Take a swan dive off the roof.
You can't be a hero.
His mom didn't want to be associated with him so much she had a villain kill her.
I don't want to deal with you so don't do anything and I'll pay for the apartment.
You didn't save me, I didn't need your help.
"Hey, you're the boy that saved that explosion brat earlier right?" a woman asked.
"Huh?" I asked, looking to see a tall woman with long straight black hair.
"You saved him right? You want to be a hero don't you?" she asked.
"Yeah, but I'm quirkless," I said.
"Boy, that isn't what matters. You have the will of a hero, I want to help you," she said, looking at me. "Do you know how I am?"
"Um, no."
"I'm Nari Fukihara, better known as Iron Sage. I'm going to train you to be a hero and you will become the bearer of my quirk Hero's Will," she said. "Meet me at Dagobah beach and we will talk about it more before getting you in shape."
"Th-thank you," I said, tearing up and falling to my knees. "I-I won't let you down."
"I know you won't, boy," she said, walking away.
I went home and made myself some katsudon. I ate, did my homework, and went to sleep. I woke up and got dressed for school and left. The day went by normally except I was left alone and no one made a point to mess with me. I left and went home to change into some clothes to work out in before heading to Dagobah beach. I got there and looked to see that it was covered in trash.
"There you are, was wondering if you got lost," Mrs. Fukihara said, walking up to me in the sand.
"I was too," I said. "I wanted to ask, you said I would be the bearer of your quirk, how?"
"I guess I should explain. My quirk is Iron Sage, same as my hero name. Hero's Will is a quirk that lets the bearer to pass down their quirk and the new bearer will be able to use all the previous users' quirks. You don't get all the quirks at once but unlock them. Kinda like leveling up in a game," she said.
"Um, what number would I be?" I asked, curious as to how many quirks I would get.
"You are number eleven. You will be getting nine quirks," she explained. "I've asked my good friend to come help as your task before getting my quirk will be a little difficult."
"I'd say more than a little," a voice called out.
"All Might?" I asked, confused as to why the number one was here in his deflated form.
"How do you know about that?" Mrs. Fukihara asked.
"After I saved him from the sludge villain the first time he found out. I guess it's a good thing Nari chose you because I wanted to apologize and say that you can be a hero," he said. "Also, please call me Mr. Yagi."
"Th-thank you," I said. "So, what's my task?"
"You're going to clean the beach," Mrs. Fukihara plainly stated.
"What?" I asked.
"Your goal is to clean this whole beach before the entrance exam in ten months. You will load the trash in either Toshinori's truck or his trailer and he will take it to the dump. He also made a workout plan for you as well as a nutrition plan," she explained.
"Don't worry, it isn't too bad," Mr. Yagi said, handing me a couple of slips of paper.
"Grk," I choked, looking at the workout plan.
"Trust me, it'll get easier as you go," he assured me.
"Well, guess it's time to get started," I said, going and picking up some of the smaller but still heavy trash.
Before I knew it ten months had passed and the beach was cleaned. The final thing I had to lift out was a car (how it got there was beyond me) I dragged it up the steps for a tow truck to take to the dump.
"Wow, no offense but I honestly expect for Nari or I to have to step in and help a bit," Mr. Yagi said.
"I honestly thought that one of you would help if I slipped and was half expecting to slip," I admitted.
"Eh, I thought you could do it," Mrs. Fukihara said. "Drink this," she added, tossing me a bottle with an energy drink in it.
"Thanks," I said. The taste was weird compared to other energy drinks I had but I didn't think much of it. "So, how do you pass it down?"
"Are you done?" she asked, motioning to the bottle.
"Yeah."
"So, you have to take some of my DNA so I put a drop of my blood in there," she said bluntly.
"Alright, ew," I said.
"Here," Mr. Yagi said, tossing me a bottle of water. I downed it immediately.
"You should be able to use Iron Sage immediately. I want you to close your eyes and focus on finding the power you now have and feel it fill your whole body then run to the edge of the beach," she said, explaining how to use it.
"Alright," I said, closing my eyes. I felt this power that felt like a flame. I pushed the flame through my whole body and felt it in my limbs. I opened my eyes and ran to the edge and got there faster than normal. "Woah."
