upper hand but also because they enjoyed inflicting pain and fear.
Sure enough, once Carly was found and taken to the shelter of the barn, all of the cayotles woged, believing it would scare the trio. But it was the cayotles that filled with terror when they realized they were dealing with a grimm and a hexenbiest.
Nick focused on their leader, Hayden Walker.
The fear in his eyes told Nick that he was regretting taking the girl. He may have kept far away had he known she was under the protection of a grimm.
The entire gang was arrested. Nick and Hank bound the wrists of all of the men behind their backs with zip ties, and then called in a bus to transport them to holding.
As soon as Hank left to call it in and Carly and her father were outside the barn, Nick noticed Adalind woge and felt through their bond her using his strength to help her concentrate.
Suddenly, all of the cayotles cried out in pain, doubling over in agony.
Adalind lifted her head with a smug smile on her face and strutted out of the barn.
Grimm
"So it turns out hexenbiest know how to render men impotent." Nick announced to the group in the spice shop, telling them all what happened with the coyote wesen abductors.
"Those boys will never be able to force themselves on another girl again." Adalind proudly confirmed.
"Boy am I glad that you're on our side." Monroe quipped lightly.
"Me too." Nick said, putting his arm around her.
The more things that happened, the more he was grateful for the second chance and the more he was determined to never let anything take the woman he loved from him.
