The new articles about the premiere have me stressed, so I had to polish this one up before it aired. Otherwise, I don't think I'd be motivated to finish it.

Thanks for following along!

Kat barreled into the breakroom and braced herself against the door as it closed behind her. "Rollins and Carisi are sleeping together!" She blurted out.

Fin, who was sitting alone at the table, eating a piece of pizza all but choked on his lunch. "I'm sorry, what?" He asked, eyes bulging.

Kat looked over her shoulder, and when she was satisfied that no one else appeared to be heading towards the breakroom, she walked over to sit down across from him.

"You heard me."

There was a time when Fin would have wagered that Carisi was Billie's father. He remembered sitting in this very breakroom, eating pizza with Carisi, as he tried to gossip like a school girl and fish for clues about the identity of Rollins's baby's father. Carisi denied knowing who it was, and a large part of Fin was hoping that he was just bluffing. He wanted the best for Amanda, and even though he liked to give Carisi a hard time, he knew that Carisi was the best for her.

"No, they aren't. He has a girlfriend, Kat. We met her - pretty activist that hates cops?" Fin reminded her. "Carisi may have introduced her as a friend, but we all know that was BS."

"I think he has a girlfriend, yes, but I think it's Rollins and not Nicole."

"And just exactly how did you come to this conclusion?" Fin inquired. "When would it even have happened?"

"I think Carisi and Nicole broke up around Memorial Day. I heard him fighting with her on the phone for like three days straight."

"You think they broke up almost six weeks ago and Carisi never told us? I'm not buyin' it." He shook his head.

"Carisi never told us because Nicole is a decoy in this situation now. It's to keep us off the trail of him and Rollins, but obviously it didn't work. I figured it out," she said triumphantly.

"Wait a second." He held up a hand. "Carisi said somethin' about makin' reservations at that new French bistro last week. He implied he was taking a date. Nicole."

"He never said he was taking Nicole. We just assumed it was Nicole. And you know what they say about assuming..." she snorted. "They played us, Fin."

"No way," he argued. "Amanda was sittin' right there when he said that about the bistro. She told him to let her know how it is. She wanted to bring her mom for her birthday."

"Her poker face is as good as the counselor's."

"They've barely said two words to each other when they see each other in the bullpen or the courthouse. Carisi hasn't dropped off random coffees for her, and Rollins hasn't been offering to bring paperwork to his office in weeks. They're fighting – probably over the fact he didn't tell her about Nicole."

"They're not fighting, they're sneaking around."

"What else you got?"

"When I was first transferred here, I was convinced those two were a thing. It's like they were always having eye-sex, you know? Their level of eye contact's unreal. She hangs on his every word, calls him "Counselor," ... and he usually sits on the edge of her desk, and alternates between staring at her lips or never breaking eye contact with her when she speaks. They kept that up even when I'm sure he was seeing Nicole, and then all of the sudden it just stops?"

"Because Carisi is a good guy and if he is seeing Nicole, he would never do anything that appears untoward."

Kat shook her head. "No, it stopped because now they have intimate knowledge of each other and they're afraid if they look at each other like that still, they'd jump each other's bones right in the middle of the bullpen."

Fin let a beat pass before he spoke. "I'm still not convinced, but I do think this is an avenue that can be pursued to get to the truth."

"So, what do we do? How do we bust 'em? I bet Jessie would spill the beans...I can see if Rollins will let me take her out for ice cream or somethin'."

Fin shook his head. "No. Rollins would kill us if we used her kid for intel on her alleged relationship with Carisi. We gotta do somethin' else." Fin thought about it for a second. "We could tail them?"

Kat wrinkled her nose. "That's borderline illegal, Fin. That's like stalker territory."

"We tail suspects every day!"

"Yeah, but these are our friends! We could roll up at her apartment bright and early Sunday morning and see if Carisi's there?"

Fin nodded and gave Kat a friendly slap on her shoulder. "Come up with a good reason why you and I would both need to be at her apartment on a Sunday morning and you've got yourself a deal, Tamin. 'Cause if these two are shackin' up, I gotta witness this takedown firsthand, too."
