Chapter 11: Evil Queen or Mother?

Neverland

Little Daniel was running as fast as he could through the lost boys' camps, trying to find Fiona. The wanted flyer of the evil Queen was crumbled rightly under his small grip. Eli's words were still going around his head "she is evil Henry, she killed Fiona's dad" - Daniel couldn't believe such things because that's not the Regina he knows, there's no way that she is the evil queen. It was probably just a big misunderstanding. His brunette mother was kind, sure she could look a bit scary sometimes, but she took care of him when that storm hit! And when his blonde mother was losing her cool on that school morning, Regina helped him out, so there was no way she could be evil. "Fiona!"

The sixteen year old girl was sitting down while up a spear of a big stick she found. "Huh? What's going on, Daniel?" She perked up at him, calling out her name because his tone sounded kind of desperate, but she still had half of her attention shaving off the wood with her dagger.

Daniel stopped right in front of her and tried to quickly catch his breath, but It was still taking him awhile to talk because he didn't realize how much he was actually hyperventilating while running. – Other kids started to gather around both the siblings, curious about what was going on.

"Hey, you alright? Did a panther find you or what?" Fiona raised one of her eyebrows as she eyed the younger blonde boy. He seemed very distressed.

"Is it-… is it true that-…that the evil queen… killed your dad?" He asked while still trying to control his breathing.

Fiona was rather taken back by this question. This was definitely something she did not expect "…yes," she frowned and got her attention back on the spear.

Daniel had an upward frown at getting the answer he didn't want to hear. "W-Well! Is this the evil queen? Is she the one who did it?!" He shot his arm forward, showing the flyer he was still gripping on so tightly, like he was afraid someone would take it away from him. It was the only way he could find his mother quickly and he wasn't going to let that chance escape.

Fiona looked at the flyer from the corner of her eyes before averting her attention to shaving off the ends of the stick, making it sharp. She was starting to get upset, she hated talking about her past. In fact, the only reason why the boys know her father was killed by the evil queen, was because Peter Pan said so. At least that was his story of how apparently he saved Fiona from a house fire caused by the Evil Queen's wrath and that her dad died in that fire and her mother was nowhere to be seen.

"Well?!" Daniel raised his voice to get her attention back on him. All the other boys were very silent because they knew Fiona was going to snap really soon, nobody talked to her that way and last time someone did, they got a good beating.

"What?!" Fiona barked as she stood up and threw her spear to the floor, making the little blonde boy jump a bit. "Yes, Daniel, that's the Evil Queen, and yes, she is the one who killed my father. She also took away a lot from all of us, so what is the problem now? Why are you so worked up?"

Daniel stared at the brunette girl, starting to feel intimidated under her gaze, but he was still brave enough to defend his family, "because that can't be true! Maybe everyone is just confused about who she really is!"

Fiona approached the younger boy, staring him down. She couldn't understand why he was defending the evil queen and she didn't like this one bit. "What are you talking about, Daniel? That drawing is definitely the Evil Queen. There are no misunderstandings here, we all know perfectly the face of the person who took so much from us."

Daniel's eyes started to fill up with tears as he choked in his own words, "b-but t-that can't b-be true!" As he struggled, Eli showed up, still chewing on his piece of bread, he figured he had to follow Daniel to see what he was up to, but he never thought he'd actually be having a face off with Fiona as the other boys lined up around them. "Dani says that's his mom," Eli said as he pointed at the flyer the blonde boy held.

All the boys gasped when they heard Eli's words and Fiona simply snatched the flyer away from Daniel's grip. She wasn't going to entertain this anymore, she could see the boys were getting worked up and curious about this little showdown the 8-year-old pulled.

"Hey! Give it back!" Daniel complained with a high pitched tone as he tried to take the flyer back from Fiona, but obviously he was still at her shoulder level and all she had to do was really just push him off of her. She didn't mean to be so hands on but Daniel was really fighting for it, so she saw no other choice but to push him away.

"That's enough, go calm yourself down," she warned him with a cold tone before turning on her heel and walking away from this. What she didn't let anyone know was that this got her all worked up. She didn't expect to remember such painful memories and for Daniel to start this nonsense.

