Chapter 16

Puffin and Whizzer were currently flying high in the sky. They had left Swan lake the following day after Rothbart had given them a mission to spy on the enemy in Chamburg. It was late in the evening and they were scanning the ground for any sign of enemy activity. They were high enough in the sky to avoid detection from possible foes on the ground, but low enough to be able to see if there was anything to spot below. But Puffin's mind wasn't too focused at the moment as his thoughts were on their departure earlier that day.

They were leaving around midday so as to arrive at Chamburg around nightfall, making it easier to sneak in without being discovered. But before they left, they were bidding their friends farewell. Everyone wished them luck on their mission. Jacob was quite surprised to hear that these two birds were taking part in such a mission. But he smiled at then nevertheless.

"You are doing your kingdom a great service," the king said to them proudly. Puffin and Whizzer both gave a salute. Derek took a step closer and knelt down so as to be closer to his friends.

"I just want you two to know," he said, "that we have the utmost faith in you. You both have done so much for this kingdom and we couldn't be more proud. You even saved me from my own stupidity on multiple occasions. If it weren't for you both, I might not be here today." The two birds were very please to hear that the prince held them in such high regards and appreciated all that they have done for him.

"Of course my prince," Puffin said as he gave a slight bowed, Whizzer following suit. Derek smiled and wrapped his arms around the two birds.

"Be careful out there, okay?" he whispered. He then felt both of them nod their heads in reply.

"We will," Whizzer said. Derek pulled away before standing up and took a step back to join the others. Odette then stepped forward and knelt down as well.

"You both better come back safe and sound. You understand?" she said, trying to stop the tears from pouring out. Puffin and Whizzer both bowed their heads.

"We understand, Odette," Whizzer said. "Don't don't worry. I'll keep old Puffin here under control." Odette let out a small giggle as Puffin looked over at yaki-bird with a raised eyebrow, though a smile never left his face.

"Keep me under control?" he asked. "Says the one that was afraid of his own shadow when we first met." Whizzer gave Puffin a playful glare.

"That's when I had to serve a crazy old witch remember," he retorted. "You'd be afraid too if you had to hear that laugh every hour or so." Puffin shook his head.

"Pssh, that would scare me," he said with confidence. "I'd would have given her a 'Yah!' and and 'Hah!' And a little 'Wah-ha!'" He a kicked and punched the air as he shouted out, demonstrating what he would do the Zelda. Whizzer shook his head as he looked over at Odette while pointing at Puffin, still kicking and punching the air.

"See what I mean?" Odette, along with everyone else around them, couldn't help laugh at their playful banter. Even Puffin let out a little chuckle as well before wraping a wing around Whizzer.

"And you have come a long way since then," he said with a warm smile. "I'm very proud of you." Whizzer returned the smile.

"Well I had a good teacher," Whizzer replied. Odette's heart nearly melted at the touching moment they were sharing. She then suddenly leaned down and wrapped her arms around her two animal friends, catching in two off guard, mainly to hide the tears that were forming in her eyes.

"I'm going to miss you guys," she whispered softly. Puffin and Whizzer smiled and returned the embrace.

"We'll be back, Princess," Puffin said. "And

Speed then took his turn and stepped forward, with Jean-Bob sitting right on top of his shell.

"You guys take care of yourselves out there, okay?" Speed said slowly. Puffin and Whizzer nodded their heads.

"Don't you worry Speed," Puffin said confidently. "We'll be back before you know it." Speed smiled before looking back at Jean-Bob, who didn't look too happy for some reason as he sat with his arms crossed, not even looking in their direction.

"Well, Jean-Bob," the turtle said with a almost impatient tone. Jean-Bob sat silent on top of Speed's shell for a moment or so before letting out a loud sigh. He then jump down and landed in front of the two birds. He didn't say anything at first, he just stared at the two of them.

"You two are ridiculous," he said finally. Everyone stood wide eyed at what he just said. They weren't expecting him to say something so rude like that. "Just giant idiots."

"Jean-Bob," Derek said, but the little frog ignored him.

"Going off on a dangerous mission like this," he continued, with anger in his voice, "has got to be the most ridiculous plan you two have gotten yourselves into." Jean-Bob then clenched his hands into fists at his sides. Puffin seemed to notice this

"You two are the most stupid bird-brains I have ever met! You guys always have something to prove don't you?! Dying for such a noble cause like this?! Why does it have to be you two bird-brains?!" Tears were now forming in his eye so Jean-Bob shut them to keep them for spilling out. Everyone stood motionless as Jean-Bob went on his outburst. Nobody had ever seen Jean-Bob act like this before. Puffin and Whizzer stared at their green friend speechless. Neither one knowing what to do. It was almost scary to see Jean-Bob angry like this. Odette had her hands to her mouth in shock that Jean-Bob would say such things. She had her him say small insults to them before, but this was a whole new level. Derek was unsure of whether to be angry at Jean-Bob or shock. But he was too shocked to form a single word. But no one was as surprised to see this as Speed, who had know the little frog for such a long time. And never had he seen he oldest friend act like this before. And he couldn't understand why he was saying such horrible things to the two of the ones that care the most for him.

"Do you think so low of yourselves to risk your lives like this? Well don't expect me to feel sorry for you when you get yourselves killed!"

"Jean-Bob!" Speed said, wanting to stop this. But then something else happened that surprised him, and everyone else even more. Puffin had quickly wrapped his wings around the little frog and holding him tightly. Even Jean-Bob was surprised by this. But his arms seemed to have a mind of their own as he returned the embrace. It was in that very moment that Jean-Bob finally let loose his tears. He buried his head in Puffins chest and cried while Puffin held him close in comfort. Odette's heart practically melted at the sight of her two closest friends, who never seemed to get along about anything, sharing such a touching moment. Puffin and Jean-Bob stayed like that for a few moments until Jean-Bob was finally able to calm down. Realizing what he had just done, he practically pushed Puffin off of him and cleared is through.

"Well," the little frog said, "if you bird-brains get into trouble out there, don't expect me to come rescue you again." Puffin just smiled at his frog friend. he was glad to see him back to his old self. He then lowered himself into a mock bow.

"Of course your Highness," He said sarcastically. "Wouldn't want the great prince to get himself dirty, now would we?" Jean-bob scoffed at the black and white bird and turned his head away. But then a smile began to form on his face. Jean-Bob turned back towards his dear friend and held out his hand.

"Take care Puffin," he said in a genuine voice. This was completely unexpected to everyone who was watching, especially Puffin. But said bird was the first to recover and grasped the little frog's hand.

