A/N: It's been two months, and I'm sorry. I was busy. Very busy with school. I will definitely try and get this story finished by the end of this year though. That's the goal, and hopefully I can make it. I'm not sure if you can tell, but Maddie is my least favorite person to write. Anyway, hope you enjoy the chapter!
Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom
Defeated Ch.7: The Marriage
Danny glared at the ground as he had his knees pulled up to his chest. Vlad had implanted the device that let him control the young halfa in the base of his spine. It was nearly impossible to get it out at this point, unless another ghost pulled it out. He let out a heavy breath as Vlad entered the room, talking to a suit tailor.
"I am positive I will be satisfied with it," Vlad stated as he eyed the boy who was sitting on the ground of the main lobby of the bridal store. Vlad had brought him along and they had been at this for nearly two hours. Danny didn't mind as long as the man left him alone, didn't engage in conversation, and went off to his own devices.
"Mr. Masters," the suit tailor stated in a nervous tone as he was scared to address the ruler of Earth. "What about your son?" He asked as he also looked at the teen who was glaring a hole through the floor.
Danny, who was being addressed as Vlad's son let out a growl as his eyes turned green, scaring the suit tailor as he took a step back. Vlad bent down and brought a hand to the boy's chin, forcing him to look up at him, "Daniel will, of course, have an identical suit to mine," he stated as he glanced over at the suit tailor for a minute. His hand was forcefully wrenched from the teen's chin as Danny swatted his hand away.
The young halfa looked up at the suit tailor as he tilted his head, "You have a suit in bright green?" He asked, trying to get on the Vlad's nerves.
"Uh…" The suit tailor trailed as he glanced at the boy and then at Vlad, who stood up and merely grinned down at the boy, "We do have…A green fifty-six model…" He trailed slowly as he brought out his tablet and began to look through their storehouse. He couldn't help a bead of sweat that started to roll down his face as he brought out a handkerchief from his pocket and started to dab his face with it.
"The boy was merely joshing!" Vlad stated as he waved his hand, "Weren't you, son?" He asked as the grin was wiped away from his face as he gave the boy a dangerous look.
Danny glared up at the older halfa, "I am not your son," he stated as he felt a shock run through his back suddenly, making him jolt backwards and shut his eyes in pain. Since the device was at his spine, it affected him more painfully than it was originally placed in his arm. "Of course I was joking…" He let out in a tired tone as he opened his eyes, clear pain in them.
Vlad nodded at the boy's correct answer, "How long with this take?" Vlad asked in a business-like manner as he placed his arms behind his back.
"Erm…Uh…" He incoherently said as Vlad's intimidating gaze was starting to get to him, "Give us ten minutes, Mr. Masters," he said as he did a slight bow and exited out of the room, shutting the door behind him.
"Do you want to test me, Daniel?" Vlad asked as he glanced over at the teen who was trying to still recover from the pain of the attack. Danny glared over at the man who had taken a seat on one of the lush seats that the bridal store had. He didn't answer him as he let his head hit the wall and looked up at the ceiling. "You should be excited, my boy," he trailed as he grinned, "Your mother is getting married," he stated as he could see the boy narrow his eyes.
Danny glanced over at Vlad, not wanting to give him the answer he was expecting, "I don't know how yet, but you're going to lose," he stated as he vocally stated his anger over the situation that he was being coerced into.
Vlad chuckled, "How can I lose…" He trailed as he grinned, "When I've already won?" He asked rhetorically as Danny glared at him.
"That's what you think…" Danny mumbled as he started to strum his fingers on the carpet as he tried to calm his nerves, "Was losing Jazz part of your winning plan?" He taunted as Vlad shrugged.
"You have to lose a few pawns to take the king," Vlad stated nonchalantly as he watched Danny get even angrier. The older halfa knew how to get a rise from the teen, and comparing his sister to a pawn in a game was only the start. Vlad was expecting a lash out as the teen usually did when he got upset, but instead he let out a deep breath before calming himself.
"Speaking of pawns…" Danny trailed, drawing Vlad's attention to him, "Haven't seen Skulker in a while…" he trailed, trying to get information from the man.
Vlad chuckled, "Not a bad tactic, Daniel, but you have so much to learn," he complimented as he shook his head, "Though I must admit, you are getting better," he complimented once again, making Danny fist his hands in frustration.
The young halfa stood up suddenly, making Vlad's amusement grow, "Don't compliment me," he stated as he glared over at the man.
"Why, Daniel, if you have done something that I approve of, you will be compensated for it," Vlad said as he crossed his legs, waiting for his suit to be done. "Not to mention my compliments are rarely given. You should consider it endearing," he lectured as he glanced over at the door.
