Chapter 4

"Don't worry. Rem and Subaru won't tell on you..." Rem speaks gently, and reaches to pet the dog, the dog opens its maw and chomps on Rem's hand.

—"Nghe!?" Rem reels back, immediately holding the afflicted hand. The bite was deep, and blood was drawn.

"Damnit!" Subaru cursed, "Look, kid, I'm all down for having a pet, really! —"

Meili watches Subaru closely, as Subaru grimaces and glares at her, "—But if I were you, I'd stop holding onto that dog.He is not tame!Do you understand!?"

The little girl turned and ran back way she came.

Morgan observing this interaction, sensed a release of magical energy from the dog and to the maid's hand

"Master, I have sensed magical energy being released from the dog, please hold the Oni's attention until I get there and don't mention me to her." Morgan said over the link.

Subaru looked alarmed at her words and quickly called out to Rem.

"Hold on Rem, that looks bad. We should get that treated by a healer."

"It is fine, I can heal myself. No need to bother anyone on my account." Rem announced.

"But what if the bite was -." Subaru was suddenly cut off by a powerful aura and Rem suddenly tensed.

Subaru turned around and look up at Morgan who had a veil over her face and was carrying a staff that also was giving off an aura.

"I have heard you two talking and I found myself curious and wanted to check for myself that bite on your hand, can I see your hand?" Morgan coolly announced.

As much as Rem wanted to reject her, she felt like this woman would not take no for an answer and also for some reason she felt compelled to listen to her.

"Rem will let you check her hand." Rem then held up her hand and Morgan took it into her own.

"I have detected a magical energy concentrated in the bite. You should get this checked out in case it is a curse." Morgan dispassionately stated.

Subaru suddenly thought himself

"Wait, what if this Curse that Morgan discovered was responsible for my weakness at night." Subaru thought to himself.

"We have to get back to Beatrice and have her check it." Subaru worriedly said, while taking Rem's hand and pulling her to the Mansion.

Rem called out to the woman who behind them. "What is your name?"

"My name is Morgan." the now-named woman announced.

As the two ran back to the Mansion. Morgan then turned her attention to where the little girl with the dog ran off to and walked after them. Plotting to hypnotized and possibly kill the girl and her dog to remove a threat to her new domain.

Little while later

Meili as she prepared to head back into the village, suddenly she felt an overpowering presence right behind her that was similar to Mama. She turned around and saw icy cold blue eyes then saw nothing else.

Meili blinked and looked around.

"Wait was I doing? Oh, I need to finish the rest of the plan. Meili then walked back to the village with her supposed friends.

Morgan astralized form watched Meili joined the group of kids.

"So, you considered the infamous bowel hunter as your sister and you work for the Sin Archbishop of Lust Capella, and has a divine protection that can control certain mabeasts, it would be better not drawn those forces here, especially the archbishop whose ability to transform others and herself into animals, including a dragon. You also planning to destroy the boundary crystals and bring the village kids into the forest hopefully drawing the rest of the village into a trap" Morgan thought to herself.

Morgan decided to wait around and inspect the boundary crystals.

"This is a poor defensive field; it can be so easily sabotaged by destroying the crystals, allowing the beasts to rush in and attack the village, and there is no warning field to warn the village and the mansion that the crystals have been destroyed, this will not do. Once I purged the majority of the forest. I will place my own bounded field around this area. Once I secure my place at the mansion."

"I am suuure thaat you can haandle this Subaru-kuun." Roswaal said in his weird way of speaking blowing off Subaru's words. He then turns around and flies off.

"My gospel seems to be slightly off, but not too much off. Perhaps I will be the last Roswaal." Roswaal thought to himself as he soars though the air.

Subaru watching Roswaal leave thought himself.

"Did my trip with Rem and Morgan being here cause some sort of change in events? Did Beatrice mention her to him? And is he that trusting in me and the maids to beat the shaman?" Subaru thought to himself. Subaru head back into the mansion to where Rem, Ram and Emilia were talking.

"We should wait and see if there is going to be an attack on the mansion." Ram stated.

"What about the villagers? Won't they be in danger?" Emilia worriedly said.

"Your safety is the top priority lady Emilia. The villagers are a lesser concern. Ram said.

Rem was about to speak until Subaru came into room and pulled out her MorningStar.

"He is a Witch cultist he probably is working with the shaman and that woman in the village."

"What! I am not one of them. I swear on my life I am not a cultist, tell her Puck!" Subaru yelled out scared for his life. Over the link he feels Morgan coming closer to the mansion.

"Master, you should prepare to use a command seal to bring me there and evacuate the mansion" Morgan stated over the link.

"That is not true. Rem, the witches scent means nothing without a gospel and I can sense the truth from his words. He is not a threat to us. Far too weak. Puck said to Subaru's defense.

"You see Puck believes me and also did you really have to say it like that Puck!" Subaru yelled out.

"But, -" Rem started to say until Ram cuts her off.

"Remember what Roswaal said about him." Ram said to Rem.

Rem ashamedly put away her weapon.

"If you all are not going to defend the village then, me and Morgan will." Subaru defiantly stated. He then turned and left to meet Morgan at the mansion's front gate.

"So, I presume you did not get the assistance of the people in the mansion from the look on your face." Morgan calmly stated.

"No, I did not. They did not want to see the need to protect the village over the mansion." Subaru bitterly stated.

"I see, I am going have to teach you a bit of diplomacy, but not know the defense of the village has to come first." Morgan said.

"What are you going to do about it?" Subaru said.

"I am planning first to let the shaman make the first move then I will mercilessly crush the attack." Morgan said while turning to walk to the village.

"Wait, can't you just go now and stop the attack now? Subaru called out surprised that she is being passive.

"I would rather not throw away our current advantage and get surprised later on by something we didn't take into account." Morgan said over her shoulder.

"But, what if-" Subaru started to say before Morgan cut him off.

"We will wait until the attack; you can spend the rest of the day trying to convince them to come to the defense of the village and preparing yourself." Morgan said over the link with finality.

Subaru seeing that Morgan was not going to change her mind and her words were a command, turn head back to the mansion to prepare for the attack.