"No fear, Jean-Bob," he replied with his usual motto. Jean-bob rolled his eyes, still hating that saying. They shook hands for a brief moment before Puffin let go and stepped back. Jean-Bob then turned to Whizzer, who wasn't sure what was happening. Jean-Bob smiled and stretched his hand out to him. Whizzer looked at the hand for a moment before smiling and shaking his head. Jean-Bob was confused for a moment. But before he could do anything, Whizzer moved quickly and embraced him in a tight hug, catching him completely off guard. Jean-bob was in shock for a moment before attempting to push the yaki-bird off him, though not trying very hard.

"Hey!" Jean-Bob shouted. "Hands off the merchandise!" Whizzer laughed before finally letting the frog go and patting him on the head.

"See you around Princy," he said before stepping back. Jean-Bob just crossed his arms in a pout. Speed then walked over to Jean-Bob and nudged him with his head. The frog looked over at his old friend, who was smiling warmly at him. Jean-Bob couldn't help but smile as well before he hopped on top of the turtles back. Rothbart stepped forward and stood in front of Puffin and Whizzer.

"Your Kingdom bids you both farewell and wishes you a safe return," he said before saluting them. The two birds saluted as well before turning about face. They both extended their wings and began to flap them slowly. As they flapped their wings, they slowly stepped forward until they were at a steady pace. They lowered their heads and began to flap faster as they moved their legs faster to gain speed. They were now running and flapping as fast as their could, both keeping pace with one another, before they finally had liftoff. They were now in the air heading towards the direction of Chamburg. As they took flight in the air, Puffing couldn't help but look back at the people he was leaving behind, the people e had come to call family. Tears began to well up in his eyes, but he shook them away and faced forward. He was now on a mission of most importance, and nothing was going to keep his from completing this mission. He mind was completely focused now and nothing could stand in his way.

That was four hours ago. Now, all Puffin could think about was the family he had left behind. He let out a depressed sigh a the thought, a sigh that was loud enough to catch his companion's attention. Whizzer, who had been focus on flying, had heard his friends dressed sigh and looked over with concern.

"You okay there, Puffin?" he asked. Puffin, not realizing that he had let himself get distracted, shook his head quickly and looked towards Whizzer.

"I'm fine soldier," he said with confidence. "We are the kingdom's greatest warriors, sent on the most important mission of our lives." He then placed his wings in front of his face, leaving a small gap for his to see through, and made a menacing look.

"We'll infiltrate behind enemy territory." He then began to tiptoe through the sky behind a cloud, poking his head out on the other side. "Sneak in through their bases, find out whatever plans they have in store, and report back to the kingdom with grate hast." Puffin then proceeded to fly through the sky with his chest puffed out with confidence. Whizzer looked on at his companion, not quite sure on whether to believe him or not. But he decided to leave the matter alone as they continued to make their way towards Chamburg.

They continued on their way for close to an hour now and the sky just become cloudy, making it very difficult for the two birds to see where they were going.

"Puffin," Whizzer called, "I can't see a thing with all these clouds. Should we head for a lower altitude for better vision?"

"No," Puffin answered. "We can't risk the enemy spotting us and sounding the alarm."

"We're Birds!" Whizzer shouted. "They can't possibly raise an alarm for two birds!" Puffin still shook his head.

"Doesn't matter," he said. "We can't let anything risk jeopardizing the mission. We stay in the air above the clouds until we see the castle." Whizzer rolled his eyes before facing forward again, squinting as he did so. His main concern was not to crash into a mountain.

"I don't see how we can see the castle if was can even see at all!" They continued to fly through the closed, trying their best to see where they were going. But then the clouds became dark, and it was not only hard to see, but hard to breath. Two birds began to cough uncontrollably as they flew through, Whizzer more than Puffin.

"Is this smoke?" Whizzer asked as he couched terribly. Puffin's cough wasn't much better.

"I think so," he was able to say. "But we should be too high for any smoke to reach us.

"Well evidently not!" Whizzer shouted through viscous coughs. He tried to see where he was going, but the smoke was burning his eyes. "Can we land now?! I can't see or breath!"

"Just a little further," Puffin beckoned. The two bird continued to push through the smoke, no matter how much their lungs ached. Puffin was sure that they were close now, but he didn't know how much further. It was only a matter of time before their lungs gave out and they would plummet to the earth. But Puffin wasn't about to give up. He pushed Whizzer onward, hoping beyond hope that they would break free of the smoke. It was then that they finally broke free of the smoke.

"Oh finally!" Whizzer shouted in relief, still coughing up a storm. After finally breaking free of the smoke and able to breath, they tried to open their eyes. It took them a moment to finally open them. But once they did, they were horrified at what they saw.

They had finally reached Chamburg, or at least what was left of it. The landscape had been completely scorched of all life. Columns of smoke filled the air and the sky itself seemed blood red. The castle itself had changed so much. It no longer looked like the safe and welcoming castle that they had once knew, but a dark and twisted fortress. The town that surrounded the castle had all but been destroyed. A large stone wall surrounded the town and castle, looking as dark and evil as the castle did. But what shocked them the most were the pits that surrounded the castle and around the town, with each pit had in ominous glow within. It was a horrifying sight.

"Dear gods," Puffin said. Whizzer flew in beside him.

"No fear, right?"

Odette was in her room brushing her hair. She had been doing this for the passed hour. She really didn't need her hair brushed, she just trying needed to keep her mind at ease. She was worried sick about Puffin and Whizzer, wondering what troubles could have befallen her dear friends. She tried not to think of it, but because of her raging hormones, she couldn't stop thinking of the worst possible scenarios. She was nearly driving herself to insanity. But the worst part everything was not knowing. She practically threw the brush down on her vanity with a loud thud and sighed in frustration. She didn't know what to do and felt so helpless. She hated the feeling of being helpless. Odette leaned forward and placed her hands on her face. There hormones weren't helping either. Odette then looked down towards her stomach and he frustrations were dimmed greatly. She placed a hand on her baby belly and smiled.

"I wish you were out now so that at least I could hold something," she whispered. "You have no idea how much I want to see you." the room was silent for a moment as Odette pickured herself holding a newborn baby in her arms. A knock on her bedroom door broke the silence, causing Odette a brief moment of annoyance.

"Come in!" she called. Odette turned around as her bedroom door opened to find Bridgette standing in the doorway. Odette smiled at little old women.

"Yes," she said. Bridgette bowed her head before entering the bedroom.

"King King wants to see Odette," she said. "Says someone important want to speak with you." Odette bowed her head in acknowledgement before turning back to her mirror to continue brushing.

