"How do you guys know each other?" Dakota asked. Both Korra and Asami paused.

*Knock Knock Knock*

"Come in," Kato yelled. He'd been home for an hour and started doing his homework. He put his pencil down and looked up to see who was opening his door. It was his reflection but with blue eyes. "What's up 'Kota?" he said. Kota came in and sat next on his bed next to where Kato was sitting at his desk.

"Man I don't know. Do you really believe mom and Korra?" Dakota asked.

"You mean about them just being friends since high school? I mean sure, it's not like we were alive then to know the truth." He said laughing. Dakota shook his head.

"Dude, I think they were more than that."

"Uh-we- we were. I mean we are-"

"We're old friends Kota." Asami said, cutting Korra's failed attempt at lying off. Korra wasn't sure what to say. Yeah I mean, she wanted them to know so bad who she was but was this the way? Was this the perfect time too? No.

"Yeah Dakota, we're just old friends. We've known each other since highschool."

"Yeah, Korra was on the basketball team and I was one of the cheerleaders."

"Mmhm, that's how me, Mako, Bolin, and Asami know each other. We were a big friend group." Korra finished off awkwardly. Both parents secretly praying that their half truth, half lie would work. And it di-

"Wait you played basketball?!" Kato jumped in excitedly. Korra's eyes lit up.

"Yeah bruh! I was the best if I do say so myself."

"Wait, me too! Me and Kota were the best on our summer league team!" Green and blue eyes mirrored each other's excitement. In this small moment Korra couldn't describe this feeling. Was it a proud mommy moment? On the other hand Asami was just glad that the simple minded son and his simple minded mom was able to do a whole 180 on the conversation. Asami was able to catch Dakota out of the side of her eye. She knew he wasn't going to let it go but he remained quiet.

"Oh man, I really gotta see how you guys play." Korra said. "Maybe we can go to the court one weekend."

"Yeah, Kota tell her how good we were. And yeah please take us, of course after the fighter gets off punishment." Kato said, nudging his brother. Dakota gave him the side eye. "Too soon?" Kato said sheepishly. Dakota just rolled his eyes and looked out the window.

"Leave your brother alone, Kato before you join him." Asami said, turning around back to the front.

"Yes ma'am" Kato said quickly. Korra chuckled to herself and she looked back at the boys in the back seat and at Asami. "Spirits, I can't wait till I can finally be with them, as a family" She focused her eyes on Dakota and her face dropped somewhat. "I want to tell you so bad buddy, I just don't want you to hate me." She felt Asami's eyes on her and looked over to her and gave her a half hearted smile. She began to pull out of the parking spot.

"Oh shoot!" Asami said as she just recalled something.

"What mommy?" Kato said.

"Yeah what's up 'Sami?" Korra asked as she pulled to the exit of the school parking lot.
"I left my car at your hotel?" Asami replied.
"What were you doing at her hotel, mom?" Dakota asked, rising from his sightseeing.

"Well, Korra is now moving back down here, her, Mako and Bolin are moving their company down here. She needed help with choosing a new apartment for them all since Mako and Bolin went back to their old town to finish packing." Asami said.

"Oh cool!" Kato exclaimed.

"Mmhm, since the house is close by I'm going to drop you guys off and then ride back with Korra to get it. I'm texting Jinora now so she can meet us there."

"Isn't she on Air Temple island?" Korra asked. "That's a little farther than we are right now."

"She's probably at Kai house, which is only down the street from ours."

"Ah, okay." Korra said. *Ding* Asami looked down at her phone to see that Jinora texted her.

"She said she'll be there in 5 and Kai's coming with her." Asami said. Korra gave a nod and turned out the parking lot.

They turned into the driveway and pulled up seeing Jinora and Kai leaned against his car talking. Jinora walked up to the driver side and Korra rolled the window down. "Ahhh, look at the beautiful fam-" She was cut off by the death glare she felt from Asami. Jinora rubbed her neck and changed the conversation. "Oh Kai! Look, it's Korra. I know you haven't seen her since we were in middle school." Jinora said desperately trying to get Asami's eyes off her. Kai walked up to the car and dapped Korra up.

"Korra! Man it's been so long I missed you." Kai said smiling.

