Aomine hated school. Okay. Maybe 'hate' was a strong word. You really couldn't blame him though. Waking up at the asscrack of dawn just to attend classes is more boring than watching paint dry.
The only actual good thing about the place teens call 'hell' is the fact that they were allowed to socialize and mingle with their buddies. Given the, very little, time between classes, students are allowed to offer swift greetings before being forced back into their hellhole.
Aomine might have enjoyed school better if he was actually good at it. Having F's in almost every class didn't do him wonders. He begged Midorima to tutor him but of course the tsundere refused. "It is futile to even try aiding an idiot of your status, nanodayo," was the moss-head's brilliant response.
Giving up on asking, the ganguro concluded that he was hopeless and settled with skipping most of his classes. Naturally, Akashi came and beat his ass up for almost getting kicked off the basketball team, now that he was below the expected grade point average. How was he supposed to know good grades equal access to sports teams? He was never told. Or he didn't pay attention during the orientation. The latter seemed more plausible.
Sighing, Aomine sauntered languidly into the prestigious high school; one he was lucky to even have been accepted into. He really wasn't in the mood to deal with his teachers, let alone do veritable work. He was much too lazy.
With a yawn, Aomine rapped his knuckles on his class's door loudly, not really caring who he might disturb. As the door whipped open, Aomine inwardly smirked at his sensei's irritated expression. "Late again, Aomine."
"Eh~ Who cares? I'm here now, ain't I?" pushing past his teacher, the ganguro plopped down onto his desk's chair, raising his feet to settle on the makeshift table. "You need to start showing up on time! I will report you to the office if you are late again!"
Aomine rolled his eyes in response. His teacher always gave him the same lecture. Every. Single. Fucking. Day. It annoyed him.. To say the least. What's the point of showing up if he is just gonna fail? Such a waste of his precious time. He should be on the roof, napping right now. But, no~. Akashi threatened to burn all his debauch magazines if he didn't at least attend some classes.
Why did he choose this one again? This was probably one of the worst classes he could have selected. Yet here he was. Aomine sighed.
"Whatever."
Aomine's teacher, Shiro-sensei, grumbled under his breath and reluctantly proceeded with teaching, deciding to forget the ganguro's rude interruption. Aomine was delighted to acknowledge that.
After class, Aomine made a B-line for the stairs. He attended one class, that should be good enough for now. Baby steps right? Unfortunately, his journey toward paradise was interrupted when he felt someone bump into him, causing them both to tumble over.
"What the.." the tan male trailed off, taking note of all the books scattered around him.
"Apologies, I didn't mean to bump into you," the soft voice had Aomine snapping his head around, looking 'this way and that' confused. He could have sworn he heard someone speak just then. Paranoia invaded his thoughts. A ghost?!
"Ano, I'm right here." The hand waving from side to side in front of his face allowed him to finally become conscious of the person he had, previously, bumped into. Jumping away from the other in shock, Aomine pointed an accusatory finger at the male. "W-where'd you come from?!"
"I've been here the whole time. I was the one whom you ran into. I deeply apologize for my clumsiness," the student bowed, causing Aomine to feel slightly uncomfortable.
"It's whatever.. Geez you don't have to be so formal," Aomine rubbed the back of his head with a grim expression. Who was this kid anyways?
Taking a moment to observe the other, Aomine noticed pale skin, along with teal blue hair and eyes standing out the most. How had he not seen him? This kid's looks basically stick out like a sore thumb.
The 'kid' didn't respond, struggling to collect all his fallen possessions, to which Aomine realized before kneeling down to help. "My bad. Where were you headed with so many books and papers, anyways?" Aomine asked before accumulating a little more than half the items into his own arms.
The smaller male tilted his head, however, his face resumed impassiveness. "You don't need to carry those. I was doing just fine myself." Aomine scoffed at that.
"Obviously not if you ran into me. Could you even see any of these?!"
The books Aomine was holding just about reached his shoulders, not to mention, Kuroko was still holding quite a few of them.
"Not one bit. It's not like I am in any position to complain, though," the blunette deadpanned, which caused the taller one to sigh. "Whatever. You never answered my question, though! Where were you taking these? I might as well help you considering you're so small and weak."
The unnamed student narrowed his piercing blue eyes. "I never asked you to help. And who are you to call me small and weak?"
