Chapter 4: World's Strongest Part 2
"How could you do that to an elderly man!?" Bulma shouted at Kochin.
"I ain't that old!" Roshi shouted in protest.
"You're still pretty old, Master Roshi," Turtle countered.
"Shut up, Turtle!"
"Then that's the level of Master Roshi, the greatest martial artist under the sun, and said to be the strongest man in the world," Kochin said in disbelief.
"You're an idiot, aren't you?" Bulma responded with a similar sense of disbelief. Her words grabbed Kochin's attention.
"An idiot, am I!?"
"Yes, you're an idiot! And as for Roshi being the strongest in the world, that was fifty years in the past!" Bulma yelled. Kochin asks her to clarify.
"Is it really wise to tell him about Goku?" Yamcha asks.
"Goku's on his way anyway, doesn't matter at this point," Tien responds.
"Young lady, are you telling the truth?" Dr. Wheelo interjects. Bulma asks who the voice belongs to, causing Kochin to call her out for her disrespect. Which confuses the scientist more about who Dr. Wheelo was.
Kochin proceeds to introduce himself and Wheelo, drawing more confusion from Bulma. That was when it finally dawned on Bulma who her kidnappers were. "I thought I'd heard of your names somewhere! You're Dr. Wheelo, said to be an unequalled prodigal scientist, and his assistant, Doctor Kochin!"
"Took you long enough," Beerus complained.
"To be fair, Lord Beerus, I doubt she'd recognize an old man she just met," Whis tapped Beerus on the nose with his spoon. The God of Destruction glared hotly at his attendant in annoyance.
Kochin congratulates her on guessing correctly. Bulma brings up how it should be impossible for the both of them to still be alive, since they were reported to have died in an ice storm.
Kochin agrees with her knowledgeable retelling, besides the part where they died. The lights around them illumenate to show Dr. Wheelo's brain is sitting inside of a large glass container. Bulma backs away from the creepiness of it all.
"Young lady, as you can see, Doctor Wheelo's brain is still alive," Kochin smiles in evil joy.
"It was written that the two devilish scientists had received punishment from above for pursuing their own research!"
"What was so wrong about them doing their own research?" Hercule asked.
"From most reports about them it was said that they were bioengineering humans and animals to create the perfect lifeform. Their experiments were so inhumane that they were blacklisted as researchers and were never heard from again," Bulma explained.
"Perfect lifeform? Like, Cell?" Gohan asked.
Bulma thought about it for a moment. "Hm, no, probably not like Cell. They wanted the perfect human in a sense, while Gero wanted the perfect tool for revenge," Bulma said.
Kochin yells at her for insulting their research, saying that the rest of humanity couldn't keep up to them.
"Young lady, who is the strongest in the world?" Dr. Wheelo asked.
"Do not say it…" Vegeta growled.
Bulma smiles confidently as she glares at the huge brain. "Son Goku, of course!"
Vegeta's growls intensified at hearing his wife call Goku the strongest. He's aware that this was a past/different version, but it still pissed him off.
Goku on the other hand smiled at the compliment. "Thanks, Bulma! Though, I wouldn't call myself the strongest. There are a lot of super strong guys out there who are way past my level!" Goku thought back to his battle with Jiren, anticipating the next time he meets the Pride Trooper.
"You guys couldn't stand up to him even if you all ganged up!" Bulma continued to hype up the Saiyan from Earth.
"You seem to do a lot of bragging for someone that's captured," Krillin muttered under his breath.
"What was that!?" Bulma had heard his smart comment.
"I-uh-NOTHING!" Krillin backed away in fear.
Finding her words interesting, Dr. Wheelo asks for Goku's location. Bulma questions their plans if she does tell them where Goku is.
"The most brilliant brain in the world, Dr. Wheelo, will take over the body of the strongest man in the world, and be restored!" Kochin revealed.
"WHAT!?" Everyone shouted in shock.
"That's why they were so focused on Roshi's strength! They wanted to put Wheelo's brain into his fragile old man body!" Bulma shouted.
"I AIN'T FRAGILE!" Roshi protested.
"How do they even plan to fit a massive brain into someone's body?" Videl questions in disgust. She thought about how gross it would look for someone to have such a large head caused by an equally humongous brain.
Goku was shifting uncomfortably in his seat, even in another timeline people still wanted his body to use for evil. "First that Ginyu guy, then Zamasu, and now this Wheelo guy. What about me is that interesting?" Goku frowned, deep in his own thoughts(Weird I know).
Chi-Chi saw the rare look on her husband's face and placed a comforting hand on his thigh, dragging him back to reality. "You ok, Goku?"