"Yeah I know it has but I'm back for good now dude! You were half the height you are now. Everybody's all grown up." Korra said but she felt a pang at her heart.

"Okay, kids I'll be home in a little while. I'll pick up some pizza and wings for everyone and we can have our Friday night pig out!

"Yess!" Both twins exclaimed as they got out. Asami rolled her window down.

"Aht, Aht no so fast. I want homework down before any fun." The both boys groaned. "And secondly, Dakota you're still grounded so Xbox is out the window and Wednesday when you get back to school you will be apologizing to your principal." Asami said, finishing dishing out her motherly commands.

"Yes ma'am." They both said in unsions, sadly.

"Oooooo what did you do Dakota." Jinora said, shocked. "You're actually grounded this time and not Kato?"

"Hey!" Kato said

"Sorry sorry but this is actually shocking." Jinora said back

'Well somebody's a fighter."Kato said laughing.

'Oh my spirits. What Kota got into a fight?" Jinora said "Now this is really crazy."

Dakota punched Kato's arm. "Bruh, knock it off."

"Isn't that the same way you punched ole' dude" Kato said teasing his brother.

"Kato, knock it off." Asami said sternly. "Jinora make sure they do their homework. I'll be back shortly."

"Okay, Asami!" Jinora said as she walked with her arm around the boys. Korra began rolling the window up as she catched the last words from Jinora "You guys def gotta tell me what happened."

Korra pulled out of Asami's neighborhood and began driving back to the hotel. "That was a close one huh." Korra said looking over at Asami.

"Yeah that boy is just too curious for his own good." She said laughing a little.

"Well, I didn't tell you this but, he's asked me before if I was his mom." Korra said as she stopped at a red light.

"When? What did you say?" Asami asked, looking at Korra.

" The night when Pema cooked dinner. When you saw us by the rock. He asked me right before you and Kato walked up. I told him we were just old friends."

"Same"

"Well from what I've known in the last week or so is that the kid is smart. This 'old friend' lie is cracking line by line." Korra said as she let her foot lightly press on the gas as the light turned green. After driving about a mile or so she turned into the Hotel parking lot. She parked next to Asami's car and looked over at Asami. She studied her gaze and could tell she was in deep thought. " 'Sami look…" Korra started. Their eyes met each other and she began again. "I know it hasn't been long since I've gotten back."

"Korr-"

"Let me finish."

"Okay."

"It hasn't been long but I will keep up this lie until it's the right time but in that time I will get to know my kids, and get close to them. I'll let them decide if they want me in their life or not. But what I'm not gonna stand for is never not knowing them for another 10 years. And...and leaving you by yourself for another 10 years. I still love you and I'll wait for you until you want me back into yours too." Korra said, finishing off. She looked down at her hands not sure how Asami would take this. She heard a slight sniffle and looked up towards Asami. Emerald eyes shimmering with coats of tears forming around them. One fell and Korra reached over to wipe them from instinct. "This will also be the last time I ever make your cry." She said with her signature crooked smile. Asami raised her hand to cup Korra's and leaned into her touch. Asami laughed, clearing her throat.

"I-I love you too Korra, you know I haven't stopped, but how do we even make this work?" Asami asked, looking at her.

"One date at a time." Korra said before leaning in to softly kiss Asami.

"Wait, wait dude, what do you mean you think they were more than that." Kato said, now giving his brother his full attention.

"Hold on." Dakota said as he ran to his room. Kato could hear some faint shuffling coming from his brother's room before he saw his body slip back through his door. Dakota handed over the picture he found in their garage of their mom and Korra.

"Hey, look, it's Korra and mom." Kato said holding the picture and booking between it and his brother.

"Duh, captain obvious. Look at what Korra's doing" Dakota said. Kato looked at it better and his facial expression changed.

"Shit, dude she's kissing mom." Kato said

"Yeah and flip it over and read the back." Dakota said sitting next to Kato.

"'To my love, I will cherish you for, forever.-Korra'" Kato read reciting his unknown mother's words. "You think she's our other mom?"

Two chapters in the same week? I'd officially say I'm back lol. No but seriously I've missed you guys. I wrote this story 6 years ago and now I'm 21. Where does the time go? All in all, I want to say thank you for everyone who has been sticking with my ghosting. I will try to update this weekend.