Danny stared at the man, his body shaking in anger. No matter what words came out of the man's mouth, they would always make him ticked off. He didn't know what he'd rather say to the man, but none of them were anything nice. He looked out the window of the room and noticed large white buildings in the distance. Those were the schools that held the people of the world, unless they were needed for Vlad. "How did you even manage to build those so fast?" He questioned as Vlad could see what the teen was looking at.
Vlad leaned back in his seat, satisfaction taking over him, "It was a rather easy task since the ghostly hero of the world was…" He trailed, gaining the teen's attention as a scowl appeared on his face, "Dare I say non-present?" He taunted as Danny turned around and glared at the man. The older halfa continued his ramblings, ignoring the boy completely, "With Walker's enlisted help, the buildings were constructed overnight in mere hours," he stated as Danny shook his head and narrowed his eyes at the news.
"What does Walker get out of it?" Danny asked as Vlad smirked at him, his eyes beamed with delight.
"With you out of the way he is free to do what he desires," Vlad responded as he heard the tailor come down the hallway due to his enhanced hearing. He stood up, patting down his slacks that had gotten slightly wrinkled when he sat down, "Of course, you being completely powerless about the situation was just an added bonus," he finished with a smirk on his face.
Danny glared as he felt a snarl come over his features as his anger formed an ecto-blast that was being created on his right hand, "You!" He growled as he was about to fire it off when he received a sharp electric spark through his body. His body convulsed for a few moments as the ecto-blast that was being formed on his hand immediately fizzed out of existence. The young halfa was momentarily disoriented as the room began to get blurred, yet he could distinguish that the door to the room was being opened.
Vlad casted Danny a smug knowing glance as his eyes darted to the tailor walking through the room, "Is everything going smoothly?" He small talked as the tailor started to sweat once again.
"Yes, Mr. Masters," he addressed with a stiff nod. Danny's vision began to clear as he noticed that Vlad had a smug smile on his face. "Your purchase will arrive at your manor within the hour," he said in a nervous tone as he tried to not tremble before the man.
"So glad to hear that," Vlad stated dryly as a cat-like grin appeared on his face. The tailor took a step backwards in fear and confusion as the older halfa began to charge up a fatal ecto-blast.
Danny's eyes widened as he started to run over to the man to protect him on instinct, "No!" He yelled as he had a hand outstretched towards the short, pudgy tailor. There was a bright flash of light and Danny covered his eyes with his hand quickly. When the light cleared up, there was nothing left but ashes where the body used to be standing. The young halfa was in shock that another life was taken so quickly and suddenly in front of him.
Vlad placed his arms behind his back as he glanced down at the ashes momentarily before darting his eyes up at the door. He stepped over the mess on the ground as he made his way over to the door. "Come along, Daniel," he ordered as he didn't glance back at the teen. The older halfa pushed the door open with his foot as Danny could hear his echoing footsteps being retreated down the hallway.
"W-Why…" Danny trailed as he felt numb, not believing the fact that the man had been alive a few minutes prior. "Why can't I-?" He began to ask, but another shock jolted him out of his thoughts and pushed him forward slightly. Vlad was fifteen feet away, and the shock was a warning for the young halfa. He was completely in disgust at the man for not feeling regret at his actions. Danny began to walk forward, moving around the ashes on the ground to offer his respects towards the man that didn't deserve to die. Brushing away his mixed emotions, he forced his legs to move to stay within the allowed distance of himself and the monster.
"Sam! Tucker!" Jazz yelled with a grin as she ran over to where the two younger teens were. She embraced them both in a hug as they stood awkwardly, letting her do it. She pulled away, "I'm glad you guys are safe," she stated as Sam cleared her throat.
"Where's Danny?" She asked as Jazz looked down at the ground and shook her head, "Is he…?" She asked, the question hanging in the air as Jazz nodded stiffly. "Damn it…" She cursed under her breath as she crossed her arms. "How are we going to do this?" She asked in frustration, realizing that her plan to get Danny out of there was a failure.
Naomi dragged her feet as she approached the group of teens. She was numbly holding her side from where she had gotten severely injured by one of Walker's goons, "Sorry…" She mumbled, blood dripping from her wound.
Sam's eyes went wide, "Naomi, are you alright?" She asked as she rushed over to her. "What happened?" Sam asked as the Hispanic girl glanced up at her with unfocused eyes.
"I'm sorry," she stated again, the failure of her mission taking a deep effect on the teen, "I couldn't get him…And I couldn't get the mother either…" She said as she shook her head, "I'm so useless!" She yelled as Valerie rushed over to where she was with a first aid kit in her hands.