He didn't answer at first, still trying to process his thoughts. When he looked at the worried look on her face he shook his own head in shame. "What am I doing thinking about all of this? I'm still me and with my own body, that's all that matters now."
"Yeah, don't worry, Chi-Chi. I'm just hungry!" Goku laughed.
Sighing at her husband's appetite, she allowed a small smile to grace her lips, happy to see him back to his usual self.
Bulma calls Kochin insane while the mad assistant laughs, shouting that Dr. Wheelo will rule over the world.
"I will now take those humans who treated my greatness as being eccentric, and refused to acknowledge it, those who utterly cast me into oblivion, and exact my revenge on them, ruling over them with my scientific power!" Dr. Wheelo ranted with anticipation.
"Inability to accept one's way as wrong will lead them down a path of ruin," Whis disapproved of Dr. Wheelo's mentality.
"Shows you how idiotic mortals can be sometimes," Beerus chewed on his shrimps.
Kochin reveals that a couple of days ago he and Wheelo had turned a forest into a desert wasteland, killing any living creature within it. Kochin bragging that this was just an example of their revenge, to recreate the world in Dr. Wheelo's image.
"It's a good thing 17 isn't here yet," Krillin said to his wife. 18 nodded her head in agreement, knowing that this revelation would've pissed off her brother.
"Young lady, where is this man named Son Goku?" Kochin asked.
"Wait wait! A powerful Ki is approaching!" Dr. Wheelo interrupted Kochin. The screen in the lab turned on, revealing Goku flying in on the Nimbus.
"It's an incredible Ki. Son Goku…Indeed, this could be the man worthy of being my body."
"You can't have my Dad! You stupid brain!" Goten blew his tongue.
Chi-Chi is seen frowning at Gohan's folded clothes on his bed. Knowing that her son snuck out to follow his Father. "My Gohan is growing further and further away from me."
"I'm always here, Mom. I never meant to cause you pain," Gohan flew over to give his mother a hug, which she returned quickly.
"You could never hurt me, Gohan. You just have a heart as big as your Father's, I just worry for your safety is all," Chi-Chi smiled softly.
"Forgive me, Mother," Gohan said as he flew off after his Dad.
The Nimbus touched down in front of the lab. Kochin's voice came through on the intercom, asking if he was Goku. The Saiyan answered right away and asked for the location of his friends. Kochin tells Goku that they're inside and incites Goku to come in and get them.
"It's a trap!" Pilaf panics.
"Yeah, no duh!" Trunks rolls his eyes.
"Woah! It's cold!" Goku shivered in front of the large doors.
"You're just now realizing that?" Vegeta raises an eyebrow.
"Guess so, though I'm sure I can handle it," Goku smiles.
When the large doors open Goku is attacked immediately by Misokatsun from underneath the ice. The large bio-warrior strikes at Goku, but the Martial artist parries each one. When Goku punches him in the gut, his fist does no damage, so he kicks the bio-warrior in the chin to send him barreling into the freezing waters.
Goku uses that opportunity to backflip away, only to slip and slide unceremoniously into the laboratory. Misokatsun chases Goku into the base.
"Of course the buffoon forgets that he's fighting on ice," Vegeta face palms.
"Hehe! Oops?" Goku laughed, nervously.
"It's so cold, I can't muster enough strength!" Goku said as he ran through the entrance.
"Really? That's what's stopping you?" Piccolo asked.
"Guess the cold does affect you, huh Dad?" Gohan smirked at his Father's words.
"Guess the cold really does have an effect on us," Goku realized.
Goku stops when he enters a dome-like room with big black spheres floating around. Suddenly blades pop out of the spheres, making them 100 times more threatening. And all of them begin flying at Goku.
The Saiyan from Earth dodges each one before getting annoyed at the endless oncoming of attacks. "Ain't no stopping them like this!" He launches Ki blasts and destroys the spheres.
Misokatsun pops out of the smoke and punches Goku in the face and stomach, pushing the martial artist into the wall. Goku dodges his next attack and rebounds with a drop kick, only for his attack to be ineffective once more.
"He really is just like Buu in the rubbery aspect," Gohan said.
Goku begins to power just as Misokatsun starts to swell up his body. Goku flies at him and stretches out the bio-warrior's stomach.
"Kaioken!" Goku's body is enveloped in a red aura and bursts through Misokatsun's body with ease, killing the bio-warrior. He shot through the ceiling and entered another floor.
"That makes me wonder, how come Goku knows that Kaioken at this time," Piccolo says, drawing everyone's attention.
"What do you mean, Piccolo?" Krillin asks.
"From what we've seen so far Gohan has been trained by me and Goku knows the Kaioken. Things that wouldn't have happened if there wasn't a need to fight off Vegeta and his partner. Let's also not forget that I'm alive in this one," Piccolo explained.
