There was a place that adopted places from all over the vast universe. A place that grew with the people. But the people who caused the growth weren't regular old pedestrians, no...they were fighters. Or rather, ones who the owners of a mansion could tell were special. The Smash Mansion. A place for these fighters to live. A place where it causes the growth of the nearby area, a growth based on how many fighters join the mansion. And the owners of the mansion, Master Hand and Crazy Hand, were the ones who observed it all.
There was a new fighter joining Smash Mansion. His name was Kazuya. For the past while, one new fighter would join the mansion every few months. It was always hard to tell when a "month" was because time didn't move where the mansion was. But that place did have an artificial night and day system, so the fighters just assumed time was moving despite time actually staying the exact same as when they first joined the mansion. People were expecting someone new. Someone BRAND new. Pyra and Mythra, and even Sephiroth, were already known by the Fighters. If they were liked was a different story but they were still known. And now Master Hand was wondering if they knew of Kazuya, the new member.
No matter if they knew him or not, he was going to join the ranks of the Fighters. Kazuya got off the magical intergalactic bus with his luggage teleported to what would be his room. Once he stepped out he saw Master Hand. He took a step back from confusion. "What the hell?" he questioned.
"Good morning, Kazuya Mishima, my name is Master Hand. And I am the operator of Smash Bros."
"You are the operator of a fighting tournament? A big hand?"
"Yes. And I wouldn't say that Smash is JUST a fighting tournament. It could also be a place to just have fun." Kazuya crossed his arms and furrowed his eyebrows. "O-or you can just fight. Whatever you want. O-oh wait. You can not throw people off into lava, that's bad." Kazuya rolled his eyes.
"Whatever. Just take me to this place already."
"Can do." Master Hand then started flying off, with Kazuya following. "The town surrounding the mansion is named Ultimatum, it's my pride and joy."
"Don't care."
"Wow, rude much? Not even a little praise?" Kazuya looked around at the town, all the different people from all over the many universes, the different buildings, and didn't like it.
"It's ugly."
"What a bundle of joy you picked Crazy Hand..." They soon made it to the Smash Mansion. The large Mansion had everything the Fighters would need. They didn't even need to leave the Mansion to live a happy life. Although most of them still did leave for one reason or another. Master Hand didn't go into the Mansion right away, hoping to get some type of reaction out of Kazuya that wasn't just "Whatever."
"Neat." Master Hand slumped.
"Goddammit." Master Hand opened the large door that was made for him and Master Hand, with the large door having a smaller door for most of the fighters, and a slightly bigger one for bigger fighters. All of the halls were built with very wide and tall halls, for the Hands to move freely without being too tight. "Alright, most of the rooms in these side halls are dorm rooms with some bathrooms scattered around."
"Where's my room?"
"Follow me." Master Hand flew down the hall but stopped when Donkey Kong ran out of his room in a fit of rage. "Donkey Kong, watch out."
"MY BANANA!"
"What?" Donkey Kong looked at Kazuya, who already seemed fed up with this building. He jumped over and pinned Kazuya to the ground.
"YOU TAKE MY BANANA!"
"Why would I take your banana?"
"MY BANANA!"
"Ugh, Donkey Kong, have you checked K Rool?" The realization hit Donkey Kong, causing him to jump off and run, yelling for King K Rool. "Apologies. Some of the Fighters are...off if you will." Kazuya stood up and wiped some dust off his strong biceps.
"Noted." Master Hand cleared his voice and continued floating over to where Kazuya's room was.
"Right here is your room. Go on in, get settled, come back out when you're ready to resume." Kazuya nodded before entering his room. His room was truly his room. It was made to look like home. Although, it was obvious whoever created the room didn't know too much about him as he walked over to see a family photo with his dad Heihachi. Kazuya rolled his eyes before tossing the photo into the garbage. He looked around at his luggage to make sure all of his stuff traveled safely. While checking it out, there was a knock at the door. Kazuya walked over and opened it.
"Yes?" It was Richter. Kazuya's dorm neighbor. He wasn't wearing his typical clothing, but rather some casual button-down and shorts. There was also some toothpaste on his lips, he clearly just woke up and probably just threw on the clothes to visit his new neighbor.
"Yo, my name is Richter. I'll be in the room next door," Richter said as he pointed to the room to his right. Kazuya nodded before walking back to his luggage. Richter looked up at Master Hand.
"He's a tough one. I wouldn't say reserved but he's unique," Master Hand said.