"Thank you Bridgette," she said. "I'll be down in just a minute." The little women bowed her head before exiting the bedroom and shutting the door. Odette continued to brush her hair for a few more minutes before setting the brush down and standing up. She looked herself over in the mirror to check for any imperfection before heading out the bedroom.

"A princess' duty is never done," she joked to herself before exiting the bedroom.

Odette descended down the stairs of the Castle Foyer to see Jacob, Rothbart, Derek, Joshua, Phillip, Lord Rogers and Uberta, Bridgette and Chamberlain standing near the bottom. Odette was curious as to what the commotion was so she quickened her pace a tad. Once she reached the bottom of the stairs, Jacob was the first to notice her and moved from the crowd to embrace her.

"How are you feeling Odette," Jacob asked. Odette returned the embrace as she smiled up at him.

"I fine, Uncle Jacob." Jacob raised an eyebrow as he smiled curiously at the young princess.

"It's been a while since you've called me that," he chuckled. "Now I'm a little concern." Odette rolled her eyes before noticing her husband and her smile brightened. She moved from Jacob to embrace her beloved Prince and share a pleasant kiss.

"Training go okay?" Odette asked. Derek nodded.

"Yeah," he answered, "but Jacob called us here to meet someone."

"Oh right," Odette said. She looked over at Jacob. "Who was it you wanted me to meet?" Jacob's face hardened a bit, but not so much to be noticed by anyone, except Odette. Odette was concerned by her uncle's reaction but decided to keep it to herself.

"Well," Jacob began, "we have a special guest here tonight." He looked over to Chamberlain and Bridgette. "You may let them in now."

"Yes, Sire," Rogers said before he, Chamberlain stuttered before he and Bridgette walked towards the Castle doors. Once there, Bridgette and Chamberlain each took a handle and began to pull the doors apart. Once the doors were open, a group of seven men were standing just outside, six of them cladded in full armor while the stood around the man in the center, obviously a man of importance. Lord Rogers then turned around to address everyone in the room.

"Allow me to introduce King Tiberius of the kingdom of Vanice." He then turned to face the king and bowed as he gestured for them all to enter. Odette, curious of these new visitors, began to study the man approaching. He seemed to be around the same age as Jacob, but with more white hair to go with his black and a small patch on his chin. He wore a leather tunic outfit with white sleeves at the bottom half. His pants seemed to be leather as well, and he carried a long sword on his left side. He also had a golden medallion around his neck that had a viper ready to strike on it. But what stood out to Odette the most were his eyes. His eyes were bright green that almost matched the eyes on his Viper medallion. Something seemed very off with this man, but Odette shook that feeling away and smiled at their guest. Once Tiberius and his men reached the other side of the foyer, the knights stopped where they were at while took another couple steps towards Odette and offered his hand to her. Odette, not wanting to be rude, place her own hand on Tiberius'.

"Princess Odette," he said in a voice that would charm most as he lowered his head to her hand. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance." He then kissed her hand. Odette smiled and nodded her head to him.

"Pleasure is mine," she said happily. But she then noticed at the corner of her eye that Jacob had a hard look on his face. She wondered what was bothering him but decided to ask him about it later. Tiberius stood up and turned his gaze upon Derek.

"And you must be Prince Derek." Tiberius stretched out his hand to Derek, who gladly shook it.

"It is a pleasure to have you in our kingdom, your Majesty," Derek said politely. Tiberius raised a hand as he chuckled as he shook his head.

"Please," he said, "let us not be so formal. You can simply call me Tiberius." Derek nodded.

"Of course. if there is anything you need, please let us know." Tiberius chuckled.

"I shall hold you to that," he said in a joking manner. "And I must congratulate you both on having your fist child." Tiberius nodded towards Odette's pregnant belly. Odette couldn't help but giggle as she placed both hands on her baby bump. Derek too place a hand his his lovely wife's belly as well.

"Thank you very much," Odette said happily. "We couldn't be happier." Tiberius smiled before he looked over to Uberta. He bowed and extended his hand to her as he did with Odette. Uberta gave Tiberius her hand, but only gave a slight curtsy.

"The lovely, Queen Uberta," Tiberius said. "Even more beautiful than legend has depicted you." He gently kissed her hand as Uberta smiled at the complement.

"You are a charmer, aren't you?" She asked with a flirty tone. Tiberius released Uberta's hand and stood straight.

"Just being a proper gentleman, my lady," he replied coolly. Unbeknownst to everyone, except Phillip, Jacob was glaring daggers at Tiberius for a quick moment before regained his composer. Tiberius then glanced over at the Enchanter. He studied him for a moment, as if he had seen him before but couldn't remember where. Then it hit him.

"You must be the Evil Enchanter," Tiberius asked with a pleasant tone. Rothbart's eyes instantly grew large as he was unsure of what to do. He was hoping that since he this man was from a far away kingdom that he wouldn't recognize who he was. Unfortunately that wasn't the case now. Everyone else in the room was also nervous as they had no idea what was to come next. Would Tiberius try to have Rothbart arrested for his crimes? Tiberius could see how nervous Rothbart, along with everyone else in the room, was and decided to torment the poor man no further.

"Relax my friend," he said. "'m not going cause you any harm. know that you are no longer evil. Word has spread that you have changed your ways and have joined the forces for good." Rothbart visibly let out a sigh of relief. He then extended a hand to the King of Vanice, who immediately accepted it.

"I am very glad to here that," he said happily as he shook the king's hand. "You will be most welcomed here."

"And I am glad to here that," Tiberius smiled. He then noticed Jacob and his General.

"Ah, Jacob and Phillip," he exclaimed. "How nice to see you again." Jacob and Phillip both glanced at once another, both resisting the urge to glare at him. Instead, Jacob smiled and extended his hand to the other king.

"A pleasure to see you as well, Tiberius," Jacob said, with a hint of disdain in his voice that only Phillip was able to catch, as he shook Tiberius' hand.

"We wish you a warm welcome here at Swan Lake, Sire," Phillip added.

"I feel welcomed already," Tiberius smile. Odette looked over at Joshua and leaned in to whisper.

"They know each other?" she asked quietly. She then noticed how uncomfortable Joshua looked. "Are you okay?" Joshua looked down at Odette with a uncomfortable smile.

"I'll tell you about it later," he whispered. Odette was even more curious than she was before and wanted to know what was going on. But she decided that now wasn't the best time as Tiberius stepped closer to her and Derek once more.

"I'm sure my visit here will be most gratifying," Tiberius said with a pleasant grin. Odette couldn't help but returned the smile.

"We are please to have you here," Odette said kindly. "And what brings you all they way out here, if I may ask?" Tiberius was about to answer when a loud groaning noise came from behind.