"I think I get it, Mr. Piccolo. In this timeline you most likely didn't die from protecting me, thus the Dragon Balls didn't disappear," Gohan guessed.
"If that's the case then no wonder Dr. Wheelo never came back to life in our timeline, the Dragon Balls were turned to stone from Piccolo and Kami dying!" Bulma realized.
"And if Piccolo lived then we had no reason to go to Namek. We could just use the Earth's Dragon Balls to bring everyone back to life," Krillin added.
"If that's all the case then that means Frieza is still galavanting around in this timeline with nobody to stop him," Vegeta growled, hating the idea of Frieza living. Another thought had crossed his mind as well, about the fate of this timeline's version of himself. Though, he didn't want to think about how that version would still be stuck under Frieza's rule.
"I guess I've warmed up a little, now…" Goku jokes to himself.
Kochen and Wheelo were both shocked by Goku defeating one of the bio-warriors. Back to the action Goku stood face to face with Ebifrya, not a second passed before Goku elbowed him in the face.
"Wanna give a little warning next time!" Oolong was spooked by the suddenness of the punch.
"Hehe! Sorry," Goku apologized.
Kishime jumped down in front of Goku, the martial artist threw punches, but the bio-warrior just dodged them all.
"When he disappears, his Ki disappears as well!" Goku tried to locate his opponents.
"This is why you need to master Ultra Instinct, Goku. There will be times such as this when you won't be able to sense your opponent in the middle of a fight," Whis instructed.
"Gotcha, Whis!" Goku nodded his head.
Both of them charge at Goku, Kishime strikes him in the back while Ebifrya two-punches him in the front. Kishime then tosses Goku into Kishime's knee, allowing the pink warrior to kick Goku away.
Recovering from their attacks Goku meets them head-on. Slamming his fist into Kishime's face and kicking Ebifrya away. The three break into a quick clash of fists and kicks with Goku coming out victorious in the struggle. However, an electrical whip strikes Goku in his back and Ebifrya sends an ice blast at the Saiyan.
"Two on one isn't fair!" Goten and Trunks complained.
"Aren't you two the ones who were fine with ganging up on me at the tournament?" 18 questions the boys, making them shut up.
Ebifrya sends another ice blast at Goku, freezing his entire body, besides his head. Kochin laughs at the success of trapping Goku within the ice attack.
Before they could finish off Goku, Gohan jumps down to protect his Father. Goku was shocked to see his son appear.
"Gohan!"
"Father!"
Soon Krillin also joined the male Sons in the battle. Goku smiled at the sight of his best friend. "Krillin!"
"Wow! I didn't expect to show up again...hopefully it's better than last time," Krillin grumbled. Not wanting an embarrassing showing in front of his family again.
"Goku, is this any way to treat a friend? Don't forget, I'm here for you, too," Krillin said.
"Always there when I need ya, thanks Krillin," Goku smiled.
"Hehe, no problem, Goku. What are friends for?" Krillin responded.
Ebifrya shot another ice blast at the trio, both Krillin and Gohan stopped the ice attack from hitting them. Kishime tried to attack Gohan, but Krillin knocked him out of the way.
Kishime began to grow tentacles out of his body, wrapping them around his arms to use as electric whips. Gohan and Krillin dodge the first strike only for the next two to take them out.
"GOHAN!"
18 almost jumped out her seat at the sight of Krillin getting electrocuted before reminding herself that her husband was safe right next to her.
Both landed on the ground while Goku continued to struggle out of the ice. Soon both were getting electrocuted by Kishime, their screams of pain ringing through Goku's ears.
Kishime threw them both into the air for Ebifrya to freeze them both in ice.
"KAIOKEN!" Goku shatters the ice around him. A fiery hot aura bursts into life around him once more.
"Why didn't you do that before!?" Chi-Chi yells.
Goku backs away from his angry wife. "T-The cold?" Goku tries to get out of her wrath.
"That's not an excuse!" She hits him with her frying pan.
Ebifrya shoots another blast of ice, but Goku charges through without hesitation. He strikes the bio-warrior in the jaw and kicks Kishime in the jaw before charging directly into his spine.
Goku lands on the ground holding Kishime's dead body in his hands while Ebifrya was on the floor unmoving.
Goku rushes over to his frozen allies trying to figure out what to do.
"Hurry and thaw us! We're cold!" Krillin yells through the ice.
"Daddy…" Gohan calls for him.
"That was a humiliating showing, Gohan!" Piccolo yelled.
"S-Sorry, Mr. Piccolo," Gohan apologized to his master.
"Seems Goku's the only one there capable of handling things," Beerus yawned.
