Chapter 2: White
Miku was becoming restless.
The pills she was given might have caused the nightmares to happen, which worried MEIKO.
MEIKO spoke with the doctor about the pills, but the doctor informed her that she had given her simple pain relievers for headaches, which shouldn't have caused any other reaction. The doctor was thorough when they were running tests on Miku for any allergies.
With no other choice in mind, she continued to use the pills. MEIKO felt they weren't working on Miku.
Miku would try to sleep, but she feared seeing what she saw. That figure that looked like her, covered in darkness, and her eyes was like seeing hell itself, melting your soul from just the look of them.
She stood up the past few nights. She was too afraid to be outside her room, and as she looked anywhere, she would see shadows in the corner of her eye. And Miku would forcibly keep her eyelids from falling at night.
She covered her eyes with a scarf, but anytime she couldn't see she felt it nearby.
When the morning came, as the sun glossed over her window above the bed, and as she heard birds chirping on the roof above, and their claws would patter on the windowsills as they flew by; Miku was relaxed to know that the morning had come, but she was exhausted and needed to shut her eyes.
What also kept her up was that odd moment with MEIKO. That faint memory within that split second when they pinkie swore.
She remembered her skin. It was white with no flaws. From the touch of her. It was cold and it would bring chills that would swell up in her fingers with just the thought of them. Her sharpened fingernails, almost a half inch from the tip of her fingers. That was all she could remember. Not a face, or even what she might be like.
Who was she? Miku kept asking herself.
Neru woke up, seeing the peeking sun light up her room, as the light was shining through her curtains. Just as she sat up, she saw her clock with just a few minutes before the alarm would go off. She didn't want to get up, so she tried to lay back down to cherish the last few minutes.
She had to get ready for her job at the local convenience store across town. It wasn't a tough job, but it wasn't easy dealing with people and having to stand at a register for nearly nine hours a day. It was even worse when it came to her manager who was always getting on her nerves. It was often the case with most common work environments she had been through in the past.
Neru would often contemplate her life. Living under the same roof as celebrities might be a dream for some, but after she saw how needy, selfish, and lazy these artists are, she would have thought otherwise before making that decision.
Just as her mind wouldn't relax with those thoughts, the alarm went off.
Neru would force herself to get up early enough to use the shower before MEIKO or Luka decide to use it. From living there for the past few months, they would take the longest out of the whole Complex, they'll be lucky to even have running hot water at that point.
This was one of the reasons Neru would get up early in the morning.
MEIKO woke up with her head feeling so heavy. She looked down to see a couple of alcoholic beverages lying beside her desk. Her stomach felt worse having to soak up all the fermented rice in her system. Her breath tasted terrible, like eating raw squid as the ink sack gushed between her teeth.
She got up, and it appeared Neru was already using the restroom. So, she went into the kitchen. She got herself a glass of water, to rinse down the disgusting taste in her mouth.
MEIKO was out last night. After speaking to the doctor and having to take care of Miku and Neru simultaneously for the past couple of days, drove her to sneak out and drink. As exhausted as she was, she needed time to relieve herself from the burden of having to take care of everyone.
"Why me?" She would often ask herself, sitting alone at the bar. "I used to be the star of the century, now replaced by a child?" As she would drink her feelings down to a few glasses, that eventually turned into the whole bottle. Multiple by the end of the night.
She would often sneak out to one of the local bars to have a few drinks, but there were times she would wash up on the sidewalk, unsure of what happened the night before. She wouldn't even think about any of the patrons that might have used her, but it was not at all what she had already been through in the past.
She did, however, miss her one drinking buddy. Who was also a common patron at the bar. She would call her "the lady in white."
A lot of the patrons didn't like her, because she would often speak about her problems, which annoyed the hell out of people.
But she was quite beautiful. She was like a life-size porcelain doll. Her skin was bright white and glowed in the dark. Her hair was an icy platinum that draped down to her knees. And she had eyes like a burning passion. She was really thin, but busty, and a full hourglass shape.
They would often drink together, and they would talk, but neither of them knew each other, nor remember their own names and even the conversations they had by the end of the night. Just the image of her was memorable, because she was like no one else in the world. She would then disappear once the sun arose, as if she was a ghost.