"Naomi, you need help," Valerie ushered to her as she tried to steer her inside of the building that housed hundreds of survivors. "Come on, we'll get you fixed up," she said in a soft voice as she grabbed the girl's upper arm gently, trying to steer her in the direction of the camp.
Naomi forcefully snapped her arm from the girl's grip, "Give it to a smarter person," she said in a dark tone as she started to walk away. Valerie, along with the rest of the teens all watched with concern as she had a slight limp to her step.
Sam sighed as she rand a hand through her hair, "This isn't going too well," she mused out loud as Tucker placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"I'll go after her," Tucker stated in a strong tone as he started to run after the retreating girl. Sam nodded, watching as he entered the building.
"What about Danielle?" Sam asked suddenly, an idea suddenly coming to mind.
Valerie perked up at this, "You mean the halfa, Danielle Phantom?" She asked, recollecting the brief time that she had with the girl. "She hasn't been seen in weeks, Sam," Valerie added as she rose an eyebrow at what the other teen was getting at.
Sam placed a hand on her chin, "But she knows what's going on, right?" She asked rhetorically as she looked up at Valerie. The girl nodded as Sam smiled slightly, "Which means she'll try to help," Sam stated as Valerie smiled.
"I'll take a ride around Amity Park on my hover board," Valerie said as she started to jog towards a different part of the massive building.
"Valerie," Sam stated as Valerie paused slightly and turned around, "Stay safe and don't get caught," she said in a serious tone as Valerie nodded, resuming her task at hand.
"Danielle?" Jazz asked in confusion, not knowing who they were talking about.
Sam sighed as she swung an arm over Jazz's shoulder and they both started walking towards the massive complex, "You have a lot to catch up on, Jazz," Sam said dryly.
Danny walked into the large mansion and immediately moved to get away from Vlad. He didn't want to see or hear him. Not when he had killed two people right in front of him.
"Daniel," Vlad addressed as he walked into the doorway and found the younger halfa trying to retreat to his room. The way the teen saw it, there wasn't any death up in his prison cell. "Don't tell me that you actually cared for that imbecile?" He asked, smirking with amusement.
The teen felt rage fill his body, "He wasn't an imbecile, Vlad, he was a person!" Danny lectured as he saw Vlad shrug his shoulders nonchalantly.
"An imbecile," Vlad corrected in a dry tone, growing bored with the boy's hero complex. "He was of no longer use to me, my boy," he argued as he started to walk towards the teen. Danny took a step back in a mixture of fear and anger.
"Stay away from me," Danny growled, trying to stay strong in front of his enemy. Though, all he wanted to do was run away from the man.
Heavy footsteps entered the foyer and Vlad sighed, "Skulker," he addressed as Danny turned his head to the newcomer. "Have you gathered everyone I requested?" Vlad asked in his business like tone. Danny glared at the hunter ghost.
Skulker took a glance around the room, and when his green eyes landed on Danny's, he immediately darted his eyes up to see his employer, "Of course, Plasmius. Everything is in order," he reported, though his head was slightly bowed.
"Does something bother you, Skulker?" Vlad asked as he started to see that Danny was trying to sneak his way out of the room. He narrowed his eyes as he willed the device inside of the teen's spine to go off. Danny let out a shriek of agony as he collapsed on his hands and knees. Skulker darted his eyes to where the younger halfa was as his eyes widened slightly. "If it's about your pay…" Vlad trailed, waiting for the hunter ghost to look back at him. Danny's screams kept going as Skulker looked back up at him.
"No, the pay is fine," Skulker argued as he tried to block the painful screams of the younger halfa, "Nothing is bothering me," he stated, walking to where he had entered the room, "If you will excuse me…" He trailed as he exited the room.
Vlad had willed the device to stop, and Danny let out painful gasps as he couldn't feel his body at all. The younger halfa twitched his fingers, trying to gain any feeling after such an excruciatingly painful attack. Vlad rose his eyebrows as he watched his minion leave to where his Ghost Portal was. "Seems as if something is bothering him," he stated as he walked over to where the almost unconscious teen was, "What do you think, Daniel?" He asked rhetorically as he looked down at the boy.
Danny struggled to raise his head to meet Vlad's eyes. He kept breathing heavily, trying to calm down his violently beating heart, "I…Hate you," he panted as he glared at the older halfa.