"Father!" said a voice, "must we linger further with such trivial questions? I'm famished and would like something to eat." Everyone looked towards the front of the Foyer where they saw a young boy walking towards them with a big blue fan. He had Black hair like his father and had the same green eyes. His outfit looked to be a golden silk tunic with reddish brown leggings. Odette and Derek both looked at one another before returning their gaze upon the boy. Tiberius let out a soft sigh before facing the prince and princess once more with a smile.

"You'll have to forgive my son Jason," Tiberius said. "We've been on the road for such a long while and he's just a tad tired from the long journey." Odette and Derek nodded their understanding.

"Of course," Odette said. "You both must be starving. We'll have a meal prepared for you both as soon as possible."

"Already taken care of, Odette" said Lord Rogers, gaining everyone's attention. "Once I heard that we were having guest I had the Chef prepare a delicious meal for tonight. We'll be having roasted pork with a side of mashed potatoes. A nicely served Duck stew and a variety of vegetables. Dinner will be served withing half an hour." Derek raised an eyebrow at Rogers.

"Wow," he said impressed. "You really work fast, don't you Rogers." Rogers waved his had at him.

"Just doing my job," he said before addressing everyone. "Now if Everyone would follow me, I'll show you tow where the-"

"We know where the dining room is you busted old clock!" Uberta shouted as she walked passed Rogers and towards dinning room. Rogers glared at Uberta and stomped his foot.

"Can't you let me be a good host?!" Uberta looked back at him with a smug look.

"Not really," was all Uberta said as she continued walking, with everyone following suit. Rogers' glare hardened as he too headed towards the dining hall with his arms crossed.

Dinner had been served right as Rogers had said it would. There was everything that he said and more. Everyone had taken a seat around the table and were now enjoying their food. Everyone was silent for a moment before Odette decided to speak out.

"It is such a pleasure have you here with us," she said. "But what brings you here all the way from Vanice?" Tiberius, after swallowing his food, wiped his mouth with a napkin before speaking.

"Well," he began, "I am actually here to assist you my dear." Odette looked curiously at Tiberius.

"Assist us?" She asked. Tiberius nodded.

"Of course. Rumor has it the a new Dark Lord as emerged and seeks to destroy the world. Now I personally do listen to such nonsense, but once I heard that the Dark Lord had a sister that lived in a small kingdom, well I just had to see for myself if these rumors were true." This time it was Jacob who spoke up.

"And may I ask as to what you were hoping to find?" he asked. Odette noted the tiniest hint of disdain in his voice as he spoke to Tiberius. Said king gave a slight chuckle in reply.

"I wasn't hoping to find anything," he said. "I had simple heard talk of how the Dark Lord intended to harm his younger sister. Then I thought, if these rumors were indeed true, then we have great cause to fear. But if the Dark Lord is willing to harm his own family, they she must be someone in need of allies."

"And you wish to be such and ally?" Jacob asked, not sounding so convinced. Tiberius nodded his head.

"Of course, I had also heard rumors of the legendary Swan Princess who defeated the Forbidden Arts. So once i found out these these two rumors were about the very same princess, then why shouldn't we be allies in the fight against evil, should war be inevitable?" Jacob and Phillip glanced at one another for a moment, giving each other uncertain looks.

"We really aren't in the position to be picky with our allies," Phillip said. Tiberius chuckled, causing the both of return their attention back to him.

"Indeed you are not," he said with a confident tone. "There aren't many of those who would be willing to rise against such odds. We cannot take the chance of risking certain doom upon ourselves. We can only depend on each other."

"I wholeheartedly agree!" Derek said. Jacob looked over at the young prince.

"You do?" he asked. Derek nodded.

"Absolutely," he answered strongly before turning back to Tiberius. "Tiberius is absolutely right. We must stand together against Sargon if we are to have any hope of defeating him."

"Sargon?" Tiberius asked. "Is that the Dark Lord's name?" Odette was the one to speak next.

"Yes," she said. "He is a horrible monster

"I won't lie to you, the rumors are true. The Dark Lord Sargon is a powerful enemy. He has vast armies of monsters that you wouldn't believe exist. And he seeks to destroy this world." Tiberius looked intensively at Derek, listening to every word he says.

"He really is that powerful?"

"Not only that," Derek continued, "but his skills are immeasurable. I was unfortunately caught up in my own emotions and challenged his to a duel." Derek lowered his head. "And I lost."

"But he spared you?" Tiberius asked. Odette place a hand on her husband's.

"If it were not for my dear friends," she said, "Derek wouldn't be here now." Tiberius nodded in acknowledgement.

"I see," he said. "You must be lucky enough to have such devoted servant willing to sacrifice themselves for you."

"They aren't servants," Odette said. "They are my best friends. Jean-Bob, Speed, Whizzer and Puffin." Tiberius had a curious expression on his face.

"Puffin?" he asked. Realizing that he was unaware who they were, Odette slightly giggled at herself.

"Yes, forgive me. Jean-Bob the frog, Speed the turtle, Whizzer the yaki-bird, and Puffin the... well, puffin." Tiberius was silent for a moment as he just stared at Odette, not sure if he was hearing her right. But the a loud, spitting sound was heard next to Tiberius as Jason had just spit his food out from laughing, landing across the table, and all over Rothbart, who was not amused at all. Everyone stared at the young teenager as he made no effort to hold in his amusement.

"You mean to tell me," he said between laughs, pointing at Derek, "that you were rescued by a bunch of animals? Either these beasts are the most dangerous creatures in the world, or this Dark Lord isn't as powerful as you make him out to be and your just as weak." He continued to laugh as everyone was shock at how rude this child was being. Derek, whose eyes were wider than the plates he ate on, narrowed his eyes at the disrespectful boy. Tiberius, however was the one to speak up.

"Jason!" Tiberius shouted. "Have you forgotten your manners! That is completely disrespectful. Apologies to our hosts this instant!" Jason immediately ceased his laughter at his father's voice. He looked at his father for a moment, knowing that he was serious, before standing up from his chair and bowed toe the prince and princess.

"My apologies, your Majesties," he said as genuinely as he could. "I'm am just tired from the journey here and have forgot my place. please accept my humblest apologies." Derek and Odette glance at each other for a moment before turning back to the young prince.

"Of course," Odette said. I remember how cranky I would get when I went on long travels at you age. Once your finished eating, I'm sure Lord Rogers would like to show you to your quarters." Jason bowed once more.

"Thank you your grace," he said. "I would like to retire now, if that is okay with you father." Tiberius looked at his son for a moment before nodding his head, still keeping the angry look on his face. Rogers then took the opportunity to ease the tension by standing up and lead Jason out of the dining hall.