MEIKO would often contemplate if she was even real?
After MEIKO drank the water, Neru walked through the kitchen doors. Neru was dressed into her work clothes, her hair tied to one side, and sat down to tie her shoes.
She looked up to see MEIKO hungover. Again.
"Did you go out last night?" Neru asked.
"Unfortunately." MEIKO said.
Neru quietly nodded.
"I don't think it's fair, when you go out whenever you want." Neru taunted.
"Neru, don't even start." MEIKO responded. "You already know why."
"I know. I'm just saying..."
"Then keep it to yourself." MEIKO demanded.
Neru kept quiet, feeling annoyed by her.
"I'll be out for work today. But I'll be back late." Neru said.
"Why?" MEIKO asked.
"Do you want a curfew as well?" Neru argued sarcastically.
"It would be nice to at least know when?" MEIKO said, matching Neru's tone.
"I want to visit someone after work." Neru said. "Okay?"
"Fine. But call me when you're on your way." MEIKO said, as she walked out the door of the kitchen.
Neru gave her disgusted look, as she disliked being treated like a child.
Kagamine walked into the kitchen, which made Neru sit up straight in the chair as she saw them walking in. Since they were quite short. She would get flustered seeing their cute youthful face. They had bright blonde hair, and glorious oceanic eyes.
They were fourteen years old when they were first introduced into the industry, being one of the youngest. They were able to sing as if they were from a young girl or a young boy. Their voices were astounding to the industry which decided to place them under Crypton.
"Hey Neru." Kagamine said, as they were wiping their eyes and yawning.
"Hi." Neru said, with a little more of a comforting tone.
"What are we making today?" Kagamine asked, as they sat down at the table.
"What do you feel like?" Neru asked.
Kagamine thought about it for a minute.
"Omelets!" Kagamine said.
"Okay!" Neru said, as she felt eager to cook for them.
This was another reason Neru would get up early in the morning.
Back when she first moved into the Complex, Neru did not know how to cook. That was until she learned from her previous occupation of being a cook and waitress at SeeU's cafe.
SeeU, the founder of SeeU's cafe, being one of the top cooks in Yoshida. Her skills alone would have made her a world class chef, but she only dreamt of owning a family diner. She didn't even want to make it a franchise. She wanted to be the one and only restaurant people would go to for excellent food.
Her culinary skills have only been seen by a few, and whoever was hired to work for her had to be whipped into shape to meet her standards to even begin working. Neru got in and somehow managed to become a cook but was later fired due to one misplaced fruit bowl.
However, the skills she acquired went into feeding everyone at the Complex because neither of them knew how to cook as well. Or even clean in that matter, as she would put it.
It was worth it to see Kagamine smile with joy as they would bite into the food that was prepared.
"This is so delicious!" Kagamine said. "Thank you!"
"You're welcome!" Neru said, as she smiled and blushed.
Kagamine noticed Neru being dressed up for something.
"Do you have work today?" Kagamine asked quietly, with food in their mouth.
"Yeah, I... I have to work today..." Neru said softly.
"Oh?" Kagamine said.
"Yeah." Neru said. "And I'm afraid I won't be home until late."
"That's okay Neru, this should be okay for today!" Kagamine said, with a smile.
Neru smiled and was enjoying watching Kagamine eat.
Luka came through the kitchen doors.
Luka was a fully grown woman and was the last to be introduced in the Crypton branch.
She got in for her soft yet dark tone of voice that would be useful for more adult-oriented content.
She had a bigger bust and a nicer ass than MEIKO, Neru would admit. Her long hair was like a stream of pink lemonade running down her body. Glorious sapphire eyes which her fingernails and toenails painted to match the color.
She was also a bit of a bitch, Neru would say. Because of her attitude, like she was some sort of goddess, and would openly confess that the industry was lucky to have her.
"Hey Luka!" Kagamine said.
"Hi." Luka said softly.
Neru's smile went away as she saw Luka pass by her.
"Would you like some breakfast?" Kagamine asked, as they pointed at the omelets on the plate.
