Chapter 4
I woke up to AB and lemon banging at my door. I briefly forgot I was in Vegas. With Wade. Oh my God.
I finally wake up enough to let them in. "Zoe Hart! Why are you not dressed? We have things to do! Let's go!" Lemon screamed. "She don't mean that honey! How was your night?" Anna Beth said before I could have a snarky reply. I really do love Lemon and she's one of my best friends, but she really can be pushy. "Okay, considering." I half smiled. "But I can be ready in 30 minutes. This weekend is about you, enough about me."
I quickly showered and got ready and met the girls in the lobby. The minute the elevator doors opened I locked eyes with him. Right there in the lobby, past the slot machines, sat Wade. Sitting with lemon, AB, George, Levon, and a girl I didn't recognize. I'm assuming Callie. He's the only one who sees me, so maybe I can fake an illness and run back to the room. I thought about, and was convinced that was my best option. Until my feet were moving in the direction of the group on the couches. As I approached, I noticed Wade hasn't taken his eyes off me. "Zoe! That didn't take long at all." Lemon screamed as they weren't expecting for this meeting to happen. " AB you ready? I wanted to stop somewhere real quick on the way to the spa." Before I could acknowledge anyone's presence my two best friends are dragging me away.
We make it outside and start walking towards the spa. We are about four blocks away from the hotel when they finally let me go. "Anyone care to explain what just happened?" I asked. "They boys tried to include Callie in our girls day! We didn't want to upset you, we were telling them no when you walked up?" AB blurted out. "It is a girls day, it makes sense." I tried to not sound bitter. I'm not, I know I'm not, but I'm sure it can come out like that though. "Zoe, you don't have to lie to us!" Lemon says as we walk into the spa. I don't even respond. I don't want to hang out with Callie. I don't want to get to know her. "I'm going to step outside. I need to make a phone call." They looked at each other and smiled softly as I walked away.
I took out my phone and almost dialed the familiar number. My fingers always seem to do that. Some habits don't go away I guess. "Zoe! You never called when you arrived? I've been calling non-stop! I've been so worried."I hung out with the group and went right to bed,Conner! Jet lag must have got me." He seemed to believe me. I like Conner. He's nice. He comes from deep family money in South Caroline. He's not Wade. "I hope you are having the best time, Babe! Can't wait to see you when you get back." Conner said as he hung up. I took a deep breath and walk back inside.
As I got back inside, I was ushered back to where Lemon and AB were. We changed into robes and went and had facials and massages. When we were done, we went to get lunch. "So tell me Zoe, how do you feel about Wade? I know how he feels.." AB nudged Lemon mid sentence. Right at the good part. " Well miss Zoe, you just light up Christmas tree, you do still love Wade!" I blushed a little. "Lemon! Leave her alone." AB tries to stay neutral. I appreciate that about her. "It's been so long. Wade is with Callie now. I'm with Conner. We've moved on!" The way they looked at each made me want to defend myself, but I didn't see a point.
We finished up and headed back to the hotel. The plan was to have dinner and swim in AB and George's penthouse pool. The thought of being at dinner with them, with him, made my stomach knot up. "I think I will just meet y'all after dinner. I'm not hungry and I think I just have jet lag." I said as we got to the hotel. They looked at each again. "Stop doing that!" I yelled at them. "We will see you later, honey! Rest up." And with that they headed to the bar before getting ready for dinner.
As I lay in my bed, A million thoughts went thru my head. Was I stupid to leave Bluebell? Was is a quick judgement? Did I really give him a chance? We have strong history, but he's with Callie. Say the word, I'm yours. I sat straight up in my bed. I knew what I had to do. I grabbed my phone as quickly as I could.
"Hey, we need to talk."