Daniel was now on his butt, tears falling over his cheeks, some of the boys were chuckling because they found it funny when he fell and other boys were already walking away, minding their own business. Altercations between everyone weren't new here. I mean this place was the best for that. Young boys usually don't get along, so they bicker all the time, but they still have got each other's backs at the very end.

"Welp, now that's done, let's go fishing, Dani," Eli said, wiping his hands down on his clothes after finishing eating his bread. He didn't think this was that deep, but it was very deep for Daniel.

"Shut up, Eli," Daniel muttered under his breath as he stood up.

"Hey, what did you just say to me?!" Eli snapped, clenching his little fists. "I'm being nice, why you acting like that?!"

Daniel turned to the other boy, feeling oddly brave, "I told you to shut up! You don't get it! I want to find my mom!" Now this little argument was getting the others' attention again and they were circling around the two boys, whispering for them to fight. It was always entertaining to watch.

"That's not your mom! And if it is, then she doesn't care about you! Why do you think you are here?! All of us are orphans, either our parents died or they left us!" Eli shouted back as he approached Daniel.

"She does care! She just doesn't know I'm here to look for her! I'm sure she is looking for me too!" Daniel said in his rage as tears kept falling down over his chubby cheeks.

"The Evil Queen will never care about little kids like us! Nobody is coming to get you, Dani!"

"Shut up!" Daniel screamed as he tackled Eli to the floor. Now the two young boys were at it. The rest were just making it worse by encouraging them to fight and neither of them had any intention of stopping anytime soon.

Evil Queen's Castle

Emma struggled against chains that kept her in place by her ankles and wrists, she could hear footsteps approaching and whatever was going about to happen, she had no intention of sticking around to find out. Obviously, she was no match against chains so she tried to use her magic on them, but for some reason her magic wasn't working, only small white sparks came out of her hands. "Fuck me, she is smart," Emma muttered under her breath while continuing to struggle. Of course, they chained her with something that would stop her magic. Soon the door flew open and it was the all and mighty Evil Queen stepping inside the cell that was up in the highest tower of her castle.

"Well, well, I see someone is testing out my magic chains," The Evil Queen said coyly as the door closed behind her. Brown eyes were studying every detail of the other women's figure, the same way green eyes couldn't tear away from the sight of the brunette. This was basically the woman that got her pregnant. Well, in this case, they got each other pregnant, but from what Gold said, the Evil Queen should have no memory of such a pregnancy and obviously she has no memory of Emma, so this was going to be another emotional interaction. The blonde thought she didn't have to go through this again, seeing Regina after 8 years, but now she also has to deal with seeing her 'Gina after all this time and pretend again nothing ever happened between them.

"Oh yea, they are quite handy, aren't they? Good craftsman ship, or in this case welding-ship?" Emma figured making a joke out of this situation would make things better, but as usual, the Evil Queen didn't appreciate the saviour's humor, so she simply stated at Emma without ant reaction towards her words. "Huh, tough crowd," Emma muttered as she looked around, trying to search for any possible escape routes.

"Anyway, you are going to tell me who you are and what you are doing in my kingdom, because I'm aware of every magic user in these lands, but I got no information about you, especially about such…white magic," the evil queen almost spat out the last couple words.

"Well if it makes you feel any better, I'm not actually saying here, so if you aren't kind, what about you remove these chains from me and we can both pretend we never saw each other and I'll get out of your kingdom, huh?" Emma did her best to show a convincing innocent smile.

The brunette just stared at the blonde woman before bursting out laughing. She couldn't believe the other woman was really proposing such a thing, it was like she didn't know the actual situation. Emma's heart tightened at the sound of that laughter, it had a little bit of wickedness in it and she remembered that's how 'Gina used to laugh. "You are really delusional, aren't you? Do you really think I'm just going to set free a potential future threat?" She said while approaching the blonde woman.

Emma kept her anxious smile while letting out a nervous chuckle, "who says I'm a threat? Really, lady, you'll never see me again if you let me go."

"Hey," the evil queen said sternly as she grabbed Emma's chin and made her look at her, "that's your majesty for you, peasant."