"Hey, what's your name?" Richter asked Kazuya. Kazuya closed the suitcase that had his suit.
"Kazuya Mishima."
"Kazuya? A unique name indeed." Kazuya looked back, a face that seemed slightly annoyed but Richter took that as an opportunity to walk in. He patted Kazuya's back. "I'm glad to have a new person in the mansion.
"How many are there?"
"I don't know. Like over 80 people? It's hard to pinpoint an exact number."
"Sounds obnoxious."
"Trust me, sometimes it is. But honestly, it's pretty charming in how obnoxious it is." Kazuya nodded before turning around. "Want me to take you around the Mansion? I wouldn't really want Master Hand to do it. That man knows this place like the back of his hand, but his ego is bigger than he is already." Kazuya had to admit, he did like how Richter held himself and how he viewed others. Kazuya crossed his arms and glared at him with less of an annoyed face.
"Fine. I hate those with egos."
"I do too, trust me. And there are more than enough people in here that have too big of egos. Let's go." Richter left the room and looked up at Master Hand. He cleared his throat. "Hello there. I'll take over as guide."
"Ugh, great, I get nothing fun to do," Master Hand pouted as he flew off. Richter shook his head and turned around.
"You ready?"
"Yes." Richter started walking off, talking about some smaller places in the Mansion. They soon entered the main living room where Ness and Lucas were sitting on the couch arguing. Kazuya looked at the two boys. "Why are there children?"
"They're teenagers."
"How old?"
"17...but they still act like kids!" Richter yelled, making the two boys freeze. Lucas looked over and smiled. He ran over to Kazuya.
"You look strong," Lucas said.
"I am."
"Good, beat Ness in arm wrestling for me."
"WHAT! That's not even remotely fair!" Ness yelled, making Lucas turn around.
"Neither is using your powers!"
"What's wrong now?" Richter asked.
"Ness and I were arm wrestling, and he used his PSI to force my hand down. We made a rule against it." Richter sighed before rubbing his forehead.
"God, sometimes I wish I was never invited here.
"Please, sir!" Lucas pleaded to Kazuya. Kazuya shrugged before walking over to Ness, making him nervous.
"Let's go, boy. Give me your hand." Kazuya held up his hand, making Ness nervous as he grabbed it. And in almost an instant, Kazuya shot his arm down, making Ness hit the ground so hard he made an indent of his back on the ground. Lucas just laughed. Kazuya walked back to Richter. "Why do they hate each other?"
"They don't. They love each other, look." Kazuya turned around and saw Lucas help Ness up and put him on the couch.
"Next time stick to the rules ok?" Lucas asked.
"O-ok...sorry Luke." Lucas giggled before leaning in and kissing his cheek.
"Don't worry. Just be sure to learn."
"I HATE LEARNING!"
"No learning means no sex."
"...fine." Richter shook his head before walking off.
"They show their love in odd ways." Kazuya followed, not taking his eyes off the boys until he was forced to by leaving the room. He didn't expect to see a relationship form from a fighting tournament.
"Is this place really a fighting tournament?"
"Oh yeah, definitely is. It just doubles as a new home of sorts. A home where we can relax, make new friends, and just overall chill. We only have tournaments once a month so we have plenty of time in between fights. It can be annoying sometimes but it's still pretty fun."
"I don't do fun."
"Then you'll love the tournaments because everyone here is intense about winning." Kazuya liked the sound of that. It even made his tough, outer shell break a bit as he put on a small smile. Richter chuckled. "I'll show you the room for fights, but first, a few more important locations." The first location was Dr. Mario's office. "You never leave a fight harmed due to the properties of the battlefield."
"Then why does this exist?"
"In case of fights that take place outside the battlefield. Injuries that people are not protected from when they would be on the battlefield. There are a decent amount of arguments that grow to full-on fights, regular old sicknesses, etc. So Dr. Mario is in there ready for it all." The door opened to show Mr. Game and Watch, but he instantly hid his hands behind his back. "Oh, Game and Watch, is the Doc in?"
"No. He's gone," Mr. Game and Watch said in a strangely sophisticated but blocky voice.
"What were you doing in there then?"
"...not stealing. That's for sure." Richter crossed his arms before picking up the lighter Fighter. Mr. Game and Watch flailed before finding it to just be useless. His arms fell to his sides and showed he was stealing some of the Doc's tools. Richter took them and put him back down.
"You're not a doctor, explain these."
"I just wanted to play Doctor!" Mr. Game and Watch ran off.
