Chapter 1:

Another day has passed by for the infamous E Class once again failing to assassinate their yellow octopus teacher while he continues to lecture the class about History. Only one student is neither trying to assassinate his teacher or take notes of their history lesson: Karma Akabane. As the class gives up on another failed attempt, Karma grabs his stuff and decides to leave the class an hour early before school ends.

Karma: See ya tomorrow teach! *Opens door*

Koro Sensei: Excuse Me Karma! Where are you going?!

Karma: Hmm...none of your business teach! *Sticks out tongue and leaves*

Koro Sensei: Grrrr Akabane just doesn't seem to follow the rules AT ALL! He always ditches class early every Tuesday!

Nagisa: Well Koro Sensei it is Tuesday and I know he didn't want to reveal anything yet but Karma goes to visit his grandparents at their retirement house not to mention his grandpa has been in a bit of a rough health.

Koro Sensei: Interesting. So, Karma hasn't been ditching class at all for his own fun and games? Class, we are going on a last-minute field trip!

That statement brought a lot of sweat drops from the class as they did not like the idea of stalking Karma and getting into his personal life at all.

Kayano: Uh, sir isn't that kind of like invasion of privacy especially to someone like Karma?

Kataoka: You're basically entering hell's gate with a death wish.

Koro Sensei: You guys are no fun!

Nagisa: I guess we could go take a look after school sir. I'll go with you we just can't be spotted by Karma.

Koro Sensei: Right you are my boy! I'm glad someone said yes to my field trip. Anyone else like to come?

Kayano: I'll go as well, I guess. *Giggles then looks at Okuda* How about you Okuda?

Okuda: W-Well I do know his grandparents; I wouldn't mind being your guys shield and having them distracted.

Nakamura: You met them or did they welcome you to the family? *smirks*

Okuda: *Blushes red* N-NAKAMURA?!

After another day of class has ended, Koro Sensei and the three students decided to locate Karma's location thanks to Ritsu as they arrive in front of the retirement home. Okuda proceeded to go inside while her friends and teacher would hide in the bushes and began their search for the red-haired troublemaker. To Kayano and Koro Sensei's surprise, Karma was actually there and playing chess with his grandfather.

Kayano: So Karma wasn't kidding after all?

Nagisa: Nah, I know Karma and when it comes to his grandparents that's his priority.

Koro Sensei: You were also not kidding about his grandfather's state Nagisa. It pains me to see him in such a bad condition especially with the IV next to him.

The trio would continue watching as Karma and his grandfather continued their intense round of chess.

Akira: You've gotten smarter and more ready every round Karma! Makes me realize if you'll finally beat me.

Karma: *chuckles* Your tricks and techniques won't work on me anymore old man! I've studied and watch your every move to know where to strike you!

Akira: Say Karma, how's everything with school so far? Have you been studying for the next exams?

Karma: That's pretty much what I've been doing in my spare time gramps, studying to become the best of the best and of course rub it in on Asano's face.

Akira: *chuckles softly* Ah my boy, you remind me a lot of myself when I was your age. Smart and Confident but Competitive, Cocky, and Reckless but sometimes there's more to passing an exam than just rubbing it on someone. It helps you gain more knowledge that will help you with your future path but at the same time, if you feel like you didn't succeed then it gets stuck in your heart when it shouldn't. *Beats Karma in Chess* Checkmate my boy.

Karma remains shock at what just happened before the realization hits him that he once again lost to his grandfather. The grandfather shares a good laugh while all Karma can do is accept defeat and return a soft smirk. Only once has Karma beaten Akira in Chess but every other time Akira was always a step ahead. The heartfelt moment disappeared when Akira began to cough very rough in which Karma goes to his side to help out. Having asthma was not easy for Akira especially with the possibility that he might have lung cancer.

Karma: *grabs the inhaler and presses air for Akira* Deep Breath Grandpa, Deep Breath...

