Chapter Thirty-Three!
26th of November:
It had been a couple of days since Harry completed the first task, and it was the start of his weekend. The weekend that wasn't starting the best either, as he had been called to the Headmaster's office. Whilst it wasn't unexpected, he had thought it would have happened sooner, as he knew the old man would have want to learn about the 'spell' he used to transform into a Dragon Hybrid. Harry knew it wasn't one of his best plans using his Drakonid form like that, but when facing another Drakonid, at the time he didn't have much of an option, as that had caught him off guard, as he thought the reminder of their race was in hiding, and wouldn't be hiding among the normal dragons and so be used for this task. Not that he was too bother about it, as it gave him the chance to let his true self out, and no longer a need to hide it.
Harry smiled as he remembered the end of the task, he wasn't sure if it was fear or the shock of seeing him as a Dragon Hybrid with another Dragon Hybrid kneeling next to him, but he had gotten full marks for his task. Once he got his points though, his Drakonid instincts still overwhelming him, he destroyed all except for two of the Horntails eggs, as he might be able to use them depending on what the sex of the eggs was.
No one said anything as the two Dragon Hybrids/Drakonids flew off into the skies. He lead the female Drakonid to the Chamber of Secrets, where she used her magic to become a few inches smaller than her new Master/Mate. He then showed his Pets to her, and warned her if she wasn't careful she would become a Pet like them. It would seem that the Drakonid was named Dracul. Dracul was still shocked at what happened to her, being more or less raped by the Black Drakonid, a king of their race. Harry hoped that she would get over it soon, as he didn't want her too submissive like a Pet, but still submissive like the rest of his Mates.
For the next couple of days, whenever Harry was walking around the hallways, in classes or in the Great Hall, there would be whispers about what happened at the First Task. Some of the Slytherins wanted to act out against Harry, but with a Horntail Dragon Hybrid following just behind Harry like a servant and an Auror Bodyguard next to him, it would be foolish.
Harry wasn't surprised that there was news of it in the papers, there were many theories as to how Harry had done the transformation. In fact, Rita Skeeter even went as far as saying he used the Dark Arts, and had a few people backing it up. However, so far though, no reporter, like everyone else was brave enough to come near him.
On Saturday morning though, he was asked nicely, more like ordered, to come to the Headmaster's Office so they could talk about a few things. So here he was with Auror Tonks and Dracul walking down the Gargoyle Corridor towards the Gargoyle that protected the entrance to the Headmaster's Office.
"Fudge Flies!" Harry said as the gargoyle sprang suddenly to life and hopped aside as the wall behind him split in two. Harry and his two companions stepped onto the spiral staircase as they begun moving smoothly upward, as they did they hear the wall thud closed behind them. They rose upward in circles, higher and higher, until at last, slightly dizzy, they saw a gleaming oak door ahead, with a brass knocker in the shape of a griffin.
Knocking on it, Harry heard Dumbledore say, "Come on in Harry my boy." As Harry entered the office, he had to wonder how the hell the Headmaster knew it was him, some ward or something, although he was meant to be there, he could be running a bit late and someone else knocked on the door.
Either way as the three entered the office, he saw the Judges from the First Task, the Minister of Magic, and two other people, one being a pink toad looking lady, and a man in his fifties.
The toad looking lady though, there was something about her that put Harry on edge. He didn't know what it was, but the look that she was giving him and Dracul, it was one of disgust and hatred, and Harry could only guess why.
"Thank you Auror Tonks, you may wait outside for Harry he won't be long, we just need to talk to Harry about the First Task." Headmaster Dumbledore said in his grandfather like tone of voice, thinking he would get his way.
But it wasn't to be, as Tonks said politely but firmly, "Forgive me Headmaster Dumbledore, but as LORD," making the point in using Harry's proper title, "Potter's bodyguard I'm not allowed to leave for any reason, so whatever you say, can be said to me also."