"If you will just follow me, you master, I will be more than happy to show you to your room."

"Thank you very much," Jason said as he proceeded to follow the old lord out of the room. Once they were out of the room, Tiberius let out a tired sigh.

"You'll have to forgive him," he said. "He hasn't been the same since his mother fell ill." Odette place her hand over her mouth as she was all too familiar with the lose of a parent.

"Oh, I'm so sorry," she said. "Will she be able to recover?" Tiberius shrugged his shoulders.

"We're not sure," he admitted. "She's been sick for over a year now. I'm praying that she gets better soon."

"We're terribly sorry to hear this," Rothbart said. "If there is anything we could do, please let us know." Tiberius smiled at Rothbart and nodded his thanks.

"Thank you my friend," he said before standing. "Now if you'll all will excuse me, I must retire myself. The journey was indeed long and I am in terrible need of rest."

"Of course," Odette said. "I'm sure Rogers will be along to show you to you chambers. If you wait just a moment, He will be along shortly." Tiberius lifted one hand.

"No need," he said. "I'm sure I will find him shortly. I also would like to have a word to two with my son." Derek and Odette nodded their understanding.

"As you wish, Your Majesty," Derek said. Tiberius shook his head.

"I thought we agreed not to be so formal," he said with a chuckle. Derek scratched the back of his neck sheepishly, where as Jacob just rolled his eyes.

"Right, of course," Derek said.

"Goodnight, Tiberius," Odette said as she waved off. Tiberius bid everyone a goodnight before heading out of the room and making his way towards the his chambers. He went down a few hall, climbed a few flights of stairs and down another few halls. Once he rounded another corner he almost collided into Lord Rogers.

"Oh! Your Majesty!" Rogers said startled. "Forgive me, your grace. I wasn't expecting to see you there." Tiberius waved off the apology.

"Think nothing of it," he said with a grin. "I must speak with my son. Can you show me to his chambers?" Lord Rogers nodded his head quickly.

"Yes, Sire," he said as he pointed to down the hall behind him. "He's just down this hall on the last door to your right. An excellent view of the lake if i do say so myself." Tiberius smiled at the lord.

"Thank you very much," he said as he passed the old lord. "Goodnight Lord Rogers."

"Goodnight King Tiberius." With that, Rogers turn back and made his way down the hall. Tiberius stopped at the door Rogers had told him where his son was staying at and knocked three time.

"Yes?" said an annoyed tone. Tiberius frowned.

"It's you father," he said in a stern voice. Not even a second later the bedroom door was swung open.

"Father," Jason said, looking concerned. Then the boy gave his father a sly grin. "My mother ill?" Tiberius frowned some more.

"Well I had to think of some excuse for your stupid behavior," he said as he walked passed his son, with Jason shutting the door behind him.

"Well that's gonna be hard to explain when mother really isn't ill." Tiberius sat down on one of the two chairs next to a table.

"And they won't find out," he said simply. "And should that happen, We'll just say that it was a miraculous recovery." Tiberius then crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"But we do need to discuss your behavior, young man." Jason sighed as he mad his way over to the unoccupied chair next to his father.

"I'm sorry, Father," he apologies. "But I don't see why we need to associate with these people. Couldn't we just ally with Sargon right now?" Tiberius pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance.

"You have a lot to learn my son," he explained. "I we were to ally with the Dark Lord right away, then our enemies would rally against us so fast that our kingdom would be destroyed faster than you can cry." Jason narrowed his eyes at his father.

"I don't cry," he protested.

"No, you just whine like a brat," Tiberius countered. "You have to show your decent side to your enemies if you wish to have them do want you want. You have much to learn in the art of deception. Fortunately, I was able to come up with an excuse for your ridiculous behavior." Jason rolled his eyes as he sat back in his chair.

"Fine," he sighed. "What would you like me to do?" Tiberius leaned in closer to his son.

"For now, just be yourself. But not too much like yourself. I don't want them growing suspicious of your drastic behavior so fast. But so try to be friends with the Prince and Princess. It will help us in the long run if we can find out their secrets." Jason thought about this for a moment.

"And what about the pathetic king, Jacob?" he asked. Tiberius smiled wickedly.

"I'll deal with him and his lackey," he said. "If I can gain his trust, his kingdom will soon be ours for the taking. Just as it should have been long ago." In that moment, a knock came at the bedroom door. Both Tiberius and Jason sat straight in their chairs.

"Come in!" Tiberius bedroom door opened and in came the physician Edward. Tiberius' wicked smile returned to his lips.

"Ah, my friend," he said as he stood up to great the physician. "How have things been." The old man smiled as he bowed to the king.

"Everything is as planned, you Highness," he answered.

"Did you bring the vile?" The Old physician reached into his robe and pulled out a small vile of black liquid.

"The vile of a Blackburn Viper," he said. "The deadliest venom known to man." Tiberius' smile widened as he took the vile from Edward.

"Good, good. Now all we need is a fool to play as our pawn."

"And I think I know just the fool," Edward chimed in. Tiberius raised an eyebrow at the old man.

"Do tell," he said slyly. Edward smiled.

"His still lingers near the castle," he explained. "The prince disrespected and humiliated him in front of so many noble. I'm sure he would love for some revenge with a little persuasion."

"Who?" Tiberius asked, starting to grow impatient.

"His name is Lord Borrious."

The sky was growing dark as Puffin and Whizzer flew down into the town. They had been surveying the area from the sky to determine where best to start. They were cautious as to not draw attention to themselves. They flew in from above, using the smoke as cover as they descended towards the rooftops. From there, both Whizzer and Puffin were able to sneak down to ground level. They examined the area they were in, finding it completely devoid of life. It was very unsettling. The buildings that made up the town were burnt to a crisp. Part of Puffin was heart broken by the sight. This was once a happy place for people to live in peace. Now it was a place of death. Puffin thought that there was nothing for them here and motioned for them to move one. They slunk around the town, hiding behind whatever they could find to stay out of sight. Thanks to their small size, it wasn't that hard.

They turned the corner of a street of what seemed to be the market street due to the chard remains of stands on each side of the road when they heard the sound of marching behind them. Thinking quickly, Puffin pulled Whizzer behind a stand and inside an empty crate. They waited as they heard the noise grow louder. Puffin noticed a small hole in the crate and peered through it. Now he had a clear view of the street and could hear the noise more clearly now; it was the sound of heavy marching. It was then that Puffin could see a whole company of Goblins marching in formation down the street. There must have been at least eighty as far as Puffin could see. But something was different about these Goblins. They had far more armor then the one that attacked Swan Lake did. And it didn't look like scales or leather like before. They were completely dressed in armor now, looking far more intimidating.

