Part 1
Chapter 1
It was a cold rainy afternoon when things began to go wrong. Haruhi and Tamaki had been living and studying in the United States for a few months, and things were not going as expected. Some things were great and others were not. One of the worst things for Haruhi was her host family. They were suffocating in her opinion. Haruhi was used to running a household and being independent and this family really never let her out of the house except for school and they hated Tamaki. They allowed him in the house but they disapproved of how affectionate he was and how he always seemed to be around. As strange as it may sound it brought Haruhi and Tamaki closer together. This ended up being one of their problems but that comes later.
One of the good things that happened was Tamaki though still Tamaki had matured a lot and acted much more responsibly. Although he technically had access to his fathers money he made the decision to get a part time job. Although he originally did this to impress Haruhi and show that he could be responsible he actually ended up really enjoying his part time job at a local pet store. This job was both a blessing and a curse.
"I wish we could just skip school just this once." Tamaki groaned leaning against his locker looking at Haruhi. Haruhi shut her locker and smiled. "Well you can but if I miss class without a doctors note I could get kicked out of the program." She did lean against him after she shut her locker and gave him a small peck on the cheek. "It's not like I won't see you later today right?" She raised her eyebrows as Tamaki stroked Haruhis now much longer hair. She looked more and more like a girl since moving here, now that she no longer had to pretend to be a host she had let her hair grow out a little bit at Tamakis request. It had grown out to about her shoulders and was cut into a cute little bob. Tamaki sighed. "Not unless you can sneak out and come to my work. I'm scheduled to help close the store tonight and then I'll still have homework." Haruhi looked a little disappointed but gave him a smile. "Well that's okay I have a lot of work to, maybe tomorrow then." "Yeah maybe tomorrow, now we both have to get to class." He ran his fingers through his perfect blonde hair smiling at her one last time before walking away a bunch of other girls squealing and mobbing him on his way to class. "Some things never change." Haruhi mumbled this to herself before heading in the opposite direction to her class.
"Haruhi come to down to dinner. Dinner is family time." Haurhi sighed putting down her pencil slightly annoyed. "Yes ." She scooted back annoyed with this dinner is family time nonsense that had been going on since she moved here. Didn't this woman realize she had schoolwork? Haruhi went into the dining room and the rest of the family was already sitting there. Clare Turner her foreign exchange mother, a perfect blonde bombshell who looked to be in her late twenties despite being forty five and having 3 kids, her foreign exchange father Greg Turner and quiet man with curly red hair a bald spot and bright green eyes. He was less stressed then Claire and would often smile watching her and Tamaki. He was the complete opposite of her real father who she missed very much. Then their were the kids. Two girls and a boy. The oldest was a year younger than Haruhi, a freshman who was a clone of her mother who was extremely jealous of plain Haruhi having a hunk like Tamaki on her arm. Mary was a cheerleader for goodness sake! She should have Tamaki all to herself. The younger to kids Mabel and Martin had their fathers curly red hair and were ten year old twins. Out of the entire family Haurhi probably enjoyed them the most. Her friends Hikaru and Karoru enjoyed them as well seeing a bit of their younger selves in the mischievous twins.
"About time we've all been waiting for you." Mary snapped at Haruhi as she sat down. "Now now Mary, I'm sure Haruhi was doing something very important, weren't you dear?" Claire Turner gave Haruhi a fake plastic looking smile and Haruhi nodded. "I was working on my English homework, I'm struggling to read the book I was assigned. Reading in English can be difficult at times." Haruhi was still a straight A student but it was harder than back home. She had more work back home but doing work in her native language was much easier and less time consuming then doing it in another language. "Well maybe Mary could help you by reading the material to you?" Claire smiled at her suggestion hoping that maybe it would help Haruhi bond with Mary since they didn't seem to get along. "Mom no way I have my own homework and she's supposedly some sort of freaky genius. If she can't read maybe she should go back to Japan." She smirked until her father glared at her. "Now Mary, Haruhi is our guest you were the one who wanted a foreign exchange student, you say anything more like that you will be grounded young lady." Mary scowled. "Sorry for being rude Haruhi." Haruhi just shrugged. "It's fine I don't need help." Everyone sat in awkward silence for the rest of the meal, Haruhi pushing the strange cuisine around on her plate not really enjoying the heavy American meals that were often prepared.
Back in her plain undecorated bedroom Haruhi texted Tamaki. "How's work?" She knew she should do her homework but Mary had made her unusually angry tonight and she couldn't focus. "It's been a slow night, we might close early." He replied putting a heart at the end. Haruhi sighed thinking about sneaking out, the pet store was only a few blocks away but thought better of it. "I have to try to finish this book tonight, luv u." She sent him a smiley emoji before sighing and laying on her bed. Tamaki was about it text "I love you more" when it happened.
"Everyone put your hands up now." A loud male voice shouted. Tamaki slowly put his hands up as two more masked men followed the first one in. "You blondie!" The first man shouted, putting a gun to Tamakis chest. "Open the registers and give us everything inside." The biggest of the three men pushed his pistol into Tamakis chest. Tamaki had his hands up, but was still holding his cellphone. The masked man noticed the cellphone and shouted. "Yo boss this kids gotta phone." The boss rolled his eyes in slight annoyance. "And you've got a gun, take care of it. Moron." Tamaki was lowering one hand to open the register as the man shot Tamaki for the first time going straight through his ribcage. Tamaki grabbed his chest gasping from te pain as the main shot twice more getting him once in the stomach and once in the leg. As he fell to the ground one word escaped his lips. "Haruhi."