"No thank you." Luka said, as she was using the coffee maker. It was probably the only thing she was able to figure out how to use, Neru thought. "I'm just going to have coffee for now."
Neru and Luka never got along, they would often fight silently with their eyes. Luka didn't think she belonged there with them, and Neru would agree, but she couldn't do anything about that. That's what made her feel hopeless, and Luka would play into that feeling. She knew Neru had no other choice.
"Neru, do you mind getting me one of these while you're out?" Luka said, as she handed her a ripped piece of paper.
"Sure." Neru said plainly, as she looked at the note.
"Thank you." Luka said, as she walked out with a cup of coffee in her hands.
Kagamine was curious, as they tried to look at the note. Neru noticed, as they immediately looked away.
"Do you want anything?" Neru asked softly.
"No, I think I'm fine." Kagamine said.
"Okay." Neru said, smiling again.
She remembered when she first got Kagamine, something outside of the Complex. Not being allowed outside the Complex or the studios, they never had the chance to taste a single soda pop. Neru was shocked, as it was the most common consumable product anyone has at any local convenience store, and Kagamine never drank one.
Crypton does supply them with food, but never anything processed, so Neru got the idea of gifting Kagamine one of her favorite sodas to drink. Seeing Kagamine's face lit up at the scent and taste of it. It was one of the rare happy moments of her life in the Complex. Kagamine was so excited and danced with the flavors of it.
However, after doing that, the others started asking around for things. Neru basically had a grocery list of extra stuff they wanted, coming out of her own paycheck. It was devastating, but they respected her more after that.
I suppose it pays to have such freedom. Neru thought.
MEIKO went to check on Miku after getting ready. Miku was sitting up, and she was fidgety.
"Miku, are you okay?" MEIKO asked.
"I don't know..." Miku said softly.
"Are you able to do your recordings today?" MEIKO asked.
"I don't think I can." Miku asked. "Not today."
"Why?" MEIKO said, slightly toned. "Did you not sleep at all last night?"
"I couldn't..." Miku said.
MEIKO sighed.
"Alright then, stay here." MEIKO requested.
"Okay." Miku said. "I'm sorry, Meiko..."
"It's alright, but they're not going to be happy about this." MEIKO announced.
Neru walked into Miku's room.
"Hey, I'm on my way to work!" Neru said, as she glanced inside. Miku looked like she was startled to see her.
"Alright then, let me know..."
"I know, I know. I'll call!" Neru interrupted MEIKO.
MEIKO was not too thrilled to be cut off.
"Where is she going?" Miku asked.
"To work? Why?" MEIKO said.
"Does that mean I'm going to be left alone?" Miku asked.
"Yeah." MEIKO said.
"Oh..." Miku said, as she got up from the bed.
"Miku?" MEIKO questioned.
"Kaito, want anything from the store?" Neru asked, as she knocked on the door, across from Miku's bedroom.
"No, I'm good." Kaito replied, behind the door.
Neru walked to the front door, as Miku came walking in front of her.
"Neru, wait." Miku said.
"What?" Neru asked.
"Can you... can you stay?" Miku asked.
"No, why?" Neru asked.
"Please don't go." Miku said.
"I've got a job to do." Neru said, as she opened the door.
Miku came and rushed to push the door closed.
"What the hell, Miku!?" Neru yelled.
"Please don't go!" Miku said, as she was struggling to keep the door closed.
Neru was trying to get the door open, as Miku leaned against it.
"Miku!" MEIKO yelled, walking out of Miku's bedroom. "Let her go!"
Miku looked into Neru's eyes, and Neru saw that she was upset. Her eyes were watery and looked tired. Miku stepped away and allowed Neru to open the door.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Neru asked, but it was a rhetorical question, as she walked out and shut the door behind her.
Miku looked away.
"What was that all about?" MEIKO asked.
Miku turned away and ran past MEIKO to her room and shut the door again. MEIKO sighed and shook her head.
Afterwards, she made sure everyone else got dressed and was ready to leave.
Neru was outside the facility, and as MEIKO predicted there was security out on patrol. Which made things much more difficult to maneuver through the gates.