Puffin and Whizzer waited until they could no longer hear the company of Goblins. Puffin raised the crate a little and poked his head out, checking to see if the coast was clear. Seeing that there was no sign of trouble, Puffin lifted to crate completely, allowing Whizzer to slide through before he gently placed the crate back down. They then slowly made their way passed the market street and further into town. But the further they went, the more Goblins they saw. Again, they were all dressing in the same armor. Puffin tried to count how many Goblins they came across, but decided that it was futile. But then they could see one of the giant pits. Puffin knew that it would be important to investigate one of these pits and find out what the were for. He motioned for Whizzer to follow him closer to the pit. But as they drew closer, they could hear the sounds of metal clanging. But another, and excruciating sound they could hear were the painful moans of people along with the sound of cracks down below. They could see a rope bridge hanging above the pit that lead across and decided that it would be a good vantage point to see down below. Deciding to risk being spotted, they flapped their wings and flew towards the bridge, landing in the center. It was smokey, but this time it was bearable and they could still see into the pit. They lowered themselves flat onto the planks and peered between. What they saw unnerved them.

The ominous glow they saw from above were fires that spread throughout the pits, giving off an unpleasant glow as it reflected off the smoke. Down below, they could see hundred of people all moving through the pit, which they realized now were actually mines. Massive tunnel systems could be seen going in every direction. They could see men swinging pickaxes along the wall, making metal-like clanging sounds as they made contact. Other men and women were seen moving large rocks and carts filled with debris to other parts of the mines. Puffin and Whizzer could even see small children down there. And every so often they would see Goblins with whips lashing at them. The sound of the people's agony was extremely unnerving. The rope bridge suddenly started to move. Puffin and Whizzer looked up to see at least five goblins walking across the bridge. Fortunately they hadn't been spotted yet, but if they took of they would surely be. Puffin looked around to see how they could escape, until he looked down. An idea formed in his head as he tapped Whizzer on the shoulder to get his attention. Whizzer looked over at Puffin with a scared expression, hoping that he had a plan. He got his answer when Puffin squeezed between the planks of the bridge and was now hanging beneath them. Whizzer followed soon after just in time before the Goblins could catch them. They were now both hanging with their wings and feet clinging to the wooden planks. The Goblins were now passing over the two birds, unsuspecting of their presence. Just before they were overhead, Puffin looked over at Whizzer and nodded downward. Whizzer, understanding what he had in mind, nodded his head in understanding.

Then, at the same exact time, they both released their grip on the planks and descended down into the pits. They then extended their wings and began to glide through the air. They used the smoke filled air as cover to move through their surroundings practically unseen. They continued to survey the area as they slowly began to descend towards the ground. But all they could see were hundreds of people working as slaves in these mines. But They needed to find a safe place to land before they were too close to the ground or were discovered. Puffin, after seeing a perfect place to land, lead Whizzer to a large pile of trees on the far corner of the mine. Slowly coming to a halt, they were able to land safely inside a small crevice within the wood pile. Puffin then poked his head outside to make sure that they hadn't been spotted.

"Alright," Puffin said softly as he quickly poked his head back in, "We should be safe for now."

"Are you sure this is the safest place?" Whizzer asked worriedly. Puffin nodded.

"Yes, now lets move further in." Puffin walked passed Whizzer, who looked around uncomfortably before following. After a few moments of pushing through the branches, they came across a small clearing that gave both of them enough room to move. Puffin then smiled as he arched his wings on his sides confidently.

"This will be the perfect base of operation," he said as he looked around. Whizzer looked around as well, unsure of it.

"Why here?" he asked.

"The branches and leaves provide us with the perfect cover. And with the smell from the pines and sap, they wont be able to catch our sent."

"But wouldn't they be using these trees as fuel for the fires?"

"Not anytime soon. These trees were freshly cut, which means they wont burn hot enough for whatever purpose they need." Whizzer looked around once more, still not convinced.

"I still don't know," he said as he rubbed the back of his neck. Puffin rolled his eyes.

"Fine," he said annoyed. "A temporary base until we came fine somewhere better." Puffin then began to clear a few of the branches to make more room. Whizzer soon joined in helping clear the space. They even took a couple stones that were large enough for them to sit on and placed then in the center of their little room. Puffin then placed a small bundle of the driest leaves and twigs he could find and placed them in between the two stones. once they were in place, Puffin took out two slightly larger sticks and began to rub them together. Once Whizzer saw what Puffin was up to, he began to panic.

"What are you doing?! Are you trying to burn alive in here?" Puffin smiled as looked up at this companion.

"No fear, Whizzer," he said, still rubbing the sticks together. "I'm only shedding some light in here. I wont let it get big enough to where it can set this place on fire. Anyways, these trees are still to wet to catch on fire from a little spark." Whizzer wasn't sure how to reply to this, but his nerves were still shaking as he looked around panicky. Finally, Puffin was able to get the sticks to start smoking a little. He looked at the sticks and saw a small ember forming. He then quickly, but gently, placed ember inside the small bundle and began to blow softly. Soon, he was able to get small fire going, just enough to bring some light rather than heat. Puffin, feeling satisfied with himself, took a seat on one of the stones. Whizzer finally relaxed a little when he realized they weren't going to be burned alive, took a seat across from Puffin.

"Alright," Puffin said. "Let's review what we've discovered so far. Chamburg has been completely destroyed and turned into an evil fortress. There are mines that underneath the town. And the people that once lived here have now been turned into slaves."

"What could they be mining?" Whizzer asked. Puffin began to puzzle.

"We'll Find out soon. But my best guess would be iron." Whizzer thought on Puffin's words for a moment before nodding his head in agreement.

"They must be preparing for a mass invasion," Whizzer said. Puffin nodded as well.

"But that must mean that there are thousands of Goblins in Chamburg. Far more than we have seen before."

"Do you think this is enough to return back to Swan Lake?" Whizzer asked. Puffin immediately shook his head no.

"We have to confirm our theory before returning back. Rothbart and King Jacob would never accept just a theory without proof to back it up." Whizzer thought about this for a moment, then sighed.

"Alright," he said. "What do we do then?" Puffin was silent for a moment, which caused a little concerned for Whizzer.

"We have to see what else is out there," he said finally. Whizzer's look of concern turned to worry. He wasn't sure if he wanted to go back out there and risk getting captured. He took a quick glance around the brush that they hid within. It reminded him of home and felt unnerved at the thought of leaving it. Here he was safe, for a while at least. Out there was nothing but danger. After almost getting caught on multiple occasions, he wasn't sure he was ready to go back out there. Puffin seemed to notice Whizzer's worry and stood up to place a wing on his comrade's shoulder. Whizzer looked up to see Puffin giving him a thumbs up and a confident smile.

