Update: As of Wednesday evening, I had gone 24 hours without power. Despite the annoyance and cold, it was not as bad as what some people experienced. I regained power Wednesday night and it has been on ever since. I think things are back to (almost) normal. The power outages are over (I hope). So, I am back to writing.
"You- you love me?"
House was nearly as surprised as Cameron.
Wilson stood behind them, hands placed on his hips. He was the third most shocked of the group.
"Yes, Allison. I love you." House had never been this vulnerable before. So raw with emotion. Cameron found it beautiful.
"Oh, Greg!" She leaped into him. "I love you too!" It wasn't like she had been thinking about it all the time but something inside Cameron longed for House to profess his love for her. She loved him too. She had loved him for so long, even despite trying to deny that she really did. But lately, with him taking care of her, she only fell deeper in love.
House stood there, mouth pressed against the top of her head.
"I'm uh- I'm gonna- bye." Wilson awkwardly walked around the two lovebirds, excusing himself with a small wave.
Cameron stared up at House, her eyes shining with happy tears. It was the first time she had felt happy in so long.
"I'm taking you out tonight. Cecilia's at 8:00 P.M." House brushed back some of Cameron's hair from her face.
"Ooooo I've always wanted to try Cecila's." Her face light up even more.
god, everything she did was just so damn cute.
A week after House confessed his love for Cameron, Chase and Foreman felt the toll.
"So, 30-year-old female with bloody vomit, diarrhea-" House started.
Cameron stood off to the side, a giant smile encompassed her face.
"Infection of the gall bladder and lymph nodes-"
She wouldn't stop smiling.
"The patient is shitting blood with chunks of tissue in it." He focused on Cameron. The smile didn't fade. "Hey- Dr. Cameron. Our patient is oozing from the inside with blood, pus, and shit."
"Mhmm." Cameron was staring at House's blue eyes. He was so handsome. The way his mouth curled when he talked was enough to-
"CAMERON." He stopped her short of her thoughts.
"What?!" She shook her head and blinked. "Why are you yelling?"
"Because, I just explained in great detail of the most disgusting bodily fluids- a description that would normally cause you to scrunch up that little face of yours in disgust- and you can't stop grinning like a schoolgirl."
Chase and Foreman exchanged a look.
"Sorry," Cameron laughed. "Go on."
Foreman lifted a single eyebrow.
House didn't want to immediately tell everyone that he and Cameron were together. The first thing that went through his mind was that they would think he was being easy with her. He didn't want anyone in the hospital looking at Cameron different- or giving her shit for it. But Cameron wasn't doing a very good job hiding it.
"What's going on between you and House?" Chase asked as they walked down the hall.
"What do you mean?" Allison kept walking.
"You and House. Is there something going on?"
She hesitated and bit her lip. A small grin escaped her lips.
"Oh my god!" Chase stopped her. "Are you having sex with him?"
Cameron jerked around. "No!"
"But you want to?"
"Chase!" She placed her hands on her hips. "I have a biopsy to do." Cameron walked away swiftly, the sound of her heels hitting the floor could be heard all down the hall.
"She wants to fuck House." Chase looked at Foreman, who just shrugged his shoulders.
"Hey, Jimmy." House greeted.
Wilson sat behind his desk, looking up from his documents. "Hey, House."
The older man set down his cane and sat down. He began eating out of a Styrofoam to-go box.
"What? Not gonna steal my chips today?"
"Nope. Got my own. Stealing would be wrong."
Wilson stopped eating. "Are you smiling?"
House didn't realize that he had been. "Maybe? Is it a crime?"
"No," Wilson crossed his arms. "You're happy."
Dr. Cameron opened the door to Wilson's office. "House? We have the results back."
House and Cameron exchanged a look, albeit subtle, of romance. She turned and walked out, leaving Wilson alone with his other doctor friend.
"You really love her." Wilson took a bite.
House let his guard down. His true feelings were showing and there was no way he could hide them. "Yes," he sighed and sat back on his chair. "I love her."
"It's not cancer," Foreman stated. "Biopsy was clear. Of the gallbladder and lymph nodes."
"Could be IBD? Vomiting and diarrhea explain it." Cameron offered.
"Doesn't explain the enlarged lymph nodes." Chase added. "High CRP suggests inflammation."
"What about diverticulitis?"
House couldn't think of a reason to dismiss it. "Do a pelvic exam to rule out pelvic disease then a CT for the diverticulitis."
"Okay, doctor." Cameron walked past him and smiled, a look of pure lust in her eyes.