Dumbledore and the others knew that they couldn't do anything to remove Auror Tonks, as she had every right to be there. All Dumbledore could do was try and convince the Auror to leave, and he thought because he was her old Headmaster, and the respect that he held in the Magical Isles of England, she would leave - but it wasn't the case. Therefore, they decided to get to the point of the meeting.
"Now thank you Lord Potter for coming," began Barty Crouch, "as you may already guessed, we would like to ask you a few questions about the First Task."
Before he could continue, there was a knock on the door, as Dumbledore said, "Come in Madam Bones."
As Madam Bones entered the office, she said, "I'm sorry for being late, but something came up at the Ministry that I had to deal with." Harry could see her giving Fudge and the toad lady a dark look for some reason.
"No worries Madam Bones they just told me that they have a few questions about the First Task." Harry explained, "Although they haven't introduced pink toad lady or who the person with her is." Harry pointed to the unknown man.
Whilst there were some snickers among the group, or looks of amusement, two people who were not happy about this were Fudge and the toad lady. In the past, he might be sorry for his actions, but with his new side of him, and being able to show them, he wasn't one bit sorry.
"How dare you call me that, don't you know who I am Potter?" asked the toad like lady, "I'm Madam Umbridge, the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic."
"Ech, he is sleeping with you." Harry commented in disgust, shocking everyone there, not that Harry cared. There was something about her that made him ill, anxious and aggressive. It took everything that he had not to attack her.
"How dare you -" began the toad, as she pulled her wand out.
But that was as far as she got, before Dumbledore disarmed her, and looking disappointed at Harry he said, "Lord Potter, that was uncalled for."
"I apologize, but something about her is making me a bit more aggressive than normal, and well just say you're lucky I stopped at that." Harry admitted with a hint of darkness in his eyes, it had promise of pain towards the woman if she made a wrong move towards him. Seeing the look in Harry's eyes, Umbridge stepped back in fear of what Harry could do. Harry then continued to say, "But that doesn't mean I'm wrong though, as before she started there was no such position, so why make one up if Fudge wasn't sleeping with her?"
As much as anyone would like to disagree, they often wondered why would Fudge make up the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic, some had a few thoughts about why. Some even thought they were sleeping with each other. Whilst the idea of the two doing it with each other made every one with the thought ill, the Minister and the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic had red faces and had looks that sent Harry a clear message that the two of them wanted Harry dead.
"Anyway, I don't see any reason for her being here, who is the other man here today?" Harry asked more politely.
"My name is Mr. Lennox, and I'm the head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures ," explained the man in question, he had red hair and light blue eyes, "I'm here to see about this hybrid dragon you got here, and how she came to be."
Before Harry could say anything, it was Dracul who hissed angrily in reply, "I am Dracul, a Drakonid, an ancient race of old, not some hybrid dragon from those things you call dragons, and they are only beasts. They might have some intelligence, but they are nothing compared to Drakonids."
Harry just smiled at the shocked faces of the Tournament Judges, they didn't suspect Dracul would be able to understand them, nor be able to speak back to them in their language. However as the shock wore off, it was Mr. Lennox who said, "Forgive me if I insulted you, I know nothing of your race, as I have heard nothing of you before today. We'll get back to you soon; I think it would be best if we start from the beginning and work our way up to how you came to Dracul. Don't you all agree?" All the others apart for Fudge and Umbridge who were still angry at Harry for what he said about them, although Umbridge had more disgust and hatred in her eyes as she looked at Dracul. Harry could only think she hated any who weren't full Purebloods, and could become a problem to him later on.
Either way, Mr. Crouch started by asking, "Okay at the start of the task, you entered the arena on a female Centaur, who is she and why did you do so?
Harry just smiled at this, this was one of many questions he was suspecting them to ask him, and so with a smile he said, "That would be Sara Mr. Crouch, she is my Pet, all the forms for her are signed and recorded with the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures and Magical Law Enforcement ."
