(Zoe's POV)
Chapter 2.
I made it to my room as fast as I could. Locked the door behind me and jumped on the bed. Wade had a girlfriend. It's like I just got punched in the gut. Over and over and over. I heard a knock on my door. I opened the door to find Anna Beth and Lemon with sympathetic looks on their face.
" Zoe, We heard you ran into Wade and Callie. We came right over." Anna Beth said as she reached for my hand. I pushed all my feelings down deep, smiled and grabbed them both for a hug. " I'm fine y'all! I'm so glad to see you both! It's been forever. I'm so excited for you Anna Beth. It's going to be a great weekend!" They bother looked at each and raised their eyebrows. " You know we are here for you, Zoe." Lemon always could tell when I was lying. She's one of the first people I met in bluebell when we moved there when I was 2. Her dad and my dad opened a practice together their and started their roots. I guess mine didn't go deep enough. I bolted the first chance I got. Although, the rise and fall of Wade and Zoe was the only reason I did. "Uh Zoe, Can you come back to earth? "Anna Beth waved her hand in front of my face. "Seriously y'all, I'm better than ever. What's the plans AB?"
I Halfway listened to Lemon tell me the whole weekend planned out to a T. I had a certain boy I couldn't stop thinking about. This weekend needs to go by quick, if I know what's best for me. Stick to the plan. Avoid Wade at all cost. No matter what.
"Alright ladies. Let's get changed. The welcome cocktail party starts at 5. Zoe, this weekend will be great. I'm so glad you came." " AB, I would have never missed this." And with that they hurried out the door. I decide to go to the lobby and get some water. As I'm leaving my room I bump into my neighbor.
"Still can't walk, Doc." I didn't even need to look up. I knew who was in the room across the hall from me. Of course the universe would be screwing with me. Avoid Wade was going to be harder than I thought. I stepped to the side and looked up and said "There is no need for either us to try and be friendly. You obviously moved on and we have nothing to discuss. Let's keep this weekend about George and AnnaBeth. That's it." I saw his face and immediately regretted saying anything. " Sure thing Doc. Callie and I will be busy when we ain't doing party stuff."