Neru finally made it out alive and was walking casually down the street.
The convenience store was a few blocks away from the Complex, so it was not too far from where she needed to go.
Aside from Neru living in the Complex, no one really knows anything about her, and she would like to keep it that way. From walking to and from work, she would often come across some guys who would ask her out, but Neru didn't take the conversation any longer than it had too. It was the same when she was working, but her manager would help out when those situations would arise. It was one of the idiosyncrasies her manager would have when it came to being a good employee. She was stalked once, but after walking down a few streets and getting by into the facility, they gave up trying to look for her.
Neru was stealthy, because she had to be.
She made it to work and was greeted by her manager with a hug.
Miki, her manager, who was apparently just as clingy as Miku was, and twice as annoying.
"Miki, stop!" Neru demanded.
"What?!" Miki questioned. "Can I not offer a hug to my favorite retail clerk?"
"First off." Neru said, as she struggled to get loose. "You didn't offer to hug me! And secondly." As Neru got loose. "Stop touching me!" Neru said.
"Fine! Killjoy!" Miki shouted, as she crossed her arms and pouted.
When Miki was fired up, she would be almost incapable to work with.
Nine hours of this... Neru thought, as she stood behind the counter.
Miki usually kept to herself, and only every now and then when Neru had to inspect any items or restock the shelves, they would run into each other.
Miku was left alone in the Complex. There was nothing but utter silence. Those thoughts since last night kept surfacing in her mind. Especially the name Haku. Miku kept thinking of Haku.
Haku had to have been a woman, although some men have that same name as well, and might also have some feminine traits such as the one she envisioned. But how does she know?
The silence and her mind slowly descending into madness over a glimpse of something vague in her memory, it was awakening some shadow to form from what she could cough up. A figure that was pale, with eyes like fire, with nails that were like razors. A creature she didn't want to envision but had crossed her mind since last night's dream.
Why has this manifestation become something evil instead of something good? Maybe the person she met wasn't good, maybe it was hidden for a reason? Miku thought.
Miku decided to look through photos and even search the web for anybody under that description. The name Haku. Family name, Yowane. There was no record of her anywhere, almost as if that name doesn't exist.
Maybe I am going mad, Miku thought to herself.
If her name wasn't real, then Neru was probably lying to her about it, just for her to get off her back.
"Damn you Neru!" Miku said. "After I was just beginning to think..."
Miku stopped herself from finishing that sentence.
Miku started to feel a bit better about the situation. Although, it would never explain the visions she had of someone? Miku felt confused and wanted to get her mind off of it by watching TV in the living room.
Miku watched some ads playing on screen, some of them from products she had to sponsor. Seeing herself feeling animated, and having her voice singing some catchy slogans made her feel like herself again.
MEIKO came back to the Complex to check on Miku once again.
"Miku?" MEIKO said, as she was surprised to see Miku watching TV. "You're alright?"
"Yeah. I think I was just feeling a little under the weather, but I think I'm ready to head to the studio!" Miku said.
"Really?" MEIKO asked, with an enlightened tone. "That's good to hear! I think they'll be happy to see you've returned."
"Great!" Miku said, with a smile.
Neru was exhausted, just an hour before her shift ended. She yawned at the thought of finally getting some rest.
A familiar face made her way through the store.
"Hi, Neru..." A soft spoken woman said.
Neru looked up to see her scarlet eyes, the bright white hair, and pale skinned face.
"Haku!" Neru said, with a surprise tone in her voice. "What are you up to?"
"I came to gather a few things for the house." Haku said. "How about you, almost done with work?"
"Yeah, just an hour to go." Neru said, as she exhaled through her nostrils. "Although, I might be able to get off early if I convince Miki."
"Oh, haha." Haku said, as she chuckled.
Neru smiled.
"You want to meet up after work?" Neru asked.
"Sure." Haku said. "You're always welcome."
After Haku gathered a few things like she said and headed out the door.
"She's pretty!" Miki said, standing behind Neru.
Neru looked behind her to see Miki. It made her snap back into focus since she wasn't there before Haku showed up.