"I remember those forms, a mother and daughter if I remember rightly", admitted the Head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures , in which Harry nodded in agreement to what the man said, shocking everyone there. "I handle those personally, as there aren't many Pets now days, and I'm interested in those people who have them. I want to make sure they treat their Pets fairly, in fact I meant to set up a meeting with you soon, but I have been busy with sorting out the dragons for the First Task, and for the other Tasks too, making sure nothing go wrong."
This allowed Harry to find out that he'll be facing other Creatures in the other two tasks, and so had an area to start training up on. Although he was glad that the man didn't say anything about his other Pets though.
"It'll be easy enough for me to find out if the forms are in the Magical Law Enforcement ," admitted Madam Bones, "I'll need a few days as the forms are handled in another part of my Department. But I would like to ask, why do you have two female Centaurs as Pets."
Harry smiled at the woman, he liked her, she was fair and honest, and so had no problem reply to her question. "I can't go into full detail, as it is between me and them, but Sara and her mother, Remedy, had problems with their herd, namely Sara's father. He didn't like me being friends with his daughter as I am human. Either way one thing lead to another, and mother and daughter become my Pets."
"Fair enough Lord Potter," Ludo Bagman said with a smile, whilst the others wanted to know more, but had the feeling he wouldn't say any more than needed, "but why would you bring her to the First Task?"
"Why else but to attract more attention to him," Igor Karkaroff said with a sneer, "we all hear what they say about him." Fudge and Umbridge were now nodding in agreement with the Headmaster of the Durmstrang Institute, Harry knew he burnt his bridges with these two, not that Harry was bothered by that.
"What you may or may not have heard Headmaster Karkaroff are probably lies," Harry said, before he admitted, "but I'll admit that I did do this for attention, but not the attention you may think. I did it because I thought if I was forced to participate in this Tournament, I'm going to win and do it in style and make sure I am noticed."
"Why would you want to be noticed Harry, I mean Lord Potter?" the Hogwarts Headmaster asked his student, worried that his plans for the boy would come to nothing. "You're too young to deal with the aftermath to such things." In which the others nodded at this.
"But yet I'm old enough to enter this Tournament," Harry shot back at them, before continuing, "and as for why I did so as I said to be noticed. I may be young, but I want to make a name for myself other than the Boy-Who-Lived and winning this Tournament is one way to do so, and whatever I do in it will help me - be it bad or good. And I do have plans for the future, ones I hope well help put the Potter name and fortune back where it once belonged."
"What ideas are zeses?" asked Olympe Maxime, in which everyone else there was interested to hear the reply too.
"I'm sorry Headmistress Maxime, but my plans for the future is no concern to any of you." Harry replied to the Headmistress of Beauxbatons, this made everyone think, and some were more concerned than others were. Seeing these looks Harry went on to say, "Whilst you lot like to think you have the right to know what I'm up to all the time, you don't, and as a Lord, you have even less rights to know what I've planned."
"Well said Lord Potter, we have no rights to suspect you to tell us your plans." Madam Bones admitted, whilst people like Dumbledore, Fudge and Umbridge wanted to argue, they knew better to do so here and was worried about what the young Lord had planned or was planning. Madam Bones went on carefully to ask, "Now Lord Potter, I think everyone here would like to know is how did what everyone thought was a normal dragon was able to transform to look like a humanoid dragon? A Drakonid, I think Dracul called herself."
This was another question that Harry suspected them to ask, and so said, "From the little that Dracul told me, her race are near extinct, only a few hundred or so left of her race. And to make sure they don't get caught they hide themselves, either among other dragons, or in underground caves protected by their own kind of magic."
"If they were hiding, why did she reveal herself like she did?" This came from Crouch.
"She felt overwhelmed and agitated by everything that had happened," Harry begun to explain, "wouldn't you be if you were her? You were taken from your home, forced to another county, where you found yourself surrounded by humans watching you to fight to protect your eggs, add to the fact that you could smell other dragons nearby too. Normally mothering dragons build a nest away from other dragons and humans, as they feel threatened by other dragons, and fear humans for taking their eggs."
