Ben had spent years trying to get the council on board by letting representations of the Isle be a part of the council. The Isle is a part of Auradon for christ sakes, and he hated that he wasn't able to pick his council after becoming king, almost 8 years ago, and now he was stuck with the old members who hate change. His friends and family are the only ones who see his dream and listen to him. Now he just has to deal with what his council will think when they find out that he has invited Isle representatives to come to Auradon.
Ben was standing in his office, pacing back and forth. His friends were watching him, and in all honesty they were getting a little aggravated.
"Ben!" Lonnie yelled, making Ben stop and turn to her. "Stop pacing. Cogsworth is going to have a cow if you burn a hole in the rug," she said.
"What do you expect, Lonnie?" Ben said as he started to pace back and forth again. "I have SEVEN residents of the Isle on their way to the castle as we speak," he said.
"We know you're scared," Chad said as he put an arm around Audrey. "But everyone needs to realize that you have been in contact with someone from the Isle, for nine years, and you know what the living conditions are. When you showed us the letters, it literally made me sick to my stomach," he said.
"I know. I know," Ben said as he ran a hand through his hair. "But, I did this behind the council's back. They're going to be pissed," he said.
"Do you know who is coming?" Audrey asked, making Ben shook his head.
"No, I don't. All I know is that seven are coming," he said. "I would ask in my letters who she is, but she never wrote back with an answer."
"You never said they were a girl," Doug said as he leaned against Ben's desk.
"I don't know for sure that they are a girl, but I get the feeling that they are," he said, and he brushed his hand down his face.
"You have been sending letters and receiving letters to and from the Isle for NINE YEARS, and you don't even know for sure if they are a boy or a girl?" Audrey asked as she stood and pleased a hand on her hip.
"Well, their handwriting is very good," he said as he threw his hands out.
"You have good handwriting, Ben," Jane said.
"I'm the king, and have a mother who made for damn sure my handwriting was better than my father's chicken scratch," he said, trying to make a joke to get his mind off the crap he was going to receive from his council in the next hour.
"I do not write that bad," Adam said as he walked into his son's office, with Belle walking in next to him.
"Adam, you couldn't even read your vows on our wedding day," Belle said, making everyone laugh.
Belle looked at her son and smiled. She didn't want Ben to be stressed about today. He was doing something she and Adam should have done years ago, after they made the Isle. In fact, after Belle found out that there were children there, she wanted to take them all off. They designed the Isle as a prison for villains, not children.
"You know," Adam said as he looked at his wife with a smile. "Let's help Ben. He's stressed."
Ben's frown fell, and now he was thinking about today's meeting.
"You know sweetheart," Belle said. "You're king and you have been for 9 years. You have done an amazing job," she said.
Ben looked around at his friends and his dad, and saw them all nodding in agreement. Ben knew he was a good king, and he knew that his country loved and respected him, even residents of the Isle did.
"Then why is it that everytime, for the past nine years, When I told the council that I wanted to have a representative from the Isle, they always yelled and screamed?" he asked. "Telling me that I am too young, naive, stupid," he said. "I am their king, and they treat me as if I am ten."
"Ben," Adam said as he walked up to his son. "If you don't like something with the council. Change it," he said as he raised an eyebrow.
His dad was right. All Ben needed to do was put his foot down. He wasn't going to have HIS council members taking advantage of his kindness. There was a knock at the door, making everyone turn to the door.
"Benji?" Chip called as he poked his head through the door.
Chip froze when he saw everyone in Ben's office. He opened the door, straightened his posture, and cleared his throat.
"Your maj…"
"Shut up, Chip," Ben said, making everyone laugh. "You know you don't have to use my title," he said.
"I'm just doing my job," Chip said, holding his hands up.
"You don't work here," everyone said, making Chip laugh.
"Um… excuse me," Chip said as he walked over to Ben and wrapped an arm over his shoulder. "Who do you think makes Benji take breaks from his work when he is locked in here for three days? That is a job in itself," he said. "Plus, I came up here to tell him that if he wants to get everyone seated before his guests arrive, he should head down now so people aren't waiting," he said, making Ben nod his head.
He took a deep breath and started to walk out of the room, but someone grabbed his hand. He turned to see his mom looking up at him.
"Remember," she said. "It's your council and you are in charge," she said before she straightened his tie.
Ben gave her a smile before walking out of his office, with his friends and family following him. Once everyone was greeted, Ben let out the breath he didn't realize he was holding in.
"Go in, Benji," Chip said, making Benturn to him. "I'll wait and escort them when they get here, and then I'll take their bags up to their rooms," he said.