"Don't worry, Whizzer," Puffin said proudly. "As long as we stick together, we can make it through anything. No Fear!" Puffin punched the air above him and stood proud in front of Whizzer. Whizzer looked up at he friend before a smile grew on his face. He then had a confident smile of his own as he jump from his seat and punched the air as well.

"No Fear!" he shouted, though not too loudly.

Puffin and Whizzer poked their heads out of the wood pile. They looked from left, to right, and even over, to make sure the coast was clear. They then slowly tip toed out of the brush and hid behind a large rock. They continued this process, tip toeing and hiding behind rocks and stones. Then they finally stopped and hid behind one stone that lay not four meters from a road of slaves. Puffin and Whizzer peeked from behind the stone, but stayed low enough not to be seen, and watched as the people were forced to carry large stones and push large carts towards further down in the tunnels.

"We have to see where they're going," Puffin said. He then noticed one of the carts coming close by. he tapped Whizzer on the shoulder to get his attention before pointing towards the cart. Whizzer only nodded to confirm he understood. Once the cart was closer enough, Puffin and Whizzer immediately jumped from their hiding place and very quickly climbed into the cart, hiding amongst the rocks. Puffin then took the time to study the rocks. Upon examination, he confirmed that it was indeed iron ore that they were mining. Which meant that one of their theories was correct. Now they just had to find out if their second theory was correct as well.

Puffin and Whizzer waited in the cart for a few minutes, but then they heard the sound of animal like grunting close. They peeked over the front of the cart and saw a Goblin making its way towards the cart. They quickly buried themselves under the iron ore, just enough to remain hidden from sight. Puffin however did manage to make sure that he could see out of the ore. The Goblin that they saw came over and stopped the cart, cracking the whip he had at the male slave that pushed the cart. The Goblin then began to examine the ore, taking a few lumps to inspect them further. The Goblin then took one ore that was right next to Whizzer, reveling a small patch of his feathers. Whizzer was sweating under his feathers as he was sure that they were going to get caught now. Fortunately the Goblin threw the lump of ore back into the cart and motioned for Slave to go on, but not before cracking the whip once more on the poor slaves back. The slave let out a cry of agony before continuing on his way. Puffin's heart went out to the poor slave, but there was nothing he could do. He was on a mission and that was far more important. But he still felt horrible for the slaves in Chamburg, and how he wished he could set them all free.

Puffin and Whizzer remained hidden within the ore, waiting to see where they were going. After what seemed like forever, Puffin felt the cart come to a halt. From his little peephole, he could see the sky above them as more columns of smoke rose out of the cavern. Then the cart began to tilt forward and Puffin began to fear the worst. He then began to unbury himself and help Whizzer do the same. The cart had now been tilted to an angle to where the iron ore began to pour out of the cart. Puffin and Whizzer nearly fell out of the cart as well but extended their wings at the last second and flew out of the cart before they were caught by the falling rocks and crushed. Puffin looked down below to see a massive pile of ore and more slaves picking them up and moving them around. He then looked at his surroundings and noticed that the cavern that they were in now was far larger. They're were many platforms along the walls of the cavern. But what stood out were the sounds of metal clanging together. Puffin looked all over the cavern and saw hundreds of more slaves working as blacksmiths.

Puffin and Whizzer flew down towards one of the platforms on one of the lower levels as quick as they could and took cover behind some more stones. After taking a moment to recover of breath from using a bit too much energy, they peeked around the stone they were hiding behind to look around to make sure they weren't spotted. Not too far from them, they saw a pile of coal about three meters away. They quickly ran over and took cover behind the coal. Once there, the poked their heads out from the other side. There they saw a very large pile of iron weapons right next to them. They were amazed at how many there were, no more than a couple hundred.

"So they are making weapons," Whizzer said.

"Well that answers one question," Puffin asked. "But is it for a mass invasion?"

The sound of a man grunting not too far away caught their attention. A tall, muscular man with very short brown hair was leaning on an anvil with a hammer in his right hand and a long piece of hot orange metal in the other. He was breathing heavily for a few moments before he raised his hammer once more and pounded away at the metal. He struck the metal a few more times before he turned around and made his way to a small furnace not far away. He placed the metal in the furnace then pressed down on the bellow just beneath the fires. He pressed it a few more times before turning towards the pile of coal. Puffin and Whizzer immediately too cover behind the pile as the man grabbed a shovel and scooped up some coal. Puffin and Whizzer poked their heads out once more to watch him. The man made his way back to the furnace and threw the coal inside and pressed on the bellows once more.

After about a minutes, the man took out the piece of metal and went back to the anvil. Puffin and Whizzer watched as the man stuck the metal a few more times until a small voice spoke out.

"Daddy?" The man immediately stopped what he was doing and looked off to his right. Puffin and Whizzer looked in the same direction and saw a little girl with long brown hair and dressed in rags walking towards the man with what looked like a bucket of water. The man smiled at the young girl before placing the hammer down and walking over to what Puffin assumed was his daughter. The little girl smiled up at her father.

"I brought you some water, Daddy," the little girl said. The man's smile widened as he took a cup from the little girl's hand and scooped out some water.

"Thank you, sweety," he said before he took a drink, savoring the cool, refreshing taste as it went down his throat. After finishing, he gave the cup back to his daughter before motioning her along.

"Now you have to leave so daddy can finish his work." The little girl's smile faltered into a frown as she looked towards the ground while her father gently pushed her away. But the didn't get more than a step away when another voice called out.

"Slave!" said a beast-like voice. The man and little girl quickly turned around to see four Goblins, lead by a much larger Goblin, making their way towards them. Them and grabbed his daughter and gently placed her behind him as the Goblins continued towards them before stopping just a few feet away from them. Puffin looked at the Goblins from their hiding spot. The larger seemed very familiar to him, but he couldn't quite place it. His armor was impressive, having two massive shoulder plates that made him look much bigger than he really was, which was saying a lot. His chest plate had, from what Puffin could tell, two dragons facing each other ready to fight. His helmet had a ring of horns around it, making look like a crown of sorts, with two larger horns at the sides. The rest of his armor was just arm and leg guards with a few spikes poking out, as well as on his gauntlets and metal boots. He also had some chain mail underneath his armor. But after another moment of studying, he instantly recognized the Goblin as Sargon's General Krugnor. He then began to fear for the two.

"What do you think you're doing Slave?!" Krugnor shouted at the man. "Who told you to stop working?!" The man took a couple steps forward and bowed his head low.