"Hey," Kazuya said. Richter looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Kazuya then pointed at Richter's hand. "He took it." Richter looked at his now empty hand, making him groan.
"Fuck." He shook his head. "Whatever, there are some places I need to show you before the tournament room." Richter led Kazuya around the mansion, showing rooms like the training room, gaming room, and other smaller rooms. Kazuya was quiet as he was being led around the mansion. Richter enjoyed his silence. It made the tour much more bearable. They soon made it into the cafeteria. This was a very crowded room. It was pretty much always crowded. Kazuya looked around at the room and raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, people here LOVE food. Like, look at that." Richter pointed over to a table where Kirby, King Dedede, and Yoshi were sitting in front of a large array of food. Min Min put some more food down and held up a little stopwatch.
"You know the rules, boys. The person who can eat the most food wins a full buffet of sweets made by Peach." That earned some smiles from the contestants. "Go!" The three guys started eating at very high speeds. Kirby and King Dedede inhaled a large portion of food whereas Yoshi just stuck his tongue out and all of his food got stuck to it so he was able to eat it all in a single go. "We have a winner!"
"YOSHI!" Yoshi yelled. Kazuya just looked at the various Fighters over there, from the human-looking Min Min to the not-so-human look of the others.
"Are you sure they are all fighters? They don't exactly look...human," Kazuya questioned.
"They're not at all human, well Min Min is, but the others? Nope. But don't let that fool you. There are plenty of non-human Fighters who may even be more formidable than humans." Kazuya crossed his arms as he watched Peach bring out the large variety of baked goods. That was when a deep voice cleared their throat from behind him. Kazuya turned around and was forced to look a little up at Ganondorf.
"Yes?"
"Who are you?" Ganondorf asked.
"He's the new Fighter, Ganondorf. Kazuya," Richter answered. Ganondorf looked up and down at Kazuya as if analyzing him of some kind.
"What do you want?" Kazuya asked.
"You think you're all high and mighty, don't you? I can tell by the look on your face," Ganondorf grilled. Richter grabbed Kazuya's arm.
"Come on, he's just a dick," Richter said. Kazuya didn't budge. He just stared up at Ganondorf, with an intense glare.
"I can tell by the look on your face that you're scared of me. Are you scared of all newcomers because you think you can intimidate us and you'll beat us down? Back it up, pal. Because I was born to fight, and I will mercilessly beat you." Kazuya turned into his devil form, which spooked Ganondorf a little bit. Ganondorf gripped his fists.
"Bowser, come back me up, damn!" Kazuya looked around and found Bowser sitting at a table with some alcohol. He downed a whole bottle instantly before sticking up his middle finger.
"Buzz off Desert Boy," Bowser said before grabbing another bottle. Ganondorf pouted.
"You never help me, damned turtle." Kazuya crossed his arms and smirked. Ganondorf gulped before turning around. "Consider yourself lucky we're not in the battlefield."
"Uh-huh, right. We'll see." Ganondorf walked off, making Richter jump in front of Kazuya as he turned to normal.
"Look at you, handling conflicts already. Pretty nice," Richter applauded. Kazuya enjoyed Richter's company. He couldn't quite pinpoint it, but it felt like he was changed when he stepped into the Mansion. Almost as if he became more willing to other people coming into his life. Richter being that one person. "Not that I doubted you, but you still did pretty good with reading Ganondorf."
"I have an innate ability to read others, especially those opposing me." Richter stood up straight and smirked.
"A nice ability to have. Especially in a place like this, it'll likely come in handy."
"Hello there. Are you new?" Peach asked from behind Kazuya. Kazuya turned around and nodded. "Great. Want to try my newcomer special?"
"Your newcomer special?" Kazuya looked at Richter for some kind of confirmation if it was good, and he did get a nod from Richter. Kazuya then shrugged at Peach's request, making her smile, and run off to get the food. Kazuya looked around and scanned the rest of the cafeteria. There were a large number of Fighters in the room at that time, so he knew this was the perfect time to make his announcement. He stepped up onto a vacant table and cleared his throat. "People of the Mansion. I have an announcement." To his surprise, everyone did look at him, even those who evidently already didn't like him. "My name is Kazuya Mishima. And I will represent my name. My family. Here in this tournament. I will beat you all. I will win. And you will see the power of a Mishima." Peach walked up to Richter with a plate of her special cake. She looked at him and he just shrugged.