Ben shook his head. "No, I should…"
"Ben," Chad said. "Chip is tight. We should head in, because you know how those old farts are," he said as he laced his fingers through Audrey's.
"Okay, but text me when they get here so I can ease their introduction," he said.
"You got it, bro," Chip said as he saluted Ben.
Ben laughed as he held his arm out for Jane. "Let's go, Janey. I'll walk you to your mom," he said as she looped her arm through his.
They walked through the hallway and down a hall toward the council room. After Ben got the letter saying that they would come he had a new, longer table with added chairs, into the council room, and had their rooms next to his cleaned and prepped for them. He had asked if they would like separate rooms or if they would prefer to share, but she wrote saying it didn't matter. There were three girls coming and four boys, but there was a couple coming with them, and they would probably prefer to share.
Ben stopped at the closed double door and took a deep breath.
"Breathe, Ben," Jane said as she put a hand on his arm. "Everything is going to be fine."
Ben smiled down at his friend/sister, and nodded. He pushed the door open with his free hand and saw as everyone stood for his entrance. We walked Jane to sit with her mother, while Chad walked Audrey to her seat next to her parents and grandparents before taking his seat next to his parents and grandfather, and Doug walked Lonnie to her parents and their advisor before he walked to his seat next to his aunt, Snow White, because he was her heir. After pushing in Jane's seat, Ben walked to his chair at the head of the table. He sat next to his parents and took a deep breath as he looked at the council. He shook his head and thought that there were too many damn people in here, and he was going to be adding seven more.
"You look distraught, your majesty," Queen Lean said. "Is something wrong?" she asked.
Ben shook his head. He knew what Leah was doing, because she had been doing it for the past eleven years. She was trying to butter him up to get on his good side, so that he and Audrey would be together, even though Audrey and Chad have been in a relationship since they were seventeen.
"Grammy," Audrey said as she threw her head back. "Can you please, for the love that is all magical, please stop kissing Ben's ass," she said, making everyone who is not a grandparent laugh. "Ben and I did not work out. Get over it. I am with Chad, who I love dearly," she said as she gestured to her boyfriend. "So, stop trying. It is not going to happen," she said firmly.
Ben felt a vibration in his pocket, making his turn away from the shouting match that was beginning between Audrey and her grandmother.
Chip to Ben: They're here… and I know I am a HUGE flirt… but… DAMN… these girls are drop dead gorgeous! And the guys aren't so bad themselves… but I dropped to my knees when the first girl stepped out… you'll see what I mean, but she is LITERALLY the HOTTEST girl I have ever seen.
Ben shook his head and laughed. He knew Chip was a flirt, but he had never been this insistent about a girl being this attractive. He slipped his phone in his pocket and stood from his seat.
"Okay!" he shouted, making both Audrey and Leah look at him. "That is enough," he stated firmly, shocking the council members because they have never heard him use this tone before. "Queen Leah, stop trying to push me and Audrey together, because we are just friends. Now if you would all please have a seat I would like to make an announcement before we start the meeting."
"And what is that, your majesty?" Chi-Fu asked as he peered around Li Shang.
Ben placed his hand down on the table and took a breath.
"I have had this vision," he started out as he looked up from the table. "A vision of what I want MY country to be," he said, but then he heard loud laughter coming from behind the double doors.
"What is that?" the Duke of Weselton asked.
"That," Ben said as he pointed to the door. "Is forgiveness and new beginnings," he said.
The door opened and a tall dark haired man walked in. He was dressed in leather, but formal clothes, a hook hanging off his belt, and crystal blue eyes. The lady on his arm was dark skinned, teal hair, and she was wearing a teal pantsuit, with a pair of gold flats, and a shell necklace around her neck. The next guy to walk in had shoulder length blonde hair. He was wearing a pair of brown leather pants, a white button up shirt, and a pair of metal bull horns around his neck. The next two were both guys one was tall with long black hair, burgundy leather pants, a fitted mustard yellow shirt, and he was wearing gloves with snakes on them. The guy next to him was shorter, had white hair with black roots, a pair of pack jeans, a red dress shirt, and a cuff on his wrist with an 'X' on it but it was made of bones. The last two girls walked in and Chip was right. They were drop dead gorgeous. Ben had to put more pressure on his hand so that he didn't fall, that's how beautiful they are. Chip grabbed the handle behind them and locked onto Ben's eyes. He widened his eyes and nudged his head toward the girls before he bit his knuckle and rolled his eyes. The last two girls were strikingly beautiful. One had blue hair, brown eyes, full red lips, she was wearing a sheer red top with ruffles, a blue business skirt, matching red heels, and had an apple broach pinned to the neck of her shirt. The last girl, Ben thought, was the most beautiful girl in existence. She had big, long, shiny, and curled purple hair. Her lips were plump and pink, she had rosey cheeks, and beautiful emerald green eyes. She was wearing a purple business jumpsuit, a matching coat over it, black wedges, and had a metal purple dragon around her neck.
