Chapter Fifteen:

About a week after watching the Rating Game, quite a few things happened. The most notable one was the announcement of the Yule ball. While Blake didn't really care in the slightest about the customs and traditions of the Wizarding World and had as a result zero intentions of going, at first. The only reason she even agreed to attend was because of Luna convincing her and asking the Demi-Dragon Goddess to be her date, even if it was officially the other way around. For the most part of the time since the Rating Game, Blake hadn't really been doing anything at all outside of doing… something outside the school grounds and spending time with Luna… as far as the castle was aware at least.

In truth however, she was spending her time mastering an aspect of the Power of Infinity that not even her mom had been aware of. Multiversal Observation and (potentially) Travel. Or as Luna called it when Blake told her about it, The Kaleidoscope, though why the Demi-Goddess decided on that particular name was something of a mystery. Not that Blake was complaining as she liked the sound of it. Something that she definitely was complaining about though was the annoying fact that overuse of The Kaleidoscope gave her the worst headache ever… of all time.

One of the first of Blake's experiments with The Kaleidoscope was trying to find an Alternate of herself, which she was successful with. One of the more notable Alternates she found was, much to own surprise, male with very long white hair and a blindfold. What really surprised her about that one was that he actually looked at her, which as far as she knew shouldn't have been possible. Moving on to another one, that one was also male with rather long hair and… what the hell? Was that a magical object in the shape of a girl from outer space? An Alternate that caused Blake to do a legitimate spit take, as she was drinking a soda at the time, was one that was female… and male at the same time. That one prompted Blake into calling it a day as she did her best to bury the disgust and the scene she had witnessed through The Kaleidoscope.

During an afternoon of just relaxing on the Ravenclaw common room's couch, and doing homework in Luna's case while Blake was just taking a nap with her head resting on Luna's lap, the egg, which was laying on the enchanted pillow on the common room table, started to move and crack. It was hatching. And that was something that caused the entire tower to do the supposedly impossible, they stopped doing their homework as the Demi-Goddess put the egg in her arms. The very second that the egg was in her arms, more cracks started to form throughout the shell until it finally shattered. The newly hatched creature mostly resembled a bat with a draconic tail and it was about the size of an average kitten. As the creature looked up and was met by Luna's face, it instantly started to snuggle with her, causing everyone in the tower to release a collective Aww.

"Blake." Exclaimed Luna as she started to scratch the creature behind its ears, which it clearly enjoyed. "Thank you."

"You're welcome, Butterfly."

"While I'm happy with it, what is it exactly?"

"It's called a Nightshade Paolumu, and it's diet consists of eggs, specifically the yolk."

"Interesting." It was at that point where Luna realized that the entire tower was staring at her and her newly hatched pet. "Don't you guys have homework to do?" And with that prompt, everyone besides Luna went back to doing their homework or studying.
