I DO NOT OWN ATLA

Aang found himself sprinting down a metal hallway with Azula close behind him. He turned his head back and saw three Fire Nation soldiers that he didn't even recognize following him.

"Who are these people?" he asked Azula, who at this point was still following him in the long corridor.

"I have no clue! I've never seen them before!" she replied as she shot a torrent of blue flames from her hand.

"Well, whoever they are, they aren't slowing down," Aang said as he opened a door. He ran onto what seemed to be the courtyard. He looked around to see if he could find either Mai or Ty Lee and spotted both of them next to some other figures that he thought he recognized.

"Look!" Azula called while pointing to a large ground of soldiers that were slowly surrounding them. "Aang, you need to go!"

"Go?! Go where? I'm not leaving you!" he yelled to his significant other.

Suddenly, a loud roar echoed through the island which caught the attention of everyone present.

"Is that…" Mai spoke while trying to think of a logical explanation.

"APPA!" Aang exclaimed while running towards his bison.

"Come on, you have to get on!" a masked figure shouted from the saddle.

Mai and Ty Lee jumped into the saddle and yelled for Aang and Azula to get in as well, but neither person moved.

"Come on, Zula! Get in!" Aang said as he grabbed her arm.

"No, Aang!" Azula argued. "You're way too important to the world. You need to go!" She tried to plant her feet onto the metal ground.

"What the fuck are you talking about?! You're getting on Appa with me!" he cried as they came closer and closer to the sky bison.

"No!" Azula cried as she ripped her from his hand and stopped moving. "Someone needs to distract them long enough for you all to get away. Someone has to stay behind."

Aang suddenly stopped moving and looked at his girlfriend with tears forming in his eyes. "THAT'S BULLSHIT!" he yelled as he tried to grab her arm again. "We can make it. We need to find another way."

Suddenly, three torrents of fire were launched at the group. Aang saw this and launched a wall of air to try and lessen the amount of fire that was coming towards them.

Azula saw that her boyfriend was momentarily distracted and pushed him into the waiting arms of Ty Lee and Mai. She looked at her best friends with a teary smile on her face and sighed. "Take care of him!" she yelled as she turned around and started to get into her fighting stance.

"Azula, will we ever see you again?" Ty Lee asked all while trying to choke back a sob.

Azula looked over her shoulder and smiled warmly. "I'll always be with you, Ty. Mai, take care of him, okay?"

"N-no, Sparks, what are you doing?!" asked a petrified Aang. "NO! GET ON THE SADDLE, ZULA!" he screamed as he struggled to get free from Mai and Ty Lee's embrace.

"Aang, you must go!" shouted Azula. "You can't be captured. You're too important to the word! Now go!" She shot fire at some of the soldiers who were slowly starting to overwhelm her.

"Alright, if we're going to leave, we're going to have to do it now!" called the mysterious figure. "Is everyone onboard who's going?"

Aang looked at the figure with tears rolling down his face. "NO! We can't leave her! I-"

"APPA, YIP YIP!"

Aang felt the usual feeling of Appa lifting off of the ground and could feel them getting higher and higher into the sky. He finally got free of his friend's arms and looked over the side of the saddle to see Azula's limp form being hauled away into the bowls of the building.

"NOOOOOO!"

Azula had been enjoying her time in her deep sleep. She had had a rather long day of figuring out battle plans for the Fire Nation, looking over and ordering supplies that the ship lacked, all while training Aang in Firebending. She had to admit that in the short amount of time that she was training him, he was as good - if not better - than her at it.

Suddenly, she felt the bed start to shake and heard what sounded like Aang yelling. She instantly woke up and saw that it was, in fact, Aang, shaking the bed and crying out. Oh, Agni, what's wrong with him?

"Hey, honey, it's okay," she cooed, trying to comfort her significant other by whispering into his ear. "I'm here. I'm right here." She spoke in a soothing tone which made Aang immediately calm down.

"She's gone," he cried. Azula looked at him with wide eyes and grabbed him in her arms. She rubbed his back and held him close to her chest.

"Shh, it's okay. I'm right here," she said softly while pressing his head against her heart. "See? There's my heartbeat. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere."