Emma gulped under the brunette's gaze and touch, she could swear she felt a small electricity spark between them and if the evil queen felt it as well, she couldn't know. "Yes, sorry, your majesty, " Emma decided to play along, by now she knew how the other woman worked, so she wasn't going to make this harder for herself. The hardest thing for herself really was having Gina so close up to her, actually touching her and looking into her eyes. Emma had dreamed of this day and had nightmares about it as well. There were major mixed feelings.

"You seem familiar," the evil queen muttered under her breath as she inspected Emma's features by still holding her chin and moving her head from side to side. There was definitely a bit of familiarity in those green eyes, nobody looked at her like that, they all looked at her with fear or anger, especially if they were her prisoner, but never looked at her with such softness.

Emma gasped at the queen's rough touch and words, could she perhaps remember her? "Do you remember me, 'Gina?" The words came out flying out of her mouth before she had any time to think it through and stop herself, perhaps a big part of her wanted this back, wanted the evil queen to remember everything, so they could have their happily ever after, that day still played painful memories in her heart, she never really got over it, she just knew how to deal with it better.

The Evil Queen's eye twitched at those words, "who do you think you are?!" As soon as she dropped Emma's chin, she struck her pale cheek with a tan hand full of rings, so no wonder one of those rings cut Emma's lip. "It seems like I need to show you, your place. I don't know who you are or what you have planned, but I will make sure you regret the very moment you stepped your foot in my kingdom," the Evil Queen threatened, as Emma spat out a bit of blood. – This was about to end very badly for her.

Neverland

There was another Swan that had a bloody lip and also a black eye, and that was little Daniel. As predicted, he didn't win the fight against Eli. Daniel wasn't best known for his fighting skills, only recently Fiona taught him how to use a bow. "Stupid, Eli," Daniel muttered, angrily under his breath as he swung a stick around, batting away the bushes and big leaves. After the fight, he decided to just walk away and have some time alone. He was too frustrated and angry about everything and also tired of always crying, but destiny wasn't helping! He got his ass beat up and the only picture he had of his mother to go search for her, and to make it worse everyone thinks she is evil! – But what if she is? Maybe that would explain why his blonde mother never let her into their lives, doesn't it? But he couldn't imagine her being evil, she was kind and caring towards him.

Before Daniel could indulge in his thoughts and go into a spiral mood, he spotted Fiona sitting down on top of a tree branch, high up. He was about to call out for her but after what happened, he also didn't want to see her but she had his flyer! And he wanted it back! So he picked up a rock and threw it as hard as he could towards Fiona's direction. He actually managed to hit her ankle with it and that got her immediate attention, but Daniel shrieked after seeing such a glare towards him.

"What do you want?" Fiona said while eyeing the young boy with a frown.

"Can…" Daniel gathered all his courage to say the next words, "give me the drawing back! Please," his courage vanished as quickly as it came.

"Daniel, I think you should just let this go," she told him before turning her gaze away, swinging her leg back and forth as she remained comfortable on top of the tree branch.

Daniel frowned and clenched his small fists. He was getting tired of everyone not taking him seriously. Now he knew he just had to get off of this island and find his mother. He was missing his blonde mother specifically, he missed her hugs and silly jokes. He should've listened to her from day one, but now it's too late and he needs to find a way out before this continues to drag him down. "I'm leaving. I just want the drawing back and I'll leave this island. You guys don't have to worry about me anymore!"

Even though those words got Fiona's attention, she still pretended like she wasn't surprised by Daniel's outburst, "and where do you think you will go? Can you even sail a boat by yourself? Will you even be able to sneak away and take the boat without Peter catching you?"

"I don't care about Peter, he can't make me stay," Daniel said, determined. He could feel something off about the teenage boy, but everyone acted like he was their god or something, so maybe he was imagining things. But Fiona knew the real Peter, she knew he would never let any of the boys leave this island. She had tried to leave many times before and he always found her and stopped her from even leaving the shore line.

Fiona was starting to get annoyed at Daniel's attitude. Why couldn't he just go take a nap or something? "Listen kid-" before she could continue, her ears caught something, they weren't alone.

