Korra's grin never left her face as Asami slid into the seat across from her. Before Asami had walked up, Korra had been browsing the coffee shop's small book selection that they had. She wasn't much of a reader, but she thought that reading would be another way to keep her mind busy and learn more. She had filtered through the books until she was able to spot one. It caught her eye and she grabbed it, taking it back to her table. In those small 15 minutes before Asami had shown up she began reading the first chapter. She put it down when she thought she spotted Asami's car pulling up and began looking out the window thinking about what she just had read.

"How you been?" Korra asked as Asami sat down. It's been a couple weeks since they last saw each other so there was much needed catching up to do. Asami was about to answer when the waitress came up to get their order.

"Hi, ladies what will you be having today, or do you all need a minute?" The waitress, Ino, as labeled on her name tag, asked. Korra took the liberty of looking at Asami signaling that she could order first. Asami nodded her head and looked up at the waitress.

"Let me get a Mocha Latte, and a Cheese Danish." She said, finishing out.

"Alright, and for you?" Ino said, turning her attention toward Korra.

"Uhh, I will have a White Mocha Latte and a Chocolate Chip Cookie. Oh, and can you put extra whip cream in it?" Korra ended.

"Yes, I can do that for you, and will both be hot?"

"Mmmhm." They both said in union. Ino nodded and walked away to fill their order.

"Sooo, how ya been?" Korra repeated, uninterrupted this time. She stared fully at Asami as she does, always in awe of her baby mother. Asami smiled at the noticed stare and tucked a strand behind her ear.

"I have been great! Work has been a headache since I went back but I'm glad to be back in the swing of things. We are supposed to be unveiling the new Sato Laptop in the next two weeks so it's crunch time. What about you?" Asami asked.

"Ahh, the new Sato Laptop, huh? I can't wait to get my hands on one, maybe even buy in bulk to fill the whole office, hmm." Korra said fake thinking, knowing she would buy them.

"Wow really?" Asami asked, shocked. "I may even give you a discount." Asami said, smiling.

"Yes really we need the latest and fastest laptops and desktops to make sure our company can keep up. I'll write a check out, no doubt. But, about how I've been. I have been great lately honestly. Being that it was my first day of work and I had to get up early, I was still excited. Not only because of that but because of you and the boys. I definitely had fun on the 'pig out' night." Korra said, finishing up. Asami chuckled remembering their pig out night two weeks ago.

"I honestly don't think the boys and I ever had a night that fun, it'll definitely go as the best one in the books." Asami said. She had looked down at the table and spotted a book lying on the table next to Korra. "Andddd, speaking of books, what do you have there?" Asami said, acknowledging the book.

"Oh! This?" Korra says picking up the book to show Asami. "It's called 'Black in America'. With everything that's been going on in America and being Black myself, I wanted to learn more about how systemic racism really affects me... and the boys. I know they are only half black and water tribe, but they do have a darker shade of skin just like myself and I want to make sure they are protected from this world. I know it doesn't sound much coming from me now, since I just came back, but now I can't only think about how this affects me but our children too, since they will be Black men one day." Korra said, rubbing the back of her neck. Asami was quiet for a while processing all of what Korra said.

"Sorry I didn't mean to-" Korra said

"No there is nothing to be sorry about this affects you and our boys on a daily basis which I cannot be blind too. I understand everything you mean, not being a Black person while having two boys who are seen as only black, I see how people look. I have been wanting to have this talk with them for a while but they are only 10 and I'm not sure how to tell two little boys that someday you grow from handsome and cute to a seemingly aggressive and angry man by majority of society. While they have yet to face racism while I am around, I know that there will be a day and that's something I- we should prepare them for." Asami finished out. Being with Korra who is Black and Water tribe she knew that these were things she would have to understand and help their boys through.

"Exactly! I want to read more about this so that when our sons do grow up, I can teach them about how society views and treats us." Korra said

"Definitely. If you don't mind, I'll get a copy also and maybe we could talk about it sometime? We could definitely come together on how to talk and guide the boys through these kinds of things." Asami said sincerely.

"I would definitely like that." Korra said. "Speaking of the boys, how are they? How is Kota, his suspension up yet?" Korra asked. Before Asami could respond the waitress came back with their drinks and food.

"Here you both are, your coffees and food. Let me know if you need anything else." Ino said.

"Will, do."

"Thanks!" Asami said. Ino walked away and Asami picked the conversation back up. "Both the boys are fine, the school hasn't called about Kato in a few weeks so fingers crossed. But Dakota went back to school last Monday. Of course, he had to apologize, which I don't think he should have, but as a mother I made him, but he also is required to type a paper about why fighting on school grounds is unacceptable. But they both are good. They talk about you constantly too. I guess you made a big impression on them. Dakota has been asking when you could come over again or if we all could go do something." Asami said, but not realizing Dakota may have a secret agenda.

"Yeah I don't think Kota was in the wrong, you know I'd say go do it again, but, but we are growing and learning." Korra says chuckling, reminding them both how hot headed she once was. "But what about the other boy and their mom? I know last time you were about to go punching on her just like Kota did her son." Korra said giggling. Asami rolled her eyes at such memory. She took a sip of her coffee and put it down.

