Chapter 1: Recruitment/ Cheerio, Kanker Sisterios! (Octo Valley Area 1 Theme: Octo Valley (Area 1) - Splatoon Music Extended - YouTube)

All the agents are at the first area of Octo Valley at Cuttlefish's Shack to discuss the plan. Jonny emerges out of the manhole in octopus form, then reforms his humanoid shape. Captain Cuttlefish stops the discussion to meet this Newcomer.

Cuttlefish: "Hello there young whipper snapper! I see you got a cool afro and a splattershot made of wood with a face. I like your style. My name is Captain Cuttlefish."

Jonny: "Nice ta' meet ya' Captain! I'm Jonny! And this is my best buddy Plank! Say hi buddy! Don't be a stranger!"

Plank says hi, but nobody understands him because he is made of wood.

Cuttlefish: "Eh, you signed out the paper?"

Jonny: "Yep, Plank and I did a good job filling them out, right buddy?!"

Cuttlefish reads the paper. Cuttlefish: "So you want to help citizens that were tricked by the Octarian and bring them back to Inkopolis. Sounds good. Your codename is Agent 2x4."

Jonny: "Great! What's Plank's codename?!"

Cuttlefish: "Eh?" Jonny: "Don't worry, he has his own nickname. Splintershot, or Splinter for short."

Cuttlefish: "Sure, whatever. Anyway, why don't you introduce yourself to the agents of the New Squidbeak Splatoon?"

Agent 1: "That new kid is sooo weird, especially when he talks to that wooden weapon of his."

Agent 2: "Just play along, he is the new agent here. Besides, we need someone to save the citizens of Inkopolis."

Cuttlefish: "These are my granddaughters, the Squid Sisters, Callie and Marie. But you can refer to them as Agents 1 and 2. This is the new agent, Jonny, or Agent 2x4, and his weapon Plank, or Splinter."

Jonny: "Woah, you are the famous Squid Sisters?! This is sooo awesome! Plank and I are huge fans! We watch your News every day and listen to all your songs! Can I have your autograph?!"

Marie: "Um, why don't we get our boundaries set. First, you need gear, so here." Marie gave Jonny the Hero Snow boots, the Hero Headset, and Hero Jacket. Jonny puts the gear on.

Jonny: "Wow, that is so awesome! What does Splinter get?!"

Callie to Marie: "Can you hurry this up? He's creeping me out."

Marie: "Don't worry, I have this. Eh, Agent 2x4, why don't you show us what Splinter can do."

Jonny: "Okay! If I believe hard enough, Plank will change!" Agent 2x4 believes hard and throws his weapon into the sky. All the agents look confused and annoyed at the fact that Jonny lost his weapon. Callie: "WHY DID YOU THROW YOUR WEAPON?!" Then suddenly, Splinter turns into a roller, and lands back into his hand. Callie is amazed and impressed. Callie: "THAT IS TOTALLY AWESOME! YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR WEAPON AT WILL!"

Marie: "Can you change it into a charger?!" Agent 2x4: "Sure thing! Ready buddy?!" Splinter nods, and Agent 2x4 throws Splinter into the air, and Splinter becomes a charger. Marie: "WOAH!"

Agent 4: "This agent makes switching weapons easier."

Agent 8: "Yeah, tell me about it." Agent 8 remembers her time in the metro.

Agent 3: "Hey, the new kid is coming. Be ready to introduce ourselves."

The agents then introduce themselves to Agent 2x4 and Splinter, and Agent 2x4 introduces himself and Splinter. The agents are weirded out at first, but realize Splinter's ability, and get to know them.

Jonny: "You know, Agent 8, you remind me of that blue haired girl Marie Kanker! She gives the Cul Du Sac the creeps!"

Agent 8: "Well, I don't know who you're talking about, and I am not that girl. Where did you say you were from?"

Agent 2x4: "I am from Sea Peach in the Cul Du Sac! The blue haired girl I mentioned is from Park n' Splat! Some of the kids, including those Kankers, disappeared, and Splinter and I have a hunch that the Octarians have something to do with this!"

Agent 8: "Huh, interesting. That is why we are here."

Cuttlefish: "Speaking of Octarians, it's time for the discussion!"