"Just give me back my drawing!" Daniel was getting more upset. He picked up another rock, gathering his courage to throw it at her, but before he had the chance, he heard noises coming from behind the bushes. Now he was getting very scared that it could be a wild animal, "F-Fiona…"

Fiona got herself in a squatting position on top of the branch while removing the bow and arrow from her back, getting prepared to attack whatever was about to come out of those bushes.

"Listen, all I'm saying is, my boat is magnificent and any lady should feel lucky to step their foot in it," a man's voice said as he pushed tall brushes aside to keep walking forward and coming face to face with a little blonde kid. "Hey, is this one we looking for?"

"W-Who are you?" Daniel asked as he took a few steps back, trying to get closer to the tree where Fiona was but without giving her away, because he knew they could use the element of surprise if things got dangerous real fast.

Regina would never think accepting the help of a young funny looking sailor would lead to this. - He was absolutely insufferable, but also the only one who accepted to take her to Neverland and apparently the only dumb one to not recognize her face, to the evil queen's, so she was, safer with him but at the same time very much annoyed at how talkative he was. He could talk about everything and nothing at the same time, and don't even get him started with his singing. – She thought he'd agree to stay back on the boat, but he insisted he had to walk the damsel through the island at night time, since it would be very dangerous for her to wander alone by herself. "Would you mind just stop talking for a few minutes, so I can focus on finding my son, I'd appreciate it," Regina said rather annoyed while pushing away the leaves that he just let go off and it hit her on the face.

That was when little Daniel and Regina's eyes met and they broke into a major smile at the sight of each other, "Miss Regina!" Daniel exclaimed in surprise and started running his way towards her arms that were wide open to wrap him up in a big hug, "Daniel! Oh my god, we were so worried about you. Are you okay? What happened to your face?" That's when she pushed him slightly away from her grip so she could inspect his facial injuries. "It's okay, miss Regina, it was just a little fight to protect you, but I was a big boy!" Now he definitely felt proud of his injuries, if it meant protecting his mother.

"Hey! Step away from the boy!" Another voice shouted and it was Fiona from the trees. The wild brunette girl recognized that face and she knew that it was definitely the Evil Queen.

"No! Fiona, it's okay! She is my mom!" Daniel said, rather excited and happy, but what he didn't realize was that the other girl wasn't going to buy any of this and in her mind her only goal was to protect Daniel from the Evil Queen.

"Hold on…Fiona?" Regina's voice almost cracked as she looked up at the trees, finding a teenage girl with dark hair and wild green eyes that were being illuminated by the moonlight, so this was her other child? The one she carried and has no memories of? She almost looks like- "Augh!"

"Mom!!" Daniel shrieked as he saw an arrow being struck into his mother's arm. The sudden attack was so brutal that it made Regina fall backwards and hold onto her arm as she groaned in pain.

"Ah! I didn't sign up for this!" The bravery of the sailor left his entire body after the attack and he kept his hands raised, not giving the other girl any chances to see him as a threat.

Fiona was also quick on her feet, she jumped off the tree, landed safely on her feet and ran towards Daniel, grabbing onto his wrist and dragging him away. "Come quick! You aren't safe, that's the Evil Queen."

"No, let me go!!" Daniel screamed and cried at the sight of his brunette mother on the ground, getting her clothes soaked with her own blood. "She is not evil! She is my mom, let me go!!" Daniel kept fighting against Fiona's grip and obviously the teenager wasn't going to waste too much time with a kid, so she hit the back of Daniel's neck, which made him pass out instantly and then swiftly picked him up to drop him over her shoulder and make a run for it.

"W-wait, n-no," Regina tried to gather all her strength to use her magic to stop the other girl from taking Henry, but her body wasn't obeying her, the pain was too great and she was bleeding out fast, she wasn't going to keep her conscious for long.

"Ah, shit. Miss! Miss!" The sailor got on his knees and started aiding Regina.

Who would've thought this encounter would go down like this? Regina knew that letting Emma go was a terrible idea, none of this would've happened if she had come with her.