"You like her?" Miki teased, in a seductive tone.
"Again, none of your business!" Neru said.
Neru thought about what she said and she forgot she was talking to the wrong person. "Uh... sorry..." Neru said, regretting the way she spoke to her.
"Be careful Neru, I was going to let you out early. But as your superior, I could make you stay and clean the bathrooms!" Miki taunted, with a smug face, waving her hips from side to side.
"No... I'm sorry... Please..." Neru begged.
Miki grinned.
"Oh, I could never stay mad at you!" Miki said, as she was coming in for a hug, but Neru dodged her arms, and stood as far away as she could behind the counter. "Nice reflexes Neru!"
"I told you to stop touching me!" Neru yelled.
"Okay, okay!" Miki said, with a smile.
Miku and the others returned home from the studio. She felt better being with everyone and returned to singing once again.
MEIKO was actually relieved to have Miku back with them making sure she does what she's told like always. She checked her phone, but there was nothing from Neru yet. She watched Miku and Kagamine talking again, as it made her feel better about the situation.
Luka was a bit ticked off that she didn't get the things she wanted when she got there. But, like everyone else she was exhausted and decided to lay down in her bedroom to wait.
Kaito also immediately went back to his room.
MEIKO watched him walk away in silence like always.
She felt bad for Kaito. He wasn't a bad guy like he claims himself to be, she believed. As much as MEIKO helped him throughout the years he hasn't changed how he feels about himself.
Kaito was average height. He was skinny with some muscle tone. He had navy blue eyes, hidden behind his curly locks that matched the night blue sky. It was somehow fitting.
Ever since they barely got into Crypton he became rather quiet, always kept to himself.
Whenever they did talk about things, he would always say he felt unwanted. The industry wanted to disband his products after his first appearance, since he barely made any sales. The main people behind the industry didn't want anything to do with him after that fact, with no favor for his voice in many of the songs, and barely making any appearances in any of the music videos he helped produce himself.
MEIKO was the one who fought to keep him there. She begged that he could, at the very least, help coach the younger singers. Because he was well-trained and highly skilled like no other. They allowed Kaito to move from Zero-G to Crypton like MEIKO.
She was unsure if he was actually grateful to be there. She might have burdened him more, but she knew she couldn't run the place herself, which she inevitably did. That was until Neru arrived at their doorstep.
Neru was finally off work, just a little under half an hour before her actual shift ends. Miki was feeling generous and allowed her to leave just before the time.
Neru quickly bought the things Luka wanted, but she thought of everyone else as well. Since they haven't asked for anything in a long time, she thought to surprise them with something. It might even cheer Miku up with whatever's going on inside her head.
Neru headed off to Haku's house.
Haku explained that her house was inherited by her family. However, Haku hasn't even got to know her own family since she owned it. It was kept in great shape, like it was barely touched by anyone.
The house was a couple of blocks away from town. It was almost near the small woods and down by the dirt roads to St. Alistar.
St. Alistar was a small rural town nearby with a much smaller population density. It was also the town Neru grew up from, with a family she had left behind.
The house itself had two stories and a basement. It had a great yard, but it had nothing but dry weeds that die off like it would during the winter and summer seasons. The outside looked plain white, with dark wood surrounding the ridges of the outline of each block. It was surrounded by a white gate, about a few feet above ground. There was a walkway to the front door, a large patio in the front, where a swinging chair sat on the edge of the left side, and a few tables and chairs sitting on the right. In the back of the tables was a large window, opening to the sight of the living room, if the curtains were opened. Above, there was a window where the attic would be, and a couple of windows below the stairs from the basement. In the back, was a small shed and a garage. It was all filled with meaningless memories of a family that Haku never knew.
As Neru would get closer she would remember it was always freezing. No matter how much she would bundle up, there was a shivering feeling that would sink deeply into her skin. It felt like it would shatter like glass just to step through the gates. The air was dense, and it felt hard to breathe. The relief she would feel after she would step out of the house. Because stepping inside was like stepping into another world, only to step inside the ghost dimension.
