So, moving right along!
This chapter comes with a trigger warning for brief mentions of physical and verbal abuse.
I want to thank everyone who has left me reviews. They really do keep me going!
Before I get corrected about the timeline: In this chapter a Christmas is mentioned and it's not the famous one which involves the rangers saving Santa. After checking my Netflix account, I saw that there wasn't a christmas episode during Tommy's green ranger days, so that's what I chose to do here. I would also like to remind everyone that this series is AU. So expect the unexpected.
I guess that's it, so I hope everyone enjoys this chapter!
Pebble Brook Manor
The Living Room
The baby was finally asleep, and the girls were once again enjoying the peaceful room.
"Kim, can you tell us more about you and Tommy?" Asked Kira from her spot on the sofa she shared with Melanie. Today, the boys were in the garage working on their cars, so, the girls were left to their girl talk.
Kimberly chuckled and nodded. "You guys are really enjoying this love story stuff?"
"Yeah, this stuff is better than we could ever find on the Hallmark channel." Kira said with a grin.
"And what could you possibly want to hear about?"
"What was the most romantic thing he's ever done for you?" Melanie blurted out.
"Tommy is the sweetest man alive." Kim replied. "It's like he made it his mission to sweep me off my feet whenever he got the chance."
"Ok, well how about Christmas…what was your first Christmas together like? Melanie pressed.
"Well, we didn't have a lot of money at the time and I had been disowned by my mother. It was the off season for Tommy's uncle, but he was busy doing promotions for his sponsors. Mr. Hart, Kim's real father invited us to stay up at very cozy lodge in Montana."
"He knew about us being a couple and let us have our own room to stay in. It was just over a week and we spent some time just being a family."
Kim paused and smiled. "We didn't have a lot of money for renting stuff, but he managed to arrange a romantic date for anyway. He reserved a sleigh ride at dusk for us, complete with hot cocoa and a very fuzzy Christmas blanket. It lasted about twenty minutes and then when we got back, we had a romantic dinner in the lodge. Christmas music was being played in the background and there was a crackling fire in the middle of the room and a ginormous Christmas tree.
The food was amazing and as we were leaving the room, we got caught under the mistletoe and you guys know where that leads."
Kira grinned at her and so did Melanie.
"That kiss almost set the room on fire. I had to be the one to end the lip lock, and he couldn't wipe the smile off his face. We made it up to our room and that was the first night that we actually experimented with going beyond kissing. I won't go into that but that was how our first Christmas went as a couple. Once Christmas morning came, we gave each other gifts and then we met dad for breakfast."
"It was a simple no frills Christmas but it's such a precious memory for us."
The Garage
"Back so soon? Tommy asked as Connor walked back in. He'd gone back to the main house to use the bathroom and to check in on his wife. He'd caught the tail in of Kim's story and walked swiftly away.
"Yeah, the women are all having girl talk in the living room. As much as I love Kira, the estrogen in the room was a bit much for my system."
Tommy got up and carefully shut the hood on the old chevy. He wiped his hands on the shop towel and leaned against the hood. "So, which story was it this time?"
Connor chuckled. "Something about Christmas in a lodge…had something to do with a sleigh ride."
Tommy grinned. "Oh yes, that was our first Christmas as a couple. That sleigh ride was very…magical."
Ethan looked up at him. "Magical? I didn't think I'd ever hear those words out of you."
Their former teacher looked at them. "Maybe not, but when you're a love-sick teenager snuggling with your sweet and sexy girlfriend on a sleighride at Christmas…" Tommy paused grinning. "Yeah, that's magical."
Connor chuckled. "I don't think you ever stopped being a love-sick teenager."
Tommy chuckled and nodded. "We haven't been teenagers for a while, but everything else is still there." He paused and then looked at the old car again. He smiled softly to himself as he trailed his hand over the hood of the old car.
"So, what's the story with this old car."
Tommy looked up at Connor looking startled. He'd been caught up in memories and his nephew's voice had disrupted his revelry.
He sighed softly looking down at the car again; a moment later he looked up at them.
"I guess it's time to tell you our story. Before I tell you guys, I should warn you that these events were traumatic the first time around, more for Kim than for me. What we went through would be tough for any teenager, but more so for a Power Ranger. We had all these powers but couldn't use them for personal gain. I would have done such damage to that rat bastard…"
Tommy trailed off and then looked up at his former students and then looked Connor in the eyes.
"Do you remember when the whole thing with Roger started?" When Connor nodded, Tommy continued.
"There's a reason for what I told you…it's because my beautiful Crane went through something similar. The only difference is that we didn't have an incredibly handsome teacher to be the voice of reason. I don't remember much about my parents, all I had was my uncle growing up. Once I became a teenager I saw less and less of him. His career took off and most of the time he was at the tracks. So I was left to my own devices. On the plus side, I didn't have to worry about hiding my identity or have anyone questioning my sudden change in demeanor."