Something inside of Aang instantly calmed down when he heard Azula's heartbeat and he suddenly felt much calmer. He stopped thrashing around in the bed and started to quiet down, much to the relief of Azula.

I wonder what nightmare he had this time, she thought to herself as she continued to rub his back. She looked out the window and saw that it was still very much dark outside and deduced that the sun wouldn't be up for another few hours. Well, I guess I could try to go back to sleep. Eventually, she finally closed her eyes and went back to sleep.

When Aang woke up properly the next morning, he found himself alone in bed. He looked around and saw Azula leaning on the balcony. He smiled to himself and went over to talk to her. When he was just behind her, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close. "Good morning," he whispered.

Azula, not expecting the company, jumped at the contact. She turned around and calmed down when she realized that it was only Aang. "Good morning. Did you sleep okay?" she added cautiously.

Aang looked at her for a second and smiled. I hope she doesn't know that I had a nightmare last night. "Yeah, I slept great last night," he said casually.

Azula raised an eyebrow. "Really?" she asked with a smirk on her face. "I seem to remember having to calm you down in the middle of the night from one of your nightmares. Care to explain?"

Aang sighed and frowned lightly. "I'm sorry, did I keep you awake like last time?"

"No," she said as she smiled and hugged him. "Luckily, I knew how to calm you down, so you weren't much of a problem." She kissed him on the lips and smirked, but paused at the look on his face. "What? You look surprised."

"I… I didn't think that it was going to be that bad."

"Aang, your nightmares are always bad." She chuckled a little. "What was it even about this time?" she asked while walking back inside to grab an apple from the counter.

"Well, I thought that you were getting captured," he explained while pouring himself a glass of water. "We had been in this weird building and running from soldiers when you forced me onto Appa, but then you...died."

She stopped moving for a second and looked at him. Could that have been another one of the weird dreams that I had that day at the Stronghold? "Well, that surely was an interesting dream."

"I...I thought you were dead," he said as he tried to wipe a tear from his eye.

"Aw, Aang." Azula walked over to comfort him. "I'm right here. I won't leave you. We promised each other that we would remember..."

A Few Days Ago...

Aang was setting the table for a nice dinner with Azula. He had spent the better part of three hours cooking food for her and was quite excited to show her what he made. He walked towards the oven to check on his ham and smiled to himself.

"I'm back."

Aang looked up to see Azula walk in and smiled. She was wearing her usual outfit of red and gold and had her hair up. He walked over and kissed her on the lips. "How was your day?" he asked while hugging her.

"Oh you know, it was the usual. Deal with idiots, sign documents, write letters," she replied, returning the hug.

"That's good. I made dinner while you were out. Is that okay?" he asked, letting go of her.

She laughed and went to go change into more comfortable clothing. "Since when has that ever not been okay?" She walked into the bathroom and changed into a pair of leggings and an orange t-shirt. She walked back out and noticed that Aang already had plates out. "What did you cook this time?"

He smiled and went back to the oven to take out his dinner. "Well, I made honey glazed ham with mashed potatoes and buttered rolls." He put the ham onto the table and scooped a hearty amount of potato onto her plate which already had a large amount of ham and two rolls on it. "There you go! I hope you like it." He placed her plate down in front of her and smiled. "Would you like some tea or anything to drink?" he asked as he walked back into the kitchen.

"Um, some water would be great," she replied while taking a bite out of her roll.

Aang nodded and bended some water into a cup that was sitting nearest to Azula on the table. He then placed his own plate down on the table and started eating his dinner. "Well, how is it?"

Azula looked up at him and smiled. "It's great, Aang! You've really improved with your cooking skills," she noted, but not before stifling a burp that erupted from her mouth. She blushed lightly and continued to eat.

All throughout dinner, the couple engaged in light conversation that ranged from their next destination to their favorite activities they did when they were younger. It was a rather pleasant evening that was capped off when Aang brought out a chocolate cake.

"Would you like a piece, Princess?" he asked as he cut himself a slice and smiled at her.

That looks amazing! I have to try some, she thought as she eagerly nodded her head and accepted the slice. She took a bite and her eyes instantly lit up. She let out a slight groan. "Oh, Aang, this is amazing!"

