The stunned boy slowly looked at the window… the sun was shining. It was morning. He had Returned by Death.
A voice sounded out…
"Guest, have you awakened?"
Subaru's blood ran ice-cold and slowly turned his head to the head of his bed.
"Guest, are you awake?" another voice sounded.
Slowly… he turned his head, not being able to stop the terror and fear from filling him as his mouth emitted grunts and gasps of fear and pain.
Natsuki Subaru screamed for his life. For before him, were the same twin maids that tortured and killed him.
The twin maids jumped back away from his bed frightened. Subaru sits up in bed.
"Can y'all leave the room, I need some time for myself" Subaru says to the twin maids.
The twin maids very quickly leave the room, although Rem gives a suspicious look towards Subaru as she closes the door. Subaru swings his legs off the bed as his thoughts are in a disorderly mess.
What am I going to do about Rem, she is just going to keep killing me during the fourth night, she might have even been responsible for my first death here in my sleep and I cannot go to anyone in the mansion they will probably back her up. I can't go to Emilia about this as she is too busy.
Suddenly a knock at the door. A voice rang out from the other side of the door."Subaru, are you all right? If something's wrong you're welcome to talk to me."
"No everything is fine Emilia I just need to have some time to myself," Subaru calls out.
He waits until he can hear her move away from the door. He gets up and paces around the room.
What am I going to do... then suddenly a memory pops up of a visual novel he had read in high school called Fate Stay/Night. I wonder if the servant summoning ritual from the Nasu verse would work here...
His mind made up. He walks over the desk and grabs the ink jars in the desk drawers and pours them out in shape of the summoning circle to the best of his ability and memory.
"How did it go? I think it goes like this." Subaru says out aloud.
"Let silver and steel be the essence. Let stone and the master of contracts be the foundation. Let's raise a wall against the wind that shall fall. Let the four cardinal gates close. Let the split road from the crown reaching unto the Kingdom rotate. Let it be declared now; your flesh shall serve under me, and my destiny shall be with yours. Answer if you would submit to this will and this truth. An oath shall be sworn here. I shall reach Heaven; I shall have dominion over all evils of all of Hell. From the Seventh Heaven, attended to by three great words of power, come forth from the rings of restraint, protector of the balance."
The crudely drawled circle begins to glow with power as it pulled mana from the atmosphere and Subaru drops to his knees hoping beyond hope it would work. Then the glow intensifies in the middle of the circle then dies down. Subaru's breath is taken away. There stands in the middle of the circle was one of the most beautiful woman he has seen beside Emilia. A black crown adorned her silver hair with a thin veil covering her face; yet even so her icy blue eyes shone through the obstruction.
"So, you have summoned me. As the Queen of Britain, the Land of Fairies, I shall lend you my power as a Servant. You shall work hard as my retainer. Or perhaps you would prefer me to take you in as my husband. I am Berserker otherwise you can call me Morgan Le Fey" the Servant announces to Subaru.
Subaru looked shocked
I was absolutely shocked I did it, I summoned a genuine servant and from her aura, she feels powerful and is a queen. Subaru thinks
I feel stronger here, but yet feel like I am unknown here by this World. It's almost like I am on entirely different World that is outside the Common Sense of Men, perhaps my young summoner has the answers if he refuses to tell me I will just force it out of him. Morgan thinks to herself.
"Master, where are we and is this Earth?" Morgan asks Subaru.
Subaru wakes up out his awe as she asks that question.
"No, as far I can tell this is not Earth, and we are in the Dragon Kingdom of Lugnicia in the mansion of the court mage Roswaal. "Subaru says to Morgan, only to receive a sharp look in return.
"Did you really summon a servant in another mage's house, and I can tell you did not take the proper precautions to conceal the energies of the ritual." Morgan admonishes him harshly.
Subaru had gotten to his feet cringes to himself.
"Yeah, that was probably a big mistake, but I was despite. I feel like my life is in danger and me hav-"
The world stopped.
It just stopped.
The silent world around Subaru was filled with a cloud of black fog. The fog overtook Morgan and the entire room. Subaru's eyes trembled from the fear and confusion. He couldn't move, speak or look around.
Only looking at the darkness as it manifested before him in the shape of a clawed dark hand with sharp claws.
Whoa… wait…
The slender hand slowly moved and climbed over his frozen form.
This is seriously no joke…
Subaru could only feel the pain as the hand finally reached his heart and crushed it. The boy grunted in pain, frozen and incapable of moving in the world of darkness of this black hand.
"Subaru!"
His eye opened, he could feel his heart free from the hand's mercy, he could feel his nerves no longer frozen to the dark world.
"Ah, ugh! Ahhhh! Uh…" Subaru grunted and gasped as he clenched his chest from the pain. Morgan looked at him with alarm.
"What happened master? I didn't sense anything, and your peculiar smell has gotten stronger. Is it something in this mansion?" Morgan walks over concerned.
I can't tell anyone about Return by Death. I've died in this mansion three times. Subaru thinks to himself.
"It is nothing, I am fine. It is not something in the mansion." Subaru says.
Only for Morgan to crease her brows and cross her arms across her chest.
"My fairy eyes see through lies. And I can tell you it is not fine and there are people starting to approach the room." Morgan announces.
"I can't tell you and I have to hide the evidence of the ritual and you before they come." Subaru says in a growing state of worry.
"Truth. I can aid in the clean-up with my magic, and I will use my spirit form to hide, but this conversation is not done." Morgan says to calm down the young man.
Morgan turns around and waves her hand with glowing blue and black Mana from it and erases the circle and moves the carpet back with another wave of her hand, then proceeds to go into her astral form.
Subaru quickly picks up and hides the ink bottles, just as someone knocks at the door.
"Subaru? Me and Puck sense mana being drained from the atmosphere to this area, what is going on in there." Emilia calls out.
"Nothing is going on. Just testing my magic in here. I will be out soon Emilia-Tan." Subaru calls out to Emilia.
"Okay, I will see you soon." Emilia calls out.
"alright" Subaru says. Then he hears a voice in his head.
"Master, can you hear me? a feminine voice calls out in my head. Subaru froze and called out in his head.
"Is that you Morgan?"
"Yes, at least you weren't a child yelled out in your head." Morgan says over the link.
"One point of good reputation with her. "Subaru smugly thinks.
"So, let's go over the stuff I know here." Subaru says out loud.
"Very well, after you go over the basics, I shall inspect the house. I don't sense a bounded field around the house. But around the certain room, there is something similar to it." Morgan states.
"Oh, that is Great Spirit Beatrice's library and room. She doesn't really like me. She really does not come out of there that much, but she can sense everyone in the Mansion. I don't thin-…" Subaru trails off as a brief sense of alarm goes off from her.
"So, she could sense me potentially, am I correct?" Morgan says over the link.
"I think she can sense Mana in a person. So, she probably could sense you." Subaru states worriedly.
"Let us meet up with her and see if she did sense me and whether we will need to do damage control" Morgan states.
"Right" Subaru says as opens the door and head towards the library.
