Location: Nuzleaf's home.
Well, Nuzleaf wasn't too happy with the fact that I left after he'd told me not to.
I still feel ashamed when I remember him yelling at me…in retrospect, even if the mystery Pokémon outside his house was the Beheeyem, it wouldn't have been very smart to investigate alone. I was fortunate it was only that Torchic kid.
Still, if I hadn't investigated, I wouldn't have gone to the Foreboding Forest and saved Goomy. Both him and Deerling were appreciative of my efforts.
Pancham and Shelmet were predictably stinkwads about it. They took the paper Goomy was brave enough to fetch for them and mocked his fear-ridden foot runes, then took off to show everyone else. Those two really had insecurities they needed to iron out.
Even though he'd been angry at first, Nuzleaf understood my eagerness to explore. This is all so new to me, and while it's important to follow the rules he knew there were certain things in life that I could only experience on my own. Granted, I only went to the Foreboding Forest because those two kids mentioned a Pokémon was in trouble and I couldn't turn my back on that.
I don't think I'll be doing a lot of reckless exploration like that again. Exploring the Foreboding Forest alone was pretty tough. Getting to Serene Village was much easier by comparison, if only because I had Nuzleaf helping me.
Still, I took Nuzleaf's advice to heart. I guess sometimes doing what's right doesn't always mean following the rules.
Nuzleaf admitted he's pretty laid back compared to other Pokémon, at least when it came to exploring. He preferred going his own pace and doing his own thing instead of worrying about what others wanted him to do. I can respect that. So many folks are in a rush to get somewhere, it's exhausting just watching them. They get so caught up trying to get from Point A to Point B that they forget to enjoy being in-between letters...
To Nuzleaf's credit, not a lot of parents would let their kids off the hook with a verbal warning when they broke the rules. Some would punish them by taking away a valued possession…in this case, I guess that'd be my travel journal.
Anyway, I'd better get some sleep. Nuzleaf said I start school first thing tomorrow morning.
Joy.