"You know," the girl with the purple hair said, making Ben break out of his trance and gave her his attention. "That guy is a HUGE flirt," she said amusingly, and made Ben's parents and friends laugh.
"And who are you, and who let you in here?" King Stephan asked as he stood from his seat.
The purple haired girl turned to look at Ben. "I'm sorry. Did you not tell them?" she asked.
Ben looked at her and just the sound of her voice made his legs almost turn to jello. He managed to shake his head, making her mouth 'oh' and nod her head awkwardly.
"Like I was saying," Ben said as he turned back to the council. "I have my vision for my country, and I am finally going to make those visions come true," he said as he gestured his hand to the seven new guests. "I have invited seven resident from the Isle of the Lost here, because the Isle will now and always have a representative on the council," he said, making all of the elder council members stand up and start to shout.
The shouting lasted for about two minutes before Ben slammed his hand on the table, making everyone jump.
"This is MY council," he said in a dark tone. "No one tells me what I can or can't do with MY council," he said before he stood up straight, and fixed his coat. "Now, will you all sit down so our new members can introduce themselves," he said as he took a seat.
The girl with purple hair chuckled. "I like him," she said as she pointed to Ben, making him blush. "Anyway, Uma, daughter of Ursula and Faciler, and Harry, son of Captain Hook " she said as she gestured to the guy and girl who walked in arm in arm. "Then Gil, son of Gaston," she said as Gil waved his hand. "Carlos, son of Cruella and Jay, son of Jafar," she said and they nodded with smiles on their faces. "And finally there is Evie, daughter of Grimhilde, and me. I'm Mal, daughter of Maleficent and Hades," she said.
Everyone of the elders' eyes shot out of their head. They had never wanted to encounter their villains again let alone their children. Queen Aurora stood from her seat and walked towards Mal.
"You look just like her," Aurora said as she placed her hand on Mal's cheek. "You are so beautiful," she said with a kind smile.
"Hello, Beastie," Mal said as she smiled at Aurora.
"No!" Leah screamed as she stood from her seat and rushed to ward Aurora, putting herself between the two. "Stay the hell away from my daughter!"
"Mother, stop!" Aurora snapped back, making Leah turn to her.
"No. I. Will. Not," Leah said. "Not after what this thing's mother did to our family," she said.
"What about what your husband did to my mother?" Mal asked, making Leah turn to her.
"I beg your pardon?" she asked. "What the hell are you talking about?"
"So… you don't know what KING Stephan did to get his crown?" she asked.
"He defeated the monster of the Moors and brought its wings to my father," she said as she stuck her nose up at Mal.
Mal huffed a laugh and untied the belt around her coat. She shrugged off her jacket and handed it to Evie, only leaving her in her halter top jumpsuit.
"You mean like these?" she asked before a set of lilac wings appeared behind her.
Everyone gasped as Stephan grew angry.
"They look just like…"
"The wings that Stephan brough your father?" Mal asked. "Though the only difference is that mine are purple?" she asked.
Leah nodded her head slowly, understanding now that the monster was her mother.
"Your husband," she said as she glared at Stephan who was glaring back. "Was in love with my mother. And he betrayed her, because he wanted to be king," she said as she took a step around Leah and Aurora and toward Stephan. "You remember your father's decree, stating that whoever defeated the monster of the Moors, they would take his place as king and have your hand," she said, not taking her eyes off of Stephan. "You fooled her. You made her think you chose her. And when she fell asleep, you cut her wings off with iron," she said as she took her final steps toward him. "So, please tell me who the real villain is in your tale."
No one said anything. They didn't know what to believe. Ben stood there looking at Mal, and he was impressed.
"Stephan," Leah said. "Is this true?" she asked.
"Yes, mother," Aurora said. "It is true."
Leah gaped at her daughter and her husband. She didn't want to believe that any of it was true. She had been distraught the sixteen years that she just stayed in her room. All she wanted was her daughter. She never imagined that her husband would be the villain.
"Tell the truth, father," Aurora said.
All eyes were on Stephan as he glared at the young woman in front of him.