"Not bad. Your reaction times will be faster and your body will be more limber. Now go rest up and get ready for the UA exams tomorrow," she said. "Actually, are your parents home?"
"Oh, my dad is on a business trip in America. After my mom died he had to start taking longer trips for work and more often. I live mostly on my own," I said.
"Oh, sorry for bringing it up," she said.
"It's fine," I said, turning and heading home.
I went to bed early after a quick shower. I woke up and made myself a quick breakfast. I ran to UA in my uniform with a tank-top and shorts in my bag. I walked in slightly tripping but catching myself. I took the written test and knew I passed with flying colors. When I went to where we were going to have the practical explanation I had to sit next to Bakugou who was seething. Except for a quick interruption from a boy with blue hair the explanation was smooth and clear. When I got to the center I was going to be taking the practical at, I saw a girl with something dangling from her ears fidgeting. I started to head towards her when the boy from before stopped me.
"What do you think you're doing? Can't you tell she is nervous?" he asked.
"Yes, which is why I was going to try to calm her down to increase her chance of passing," I said. "You should think before you interrupt something. It was very rude to interrupt Present Mic during the explanation and me just now. If you want to be a hero you have to know when to interrupt and when not to. If you think a hero just fights villains you might want to change career paths," I added, continuing to my goal. "Hey, take a deep breath. You are going to do good," I said, in a calm voice.
"I-I don't think so. My quirk isn't really built for fighting robots," she said, raising her earlobes that had aux jacks on the ends.
"What can you do with them, I might be able to help," I said.
"Well, they are durable and I can stab things with them. I can also send my heartbeat through them as vibrations," she explained.
"Well, what if you stabbed the robots and used the vibrations to mess the electronics on the inside," I offered.
"Huh, that's a good idea. I'm Jirou by the way," she said, holding her hand out.
"Midoriya, good luck," I said, shaking it. Holy crap, I just talked to a girl my age and didn't go on a mumble spree about her quirk. I thought, walking away.
"Go!" I heard Present Mic say as the doors opened. I dashed in with Iron Sage activated and started smashing bots up. "What are you doing? There are no countdowns in real life. That green kid has the right idea!" he added.
For around five minutes I ran around both fighting bots and helping others who were in a pinch. At the end of five minutes I heard a loud boom and turned to see where people were running from to see a giant robot taller than the buildings. I then saw the girl from before under a small boulder. I quickly turned and ran to her.
"Hey, are you alright?" I asked.
"Um, just a little stuck," she said.
"Well, you can be snarky so that's good. I'll get this off you and slow that thing down," I said, lifting the boulder up with Iron Sage. I then looked at the giant robot and felt a surge of energy as I jumped up to its face and punched it with a powered fist destroying it. I then started to fall and realized I couldn't move my legs or hands.
Crap crap crap crap. I'm going to die.
"No you won't," a voice said in my head.
My vision became black and I was in a smokey scape. "Where am I?"
"This is part of Hero's Will. I'm Rimuru, the ninth user. You're unlocking my quirk so you don't die," the same voice said. I turned to see a person with long blue hair, golden eyes, wearing a strange outfit with a fur scarf.
"I thought I wouldn't unlock them for a while."
"Normally no, but the quirk thought that you wouldn't survive without mine. I'm amazed that you did that for a stranger. I guess I should explain my quirk. It's called slime," they said. "It gives you the ability to turn into a slime along with any animal you've seen. It has to be a small one like a cat or weasel and you have the strength and abilities of it," they explained. "This is what you will look like as a slime," they added, jumping up and landing as an azure orb about thirty centimeters in diameter. "Nice talking to you, good luck," they said as darkness turned away as I came back to reality.
I quickly envisioned the slime form and landed with a small jolt of force that made my body jiggle for a bit. I turned back sitting down and looked at my broken legs and arm before falling backwards and unconscious. I woke up in a bright white room.
"What happened?" I asked aloud.
"You took down the zero pointer before going into the slime form," an old lady said. "I can't believe Nari didn't warn you about that aspect of the two of you's quirk," she added.
"Come on, Recovery Girl. I didn't expect her to figure out about Iron Force yet," Mrs. Fukihara said, sitting next to me.