People around the area had spread rumors of a paranormal phenomena of what they call, the White Lady, who lived inside the house. It was believed that a sorrowful woman haunted the premises, as she was too attached to leave the house due to her family's death. No one was brave enough to walk in to see the inside. Even teenagers were too frightened to go there, because they would feel the bone-chilling air almost immediately. It felt like they were being cursed to be in the presence. They would have photographs of Haku staring out of the windows, believing they have photographic evidence of the White Lady, which became an internet sensation, for about a month.
After that people moved on from this stricken fantasy.
Neru walked up, and knocked on the door. The door slowly opened to greet her.
"Hello Neru." Haku said, as she held the door.
"Hi Haku, may I come in?" Neru asked.
"Of course!" Haku said, as she stood back, and allowed Neru to walk in.
Haku locked the door, and sat down with Neru on the couch.
"It's so nice to have you over once again." Haku said softly, as she sat down. "What's been going on?"
"Well, it's just the drama surrounding my life." Neru said.
"Oh, are you okay?" Haku asked.
"Yeah. It was just a lot of arguing and making everyone feel like they were in an awkward position. You know?" Neru replied.
"Yeah?" Haku responded.
"I rarely want to get into arguments, but when I do... it's always about doing everything for everyone, when it's not my job to take care of everybody. Why am I responsible? On top of that, I'm always treated like I'm a child, who has to have curfews and let them know where I am at all times. It's frustrating!"
"I do hope you at least got your point across..." Haku said, not sure how to respond adequately.
"I don't know, no one really listens to me. They don't care to listen to how I feel."
"I'm sorry to hear about that."
"But, that's why I enjoy being here. Because, we listen to each other. We can have a normal conversation about everything, and I just don't have that same feeling with them. I kind of feel like we were meant to meet each other when we did!"
"Yeah, I believe so as well."
Haku and Neru both shared a loving smile.
"Oh, have you talked to your landlord about moving?" Haku asked.
"I didn't get a chance to, it just so happened that I had to deal with something else, having to help someone else out." Neru replied.
"Oh, okay, I'm glad you were there to help them then." Haku said. "I still think it was pretty neat that you were able to afford the place you're at now, but if it's getting to be too much for you, you're always welcome here."
"Thanks Haku. It's honestly super difficult to manage. At this point, I would honestly feel better moving out!" Neru said, as they both smiled.
After talking about the recent events, Neru decided to jump into the next conversation. She wanted to know if Haku knew something about Miku. It bothered her that Miku was going through this once she mentioned Haku.
"There is something I wanted to ask you about?" Neru asked.
"Yeah? What is it?" Haku replied, feeling curious about Neru's question.
"You mentioned before that you wanted to be where I was, right? Why?" Neru asked.
"I thought I would have more potential of being somebody there." Haku said.
"Like what?"
"I... I was really passionate about music, and being close to the Crypton headquarters, I thought I would get in somehow."
"Really? Did you ever get a chance to?"
"No, not really."
"I see."
"Curious about my past?" Haku asked.
"I know, I'm sorry if it was too personal." Neru said.
"Oh no, if we are going to be together, then I should have no problem sharing anything with you."
"Okay. I only asked because I met someone who might know you."
"Hmm? Does anyone know who I am?"
"Yeah... her name is..." Neru was hesitant to say, she was unsure if she would have the same reaction.
"You don't remember who?" Haku asked. "That's alright if you can't recall."
"It's Miku..." Neru said quietly.
Neru looked at Haku.
She was slightly confused, but her expression changed almost instantly. She started to sob.
"H-Haku! Neru shouted. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."
"No, no... it's okay. Haku sniffled, choking up with tears from her eyes. "I just... haven't heard that name in a very long time..."
Neru was devastated to give her the name. She was starting to regret her actions like she did before.
"Haku?" Neru said, as tears began to swell up in her eyes.
There was something between them, Neru thought.
"So you've seen her?" Haku asked, clearing up her throat to speak, fighting against the tears.
"She... she was around... she wanted to know where I was..." Neru slowly replied.
"Is she around a lot?" Haku asked. "Are you friends?"
"No."
"Oh. How do you know her?" Haku said, her tone shifted to a more serious feeling.