"That is why," this came from Mr. Lennox, "the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures had many run-ins with mothering dragons before, and had lost a few people because of it. We decided that whilst the mothers were nesting, we would leave them alone."
"So with so many smells of humans, and three dragons been in the same area with the eggs, are you surprised she acted the way she did?" asked Harry.
"Not really, in fact it would make any dragon even more aggressive," replied the Head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures , "but why isn't she explaining all this? I would have thought she would be more aggressive, and would be willing to explain things herself."
"Ah she is still getting over that I defeated her, and marked her as mine." explained Harry.
"So it is true about dragons than," Lennox said thoughtfully, "whilst they mate for life, unless their Mate dies, a more powerful male dragon can remark them as theirs. I only heard rumours that this might be possible."
Before Harry or Lennox could say more about this, Madam Umbridge said, "Mr. Lennox as the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic, I want you to take this Creature into your Department so we can run tests on it and see what it can do and if we can find the rest of them."
Before Lennox could say anything, Dracul growled at her while Harry laughed and said, "You can try Madam Umbridge, but it won't work though."
"And why is that Potter?" the pink toad-like lady asked with a sneer, "The Ministry of Magic has every right to study any and all new and old magical races. Even experiment on them to find out how their skills work."
"You're right, you do have that right Madam Umbridge," Harry admitted before he smirked as he went on to say, "however, that's where being a Lord to the Ancient and Noble House of Potter comes in. I've been studying about what a Lord can and cannot do, and I have found out that being from a Founding House of the British Magical World, I have a few perks. One being that if a Founding House finds a new race, we can claim it as our own to do as we like. Two being it is protected so people like you can't get hold of them and do whatever you like. I've sent forms off to the Ministry of Magic to make her mine, so don't think about trying anything with her."
It was Karkaroff who pulled his wand out and foolishly pointed at Dracul, as he said, "Who do you think you are Potter? This is the discovery of -"
However, that was as far as he got as Harry transformed into his dragon hybrid form and gabbed Karkaroff's wand arm and snap it back, breaking the fools hand. "Don't point that wand at what is mine Karkaroff," hissed Harry, before seemingly shaking his head, he transformed back to his human self.
Before he could say anything, Umbridge said, "Auror Tonks arrest Potter for assault on Igor Karkaroff."
Tonks looked conflicted at that order, seeing that Umbridge was just below the Minister, but at the same time, she meant to be guarding the young Lord, at the same time she didn't see anything wrong with what Harry did either. Before she could make a move in one way or another, her boss Madam Bones said, "Hold off on that order Auror."
"Amelia he just attacked Headmaster Karkaroff," said Fudge, worried about the outcome should he be seen not doing anything, "we can't allow him to get away with that."
"I can understand that Cornelius, but the problem is that Karkaroff had it coming to him," Amelia explained to the Minister of Magic, "if Lord Potter had sent the forms to the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, about the new race he found and lay claim on the Drakonid, then he had every right to act the way he did. Alexander," said Amelia as she turned to Lennox, "have you got his forms yet?"
"Not sure Amelia," Alexander admitted, "I've been catching up on some paper that I missed from last week because I was helping with the First Task. Would have been a few days before I would have seen them."
"So until we know for sure Dolores, Harry Potter won't be arrested until we know," Amelia explained to Dolores, giving her a dark look as she was doing so, "you don't want to look like a fool should Lord Potter have claim on the Drakonid."
"No I don't." Dolores said with a sneer as she looked at Harry darkly.
Acting the part of someone innocent, Harry bowed his head and said, "Forgive me everyone, but since I transformed, my instincts have been acting up. I feel myself getting angry much easier than before, and I have other problems too."
"This is the main reason we wanted to see you today Lord Potter," Dumbledore said in his grandfatherly tone of voice, with a hint of concern in his voice and in his eyes, "we would like to learn how you were able to do this transformation, we have never seen this kind of transformation before. It looks like highly advanced magic for someone of your age, and we're worried about the side effects from it."