"Would you take a look at this guy," Wario chimed in from behind Kazuya. Hearing who interrupted Kazuya made Richter's fist clench, but he eased up when Peach put a hand on his shoulder. Kazuya turned his head only so Wario was able to see one eye which was his red eye. Seeing the eye made him instantly anxious. He gulped before averting his gaze. Kazuya wasn't going to stop it there though. He got off the table and walked toward Wario with a gaze so powerful that Wario didn't need to look at it to feel anxious. Kazuya stopped at the table, and sure enough, Wario was sitting with Ganondorf. The two of them were also joined by Wolf, who left the table.
"I don't know those two," Wolf ran off.
"Wow, what a great friend..." Ganondorf said.
"I will destroy the two of you. I will make sure everyone knows how weak you really are." Kazuya looked down at Wario and an evil smirk came upon him. "Especially you, you oversized piece of lard. You of all people will face the wrath of the Mishima." In an instant he called upon his devil gene. He grabbed Wario and held him up. Wario's earlier anxiousness turned to fear as he saw the look on his face, the look of pure evil. "Do you understand me?" Kazuya's voice was...frightening. Wario nodded his head sporadically. "Say it!"
"Y-yes. I understand!" Kazuya dropped Wario and turned to normal with a smirk.
"Good. Now you better watch your mouth around me...and around Richter." Richter felt a rush of pride through him that he received recognition. Kazuya finally felt finished before walking back to Richter and Peach. He gratefully took the slice of cake from Peach and looked at Richter. Richter's face was weird. He looked grateful and happy and...a mix of other emotions. "What?"
"You're trying to protect me? Even if I don't need it?"
"Well, isn't that the point of being a friend? Is to help even if help isn't really needed?" Richter smiled.
"Yeah. Wanna know another thing friends do?"
"What?"
"Share cake," Richter said with drool coming from his mouth and grabby hands toward the slice of cake that Kazuya had taken a bite out of. Kazuya moved the cake around.
"Don't test your luck." Richter stopped and chuckled nervously.
"Want a slice, Richter?"
"No no, it's fine. I've gotta take him to the final place anyway. Come on, Kazuya," Richter walked off, with Kazuya following. Richter took him to the final area, that being the Fight Signup and the actual Battlefield. The room they were in was the Fight Signup. It was a small-ish room focused only on signing up for fights. There were two doors on either side of the actual sign-up that led to the seats of the Battlefield. They were never full, as there were more seats than there were Fighters. It didn't help that the Fighters usually watched the fights on live television, much like the rest of the people in the city. "You sign up by putting your hand on the hand pedestal, it'll scan you, and you'll need to step into those teleporting things to put you into the fight."
"What if I don't sign up?"
"Then you won't be protected from damage. So if Bowser shoots flames, you're typically unaffected in terms of true damage. It'd hurt, obviously, but would it burn you? Nope. It'd only hurt in terms of the actual fight. However, if you don't sign up and still enter the fight, you'd be heavily hurt." Kazuya nodded in understanding. Richter walked over to the transporter. He motioned for Kazuya to do the same in the other one. When he did, they both teleported onto the battlefield and Richter happily sighed. "This is where you'll be fighting." Kazuya looked around and smiled, knowing he was going to love the place. He took in the fresh air. "There's some more things about the fighting but you'll learn along the way. Just know, beat them up, do damage, kick them out of the Battlefield. Winner winner chicken dinner." Kazuya walked over to Richter.
"Thank you, for showing me around."
"Of course, it is what a friend does after all."
"I'm not typically friends with anyone. Especially those who I know are weaker than me."
"Wow, thanks for the compliment," Richter playfully rolled his eyes.
"I mean look at you vs me." Richter crossed his arms. "What I'm trying to say is, I wouldn't mind taking over the world with you." Kazuya chuckled and Richter joined in.
"You're kidding right." Kazuya stopped chuckling and just looked awkwardly at him. "R-right? You're kidding, right?"
"Of course I am." Richter sighed happily before turning around.
"Good. For now, let's get out of here. All you need to do is jump off." Kazuya grew a bit excited. He picked Richter up and smiled. "What are you doing?"
"I'm doing what I'm best at." Kazuya walked over to the edge of the Battlefield. "We're still friends?"
"Yup."
"Good. So long." Kazuya tossed Richter off. "Yeah, he'll be fun to take over with." Kazuya then stepped off the edge and fell. This was a new age for him to overcome. The age of new fights. The age of a new future. The age of Super Smash Brothers.