"You could barely carry half of these books without tumbling over. I'd say that's pretty damn weak," Aomine smirked mockingly to which Kuroko scoffed. "You aren't in any place to talk, y'know. You didn't seem to be paying attention either. Someone obviously isn't very observant."
The tanned male barked out a laugh. "As if! I'm one of the most observant people ever! You can ask anyone on the basketball team and they'd agree with me."
The opposing male just raised an eyebrow before rolling his eyes in exasperation. Of course. He just had to run into one of the most arrogant guys at his school. He couldn't catch a break, could he?
"Of course. Though, why would I waste my time, when I just had a run-in with the "most observant person ever"? The same person who just happened to bump into me. Yeah~ So observant~," the snarky reply irked Aomine a bit. This kid sure had some guts. Annoying guts. Yet, it amused him somehow.
"What's your name, kid?" Aomine uttered, a smirk growing on his face again.
"Kuroko Tetsuya."
"Kuroko Tetsuya, huh? Well, I'm Aomine Daiki," the ganguro chuckled gruffly before turning down the hall. "I'm gonna assume you were taking these to the library."
"Your assumption would be correct and I already know who you are," Kuroko trailed next to the tanned male, looking up at him stoically again. It creeped Aomine out slightly. This kid has no emotion.
"You do? How?!" Aomine screeched, eyeing Kuroko skeptically.
"I'm in a few of your classes, Aomine-kun." Aomine stared at the teal-head blankly for a couple seconds. Was he really?!
"Hah?! Seriously?!" Aomine bellowed, almost dropping the load he was carrying. Kuroko ignored him, trudging ahead of the tanned male abruptly. Aomine squawked and raced to catch up with him. "Damn! Don't walk so fast!"
"Aomine-kun, why weren't you in class?" the blunette queried, shifting the bundle of items in his arms a bit more comfortably. "You said before that you were on the basketball team. Can't you get kicked off if you don't attend class?"
"Hah~? School is boring as fuck. Why should I take part in something I'm just gonna fail in?" Aomine shrugged before lightly kicking open the library doors, holding it open for Kuroko.
"Thank you."
The two walked in with Kuroko instructing Aomine on where to place the books. "I appreciate the help, Aomine-kun. I recommend you get to class now. It would be bad for you to get in trouble because of me," the blunette suggested, loading the books onto a cart.
"Nah~ Too lazy. I was heading to the roof when I bumped into you. It's not like I was going to class or nothin'," Aomine yawned loudly. Kuroko glowered at the tanned male. "You really should go, Aomine-kun."
"I already told you no. You ain't my mom." Kuroko shook his head in displeasure. It was like talking to a child.
Ignoring the male, Kuroko started off toward the bookshelves before loading the items into their respective areas. The blunette was a member of the library committee, meaning during his second period, he would be in charge of organizing and keeping books in order. Having good grades come in handy.
In addition, Kuroko loved reading; having peace and quiet in the library to read to his heart's content? How could he deny that? Unfortunately, today was not gonna be one of those days.
As Kuroko was stocking the shelves, Aomine loudly pulled out a chair before plopping down onto it. "What about you? Why aren't you in class? Does your sensei have you take books down to the library every day or something?"
Kuroko looked over at Aomine blankly. "No, I joined the library committee. I collect books from students and restock the shelves. If I finish early, I usually just read one of them."
The ganguro grunted in acknowledgement. "So basically, you just hang around here in an empty library for a whole period? Wow, you're lucky."
Kuroko didn't respond.
"If I were you, I'd use all this time to catch up on all the sleep this hellhole makes me lose. Like damn! Why do we need to be here so fucking early?! It makes no sense," Aomine whined, dropping his head on the table noisily.
"Please don't be so noisy, Aomine-kun." The tanned male just grumbled in response.
They were in a library but it's not like anyone was there. He could be as loud as he wanted, goddammit!
Ironically, silence soon followed after. All you could hear was the shifting of books as Kuroko arranged each one into their designated areas. Aomine just stared at the ceiling, bored. This is what he'd be doing in class right now (if he had attended). Good thing he didn't though. Even if he was bored in the library, at least he didn't have to listen to his annoying teachers' lecture.
"So aside from this library shit, have you joined any other clubs?" Aomine asked indifferently, glancing back at the blunette. Acknowledging the tone, Kuroko knew Aomine was just trying to start a conversation as a means to ease his boredom.
Giving in, Kuroko sighed. "Not many clubs interest me."
The opposed male raised an eyebrow at that. "Not even sports? Man, no wonder you are so weak. You've never played anything before, huh?"