"What's Iron Force?" I asked, looking at her.
"Basically you put most of Iron Sage in a single limb and push it to the max. The thing is it was too much for your body to handle and broke your bones. I didn't think about it when passing it down because it took me a year to learn about it myself," Mrs. Fukihara explained.
"I can't believe a pro like you forgot about that when passing down Hero's Will," Recovery Girl said.
"Wait, you know about it?" I asked.
"Yeah, some of UA's staff know, including the Principal," Mrs. Fukihara said.
"O-oh, I didn't realize so many people knew. I don't think I'm going to tell anyone yet," I said, looking at my predecessor.
"It's up to you, just make sure you trust them completely. If you trust them then I'm alright with it," she added. "Also, you got slime. I don't think anyone has unlocked their second quirk as fast as you. So, I'm going to explain how I use it and how we can explain you using it too. I use the transformations just to get information. I don't make it obvious but that's kinda out the window for you. We can say that your strength and slime are two separate parts of your quirk. The slime is a transformation you unlocked as a survival tactic," she explained, looking at me.
"Hmm, we could just say that we don't know how it happened. I think that would be better as it would leave an explanation for my future quirks and we can make a single reason that will be better and more concise," I suggested.
"Not a bad idea boy. Just a warning, if you go unconscious in slime form you stay in that form. I recommend you try it out while you wait for your results. Now head home and relax, you deserve it," Mrs. Fukihara said, smiling.
I left UA and walked home. I spent the next day testing what animals I could turn into and even turned into a unicorn at one point. I then decided to test my limits and tried to change into I went to sleep the next night in slime form and actually woke up more rested and relaxed. I did some light training and kept my diet and workout routine. The next week went by before the big day came.
"This is it," I said, holding the folder. I opened it and a metal disk fell out and onto my desk.
"I AM HERE AS HOLOGRAM!" All Might announced as a hologram version of him came out of the disc. "I'm sure you're wondering why I am doing this. It is because I am teaching at UA starting this year. Now, you passed the written portion with the highest score UA has seen from a person without an intelligence quirk. You also passed the practical with 68 Villain points, but what kind of hero course would we be if we didn't look at the times you helped others. You were given another 77 Hero points making your total 145 points earning the highest score UA has ever seen beating my 128 points. Welcome to your hero academia."
"YES!" I yelled, jumping up.
I took out the form and read what I needed to do. I was in class 1-A and I had to design my hero costume. I based it off of my original design of when I was younger but with added pads on the chest and shoulders, legs, and boots and gloves designed to protect my body when fighting. I removed the cowl and mask. It was light green with white lining with the boots being red. I signed the forms I needed to and then forged my father's signature. I then got to where it said quirk name and description and stopped. I quickly pulled out my phone and called Mrs. Fukihara.
"What do you need, boy?" she asked.
"Um, well we never really came up with a name for my quirk," I pointed out.
"Hrm, what were you thinking?"
"Well, for now Iron Will and then maybe later change it to Iron Legacy?" I offered.
"Hmm, sure, but it will have to be after you gain the others and if you use them more showy than me then we need to find an explanation as to how," she said.
"We should have some more time to figure it out," I said, hopeful.
"Yeah, but I have a feeling that you might eat those words. Try not to get into trouble, boy," she said, hanging up.
I continued filling out the forms and put them in the envelope and sent it in. I got my uniform a week later and tried to figure out the tie(and failed) until it was finally the day I was waiting for, my first day.
I woke up, did my stretches and did a quick workout. I then put my uniform on, made breakfast, and headed out. I walked(read jogged) to UA and found my way to the enormous door to 1-A. I took a deep breath and opened the door.
"The fuck are you here for Deku?" Bakugou asked, immediately as I walked in.
"Same as you, class. I had hoped to finally be rid of you too," I deadpanned, walking to my desk and putting my head down. Holy crap did I really just do that?! I thought under the clam(ish) expression on my face.
I watched as a bunch of people with very interesting mutations walked in. What caught me off guard was a ten year old boy with small round glasses, red hair, and a staff on his back walked in and sat behind me. A short girl with a red cloak over her uniform walked in holding hands with a taller girl with cat ears on her head.