Chase's eyes widened. It was no longer a secret that the two were engaged in things other than work.
House swiftly followed the brunette out the door. He wanted to be mad that she was being so obvious about their relationship. Especially after he had asked her not to. But, that look. Damn her. How was he supposed to be angry at that. "Oh, Dr. Cameron..." He called.
"Yes?" She turned around, pretending to be oblivious.
"Oh, don't you-" House waved a finger at her.
"Is there something you need?" She moved closer to him, her eyes inches from his. They weren't physically touching, but either could swear that they were feeling each other up.
"Cameron," House stared back into her glossy eyes. "I don't think-"
"Shh," The slim doctor lifted a single finger to House's lips. "Don't think." She grabbed his hand. "Follow me."
House and Cameron were practically running down the hospital hallway. She dove into Cuddy's office.
House looked concerned.
"Don't worry, she's not here. She went home from lunch, which gives us about 25 minutes."
He couldn't believe how quick things were going. Any other woman and he would have gone on with it with no second thought. But this was Cameron. And she had just been through a lot.
Cameron had already slid her shirt off and had moved on to unbuttoning House's. Her hands were working so fast.
"Cameron, wait-"
"No, it's okay. I want this." She was breathing fast and pushed against him. Her lips met his with hot desperation.
House didn't realize how strong Allison was. Don't let that small figure fool you, the girl was a beast. He couldn't deny his own desire. But, he had to use his head. "Allison. Are you sure about this? It's not too soon?" god, it was so hot. The fact that they were in Cuddy's office was even hotter.
"I'm sure, House!" Cameron was growing frustrated. "I want you." She pushed harder against him. "Mmm." She moaned and kissed him again.
House was unconvinced. There was no way she was ready for this. He didn't have to say anything to stop it because, at that moment, Dr. Cuddy broke in the room.
"House? Cameron?" She couldn't believe her eyes. "What the hell?"
They both turned around. "Shit." House murmured. He knew he would taje the fall for this- Cuddy always blamed him.
"Aren't you two working on a case? Supposed to be doing tests?" The dark-haired woman stomped her right foot.
"Oh, mom! You always ruin all the fun." House quipped, causing Cuddy to grow even more mad.
"House- I need to talk to you. Doctor Cameron, leave." She ordered them, sternly. "I'll talk to you later."
Cameron sauntered out of the office, fixing up her messy hair. She patted down her shirt and sat down outside.
As expected, Cuddy began berating House. "Real professional. Do you realize what you're doing? Do you even care who you hurt?"
"She came onto me."
"Oh, sure. Cameron just forced herself upon you, the poor innocent bystander?"
"Well, innocent, not so much- but, yes, she started it." House twirled his cane.
Cuddy sighed and rested her hand on her forehead. "jesus, House. You need to figure out what's going on between you two. Now leave. Go do your damn job instead of your employees."
He walked out and Cameron stood up abruptly. "You're next for the spanking. Don't worry, it doesn't hurt that much. Just try to focus on Cuddy's feet- takes the edge off." He winked and Cameron walked in. She felt like a child who had been caught putting her hand in the cookie jar.
"Dr. Cameron," Cuddy started. "You know this isn't a good idea. You know House."
She paused briefly before retorting. "Yes, Cuddy. I know House. He's a sweet, endearing man. And he loves me."
Cuddy felt herself laugh unintentionally. "Oh, Cameron. Do you hear yourself? He's House! You can't let yourself fall for him."
Cameron had had enough of Cuddy's mistreatment of her boss. She felt the anger rising in her. "Why don't you just fuck off? Fuck out of my business, fuck out of my relationships, fuck out of my life?"
House could hear yelling so he pressed his ear against the window for a better auditory experience.
Before Cuddy got a word in edgewise, Cameron snapped, "You're a bitch! Always have been and always will be. And you're just jealous that he choose me and not you." She was acting childish - like a junior high student arguing over a boy.
Perversely, House found this to be a huge turn on. He kept listening.
"Dr. Cameron, that could not be further from the truth. I am not jealous of you. I want you out of here. In fact, I want you fired."
"You can't do that!" Cameron shrieked.
"Oh yes I can." She crossed her arms, sadistically.
"House hired me."
"I hired House." When Cuddy said this, it came out raspy. She could never fire House and no plans to fire Cameron, but the anger got ahold of her.
Cameron stood, the ends of her mouth tilted downward, lips slightly parted. She turned and walked out, fresh tears welling in her eyes. She knew Cuddy couldn't really fire her, but the altercation still ruined her day.
