62 Days until I see Gunnar
Adam's POV
We are down to two months, before I would see Gunnar again! I was finally getting pretty toned, I have been able to see some better abs within the last month, thank the good lord, because I hit a plateau in late December and my weight loss dropped from about a pound and 3/4th a week to a pound. Ugh it was going so slowly. My Primary Care physician at Lakeshore said that this was good, I was hitting the end of where I needed to be at. But he let me train a little harder if I would not be stupid and go back to the way I was. I told him no I was done with trying to kill myself. So I added some yoga into my workout routine. I was even teaching the guys how to do some Yoga poses. Things were almost going right, I was starting to come home more and more with Gordon and Michele, I did well on my SAT's. I got those scores on April 16th.
{Flashback April 16th, 1999}
I went to my mailbox after school and retrieved my mail on the very top was my SAT score. I went to the office.
"I got my SAT scores," I said.
"Open them up and read them," Ollie said.
"I can't Ollie, you do it," I said as I handed him my envelope.
"Ok here we go," Ollie said as he started to open the envelope.
"No, no wait," I said.
"Okay," Ollie said.
"Ok open it," I said.
"Okay," Ollie said, and he opened the envelope a little more when he was halfway.
"No, No, NO WAIT!" I yelled and I started to panic.
"Adam the scores are going to be the same whether or not you open the envelope," Annie said.
I grabbed Annie's hand and said, "Alright let's get it over with Ollie."
"Are you sure Adam?" Ollie asked.
"Yes," I said as I squeezed my eyes.
"Okay here we go,' Ollie said as he finished opening the envelope. I had a tight grip on Annie's hand. I felt bad that I was starting to crush it. ' Adam Jonathan Banks social security number 978-09-68…."
"GET ON WITH IT!" I screamed.
"Ok, ok relax Adam. Geeze," Ollie said.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," I said.
"Math is a 750,' Annie gasped, 'Critical Reading 745. Total score 1495," Ollie said.
"1495? 1495?" I asked.
"Are you happy?" Ollie said.
"Are you kidding me? I am ecstatic!" I said looking over the score sheet.
"Congratulations Adam, you're going to the University of Minnesota!" Mike said.
"That's if I play hockey again," I said. I still had to prove to the athletic department I was worth taking a shot on.
"Congratulations I knew you could do it," Ollie said.
"Can I call Gunnar, Please, PLEASE, PLEASE. I will give up my phone call on Sunday," I said.
"I don't see why not, but keep it short, Adam," Dr. Binford said. They all left the room to give me some privacy.
I dialed the number to Gunnar and Charlie's
"Hello?" I heard the familiar Icelandic voice of my boyfriend.
"Hi Gunnar, it's me. I can't talk long but I wanted to tell you that I got a 1495 on my SAT's," I said.
"That's fery good, congratulations!" Gunnar said.
"How did you do?" I asked.
"I got 1430, so not bad," Gunnar said. Then I heard a chair hit the wall.
"What was that?" I asked.
"Charlie, he's mad over his SAT score, got a 1075. Plus the situation vith Bella vint helping," Gunnar said.
"Situation with Bella? What's going on?" I asked. I was scared something bad had happened to her. I had heard how Mark Higgens got expelled from Eden Hall and that Bella broke up with the jerk.
"Oh it's not bad. There's a new guy vhat Bella is getting to know. And Charlies mad because of that relationship," Gunnar said.
"A new guy? I hope he isn't a druggy like Mark was," I said.
"Oh no, he is not the type. Fery straight and varrow. His dad's in the vir torcf," Gunnar said.
"Vir torcf? You mean Air Force?" I asked.
"Vah that's it. Vooming with Guy," Gunnar said.
"Guy and an Air Force brat. That sounds like a match made in heaven," I said as I rolled my eyes. I, Jesse, Charlie, and Guy shared a room at the Junior Goodwill games. I decided that I was never going to be Guy's roommate again. He was such a pig! Just then I heard what sounded like a hand or a foot going through the wall and Charlie groaning.
"Adam, I haf to go. Charlie just broke his hand, I love you," Gunnar said, and he hung up.
I whispered, "I love you, too." I hung up the phone.
{End of Flashback}
I got up late this morning, I was watching a movie marathon with the guys, Star Wars episodes 4, 5 and 6. A New Hope, The Empire strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Mike and Jeremy were huge Star War fan's, and they could not wait until next Friday to take us boys into Periwinkle and see the new Stars Wars flick the Phantom Menace. It was almost 2:30 in the morning before I went to bed last night. So no wonder I was so tired that I didn't get up early enough for the run and work out, but that was okay I had all day to get it done.
At 10:30 in the morning I finally woke up and got dressed for the 10-mile run that I do on the weekends. On the weekdays, I only have enough time for 8 miles. I usually took Ollie with me to go and run and sometimes it would be Jeremy who would go with us, this morning I could not find either.
"Hey Annie; have you seen Ollie or Jeremy?" I asked.
"No sweetheart, Ollie is in Redding fundraising. Jeremy took several of the boys to the barber for haircuts," Annie said.
"Oh great, who's going to run with me?" I asked.