Vlad bent down as he stared into the teen's eyes intimidatingly, "After this day, little badger, I'll be your father," he threatened, "There's going to be more respect directed towards me," he stated as Danny continued to glare at him. "After all weddings bond people together; it's a day of celebration," he mused as he smirked, grabbing the boy by the throat as he hauled himself, as well as the boy, to their feet. Danny was dangling a few feet off the ground, "Drop the attitude, and enjoy yourself," he ordered as he threw him against the wall.
Maddie walked down the steps, her hair was curled and she was wearing a simple blue dress, "I…I thought I heard Danny screaming," she stated in a concerned tone as she glanced at Vlad and then her son. Danny grabbed onto the table that was next to him to keep himself standing. His knees were wobbling, since he still couldn't feel them.
"Nonsense, the boy is just excited for the big day!" Vlad lied as he turned towards him with a dark glare, "Weren't you, son?" He asked with a fake cheerful smile on his face.
"So excited," Danny drawled as he finally caught up with his breath. Maddie exchanged an unconvinced look with Danny, who was desperately telling her not to say anything with his eyes.
Vlad turned back towards his soon to be wife with a grin, "Shouldn't you be getting ready, my dear?" He asked as he swung his arm over the younger halfa's shoulders. The action made Danny tense and clench his teeth in protest, "Daniel and I were just about to get ready ourselves," he stated as he grinned.
Maddie nodded, "Be down in a few," she said with a small smile on her face as she trudged up the steps. As soon as she was gone, Danny pushed Vlad off of him with an angry growl.
"Don't touch me," he hissed out as he could finally feel his limbs working again.
"I'll let your rebelliousness slide for the time being, Daniel," Vlad said as he started to walk down the hallway, "Keep in my mind my previous statement," he suggested as Danny rolled his eyes while Vlad's back was turned.
"No way will I ever treat you with respect," Danny mumbled to himself as he took a step forward before landing flat on his face. "I think the worst part is that this isn't even the lowest that this day has taken," he sighed as a maid walked over to assist him to his feet.
When the young halfa had made the statement that he was more like Vlad's doll than anything…Well, that's exactly what he felt like wearing a fancy suit with his hair slicked back. "You're finished, Master Daniel," the human maid said with a small smile.
"You still didn't have to dress me," Danny argued with a soft smile.
"It's in my job description," she said with a shrug as she patted down the younger halfa's hair with a single pat, "I hope you can win," she whispered as she started to walk away.
Danny watched as she exited with guilt on his face, "I don't think I can…" He trailed as he walked outside of the dressing room and noticed that Vlad was leaning against the wall in the hallway. "Are you going to kill her, too?" Danny growled out with a glare on his face.
Vlad merely smirked as he stood up from the wall and walked up to the teen, "I did say this was a day of celebration, didn't I?" He asked rhetorically as he admired how similar they were dressed.
"That didn't stop you from completely annihilating the suit tailor," Danny argued as he started to walk towards where the wedding ceremony was being held. Vlad let out a chuckle as he followed after his step-son to be.
"Ah, but that was before, Daniel," he defended as Danny clenched his teeth together to prevent himself from upsetting Vlad. He didn't want another human to be killed at the sake of him lashing out. "Are you still moping around about that?" He asked, his amusement over another person's death made Danny sick.
Deciding to ignore the older halfa, he made it to a large hallway. Decoration were hung, making it seem like an average wedding. People were holding glasses and drinking them casually as they were talking amongst themselves, "What, are the drinks poisoned?" Danny mumbled, but Vlad had heard it.
"Not this time, little badger," Vlad stated that made Danny's eyes widen with alarm, "I was merely joshing," he said as he rolled his eyes, "Now, let's get ready for the ceremony," Vlad ordered as he started to head down the long hallway.
Danny was about to follow, but was bumped into by something large and strong. Startled and slightly alarmed, Danny moved to the side and fisted his hands in a fighting position. He wasn't surprised to see Skulker, but it also wasn't a welcoming sight. "What do you want?" Danny hissed out, still not forgetting how Skulker had started this mess to begin with.
Skulker scoffed, "Considering that your pelt is no longer up for debate…" Skulker replied harshly with sarcasm dripping off every word, "I was invited to attend this wedding, Whelp," he boasted as he started to head towards the main area.
"Skulker…" Danny hissed with venom as he moved to follow, but was stopped when he felt something inside of his suit jacket. He stopped moving, wondering what it was. The young halfa knew that he couldn't access his suit without Vlad watching him from who knows where. He shrugged it off and continued his way to where the wedding was.
To be continued…
A/N: Vlad murdered the suit tailor. Who murders the suit tailor like that...Anyway, I really want Valerie to get more 'screen time' so to say. So next chapter will probably have a little bit more of her.