"Hey, you made it green," a voice from behind me said.
"Oh, hey," I said, turning to see the girl from the entrance exam. "Jirou right?"
"Yeah. Thanks for saving me dude. I thought you were going to go splat before you turned into that slime form," she said.
"To be completely honest, I thought I was going to go splat too."
"What do you mean?"
"That was the first time I turned into a slime. It's making me kinda rethink my quirk because I thought it was just a strength enhancer but now I don't know, also can you please not mention it as I don't want others to know yet."
"If you're here to socialize you can leave," a tired voice said. I looked to see a gruff man holding a bright yellow sleeping bag. "I'm your teacher Mr. Aizawa, put these on and get out to the field," he said, tossing pe uniforms.
I just sighed and picked one that would fit me up and walked to the changing room. Eventually we all got out.
"Took you long enough, you can't waste precious time, that's why we won't go to the entrance ceremony," he said. "Midoriya, you got first on the entrance exam, what was your farthest softball throw?"
"Hmm, fifty meters," I said, thinking back.
"Try it with your quirk," he said, tossing a small metal ball to me.
"Alright," I said. I went into the circle and focused Iron Sage throughout my whole body. I opened my eyes and as I went to throw felt it all vanish. "What?" I asked, stopping.
"If you were going to destroy your arm just to get a good score think again," Mr. Aizawa said, his hair floating.
"You erased my quirk, didn't you Eraserhead?"
"Hmm, you know who I am. If you just break yourself then you won't be of use to anyone."
"I wasn't planning on using True Will yet because I can't control it. I was just going to use my base Iron Will," I explained.
"What are you talking about?"
"My quirk Iron Will is an enhancer for my whole body, True Will pushes past my limits but breaks my body. I won't be useless," I said, turning and throwing with Full Iron Will causing a slight wave of air as I sent the ball flying. I turned and saw him smirking under his scarf. He wanted me to do that.
"Not too bad," he said, holding up a device reading 1274.39 meters.
"DEKU!" Bakugou yelled, charging me with explosions before getting wrapped up in Mr. Aizawa's scarf and having his quirk erased.
"Are you trying to get expelled?" Mr. Aizawa asked. "Attacking or attempting to will cause you to be not only thrown out of UA but blacklisted from all other hero schools. Don't be irrational," he added, releasing him.
"We get to use our quirks, this is going to be fun!" a pink girl said.
"'Fun'? Alright, let's make this fun. Whoever is in last at the end is expelled," Mr. Aizawa said.
"What?"
"That's not fair," a student with blonde hair complained.
"Life's not fair. Villains cause chaos, people die, natural disasters, car crashes, a kid not having a quirk till age fifteen; is any of this fair?" I asked. "It's our job as heroes to deal with life's unfairness and make it more fair for normal people. If you thought this would be fair then I recommend rethinking your position in life and where you should be heading, as heroics isn't a fair job."
"Couldn't have said it better myself. You were taught well problem child," Mr. Aizawa said, looking at me. "Now onto the next event."
I was consistently top five in all events but the stretch as I wasn't very flexible so I only got tenth. What surprised me was the ten year old was keeping up and even passing us in some events. When it came to the distance run he took out his wooden staff and rode it while a girl with a black cloak, grey skin, and a red stone in her forehead flew. The red cloaked girl became a swirl of red rose petals while the cat-eared girl produced clones of herself propelling herself forward.
"I won't try to explain how you were placed, just look at the results," Mr. Aizawa sighed. I noticed I was first and Bakugou was sixth. "Also, I won't expel any of you. Now go to the room and pick up the forms. Also don't expect tomorrow to be any easier," he sighed.
AN-
So, this is a rewrite of my Legacy fic. I had a few ideas that I figured weren't going to work how I wanted in the original fic so I took the order of how Hero's Will was passed down and mixed it up a bit. I also changed what quirks and who had what quirk in Hero's Will. I added some characters you might've noticed. They will be named in the next chapter. Also I do plan for Izuku to be hit by gender swap, only the moment will change and the character will be named. 1-A is mostly the same. Some characters from my favorite shows and books will appear for one off appearances. I hope you liked this. Please follow, favorite, kudos, and comment. Also, have a good day!