"I..." Neru was starting to feel the tension rise up, becoming uncomfortable. "She lives nearby..."
"She lives nearby? And she mentioned me?!"
"No. She just asked about you..."
"Why?"
Neru wanted to be straight with Haku, she couldn't keep anything from her.
"She was curious about where I was, and I told her that I was with you."
"I see..." Haku said softly. "But, why would you mention me?"
"I'm sorry Haku. It was to kind of get her off my back. She kept asking and asking, and I didn't want to deal with her."
"But, isn't she a famous pop-star? How can you even turn away from her?"
"Because... I live with them..." Neru cried.
Haku got up, completely devastated by what Neru said. She began to piece together the conversations they had.
"You mean to tell me, you've been living under the same roof as Miku?! All the others as well?! And you didn't even bother to tell me about it?!" Haku yelled.
Neru looked away from her.
"I-I... I'm sorry..." Neru cried.
Words broken up in her throat. It was swallowing her regretful decision to bring Miku up in the first place.
"You know what..." Haku said. "I need to be alone."
"Haku?" Neru cried.
Haku went to the door and opened it.
"Haku?" Neru said again.
"Please." Haku demanded.
Neru got up and walked out the front door.
Neru looked back to say she was sorry again, but Haku slammed the door before she could say anything.
She slowly walked down the stairs and closed the white fence behind her.
She felt the cold driving through inside her.
"Damn it!" Neru cried.
With a lot of work Miku had to catch up on, she was waiting to jump into bed. She was impatient, after she had showered. She felt refreshed, and was ready to sleep. Before she could relax, she looked to the side of her to find her medicine sitting on the nightstand.
Miku awoke to an unfamiliar setting, but something about it made her feel something nostalgic.
The complication was making her question so many things, and it stressed her out entirely.
She got up to see a white room.
She was laying on the floor with piled up sake bottles, pouring out from underneath the bed. As if, someone was trying to hide their drinking habits.
She stood up, to an empty bed. Everything looked as if it was untouched, topped with dust and not a single thing moved from its place when she ran her fingers across a desk.
She saw the door ahead, and felt the need to go through it.
She gently opened the door.
It was a large living room. There were large cupboards to her far left from the door. In the middle, a fireplace that was not lit, nor had wood placed inside. To her right was nothing but a window. In front of her, was a couch beside a small desk, inches away from the front door. In the back of the couch was a large window, stainless and brightened from much of the clarity brought from the outside.
Outside she could see a few chairs and tables sitting up front on a porch, and just beyond was a white gate. The door was swinging back and forth with the wind. The atmosphere inside the house felt like it was outside. It was cold, dense, and in the distance, a white emptiness that surrounded and circulated the area. A mist that was too deep to see anywhere passed the gates.
Miku felt the chills seep into her skin, and she could see her breath as she exhaled. She crossed her arms, and rubbed her hands together to attain enough heat to beat the cold, but it was not enough to sustain.
Miku heard a glass shatter in the room she came out of. She wanted to see what it was.
The vibrations in her chest became rushed with fear, as she came closer to the door.
She placed her hand on the door knob. Miku took in a deep breath, and slowly opened the door again.
Miku walked in to see a woman, sitting on the bed.
She wanted to look to see who it was, but she accidentally stepped on a broken bottle on the floor. It looked as if it was thrown at the wall before hitting the ground.
Miku saw the blood pouring out her feet.
She looked back up to see that she was gone from the bed.
The door ahead of her was slightly open.
She walked, as the glass was gone, but the blood still appeared when she took a step. Walking around to see the traces of her footprint as she continued.
Miku looked in, and saw that the woman was not clothed. She was standing naked and facing away from the door. Her hair flowed down her body like a spring, her figure was that of a mature woman. Her skin was flawless as the person she envisioned would have.
She believed it was the one she was seeing.
She looked down at the woman's fingers, to see the sharp nails like razors.
She was not moving, or looked as if she was breathing, but was stiff like a statue.
Miku shut the door, but as soon as the door closed, she was greeted by a hand that burst through the door behind her.
It clawed at her face.