Kuroko shrugged before walking back over toward Aomine to return the cart. "No. Like I said, they don't interest me."
"Whatever you say," Aomine leaned back in his chair, feet propped up on the table. Kuroko was tempted to pull his chair out from underneath him but decided against it. He didn't need to start a fight so early in the morning.
"If you aren't going to check out a book, I suggest leaving, Aomine-kun," the blunette urged, so desperately wanting his alone time. How long was this ganguro gonna stay anyways? Didn't he say he wanted to take a nap? He should go do that!
"Eh~ Too lazy," Aomine's eyes were shut and, to Kuroko, it looked as if he was about to fall asleep. Sighing, Kuroko took the seat next to Aomine and began reading his novel. As long as the taller teen was silent, Kuroko would accept his presence.
About 30 or so minutes passed when the bell rang, signalling students to hastily make their way to third period. Kuroko shoved his book into his backpack before glancing at the napping teen.
Should he wake him up? They did have the next period together so if Aomine notified the sensei Kuroko was with him before class, they'd both be in trouble. Aomine, for being late or possibly missing. Kuroko, for not making sure Aomine got to class on time.
With another sigh, Kuroko gently shook the tanned teen's shoulder. "Aomine-kun, it's time to go to class." When he received no response, Kuroko pulled on the chair resulting in Aomine falling roughly on the ground. That definitely woke him up.
"What the hell?! What do you want?!" Aomine bellowed, rubbing his sore behind. "You didn't have to pull the chair out from underneath me, dammit!"
Kuroko shrugged with an impassive expression. "You didn't wake when I shook you so I chose the second option."
"You little shit!" Aomine went to grab at the blunette's arm when the library doors suddenly opened. "Ah~ Kuroko-kun! Thank you so much for watching the library!"
Turning toward the door, Aomine took notice of the brunette woman standing there with a smile. "It was no problem, Aida-senpai. I do it everyday. It will never be an issue," Kuroko bowed. "I shall be off now. Let's go, Aomine-kun."
With that, Kuroko proceeded to drag the gangruo out of the library swiftly.
"Hey! You don't need to fucking pull me!" Aomine wailed, yanking his arm out of Kuroko's hold once outside the library. "What the hell, man?!"
"Please lower your voice, Aomine-kun. I had to get both of us out quickly before we got into any trouble. Now, we shall head to class," Kuroko started walking down the hall. Aomine stood frozen, watching the blunette trudge ahead.
The hell?
Sighing, Aomine reluctantly followed after the teal-head. At least he could tell Akashi he went to two classes instead of one—even if two classes wasn't a whole lot.
As they proceeded down the hall, Aomine realized Kuroko was going the exact same direction as him. Once they arrived, Kuroko opened the door swiftly, instantly belining to his desk. The tanned male stood in the doorway appalled.
This weirdo kid was in his third period?! What other classes did the two have together?! Forget that, why hadn't he noticed?!
"Aomine, would you like to continue gaping at the entrance like a dope or take a seat?" Aomine was shaken from his thoughts by his sensei. The teacher's tone was laced with vexation.
Grumbling under his breath, Aomine hurriedly made his way over to his desk before flopping down into it. Glancing around, the teen caught sight of the blunette who happened to be a couple seats down from him. He was this close and I never noticed?!
Aomine rested his head on the desk. His brain hurt now and it was all thanks to that short blunette whom he previously ran into. That guy was a complete mystery to him. He was slightly intrigued, though, in a strange way.
The two just met, however, Aomine wanted to know more about him. It would usually be hard to miss a guy with bright blue hair and eyes. It just had to be! Yet here he was! Shocked by the fact he never knew the kid even attended his school.
Rubbing his temples, Aomine observed the boy from behind. He didn't seem like the type to make friends, let alone hang out with any. The blunette gave off a vibe that just screamed 'I wanna be alone with my studies and books'. At least to Aomine it seemed that way.
An idea popped into the gangruo's brain. Maybe the blunette could tutor him! That would be a good way to get to know him better and get his grades up. Good thinking Daiki. Smart as usual.
Inwardly smirking at his brilliance, Aomine decided on asking Kuroko to tutor him at lunch. The teen had to have some friends so Aomine would probably find him roaming the mess hall, anyways.
Accepting and settling with that idea, Aomine continued to drift into his own little world, completely ignoring his sensei. Like always.