The agents and Cuttlefish discuss what the Octarians are planning. Cuttlefish then assigns missions to the Agents.

Cuttlefish: "Agents 1 and 2, you will be on the lookout and assist the other agents and any civilians who come out of the kettles."

Agents 1 and 2: "Yes sir, gramps!"

Cuttlefish: "Agent 3, you will infiltrate the kettles that lead to the octoweapons!"

Agent 3: "Yes sir!"

Cuttlefish: "Agent 4, you will find the zapfish and save them!"

Agent 4: "Yes sir!"

Cuttlefish: "Agent 2x4, you will find civilians in the kettles controlled by the Octarians!"

Agent 2x4: "Yes sir! Right buddy?!" Splinter nods.

Cuttlefish: "Yeah, anyway, Agent 8, you will assist any agent who is overwhelmed by enemies in the kettle!"

Agent 8 remembers the time in the Metro where she was overwhelmed and does not want the same thing to happen to her comrades. Agent 8: "Yes sir!"

Cuttlefish: Alright, Agents, spread out!"

The agents then go through the area and seek out the kettles. Agents 3, 4, and 8 easily find the kettles, but Agent 2x4 has trouble. Agent 2x4: "Gee Splinter, do you know where the kettle is?" Splinter then points Jonny to the invisible kettle. Jonny: "Buddy, I don't think there is a kettle there." Splinter fires rounds of Agent 2x4's ink at the kettle, and it appears. Jonny: "You really are a big problem solver!" Jonny then turns into an octopus and enters the kettle.

Agent 2x4 enters the Octarian variant of the trailer park at his home.

Agent 2x4: "Gee Splinter, this place gives me the creeps." Splinter then says something. Agent 2x4: "What's that buddy?"

Agents 1 and 2 then call Agent 2x4 on the headset. Agent 2x4 answers.

Agent 1: "Agent, focus on the mission. I see some civilians at that Octo spawn point. They look like trailer trash girls with weapons; one has a roller, the other has a blaster, and the last one has an Octoshot."

Agent 2: "Wow, this place is a dump. I would not want to make that place a pit-stop. HAHAHA!"

Agent 2x4 looks at the distant spawn point and recognizes the three civilians with hypnoshades as THE KANKER SISTERS! AAAAHHHHH!

Agent 2x4: "IT'S THE KANKERS! WE'RE DONE BUDDY!"

Agent 1: "Dude, don't worry! Focus on the mission! Just knock the shades off those civilians like how Agent 2 saved me. Then direct them to the kettle so we can get them out of this awful place!"

Agent 2: "Yep, I remember that I had to use the hero charger to knock the shades off of you."

Agent 1: "Don't remind me!"

Agent 2x4 then finds his cool, throws Splintershot into the air, and Splinter becomes a charger. The Kanker sisters then notice him.

Lee Kanker: "Hey! It's that weird kid!"

May Kanker: "Yeah, it's what's his face?!"

Marie Kanker: "Who cares, he seems to be working for Squidbeak Splatoon!"

Lee Kanker: "Let's introduce him to the park, KANKER STYLE!" They then laugh maniacally. Lee Kanker becomes an octopus and launches to where Jonny is. Lee: "Hey dude! Welcome to the trailer park! And here is your special delivery! HEHEHE!" Lee then raises her roller to crush Agent 2x4. Splinter fires rounds to the side and tells Agent 2x4 to dodge to the right and climb up the nearest trailer. Lee Kanker then slams the roller down to crush Agent 2x4, but the agent dodges in time and climbs up the trailer. Lee Kanker notices that she missed. Lee: "HEY! WHERE'D HE GO?!" Agent 2x4 aims Splinter at the hypnoshades. He fires a round. When Lee Kanker noticed where he was, his ink knocked her shades off. She then wakes up and is confused. Lee Kanker: "Hey Squirt! What's your problem?! And where the hell am I?!" Agent 2x4: "Listen citizen! You are not at home! The Octarians have captured you, and I saved you! Go to that kettle to return home!" Lee Kanker: "And what if I don't?!" Agent 2x4: "Then the Octarians will find you again and place those awful shades on your face!" Lee realizes that Agent 2x4 is right and heads to the kettle to escape. She becomes an octopus and enters the kettle.