"Aww, thanks," he said, grinning from ear to ear. "It was from one of the cookbooks you got me for my birthday." He placed the cake back onto the counter and covered it. "Can I ask you something?" He asked, his tone turning more serious.

"Sure," replied Azula.

"Our final destination is the Fire Nation capital, right?" He sat down and placed his hands into his lap.

"Yes, that's where we are going," she answered while taking another bite from her cake. "Why, is something wrong?" A look of concern grew on her face.

"I was just wondering what's going to happen to me when we get there."

"You're scared something is going to happen to you, aren't you?" She placed her fork down and took a sip of water.

"I mean, can you blame me? I'm public enemy number one there!" He looked at her and sighed, trying to regain his composer. "I'm just scared that something will happen."

Azula looked at her boyfriend and sighed. She knew that this conversation was coming, but she didn't think that it would be this soon. "Aang, I'm not going to let anything bad happen to you. I swear that I will always be there for you no matter what happens. I will always be here for you!" she repeated firmly.

"Do you promise?" asked Aang. "If you promise, then I will promise you that I will never abandon you. I will always be there for you, Princess Azula. Forever and always." He looked at her, grabbed her hand, and squeezed it.

"I promise, Avatar Aang. I will always be here for you, forever and always." She smiled at him and kissed him. But, he does have a point...we don't know what is going to happen when we do get into the capital. Oh well, we'll think about that later.

Present Day

"I must admit, that was a really good cake," Aang reminisced while sighing. "But, yes, I do remember that. I'm just scared. I don't want to lose you, Zula. You mean the world to me and I don't want to lose you," Aang said while trying not to cry.

Azula looked at him and kissed him gently on the lips. "Aangy, I'm not going to lose you. I will always be with you."

"Promise?" he asked as he looked into her eyes.

"I promise."

"Hey Toph."

"What do you want, Ice Brain?"

"Is Suki okay?"

Toph looked up from her stall and glanced at Sokka. "What do you mean? Is something wrong with Suki?"

"Well, she says that she's fine, but you can tell that something is definitely bothering her," Sokka replied as he started restocking his stall with fruits.

"Well, she's your girlfriend. Why don't you go talk to her?" Toph reasoned as she sold yet another group of items to a young mother.

"I tried, but she said that she was fine, so I just left it alone," Sokka explained to his friend, who shook her head in disappointment.

"If it's something that she doesn't want you to know about, then she's not going to tell you."

"Yeah, I know that. I'm just worried about her."

Toph looked at her friend and sighed. "Fine. After work, I'll go talk to her and see if everything is okay. But that means that you are going to have to find the place that old guy wrote down in that bar at Amarasu." She looked around and saw that no one else was coming and took a bite out of an apple.

"Alright, just please figure out what's wrong with her," Sokka requested as he continued to restock his stall.

"Are you both talking about me again?" Suki replied as she made her way back to her stall.

"Wow, there must have been a line for the bathroom," Toph joked as she took another bite of her apple.

"Oh, fuck off, Toph, I came back as fast as I could," she replied, but not before turning to her boyfriend. "And you. Stop worrying about me! I said I was fine," she added while reopening her stall.

"Honey, you know I'm worried about you," he pleaded, but was only met by a scowl.

"And I told you specifically NOT to worry about me! And what do you do? You worry about me!" Suki scolded Sokka while Toph was quietly laughing her ass off.

"Well, Sokka, maybe you shouldn't have worried about her, then," Toph said as she tried to stop herself from laughing.

"Alright, you know what, Toph? Fuck you," Sokka yelled as he closed up his shop.

"Maybe you're just mad that you can't fuck your girlfriend any more," Toph mused as Suki laughed at her insult.

"Alright, you three," Mr. Rizon called from the back of his cart. He was counting all the money they had made for the day. "It doesn't look like you're going to be selling anything else today, so why don't you head off and do that thing you were talking about?"

"Alright, come on, guys," Sokka said as he closed his stall for the day. "Oh, and grab your weapons," he added quickly. "Something tells me that this isn't going to be pretty."