"Dumbledore is right," Amelia had to admit to Harry, "you said it yourself, your instincts have been acting up, and you get angry with ease, something we all seen with Karkaroff. I would like to know what the spell was, as some fear it might be some kind of Dark Magic."
"Amelia is right Lord Potter," said Harry's Headmaster, "not only do we need to know if it is Dark Magic or not, but to see what else the spell did to you. We need to learn what the spell was, so that we can find a way to undo it before it hurts you, or you hurt others because of your change."
"Oh please Headmaster," Harry scoffed at the Headmaster, "apart for Madam Bones who wants to know if the magic is Dark or not, we both know the real reason you and the others want to know what spell I used, and it's not just to undo it, but want to see if you can use it for yourselves. Or if you can't use it or undo it, find a way to control me, I'll let you know now, that isn't going to happen."
"Please Harry, my boy," Dumbledore ignored Harry sneer at him for calling him by his first name and calling him boy, "don't you see, whatever the spell was, it had a bad side effect. You wouldn't act like this before; please let us see the spell so we can see if we can undo what happened."
Harry scoffed and said with a smile, "Oh please, all the spell did was bring out the feelings I've had for a while now, but didn't have the nerve to act upon otherwise. Anyway, even if I wanted to I can't tell you."
Seeing that people were getting aggregated about Harry not telling them about the spell, Madam Bones said, "Can you explain why you can't tell us about the spell Lord Potter?"
"Or more like he won't." this came from the pink toad.
"Oh partly it is the case of I won't, but more of the case I can't," Harry explained to the pink toad, "the spell came from the Potter Vault, which makes the spell a Potter Family Spell. And as you know, only those who are Blood related or married into the Family can cast the spell."
There were many sighs of frustration upon hearing this, as they all knew that Family Magic's were important, so much so they had laws set to keep them safe from outsiders. They even went as far inventing spells so that families could place magic on Family Spell Books so only family could read it. There won't many still around, because of war and families dying off over time, but there were a few families who had a specific kind of magic that they were better at than anyone else was.
Being the voice of reason, Madam Bones asked, "If you can't tell us what the spell is, can you at least tell us what the spell did to you? As we never heard of such a spell like this."
Harry smiled at this, as he said, "Well I don't know if you know this or not, but I've found out that my family specialized in Transfiguration." It wasn't a lie either, as Harry did find out that his family specialty was in Transfiguration. "They had many spells in Transfiguration, some were useful, some were not. This spell was one of the spells that was both."
"What do you mean?" asked Headmistress Maxime.
"The spell is like the Animagus Magic," Harry explained to the group, "however, where you don't pick what animal you want when you want to learn to become an Animagus, this magic you can pick by which animal/creature you use it on. Be it magical or non-magical."
"Zat doesn't sound too bad, it doesn't sound useless so far." admitted the French Headmistress.
"Normally no it would not be," Harry admitted to the Headmistress, "but it takes a lot of power from us, and you are only able to use it once. So the problem becomes when you're forced to use the spell, if you're able, to escape a place, and the creature that you used it on would be normally useless at any other time and so don't use ever again. It would be useless than, which is why it is hardly used, as until now no one in the family had the power to pull it off. With becoming an Animagus, when you find out what your animal is you don't have to continue with the skill, and don't have to become that animal. If you're lucky, should you wait a few years as you grow old, gain experience and your personality change, you may have a different animal you might become."
"You do make some sense, unless you have the power, and use it on the right animal, it can be useless." admitted Madam Bones, "Don't know about the others, but I have two last questions, first is your Shadow Magic, where did you learn it? From what my niece told me, you never shown signs of this skill before."
"Seeing that she doesn't know me, how would she know what I can or cannot do?" Harry asked Madam Bones, who had to admit that he was right, that he could have had it for a while but no one knew about it 'til now. "But if you must know, I learnt and begun to master the ability during this summer." Than seeing the glee in the toad's face, he knocked it off by saying, "Before you think you got something on me Madam Umbridge, you haven't. The law says I can't use my wand during the summer, which I haven't, I used wandless magic and done it within my local forest so no one could see me. So I done nothing wrong."