"Well, what can I say, you come for my child I come for you, simple as that."

"Period!" Korra said and Asami motioned her hand across her neck.

"Period."

"But, how was your first day though? You didn't go into much detail about it. I know you told me you had a lot of interviews today. Did any one of them stand out?" Asami asked.

Korra somewhat froze at Asami's question. "Did anyone stand out" She slowly stated back to Asami. "Well hell yeah one of them stood the hell out!" Korra thought to herself about Ginger. She debated on whether or not she should tell Asami or if it even mattered. "Well yeah there were quite a few of the candidates who were very impressive, and I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't hired on immediately." Korra said trying to play it safe. She didn't quite understand why she felt like she was lying to Asami. Shit, she didn't really even know where they stood with each other at the moment. Are they girlfriends, wife and wife, just parents who are in a weird situation of co-parenting? Either way, she couldn't shake this lying feeling.

"Of course, you're gonna have people who are impressive but who really stood out to you?" Asami pressed on.

Korra debated in those few seconds if she should say something about it or not. In the end she chose to say something. "Well I would say this one lady, Ginger stood out, her resume was quite impressive, and she was very skilled in the very software we were looking for. But…" Korra trailed off loosening up her collared shirt.

"Buuutt, what?" Asami said somewhat sing-songy.

"Well, the way she went about her interview was quite particular. She seemed to think that flirting with me or making sexual innuendos were going to make her a shoe-in." Korra said trying to feel what kind of vibe Asami was giving off. She looked up at Asami and saw her taking a sip from her coffee. Asami raised an eyebrow and burst out laughing.

"Wait, you thought I'd be jealous of a half flirt hussy at an interview?" Asami said as she put down her cup?

"Well I-" Korra started

"Plus, I already have two boys by you in one try. Either way Korra, I'm in your life now no matter who you fuck or date." Asami finished off staring at Korra. A sinister sensual smile rose across Asami's repainted lips.

Was Korra supposed to be that turned on by what she said?

Korra and Asami pulled away from each other as Asami pecked one last kiss on Korra's lips. They had been going at since they stepped inside Korra's apartment. Nothing more than kissing and touching as if they weren't ready to take it to that level yet. Korra stared at Asami for the second time that evening. She could feel herself wanting more but she opted to tell herself to calm down. They sat next to each other and they tried to calm themselves down. Asami began looking around remembering that at the time she had seen Korra's apartment it was empty at the showing. But now that her eyes aren't clouded with Korra she was able to see how nice Korra had decorated the apartment.

"I love what you've done with the place. You designed it yourself?" Asami asked, still looking around.

"Yep, yep I'm not head of design at our company for no reason." Korra said, laughing softly. Asami got up walking around. "A tour, Ms. Korra?" She said.

Korra hopped up smiling "Sure!" Korra led her to the master bedroom showing her the gray and blue color scheme she used. She then led her to the main bathroom showing her how the color scheme carried in from the bedroom. She walked Asami back into the hallway and showed her the first guest bedroom. She opened it up and Asami walked in looking around.

"Why is this one set up as a kid's room?" She asked, noticing all the kid toys.

"Well... I know we aren't rushing things but the reason I got a three bedroom apartment was for the boys. I wasn't sure how close we were ever going to get or how long it would be before they knew I was their mother, so I catered these two rooms to the boys." Korra said, finishing out sitting on the bed. "I tried to cater it to the boy's taste. This would be Kato's room. I remember him telling me he loved basketball and race cars, so I tried to base it off of that." Korra stated.

"Well, I mean, it's beautiful and thank you for thinking about them this much." Asami said sitting next to Korra on the bed.

No problem. Asami?" Korra asked leaning back on the bed looking up at the ceiling.

"Yeah?" Asami asked joining her.

"Well what are we? I mean, we've said I love you many times, did the do and other things but I'm not sure what to call us. A situationship?"

Asami chuckled a bit. "I definitely think we are a little too old for a 'situationship'. But, why do you ask?" Asami said, looking over to Korra who was still looking up at the ceiling.

"Well because of what you said at the Café, you were talking about how you'd still be in my life if I dated or fucked another woman. But I don't want to be with another woman because I want you." Korra said looking back at Asami. Asami smiled and leaned in and kissed Korra.

"Well whenever you think it's the right time to ask me back out then I'll say yes." Asami got up and stood at the door frame. Korra leaned up grinning for the upteenth time that evening. "Come on let's go check out Dakota's room."

Korra got up and followed after her one true love.

A/N

So here is the next chapter. Short compared to the last but here it is! I will be doing a flashback chapter that shows the night Korra left, shoutout to Kikifresh17 for the idea. Also, I wanted to throw in today's racial inequalities that minorities, mostly black people, face around the world and America. I know some may say talking about racial problems to 10 year old seems young but being black, I've and many others have had to have those talks with our parents at a much younger age.

Also, I've updated other stories and I wanted to get you guys's opinions on if I should continue with Korra and Asami getting closer together or focus on the boys and Korra getting closer together. Either way, each one will carry the story. Please please review! They motivate me and make me happy!