I knew that Georgia and Annie could not do it, because Georgia was 7 months pregnant, and Annie was 3 months pregnant. Dr. Binford was too old to run 10 miles or so he said. No one else was here and Mike was sadly out of shape.
"I will go let me get changed," Mike said.
"No Mike it's okay I will just go workout on my workout bench and wait for Ollie, he should be back pretty soon, right?" I asked.
"Adam, I think I can handle the run. We might have to stop and rest every now and again but that is okay, right?" Mike asked.
"Well alright," I said.
It was obvious that Mike was way out of shape for this, we had to stop at every mile to let him catch his breath and rest for a few minutes. I kept up my cardio by jogging in place just to keep my heart rate up.
"Hold on, Hold on. Let me catch my breath!" Mike said to me at mile 5 with his hand on his knees and he was bent over. I jogged in place and saw that he was gasping for air. The air was very thin up in the mountains.
Mike was breathing heavily, "You are not going to pass out and die on me, right Mike?" I asked.
"No, I am just out of shape and too old for this,' Mike took some more heavy breaths in and then said, 'How were you able to stay so fast when you were at your heaviest weight?"
"It wasn't easy, but luckily I was always trained to be fast," I said as I smiled at him.
"How many more miles do we have to do before we get back to Lakeshore?" Mike asked.
"About 5 more miles," I said.
"Five… Five miles?" Mike said.
"Come on Mike you can do it," I said.
I stuck with Mike for 4 and half of those last five miles, then I put on the speed because I knew that we were close. When Mike was about .2 miles from the property line that I was standing on I screamed, "COME ON MIKE, DON'T GIVE UP, YOUR ALMOST THERE!" Even Henry was quacking at him, cheering him on.
When Mike finally reached where I was at, I said; "Come on let's walk the rest of the way up to the house." I was sufficiently cooled down by then and all stretched out.
"That's a good idea," Mike said. By the time we got up to the house Annie met us outside and Mike collapsed into her arms.
"10 miles is an awfully long way. I am completely out of shape." Mike said.
"Let's get you inside, Mike," Annie said. Luckily, Annie used to be a CNA before she met and married Mike. But she let her CNA license expire when she and Mike got the job at Lakeshore. I ended up helping Annie get Mike inside. I was thinking about what I would like to do as an adult. I thought about working as a Vet or a Vet Tech when Henry got hit with the puck, but I wasn't completely sure. Annie said something profound, I had plenty of time to decide on what I wanted to do with my life.

Adam's POV
56 Days until I see Gunnar
Man is Ollie being excessive compulsive when it came to cleaning this week. I don't know what was happening, when Ollie dragged in another mattress and stuck it on the floor. I knew that something was amiss.
"What's that for," I said.
"It's uh for my back. It's been bugging me this week," Ollie said.
"Uh huh sure,' I said as I saw Ollie take the mattress and put it underneath his bed. 'Should it go underneath the mattress that you sleep on?"
"Well, I …. I" Ollie said.
I just shook my head before I said, "Ollie you are a horrible liar, and you can't keep a secret. So spill what is it?
"Well look at the time, I have work to do, I will see you later," Ollie said and then left.
He is hiding something, and I wish I knew what it was. I followed Ollie to the office and found the door locked. I was going to confront Ollie when I saw him next time.
Charlie's POV
Today was the day, I was going to break up with Reese. I had spent much of the last two weeks avoiding her. Even going home at night, instead of staying at the dorms. I had slowly moved my stuff out of the dorm during the last two weeks.
"Nervous Charlie?" Guy asked me, while we were in line for our last school lunch. Leftovers, Yuk!
"Yep, I know I am doing the right thing. But still," I said.
"I know that's how I felt the 1st time I broke up with Connie," Guy said.
"And now Paddy and Bella are getting closer and closer I thought that Portman was supposed to be pulling them apart," I said.
"I don't know what to tell you about Portman, there has been something funny about him ever since you announced to us that you were breaking up with Reese," Guy said.
"I know," I said as we sat down at the duck's table. Bella and Paddy were at the end of the table.
Just then Guy saw Reese enter the cafeteria. "Incoming one soon to be ex-girlfriend looking very pissed off," Guy said.
"CHARLIE! WE NEED TO TALK," Reese demanded.
"Hello Reese," I said.
"HOW DARE YOU! HOW DARE YOU DO WHAT YOU DID!" Reese demanded.
"I don't understand what you are talking about, Reese," I said.
"You told Mrs. Cooper the truth," Reese said.
"I had to," I said.
"Well now I am going to fail parenting class thanks to you," Reese said.
"That is all your fault. Not mine, you oversaw that baby and you neglected that baby. If it were real that baby would be in the custody of social services by now," I said.
"YOU JERK HOW DARE YOU DO THAT TO ME!" Reese said to me.
"We are done, Reese. I am tired of walking on eggshells around you and you treating me like an idiot and treating my friends like they are beneath you," I said.
"Because they are, especially that BITCH BELLA!" Reese said.
"She is not a bitch. You are," I said.
Then I was slapped, and she ran out of the cafeteria screaming and crying. The rest of the student body laughed at her except for Bella and Paddy. Bella was crying and Paddy had his arm around Bella comforting her. That should have been me, not Paddy.