"Or having to explain the bruising after a battle?" Connor added.
Tommy nodded. "Yeah, that too."
"He kept the house paid up and regularly put money in our joint account, so I didn't go without anything. The most important thing he left me was this car. Before, it was just a way to get groceries and stuff. But when we moved to Angel Grove, it became an integral part of our story."
"We were already a couple when it happened; We'd just gone through a brutal battle. It was parent's day; Kim was a mess. Her mother, father and soon- to-be-step father had shown up…all at the same time. On top of having the parents and other adults kidnapped, they were forced to trade their coins for their parents only to get fu…screwed over. By the time it was all over, we were exhausted and just wanted to relax and enjoy the rest of the day with the parents."
"Except for Kimberly, that is. Things were about to go south with her parents. It's where things went bad for her and by extension, me."
Flashback
Tommy was back as the green ranger. He walked back into the youth center to see Kimberly and her mom standing around talking with two men he didn't know. He knew about the divorce, but he didn't recognize the other man. Maybe Ms. Hart had a new boyfriend. Kimberly seemed to be okay; she was beaming at him as she waved him over.
He'd already met Ms. Hart, but the men were another story.
"Dad, this is my boyfriend Tommy. We've been going out for a few months now."
Tommy never flinched while the older man looked him over. He returned the older man's gaze steadily and with quiet confidence.
A moment later, the stare down ended, and Kim's dad gave him an approving look. "That's my little girl you're dating and she's priceless. Treat her well and there won't be a problem."
"That's not even a question. I'm an honorable man, she'll be treated like royalty."
Suddenly the other man snorted derisively. "Don't see how that's even possible. He looks like a poster child for a thrift store."
Tommy held back a glare as he faced the other man. "And you are?"
"I'm Nathan Sorenson. I'll be marrying her mother in a month. You better learn to be more respectful to me."
Tommy's heckles were raised but he smoothly covered it up. "Sure, I'll be respectful, I'm so glad I have you to remind me of my place."
Sorensen raised his eyebrows. "I'm sure you will. Don't make me regret letting you stay around."
Tommy wanted so badly to respond, but Kimberly simply took his hand and led him away. They soon found themselves back at the pond.
"I don't like him, Kimberly. He's trouble. If he hurts you in any way, call me and I'll come get you."
"Try not to worry so much, Tommy. He and mom are happy. I don't want to be the cause of another divorce."
"Kim, you weren't the cause of the divorce the first time." Said a new voice. The love birds turned around to see Kim's dad standing close by. "Your mother has always been high maintenance and I just couldn't give her all she needed. I'm okay by myself and your mother seems happy with that snob." He paused and looked at his daughter. "Tommy's right; if anything happens or that new man mistreats you, I want you to get as far away from him as you can. You have my phone number if you need to escape. Okay?"
Kimberly got up and hugged her dad. "Okay."
Then Mr. Hart was looking at Tommy. "I can sense a quiet power and strength in you; otherwise I'd be putting up more of a fight. Take care of my baby girl for me. And just like I told my daughter, if you need help, call me." Saying this, he held out his hand and Tommy took it, they shook firmly. "I'll defend her with my life. Count on it."
The two men nodded at each other and then Mr. Hart walked away.
When they were alone again, Tommy drew her into his arms.
"What are we going to do now, Tommy?"
"I'm not going to let Sorenson separate us. I hate him already, but I must admit that he had a point. I do look like the poster child for a thrift store. I'm not loaded down like that asshole. A job is a good place to start, that way I can take you on real dates."
"Sounds good, Handsome. I can help you as far as clothes go."
Tommy frowned, "Why do I sense a make-over headed my way?"
Kimberly pecked his lips. "It won't be as bad as that. Just some new clothes, a trip to the mall will fix that, and that's it. I wouldn't dare mess with your hair."
Tommy knew then that he was in for it. "Okay, Kim. I'll go through with it."
End Flashback
Kim didn't tell me till much later, but the reason she pulled me out of the youth center was because my eyes were glowing bright green. My secret would have been exposed if I'd stayed. From then on, when I was feeling extreme emotion they glowed. That particular trait went dormant after I gained the White Ranger Powers and haven't surfaced again…. until of course the night of the take down when we got solid proof that Kayla inherited the trait.
After a brief moment, he continued. "It wasn't a surprise the night she called me on the communicator to come get her. I was in bed about to fall asleep when I heard the beeps. Her breath was hitching as if she'd been crying and that got me out of bed faster than if I'd been called to battle Goldar. I put on my track pants and my green hoodie a pair of sandals and peeled out of the driveway. To this day, I'm surprised I didn't get a speeding ticket."
Flashback
The old Chevy roared into the night and in no time was pulling up to the curb. Kimberly was sitting on the curb with her knees pulled up to her chest. Tommy jumped out of the driver seat and hurried her over, wrapping her up in his arms.
"What did that Asshole do to you? Do I need to take you to the hospital?"
