My Doc Darlings and Angel Mel C... I love you ladiesThanks for the reviews!
Isabella.
Today has me by the balls. It's Sunday, yet I feel like I've done more today than I have all week. All my laundry was done, house cleaned, food prepped, and I had just taken a forty-minute shower to scrub away the grime when the doorbell rang.
"Oh, my fuck! Couldn't you have called?" My ponytail whips around my face as I open my front door.
I meet curious blue eyes that match the smirk on Jasper's face. He's dressed in all black, his usual attire when he's been working.
"Client canceled, missed you… so I figured I'd stop by. I can always come back if you're ah… busy?" Jasper's gaze flutters around me, noticing the fact I'm not wearing a bra because he asks if I'm cold before I slap him across the chest.
"I'm not busy. I just finished my eternal to-do list. So what's up?"
I walk Jasper to the living room, where he flops down on my sectional, arms open wide over the back of the couch. He looks mighty and relaxed before his phone rings, and he starts muttering under his breath.
"Coffee, or wine?" I ask him. Today's just a regular Sunday, and I'm not working tomorrow.
"Wine," he starts as I walk toward the fridge. "Bring the fucking bottle."
I take my big wine glasses and carry them upside down to my coffee table, watching Jasper and the frown on his face.
"Talk to me, J. What's going on and why are they bothering you?" I sigh deeply and sink down into soft leather cushions that mold around the shape of my body. I pour us glasses that might be a little too full to be classy, but I think we both need it.
"Pins doesn't want to share…" He rubs his face, his lashlines clean from his usual eyeliner. "He fucking called me at work, and he is the one who canceled today."
"Seriously?" My eyes widen. "I thought you two had a contract?"
"We do… but he doesn't like me playing with Alice, even though he knows I don't just have one playmate." He sighs and grabs the long-stemmed glass, taking a decent sip before he swallows.
"Oh, man… drama already?" I wonder.
"I'm glad he told me, but he should have said something about monogamy when I asked him."
"Yeah… I mean, he should definitely have said something, but I also think the dude was starstruck when he arrived at your doorstep."
"Starstruck?" He looks at me funny. "Havoc, please. Fuck off."
"J, people look up to you. They adore the fuck out of you."
"Tell me about Alice." I smile, tucking one leg underneath me. Having Jasper around is always fun, no matter what the reason is.
"Tell me about Edward…" He retorts. I choke on my wine, my cheeks heating up.
"I need a smoke if you want to play it like that."
He doesn't need any more explanation but lifts himself off the couch and to the back porch. I wrap my cardigan around my torso, shielding myself from the cool wind.
"Brought us some nice, fresh green leaves," he whispers. I glance at him with a serious look on my face before he slides the joint under his nose, and as he ends with a chef's kiss, I burst out laughing.
"Wow. Even better than nicotine," I say.
Jasper shoots me a wink.
"Mixed with nicotine…" He winks.
"Fuck, you know just what a girl needs." I lean my head against his chest, grateful for the genes of Rose and Jasper, and that they even tolerate me.
Jasper lights up as we sit our asses down on the porch steps, and he takes a deep drag before savoring the hit and letting go.
"Can I ask something?" I stare unseeing, at the overgrown bushes in the back of the yard. When Jas doesn't immediately answer me, I continue. "You've switched before."
"Yeah, babe. Of course I have." He snickers. "Besides..." he gives me an investigating look before handing me the joint "...you have, too."
"That's not true."
"Yeah it is. You used to sub, now you top. That makes you experienced in both sides. And, you tried it again. Didn't you?"
I roll my eyes. "I swear, Rose better learn to shut her damn mouth…"
"You told her?" he asks, genuine surprise written all over his face.
"She didn't tell you?" I frown.
"My sister is a tomb. I'd have to be on my fucking deathbed before she tells me some of her secrets."
"Then wh—" The pieces of the puzzle fall in place. "Oh, hell… did he really come and talk to you about me? Man, you two are just gossip queens."
"It was nothing like that, and I only listened to what he wanted to get off his chest," he says.
"I don't want to know." I shake my head, snagging the premium joint from between Jasper's fingertips, taking a deep drag that makes me feel like I'm floating.
"You're gonna avoid him forever? Avoid my club?" Jasper acts wounded with his hand over his heart, while he huffs.
"I—" I start, pausing to take a deep breath. I release it, frustrated as fuck, groaning as I throw my head back. "Fucking Ginger," I mutter.
"Baby, baby, baby…" Jasper sighs. "Trust me when I say you should give him a chance. You never know what you can get out of it. Maybe you'll connect again—for real—with someone who fucking appreciates you." I stare at my handsome friend, wide-eyed and speechless. He seems quite taken with Edward Masen. "He's got the hots for you, girl. Seriously. Give it a shot."
"What, he might surprise me?" I wonder, arching a brow at him as I whip my head in Jasper's direction.
"He might, yeah." Jasper nods.
Oh baby Havoc... She's got no idea what's gonna happen. Do you?