"Alright, Ice Brain lead the way," Toph shouted as the group started walking towards the rest of the city. While she was walking, she wasn't paying much attention, but when she walked next to Suki, she noticed that her heartbeat was slightly off. Huh, that's weird. Why is Suki's heartbeat off sync? It's like there are…two…HEARTBEATS?!

"WHAT THE FUCK?!" she exclaimed out loud in the middle of the street.

Suki and Sokka stopped in their tracks and looked at Toph like she was insane. "Toph, what's wrong?" Suki asked as she walked over to her and looked at her.

Oh shit, Toph thought to herself, panicked. What am I going to do?! I can't just tell her she's pregnant. Does she know? What will happen to the baby? Oh shit, I was joking about mini Sokkas running around.

"Toph?"

Can they even raise a child? Who's going to deliver it? Shit, what's Katara going to say?! Oh FUCK, WHAT DO I DO?!

"TOPH!"

"What the fuck do you want?!" she yelled as she stopped walking, whipping around and staring at her two friends.

"We were just wondering if you were okay! You screamed bloody murder for no fucking reason," Sokka explained as he pointed at her.

"So, what was that all about?" Suki asked.

Toph's palms instantly got sweaty. "Oh, nothing. I just saw two guys puke into the same trash can. It was super weird. Sorry I yelled at you." Please buy it, she internally pleaded with herself.

"Oh! Well, yeah...that's pretty weird," Suki said, chuckling a little. She soon caught up to Sokka and held his hand.

"Whelp, they're fucked in a few months," Toph mumbled to herself as she followed the group.

After a couple hours of walking, Sokka signaled for them to stop. He looked at the piece of paper and then up at the building. "We're here," he whispered in an ominous tone.

The building itself was a very run down and dilapidated wooden shack. It was located in the shadier parts of the city and looked like it had seen better days. There were three windows that made up the front exterior of the building.

"Well, this looks like it's going to be a party," Suki said sarcastically as she followed her boyfriend into the building.

"Who are you?" a man spoke from the back of the shack.

"We were sent by an older man in Amarasu. He gave us a piece of paper that reads: 'The stone lies in the belly of the beast.'"

The man's eyes instantly widened and he smiled. "So, you've met my informant, have you?"

"Yes. My name is Sokka. This is my girlfriend, Suki, and my friend, Toph, who is an Earthbender," he announced, gesturing to everyone behind him, respectively. The man smiled and beckoned them to follow him.

"Oh, good! I assume you work on behalf of the Avatar, is that correct?" the man asked while he led them to a door that was at the back of the shack.

"Yes," Suki asked while grabbing Sokka's hand. "Though, we are currently all split up everywhere."

"Ah. That makes sense," The man said as he opened the door, leading them inside a dark room. "This is where all of my information about the Fire Nation is."

The teens looked around the room and gasped. There were different maps everywhere, each of them having dots and strings attached. There were boards with words on them: 'Black Sun', 'Phoenix', and the one that caught Sokka's eye: 'Boiling Rock'.

"What can you tell me about the Boiling Rock?" he asked the man as he looked at the board and back at the map.

"Ah, the Boiling Rock is a maximum security prison in the middle of a dormant volcano. The reason why it's called the Boiling Rock is because surrounding the island is boiling hot water, which makes it impossible to escape the island. Why do you ask?"

"That's where I was headed!" Suki exclaimed, which made everyone look at her. "When I was captured, they said they were taking me to this Boiling Rock place."

"That would make a lot of sense," the man said as he went through some of his notes. "The Fire Lord likes to send a lot of his more important prisoners there instead of the work camps."

"Who else is there?" Sokka asked as she looked over the man's shoulder.

"No one important. A few rebel cell leaders and some politicians that the Fire Lord didn't feel like killing. Other than that, it's just prisoners of war that weren't sent to work camps."

"What if we got some of those leaders to work with us?" Sokka pondered as he stroked his chin.

"Well, that would mean that you would be able to sneak into the prison and sneak out undetected, then get away," the man said as he looked at Sokka, who was smiling.

"Well, lucky for us, we have a ten-ton flying bison that we can get away on," Sokka said with a smug look on his face.

"And lucky for us, you'll be dead by then."