For Karma, it hasn't been easy with the condition of his grandfather. When they went to the doctors after possibly being detected for lung cancer, Karma would go once every week for the last two months hoping they would have the results and that his grandfather did not have it. After a few more from the inhaler, Akira breathes normally as Karma doesn't let go of him. The trio continue watching with concern.

Kayano: Poor Karma and his grandpa...that really looked scary.

Koro Sensei: It indeed is, it pains me to know Akira still has the inhaler since the last time we talked.

Nagisa: Wait, you've talked with Karma's grandfather before?

Koro Sensei: He was the one who came for our parent teacher conference, he was burly using it after he felt lack of breathing. Months later and it hurts to watch how he's doing today.

Karma: You gotta make sure to grab your inhaler as fast as you can or call for help if you're coughing or feel like you're not breathing gramps...

Akira: Appreciate the concern my boy but do not worry, grandpa is still kicking ass to this day! Besides this, I feel great physically! Not to mention I outsmarted you again!

The grandfather and grandson share a good laugh together before Akira hears a sharp scolding from his wife who is accompanied by Okuda which surprises Karma.

Sumi: I thought I told you not to laugh too hard Akira!

Akira: *chuckles softly* Sorry my love. Good to see you again as well Okuda.

Karma: Okuda? What are you doing here babe?

Okuda: Well: 1. I wanted to surprise my boyfriend, 2. I came to drop off the notes for History class today and 3. I do love coming here to see your grandparents.

Akira: My boy, did you ditch your class today to come see us?

Karma: No grandpa, my teacher gave me permission to leave early since he knows I'm visiting you two.

Sumi: What a sweet teacher to do that.

Koro Sensei: THAT'S A LIE!

Nagisa and Kayano: Hehe. *Sweat drops*

The trio continued watching the Akabane family for a little more before leaving. After 2 hours passed away, the retirement house began to let the visitors leave as Karma and Okuda began to bid their farewells to Akira and Sumi.

Sumi: Please do come more often Okuda, you know you're officially part of this family. Plus, there's some sneaky things Karma has said about you.

Okuda: O-Oh!...

Karma: GRANDMA!

The elder woman shares a good laugh at the blushing couple as Okuda nods at Sumi's invitation to come over often. She bids her farewell to both of them as she waits for Karma outside.

Karma: Remember Grandpa, you start to cough or feel like you're not breathing, grab the inhaler or call for help like Grandma or a staff member. I'll come back next week to visit and hopefully I'll have the results.

Akira: Don't worry about me son, I'll be fine. We Akabane's are strong after all!

Sumi: Don't forget Godzilla weebs And Cocky.

Karma and Akira: Hey!

Karma: You two can call me whatever time, okay? Grandma, if you need more medications for your legs let me know as well. I'll bring some of your famous soup next week for all of us to enjoy. Don't forget I love you.

Sumi: Thank you sweetie. You be careful as well and don't get into any trouble! Oh! before I forget, the doctor called in for your new glasses ready to be picked up tomorrow.

Karma: Thanks Grandma. *Hugs her then walks to Grandpa and hugs him* Love you Gramps, please take care and I'll be ready to finally beat you next week.

Akira: You're pushing your luck, Karma. *Chuckles and hugs back* My amazing grandson, I love you as well and remember that we are very proud of you. We can't wait to see you graduate soon.

Karma smiles as he bids his grandparents Goodnight before walking out of the retirement home with Okuda holding hands. Besides being a part of E Class and his beautiful chemist girlfriend, nothing else brings him more happiness than being with his grandparents.

Karma: Thanks for coming over babe. It really made my afternoon more better having my family there.

Okuda: You know I love your grandparents as well. They raised a very smart yet sadistic and troublemaking child. *giggles*

Karma: I'll gladly take that as a compliment!

The couple continued walking home together as they are ready to hit the bed and welcome a new day. For Karma, he had high hope his grandpa was going to be feeling better not to mention he's going to surprise him next week with tickets to the 40th anniversary showing of Terror of MechaGodzilla. It was going to be an amazing time spending it with his grandfather... or so he thinks...
