The moment the eisbiber community found out about the engagement (Nick was certain it was Monroe who blabbed to Bud Worstner) there were several dozen baskets of goodies arriving at the Grimm/Hexenbiest home.

Every single female eisbiber was very vocal about helping with any planning. And the lodge was offered up free of charge as a venue, with the promise of a massive banquet for the reception.

Neither Nick or Adalind were religious, so a church wedding didn't seem right for them. In fact, both could honestly admit that they saw themselves having an outdoor wedding.

While Nick and Adalind were planning their wedding, others were planning something much more ominous for the Grimm and his family.

Thanks to an informant he had living in Portland and paying attention to the goings on of both Nick Burkhardt and Sean Renard, Eric Renard found out about the engagement. And he took a sick and twisted pleasure in telling Catherine Schade about it.

If she had her powers back, there was no doubt Catherine would have used them to destroy every object in the room. As it were, all she could do was scream in immense rage.

Catherine decided that she would use her daughter to get her powers back. Adalind had proven she was a betrayer to her kind, so that meant her life was forfeit. So Catherine felt she was entitled to her daughter's hexenbiest.

She demanded that Eric Renard help her in her task, as payment for giving him information on the Portland grimm.

Eric Renard did not like anyone, let alone a hexenbiest telling him what to do. Catherine Schade was only useful to him as a source of information on his illegitimate brother and the grimm. And she barely knew anything about the grimm, having never really bothered to get to know the man her daughter had chosen.

The one thing that was certain was that the grimm loved his hexenbiest very much. Eric believed he could use that to his advantage.

He would prefer to have Nick Burkhardt as an ally. Or at least, willing to work with him. A grimm working for the royal's could ensure that many wesen who would desire to rebel would reconsider.

He hoped to entice the grimm to the side of the royal family by offering luxuries he could give to his hexenbiest.

Nick and Adalind were fully aware of the threats to their family. But they refused to allow anything to keep them from pursuing a happy life. They remained always vigilant, taking into account any potential risks, but they still always focused on the good things that surrounded them.

So when Adalind admitted she had always dreamed of an outdoor wedding with lots of flowers, Nick was determined to make that happen.

Wesen working for the royals witnessed the grimm giving into his hexenbiest's every demand. And being kind and courteous to all of the wesen vendors he was hiring for his wedding.

When his spies reported back to him about the grimm catering to his hexenbiest's every whim, Eric Renard realized that Nick Burkhardt had too much heart to be an asset to the Royals. He didn't value wealth or power, so there was nothing Eric could use to entice him. The only way to ensure the monster wesen would fear, was to turn him into one.

Nick knew what was happening almost right away, and he wondered how he was going to explain it. He could claim to have read about the cracher de mortel in one of his grimm journals, but how would he explain about knowing about a potential cure.

Thankfully, the moment he mentioned the cracher de mortel, Adalind knew exactly what they were dealing with and how to stop it.

Adalind suspected it was her mother who gave The Royals the idea on what to use to cause chaos in Portland.

"My mother was fascinated by any wesen with the ability to control others. She researched a number of wesen. When I was a teen, I saw all of the information she had gathered, including the cures to whatever toxin the wesen used."

Sometimes, no matter how prepared a person might be, the thing they were trying to prevent still happens.

Luckily for Nick, he had a hexenbiest who he shared a powerful bond with, and who could prevent him from harming anybody.

The group located Nick quickly, in thanks to Adalind.

Through their bond, Adalind sensed Nick's confusion and pain. She focused on reaching him, soothing the torment he was in.

"It's alright, baby." Adalind said softly. Nick, even in a primal state, was so in love with Adalind he would follow her anywhere.

Adalind lead Nick to a barn, using her magic to close the door and seal it shut. She didn't want anyone walking in and getting hurt.

Through their bond, Adalind sensed that Nick would become even more possessive of her in the state he was in.

Adalind seduced Nick and was able to keep him distracted to administer the antidote.

When Catherine Schade found out the royals had failed to capture the grimm, her scream of rage was heard throughout the entire palace.