"TELL THE TRUTH!" Aurora yelled.
"I did what I had to do!" he yelled, shocking everyone in the room. "I did what I did, and I don't regret anything, because it gave me you!"
"King Stephan," Ben called, making Stephan break his glare and turn to look at him. "I think it is best that I ask you to leave," he said.
"I am an elder of this council," Stephan said. "You cannot kick me out," he said, making Ben glare at Stephan himself.
"I am the KING!" Ben shouted as he walked around the table and toward stephan. "You do not get to tell me what goes on in my council or what goes on in my country," he said.
Mal had to admit. She never expected him to act this way. From how the letters were written, she never assumed he was kind of a push over. But, she found it kind of hot to see a prissy Aruadon boy get mad.
"You know what?" Ben said as his face softened. "I said it's time for new beginnings. Which means it's time for changes, and I am starting with this council," he said as he turned to walk back to his seat.
"What do you mean, your majesty?" Chi-Fu asked.
"What I mean," Ben said as he turned back to the table. "That there are too many people in here," he said. "So, all elders who have heirs that have their own heirs are no longer needed in this council. Nor ambassadors or linkage to kingdoms."
"What?!" Half the council yelled.
"So, moving forward. Elder King Stephan, Elder Queen Leah, Elder King Charming, ambassador Chi-Fu, Duke of Weselton, Elder Queen Elsa, Elder Sultan of Agraba, ambassador Phoebus, ambassador Esmerelda, ambassador John Smith, and Chief Powhatan. You are relieved of your council duties and they will be taken care of by the rulers of your kingdom," Ben said.
"Oh, thank god," Elsa said as she stood up and waved to her sister. "See you at game night," she said with a wink before walking out of the council room.
Queen Ana looked at where her sister was and gaped. "Is it too late to say to be queen?" she asked, making Kristoff laugh.
"You can't do this, Ben," Stephan said as he glared at Ben. "I will not allow it," he shouted.
"I am the king!" Ben shouted back. "You do not demand me! Now get the hell out of my council room," he stated with a glare as he pointed to the door.
Most of the council members left without a word, while others gaped at him. They have never heard Ben be so authoritative.
Stephan broke his glare from Ben and walked toward Leah, grabbing her hand.
"Don't touch me!" Leah shouted as she pulled her hand away from Stephan and walked out of the council room.
Once the doors closed and everyone else was gone, Ben let out a breath.
"And for the rest of the 'older council'," he said, putting air quotes around older council. "You are going to be a part of this council until your heirs take the throne. You will show them how things run here and how to approach concerns about your kingdom," he said. "And when they take their throne, they will come on their own to the council meetings, unless you need to step in in case of emergency. Do I make myself clear?" he asked.
The remaining council members nodded their heads, but didn't say a word. Belle and Adam were very impressed with how Ben handled the situation. They knew he was sweet as sugar, but seeing him be assertive and standing his ground, made them proud of the king he turned out to be.
"Great," he said. "Now if everyone will please move down the table and if the Isle representatives would sit with the families of their tale," he suggested. "I don't want there to be any separation or animosity between any of us," he said.
"Um…" Carlos said as he raised his hand. "Anita and Roger are not here," he said.
"You can sit over here," Chad said as he pointed to the seat next to him.
"Okay," Carlos said with a shrug before he walked over to sit by Chad and his family.
Uma sat next to Ariel, who smiled at her. Harry sat next to Peter Pan, who clasped him on the shoulder giving him a huge smile. Gil sat next to Belle. Gil tapped her on the shoulder, making her turn to him and he gave her a hug, and he shook Adam's hand. Jay sat next to Jasmine, who pinched Jay's cheek, making him blush and chuckle. Evie sat in between Doug and Snow White, who pulled Evie into a hug, shocking the blue haired girl. Mal stood where she was not sure if she should go sit next to her uncle or sit with Aurora, but the choice was taken from her. Aurora looped her arm through Mal's and walked her to the seat next to her, and that was next to Ben. She sat in the seat, and when she locked eyes with Ben she gave him a tight smile, which he returned with his own soft one.
Ben turned his attention to the group in front of him and cleared his throat.
"I have one question before I start the meeting," he said. "Who have I been in constant contact with for the past nine years?" he asked.
Mal raised her hand slightly, making Ben look back at her.
"That would be me," she said, giving him a more flirtatious smile.
He gave her a bigger smile, happy he was right in knowing that he was writing to a girl.
"Good to know," he said as his cheeks heated up.
Mal smiled, scrunched her nose and winked at him, making him huff a laugh.