Marie Kanker then launches from the spawn point to Agent 2x4's area, letting out a big YAHOOOO! Marie Kanker: "Hi there cutie! Why not join the Octarians?! We have powerful weapons!" Marie Kanker points the blaster at Agent 2x4. Splinter fires rounds to the next trailer, and Agent 2x4 hides in the ink, and hops from one trailer to the next. Marie Kanker fires a round but misses. Marie Kanker: "I know where you are sweetie! Come on down here!" Agent 2x4 as an octopus then slips through the grate into the trailer. Marie Kanker then destroys the door to the trailer and destroys furniture and the TV to find Agent 2x4, but no luck. The agent is hiding behind the entrance to the kitchen. Marie Kanker: "Come over here and give me a kiss!" Marie Kanker then walks into the kitchen. As she stands at the entrance, Agent 2x4 is standing next to her, and fires a round of ink at her shades. Agent 2x4: "There, that's my kiss!"

Marie Kanker: "Why did you do that, and where am I?!"

Agent 2x4: "Listen, you are not at your home! Return to the kettle, or the Octarians will find you again and force you to put the shades on!" Agent 2x4 then directs her to the kettle. Marie Kanker then panics and heads toward the kettle. She enters octopus form and jumps into the kettle.

May Kanker then launches to where Agent 2x4 is and is already firing rounds. May Kanker: "How about a big hug for my honey?!" Agent 2x4 then leaves the trailer, and May crashes through, firing more rounds. Agent 2x4 then throws a burst bomb at her face, knocking the shades off. May: "What was that for?!"

Agent 2x4: "Listen, the Octarians will find out soon! Return to the kettle if you want to go home!" The agent then points his charger at the kettle. Frightened about the Octarians, May flees and goes through the kettle. Agent 2x4 notices that he is next to the zapfish. He contacts Agent 4, and Agent 4 arrives at Agent 2x4's location, claims the zapfish, and they both leave through the kettle, Inkling and Octoling.

Kettle 2: Bursting with Ink... Gusher Gauntlet (Music: Tentacular Circus Tentacular Circus (Turquoise October) - Splatoon 2 Music Extended - YouTube) (Hero ink: Yellow) (Enemy ink: red violet)

After claiming the first zapfish, Agent 4 enters this level. Agent 1: "I spy with my little eye, a zapfish at the end. Make sure to grab it."

Agent 2: "Just be careful of the octopods, Twintacle octotroopers and octotroopers, and octostamps."

Agent 1: "And make sure to hit the gushers to move forward."

The weapon copter appears with Sheldon, and he gives Agent 4 the splat dualies. The octopods notice him and rush him. But he immediately notices them and splats them. He hits the first gusher, which takes him to the launch pad. He enters squid form and launches from the first platform to the next.

The octostamps try to squish him, but fail, and he splats them. He hits the next gusher, travels up it, and launches from the launch pad. "NGYES!" At the next platform, the octotroopers try to shoot him down, but fail and get splatted. The agent then hits 3 gushers to take out the three Twintacles. The gushers lead him to the zapfish, and he claims his prize. He returns to the kettle and back to the Valley.

Agent 3 enters the kettle to the boss arena.

Agent 2: "Careful, you don't want to kiss those lips. Heheh."

Agent 1: "Just don't get squashed, 'kay?"

Agent 3 launches to the boss arena. The zapfish descends from the heavens and is immediately grabbed by a tentacle with a green cross. The giant cube comes to life and reveals a giant ink stamp face. The Octostomp screams out "Imma squash you kid!" And charges toward Agent 3. Agent 3 dodges, and Octostomp tries to squash her, but fails. Agent 3 fires ink on its wall, turns into a squid, crawls up, and fires rounds at the tentacle. The tentacle bursts, and the agent is launched back onto the platform. "WOOMY!"