Kimberly shook her head. "Tommy, get me out of here, please!"
"Okay, Beautiful. Let's get out of here." He reached behind him and opened the door to the passenger side. When Kim was in the seat he rounded to his side and jumped in.
End Flashback
"It wasn't until we got back to my place that I saw the big red handprint on her cheek. The son of bitch had slapped her really hard."
Flashback
When Tommy came back to the room after locking the front door, he paused in the door way. There was a beautiful girl in his bed. No, his beautiful girlfriend was in his bed. A moment later, he shoved his no so innocent thoughts away and walked to Kimberly with an ice pack in his hand.
She hissed at first when she applied the cold pack and then relaxed as Tommy sat cross legged across from her.
"So, what happened. Do I need to go back and beat that Asshole up?"
Kimberly shook her head. "We got into an argument. He was mad about the clothes, he immediately jumped to the conclusion that it was his money that I used. He was talking bad about you and I told him off. It was my money and my choice! He slapped me after that. Mom actually defended him! I had to get out of there! She threw me out, Tommy!"
"Because of me…fantastic." Came Tommy's dark reply.
"No, Tommy don't see it that way. I wanted to shop for you."
Tommy's eyes were glowing green again and Kim sucked in a breath.
"Tommy, please don't be upset. This was my choice!"
Tommy was shaking with rage. "I'm going to beat the mess out of that jerk for laying a hand on you. I don't know if I can hold on to my rage."
Kimberly crawled into his lap and that got his attention. "Tommy, you have to snap out of it, please! Don't make me call Jason and the others in. This is not how a Power Ranger acts!"
Tommy was still shaking with anger. "Don't do that Kimberly. Get off me, I don't want to hurt you."
"You swore to protect me with your life, and you can't protect me if you're in jail. You've got to snap out of it!"
End Flashback
"I won't go into how she managed to calm me down, but when I did, I realized that she was right about everything. That fucker wasn't worth my time and my Kimberly needed me. From that moment on, we lived together and when I finally lost my green ranger powers for good. We retreated to the Cabin and we lived there until I had to come back to town after receiving the white ranger powers."
There was silence in the garage for a moment.
"Now, it all makes sense." Connor said softly. He was about to say something else, but a tow truck had shown up with the Garcia brothers in the cab of the truck.
Ethan gave his mentor a confused look. "But if you love this car so much, why are you getting rid of it?"
Tommy gave him an incredulous look. "Who said anything about getting rid of it? When my Uncle passed away, he left this car to Kimberly. The car broke down around the time I got my secondary job. I've never let anyone handle this car for sentimental reasons and I've never found a mechanic that I trust."
"Amigo, I can promise that she's in good hands." Garcia said as he eyed the old car. "We'll have her road worthy in no time and make sure that she passes the inspection with flying colors."
Tommy gave him a serious look. "Remember what we discussed. This car is special to Kim and I and it's a big part of our story. Bring this car up to date and put in that modern stereo we talked about and we'll discuss the paint job later."
"You have nothing to worry about," Mr. Oliver. "I'll stake my family honor on that. She'll be treated like a VIP."
"I'm holding you to that."
It didn't take long to get the car onto the back of the tow truck. When they were gone, Tommy sighed heavily and turned to the others. Now, if you don't mind, I think I'll go for a walk. I could use some fresh air."
When he was gone, Connor turned to Ethan. "I suddenly want to go be with my wife. I'll catch you later."
Ethan couldn't agree with him more. He followed his friend out the door.
Tommy sat on the bed in their house and groaned softly. Along with the memories of that fateful night, he was assaulted by the other part of that story. The sexy ones that he'd never speak of to anyone… they were private….
It would take some time after that night for them to finally go all the way. That night, she'd innocently sat on his lap with her hot core over his cock. She'd done it to get his attention, to snap him out of his anger, and it had worked. But it had awakened a whole new monster…
Suddenly, as if in a dream. He felt that warm heat over his privates again. He opened his eyes to see his beautiful wife facing him.
"Kim, what are you doing here? I thought you were with the other women?"
She pointed to her head. "We are one, my Falcon. I could feel your…lust all the way from the house."
"Kim, you don't have to, I can handle this on my own."
She kissed him hotly and slowly took his shirt off of him. "So, want to tell me what brought this on?"
"I told them about the night I rescued you from…that place you lived. I didn't bring up how you managed to calm me down…" He groaned as she took her own shirt off.
"Good to know." She said as she took her bra off. "That was such a huge moment for me. I'd never dared to think about straddling you. Back then, the thought of doing that seemed like such a naughty thing to do."
Tommy could only nod as his wife unzipped is pants and then sat back over him. Kim, are you sure you're up for this?"
"Are you really turning down the chance for a quickie?" Kim questioned him back.
Tommy shook his head and Kim pressed a kiss to his lips as she pushed him down on the bed.
"I didn't think so." Kim said with a sexy smile.
