Summary: When someone dares writing a love letter to none other than Erza Scarlet, things get chaotic in the guild. And a certain blue-haired mage is faced with a new challenge: jealousy.
Love Letter
Part I
It all had started with a letter: a simple, rectangular slip of paper with jet black ink markings neatly depicted on it.
Earlier that morning, the armoured mage going by the name of Erza Scarlet, also known as Titania or -to him- as girlfriend (he found himself mentally giggling, goofily, at that definition, still so new to him), had burst the doors of their guild open, frantically asking "the letter! The letter! Has anyone seen it?"
Yes, their guild: it had been but a mere few months since Makarov had asked him to join, and he gladly accepted the offer. After Acnologia was defeated and he was officially pardoned, he spent the subsequent year to adjust to his new life as a free man and to sort out his own lingering thoughts in that disarrayed life of his: he wasn't alone in that process, and he finally came to realize, he'd never really been so in the first place. Erza had been with him through every step of the way, ever since their childhood, and after the hearing with Princess Hisui she helped him even further, stabilizing his way of life, encouraging him to accept the Council's offer to work with them, never daring to cross her self-imposed marks (nor even ever coming close to do so) so not to put any pressure whatsoever on him, albeit -he knew- her strong, never manifested desire for him to join the guild.
About 13 months later, he felt he'd reached enough a level of stability to finally, at long last, express the feelings he had always harboured for the scarlet-haired beautiful woman-knight, the sole and only existing being he'd ever loved. The outcome couldn't have been any better, going above and beyond anything his imagination had ever dared making him hope for: with happy tears streaming down her cheeks, she raised herself to her tiptoes and pulled him in a heartfelt, sweet kiss full of the feelings she as well reciprocated, telling him so right after.
Not a few weeks after that, Makarow showed up at his doorstep that, conveniently, was the first available housing nearest to Fairy Hills, a newly-constructed building just within a two minute walking distance.
The rest was history: the Master told him that, in truth, he'd always wanted him to join Fairy Tail, at least ever since the Grand Magic Games. The official reasons had been, it would've made Erza and the others ecstatic, and he would easily get along with everyone, but he also read between the lines he thought his presence would render the guild indiscriminately the strongest, adding respect (and a significant amount of money) to its name. He snorted benevolently, understanding the man's way of thinking, then his lips turned into an affected smile when he uttered his last words: "You've had such a troubled life, kid...if there's anyone who deserves a second chance here, it's you. I'm not talking about atonement or any of that stuff, y'know? I'm talking about being happy. Enjoying life. Being free. Whether you accept my offer or not, and I truly wish you would, just remember to try and be the person you are, not the one you think you oughta be."
If he hadn't already an intention of his own to join the guild (a thought that had lingered within him for quite a few years already); if it hadn't been that Erza herself wished for him to be part of it, surely Makarov's speech would've convinced him without a doubt.
And there he was, today, happy as he never dared wishing to be, welcomed and loved by dozens of people he already felt were his nakama, with a scarlet-red Fairy Tail guild mark proudly displayed on the mid of his right bicep and the love of his life spending most of her free time with him.
Speaking of which...
"Levy! Gajeel! Mira! Anyone, has anyone seen it?! Dammit!" She panicked as she searched under the planks, on the floor, over countertops for...
"Erza? What is this about? Looking for something?" He trained his voice as mellow and reassuring as it could be, as he placed placidly a hand over her shoulder as she mercilessly shook a passerby Gray, asking him the same question she'd been uttering for the past minutes.
To his very surprise, alas, her reaction was anything but comnforted, and if anything, she looked even more fidgety.
"Je-Jellal!" She shrieked as she dropped an unamused ice-mage to the floor. "What are you doing here?!"
"I-uh" he scratched his head. "I work here?" He replied confusedly. Was his presence in the guild still such a novelty for her? No, that couldn't be the case. But if not that, then-
"Oh, Erza-san!" "Erza!" Approached Wendy and Lucy, the shortest of the two holding out a few pieces of paper, and an envelop. A letter?
"I...I think this belongs to you". The blonde celestial spirit mage stated, retrieving it from Wendy's hands and returning it to its owner.
"Oh kami-sama, thank goodness you found-wait" she stopped mid-sentence, freezing. "Y-you...you read it?"
"Heh...it was sort of inevitable, I guess?" Lucy started, blushing.
"We had no idea it belonged to you, I'm so sorry!" Wendy chimed in.
"Gee-hee, and I heard them as they read it out loud" Gajeel interjected. "I didn't understand much of it, but those words could mean one thing and one thing only..."
"Erza received a love letter." Laxus concluded for him matter-of-factly, as he shrugged.
A what?!
A/N Author san is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack with another story! Still written hastily and mostly on my phone, for laptop keyboard is still malfunctioning and I'm still using a virtual one for it (i.e., I'm typing with a friggin mouse ^^;)
I've decided to turn this into an archive with a common leitmotif, which is Jerza fluffiness. Albeit these are, with a few exceptions such as this one, stand-alone ficts, the common theme is Jellal being part of FT (as he should be) and Erza's boyfriend.
In this story, I've diverged from the 100YQ narration (where it's Erza that asks him to join the guild) because, in all honesty, I've found that Jellal still wanting to die after all the progress he's made in the original manga, and after basically everyone told him to live (including Kagura) was...disheartening and OOC at the very least. In his final panel he was literally saying "live on/living". Not to mention, how he suddenly goes "naw it was all Siegrain, let me instead just listen to the woman who possessed me in the first place?" -.-
So while still being a fan of Mashima and a Jerza shipper, I changed that part in my story. /Rant over lol
In part II we'll find out who the author of the letter is (spoiler alert, a total hunk! XD) and we'll see a jealous (albeit fun!) Jellal.