"He's right Dolores," Amelia admitted to her colleague, in doing so getting a dark look from her, "there is nothing against the law in doing wandless magic if one can do so, as long as no one sees him, which from what he told us he made sure no one did. Anyway, Lord Potter, this last question is more for my personal inquiry, but how did you tame the dragon in short time, you only left through portal for a few minutes. I don't think you had time to make Dracul submit to you, so she would act like she did at the end of it and allowed you control over her."
"I won't go into detail, as it is between her and me," Harry explained to Amelia and the others, "but I can tell you that the portal I went through, lead to a Shadow Realm where time was different. I don't know if it was hours or days, but I can say that by the end of it I was able to defeat her and made her submit to me. So if there is nothing more, I'll take my leave, as I got the Golden Egg to work on."
"I've got nothing more at the moment, but I'll be in contact soon as I want to talk to you about a few private matters." Amelia told the young Lord.
"I'll await your Owl Madam Bones," replied Harry, "anyone else?"
The Headmaster and Headmistress of the other schools didn't seem to have anything to say, same with Lennox, Crouch and Bagman, but it seemed that Umbridge, Fudge and Dumbledore seemed to want words, and it was Dumbledore who said, "I do Lord Potter; I think it would be for the best that we seal this new power of yours."
"What!?" Harry growled at this, as once again he transformed at the threat at his powers being seal, a growl also came from Dracul.
"Because of you losing your anger so easily, look at how you destroyed all but two of Dracul's eggs," Dumbledore tried to explain his reasonings for sealing Harry powers, "what happens if you lose your anger around the other students."
"I agree with Dumbledore," Umbridge said with glee in her eyes, "we don't want any of our upstanding students to be attacked if you lose your temper."
"It has only been two days since I became like this," Harry said as he waved his hand over this dragon form, before he transformed back to his human form, "and I'm just learning to control this new skill. Moreover, so far I only lose my anger when you lot threaten me, and as for Dracul's eggs, the new instincts of the Drakonid was in control. I just need to learn to control them. I don't see the point of removing my power to become a Drakonid, as I have not committed a crime, I can see being useful for the following Tasks, and defend me against whoever set this all up should they appear. As for your worries about me attacking the students, I can't promise my new instincts won't get the better of me at times, but as long as they don't threaten me or my friends, they would have nothing to fear from me."
"I have to agree with Lord Potter, him being able to transform into a Drakonid can be useful," admitted the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement , "not only for the following Tasks, but also should he meet whoever wanted him in this Tournament. As he said, he has committed no crime for you to have his new powers sealed. Sure he could be a danger, but he only had a few days to control them, and so far from what I've seen today he only acted when threatened."
"What if he attacks someone before he learns to control his power?" asked Fudge, "We can't allow him to go around with so much power that he can't control."
"With Auror Tonks around to make sure things don't getting out of hand, things should be fine." Madam Bones said thoughtfully, "Tell me, how can he learn to master this new ability when it is sealed? He may need it one day, and what then. No, unless he commits a crime with his power, we do nothing, if any of you try without a good reason, I'll charge you all for sealing a Lord's abilities." Than facing Harry she said, "Lord Potter, you may go, me and the others here need to talk about a few things."
"Thank you Madam Bones, will I speak to you later on?" asked Harry.
"Not today no, but I'll send you an Owl about setting up a meeting." replied Madam Bones.
"Okay I'll see you later Madam Bones", said Harry as he turned round to leave.
As Harry was leaving, he heard Mr. Lennox say, "Amelia, if you don't mind I would like to go with Lord Potter, as I would like to talk about his Pets."
"I have no problem with that Alexander," said Amelia, "the main people I want to talk to are the others, they need to be reminded about the law they seem to have forget about."
And so with that Harry, Tonks, Dracul and Mr. Lennox, left Dumbledore's office, as the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement , reminded the others there that day, about the finer points of the law.