"I-I'm so sorry, my lord," he said nervously. "I was just taking a moment to have a quick drink before I continued. I-I promise it won't happen again." Krugnor growled at him.

"See to it that you wont!" he shouted. "I want these weapon finished by the end of the month." He then grabbed the man by the throat and lifted him off the ground. Puffin, watching from where he was, wanted to stop the cruelty and help him. Whizzer must have sensed his friend's intentions and and placed a wing on his shoulder to keep he calm. Puffin was practically shaking in anger as he watched Krugnor bring the man closer to his face.

"In fact, make it sooner, you filth. Or I will gladly have your head mounted on a spike at the front gates," he said in a low, menacing voice. He then threw the man back, causing him to stumble to the ground. But he also accidentally fell back towards his daughter, knocking her to the ground. But as she fell, she accidentally threw the bucket of water forward. Puffin and Whizzer watched as the bucket of water fell on the flow, but not before plashing Krugnor all over. Upon realizing this, the man's face formed into one of complete and utter horror. Krugnor growled loudly as he dripped with water. He then looked down towards the girl.

"You stupid little rat filth!" he yelled as he ran over and grabbed the little girl by the hair and yanked her up, causing the girl to scream in agony. Puffin was now ready to intervene, but Whizzer was doing everything he could to keep Puffin from doing something that will get them both killed.

"Lemme at him! Lemme at him! I'll oop and I'll pff and I'll ah."

"Chill would you?!" Whizzer said quietly. The man quickly stood up and grabbed Krugnor's arm that was holding his daughter.

"Please my Lord," he pleaded. "She didn't mean it! It was an accident!" Krugnor pushed the man away hard.

"An accident that she will pay for," Krugnor growled. The man quickly returned to his feet and pressed himself between Krugnor and his daughter, causing Krugnor to let go. The man then dropped to both knees and bowed to Krugnor.

"Please my Lord! She just a child. She meant no harm." Krugnor looked down at the man for a moment with anger in his eyes. Then a small, vicious smile crept on his face.

"So you wish to take her punishment, yes?" Krugnor ask. The man looked up at Krugnor with wide eyes full of fear.

"Very well," Krugnor said. "Take him to the post. Give him thirty lashes along with another fifty for laying hands on his master." The man looked down at the ground defeated as two for the Goblins grabbed each of his arms and began to drag him away. But he was just glad that his daughter was free from any punishment. The little girl stood up and ran to her father.

"Daddy!" she screamed. But she was struck down by a firm, metal hand.

"Stay down, you rat-filth!" Krugnor yelled. "Or I'll have you an the post next to you father." The little girl watched with tears in her eyes as her father was begin dragged away from her. Once they were far enough to where she couldn't see them, she let her tears roll down her face and began to cry. She lowered herself further to the ground and began to cry in her arms. Puffin and Whizzer watched the little girl with broken hearts. Puffin could no longer sit by and do nothing when there was someone in need of help. He emerged from behind the pile of coal and slowly made his way to the sobbing girl. Whizzer tried to stop him but stopped himself. He too wanted to help this poor girl. So he slowly followed Puffin towards the young one. Puffin was right above the little girl, who was still crying loudly. Puffin's heart nearly broke in two as he watched the poor girl suffer. Slowly, he placed a wing on her head. But the moment he made contact, the little girl screamed and pulled back from the sudden touch. Puffin and Whizzer both held up their wings in the air.

"Hold it, young one," He said in a gently voice. "We're not here to harm you." The little girl still looked fear stricken as the two birds. Puffin took a step closer to the young girl.

"We're here to help," he said. The little girl to a moment to study the two birds in front of her. She was still fearful that they were lying and were working for the Goblins. But once she looked into their eyes, she saw only kindness. She then knew that they meant no harm. Tears began to form in her eyes once more, but this time not from sadness. She then suddenly reached forward and grabbed Puffin and Whizzer, pulling them both into a hug. Puffin and Whizzer were surprised by the sudden action, but soon returned the embrace to comfort the young girl, who began to cry once more. She cried for a few moment longer before the tears returned from happiness to sadness once more. She then released the birds and pointed off to where her father was taken.

"They took my daddy!" she cried. "They took him away to eat him. You have to save him." Puffin and Whizzer looked at one another uncomfortably before Puffin spoke.

"I'm afraid we can do that young one," he said sadly. The young girl quickly turned around with a pained look in her eyes, as if he hopes and dreams were crushed right in front of here.

"But you said you were here to help," the little girl said as she began to cry some. This time Whizzer took a step closer to her.

"We are," he said. "But we're not here to free slaves just yet. We're here on an important mission." This caught the little girl of guard as he sobbing began to cease.

"What mission?" she asked is a soft voice.

"We're here from the kingdom of Swan Lake to gather as much information as we can," Puffin explained. The little girl's sobbing had ceased completely as she looked at the two birds.

"So you're like spies, right?" she asked. Puffin and Whizzer smiled at the young one.

"Yes," Puffin said. "We're spies. And in order for us to help you all, we must find out what the Goblins' plans are. If you have any information at all, that would be most helpful." Alise stared at them for a moment before turning here head slightly away, as if thinking. But Puffin wasn't really expecting the young girl to know anything. She was so young and probably could have anything helpful to them. However, this thought was erased as the girl looked back at them.

"I know that the Goblins are expecting someone very important to arrive," she said. Puffin and Whizzer were both completely surprised by this information.

"Really?" Whizzer asked. "Who?" The young girl shrugged her shoulders.

"I don't know," she said. "But he seems to be someone very important. I heard a few Goblins talking about him a few days ago, saying that was was going to arrive here tomorrow." Puffin looked over at Whizzer, thrilled that they have a new lead to follow. Whizzer returned the smile before they returned their gaze upon the young girl.

"Thank you, young one," Puffin said. "This will surely help us." The little girl nodded.

"You're welcome," she said softly as she looked towards where her father was dragged away. Puffin looked sadly at the young girl. HE wanted to help her so much, but he wasn't sure how. But then an idea formed in his head and he smiled. He then placed a wing on the little girl's arm, causing her to look back at him.

"After we get the information we need," Puffin began, "How about we take you and you father away from here?" The little girl couldn't believe what she had heard. This little bird was offering to help her escape from this place, along with her father. Tears once again formed in here eyes as she quickly embraced Puffin in a warm hug, which Puffin gladly returned. They shared the embrace for a moment more before he pulled away slightly and looked up at the young girl.

"What is your name, young one?" Puffin asked. The little girl wiped the tears from here face as she looked at the two birds.

"Alise," she said."My name is Alise."