Octostomp gets a new tentacle, gets back up, and removes 4 plates from its walls. It then equips a jacket with a strap. It then screams "Try and get this Jacket Off! Imma squash you kid!" Agent 3 does not remember the jacket but sees the strap. Octostomp fires rounds at the agent, but she dodges them all. Then it tries to squash the agent but misses. As soon as it got up, Agent 3 was firing rounds at the strap, and knocked it off. This surprised Octostomp. It tries to squash Agent 3, but fails, the agent fires rounds at the 5 plates, climbs up, and bursts the tentacle. The agent then launches back on the platform. "WOOMY!

A new tentacle takes its place, Octostomp stands up, removes 2 more plates. The 2 plates on top and bottom move left and right. The Octostomp then equips the jacket, has three faces, screams "IMMA SQUASH YOU KID!" and charges at Agent 3. The agent is overwhelmed and calls Agent 8. She arrives on time to help Agent 3 out. She throws a booyah bomb at Octostomp's strap, causing the jacket to fall off. It charges and tries to squash both agents but fails. Agent 8 equips the ink jetpack, grabs Agent 3, and throws her onto the back of the Octostomp. Agent 3 fires rounds at the tentacle, causing Octostomp to burst. The zapfish is in its place. Agent 3 calls Agent 4 over to claim their prize, and Agents 3, 4 and 8 return to the kettle to head back to the Valley.

Agents 3, 4 and 8 emerge from the kettle to notice Agents 1, 2 and 2x4 talking to Marie Kanker.

Marie Kanker: "Wait, so you are the Squid Sisters. AAAHHHH, I'M YOUR BIGGEST FAN! I LOVE YOUR SONG CALAMARI INKANTATION!"

Agent 2: "Yep, we are the ones you see on the news." Marie Kanker: "Oh by the way, I noticed that both our names are Marie. Ain't that a funny coinkidink?" Agent 2: "Yeah, hilarious." Agent 1: "Hey, you want us to do that thing?" Marie Kanker: "AAAHHHH, I WOULD LOVE IT IF YOU DID THAT!" Agents 1 and 2: "And remember... Staaayyy Fresh!" Marie Kanker: "AAAAHHHHH, I LOVE YOU GUYS! WE SHOULD GET EACH OTHERS' NUMBERS!" The squid sisters agree, and get Marie Kanker's number, as well as Marie Kanker getting both agents' numbers. Marie Kanker: "Thank you guys so much! I have to go; Lee gets grumpy when she does not have shrimp for dinner." Lee Kanker: "Hurry it up! I'm starving! Also, May needs to get the barnacles off her feet!" May Kanker: "They're really itchy and painful!" Marie Kanker: "Alright, quit flapping your yap, I'm coming! Bye Squid Sisters!" Agents 1 and 2: "Bye Marie Kanker!" Lee Kanker: "Bye Agent 2x4 3!" Agent 2x4 flinches in fear. The Kankers then go through the manhole back to Inkoplis Plaza, and head back to the trailer park.

Back at Octo Valley, the agents and Cuttlefish have a late-night party to celebrate. Agents 1 and 2 sing their famous songs Bomb Rush Blush ( Bomb Rush Blush - Splatoon Music Extended - YouTube) and Tide Goes Out ( Tide Goes Out - Splatoon Music Extended - YouTube). The agents fry up smores over a campfire, and Cuttlefish dances like a goof to his granddaughters' singing. After the party, the Agents discuss what happens next. Agent 1: "There is a spot in Octo Canyon that has our Cuttlefish Cabin." Agent 2: "Yeah, but the area is overrun with Octarians, so we need your help to get it back!" Agent 2x4: "I am glad that I didn't get kissed by those horrid Kankers, you remember what they did to you, right buddy?" Splinter then has scary flashbacks of the Kankers tormenting him. Agent 3: "I almost got squashed by the Octostomp today." Agent 4: "Not only that, but I also got chased by octopods and octostamps." Agent 8: "Is nobody going to mention that I helped Agent 3 finish off the boss?" Cuttlefish: "Alright, I am sure we are all tired and grumpy, so we should go to bed." The agents agree and they all get in their sleeping mats and go to sleep to get ready for Octo Canyon the next day. Agent 1: "Marie, do you ever wonder what other worlds are out there in those stars? If there is life like ours out there?" Agent 2: "Yeah, I'm sure there is. Let's go to sleep. Goodnight Callie." Agent 1: "Goodnight Marie."
