So Lunalight came with even more ideas for stories.
Also, on a completely other note, I have never been around children more than years younger than me, so I have no ideas how a baby works or when they begin to learn stuff. (Yes, I am that awkward adult who acts like children are made of glass or have no idea how to interact with them and look waaay out of my comfrontzone)hapter Text
Kakashi was often alone despite his team constantly trying to include him. Ever since Naruto had been born the lone boy had slowly taken steps back from his team and Minato. Now that there was a baby, so Minato shouldn't have to waste his time on the mess of a broken child that he was. Obito and Rin were barely had time for their romance. There was no longer any place or need for Kakashi by their side, so he left before they left him. By the time, the other had realized what he had done the gap between them had grown too big to stop.
He was used to being alone but never realized that he was lonely until he met her. His neighbors were a very young couple barely a few years older than him. They had been so kind to him often inviting him over for dinner. Kakashi didn't know how to act when they asked him to become godfather to their daughter. He knew he was a lost cause when he held Sakura for the first time and she grappled his finger in her tiny hand and laughed like an angel.
But as the saying goes "bad things happen to good people". A robbery had happened while he was away, and he returned to find Sakura in the system. He may have scared the poor woman into returning the 6-month-old baby to him the very second he arrived. Paperwork would have to fill out later. He ended up forgetting to do it later.
After that Kakashi returned home and began to nest as his pack called it. While he was making everything babyproofed it occurred to him that his old home already was childproofed.
The very next day the two of them moved back into Kakashi's childhood home. Once everything was ready and Bull was keeping watch over the sleeping baby Kakashi broke down, crying over the loss of his friends and pack.
For the next year, Kakashi somehow succeeds in raising Sakura without anyone finding out about her and keeping up with work. It helped that mina- Hokage-sama had seen how tried he was and Kakashi had admitted that he was tried. It was hard work raising a baby. Some days Kakashi wondered if he had done the right thing, could he really raise a child? Then Sakura had smiled at him and he couldn't imagine his life without her.
When Sakura's first work was "Kaka-papa" he was in tears. Later that night he would cry for his friends that never got the chance to see Sakura grow.
He was so busy with Sakura, the house, his pack, and his work that it never hit him that no one knew he now had a daughter. After all, he suddenly had another person who didn't know how to dress or eat properly much less knowing how to change her own diaper.
By the time Sakura was two Kakashi took her out to the training grounds with him. He had made sure to keep to the shadow. He had a lot of enemies out there it was better to keep her out of it for as long as possible.
Yamato was the first person to meet Sakura and the boy hadn't known what to do with the toddler or how to react to Kakashi folding her hand around the handle of a kunai. Sakura had been a shy pup, not remembering to have socialized with anyone else other than Kakashi and his pack before. That shyness was put somewhat aside when Yamato made her a flower crown.
As luck would have it, Yamato knew how to keep things to himself and so did the rest of the ANBU of Konoha when they found out. That didn't stop any of them from coming to visit the small ball of sunshine much to Kakashi's ire. He didn't know what to do, now that some of the older ANBU gave him parent advice or gift for his daughter.
At least he could rest more at ease now, knowing that Sakura was under the protection of Konoha's elite shinobis. They were all also eager to become babysitters, so he didn't have to worry so much while on missions. Now he only worried about what they taught her while he was away It also seemed to work therapeutic on the scarred and hard ANBU with a load of trauma much to the happy confusion of the Yamanaka clan.
It wasn't until Sakura was two that shit hit the fan and Obito, who he hadn't seen outside of work for the past 18 months, saw them. He had yelled in surprise which caused little Sakura to cry in fear and every parent around looked at Obito in anger while Kakashi looked ready to kill.
The next day his old team showed up at his door and Kakashi could do nothing but let them in. They bang in while Kakashi was training with Sakura strapped to his chest. For a second, they just looked at one another before Kakashi panicked and ran.
By the time Kakashi had stopped running, he fell to his knees and the tears fell while his body shook. He was lost in the panic until he felt a small hand on his face and looked down at Sakura who seemed to have crawled out of the strapper and sat in front of him. Once she saw him looking at her Sakura smiled saying "love papa love" and Kakashi held her close.
It took him an embarrassingly long time to realized that Hokage-sama was there. His body went stiff when their eyes locked and Kakashi felt like a child all over again. Sakura must have felt it because she got out of his hold and stood in front of him like a shield. He began crying all over again, he couldn't remember the last time a human had loved him so unconditionally.
The blond just smiled and hugged them both tight and Kakashi didn't know what to do with himself, so he just took Sakura back into his arms.
"Why didn't you come to me with this?" Minato asked softly without any judgment in his tone. Just sadness and a little bit of hurt.
Kakashi mumbled a reply but no one could make out what he said into Minato's shoulder. This just caused the older man to tighten his hold on the boy.
Sakura was watching the blond man safely from Kakashi's arms in between the two men and had a hard time breathing, but he looked happy, so Sakura kept quiet. Kakashi moved back a bit so Sakura could breathe once more. He watched as she held out her hands for Minato, but instead of waiting to be released she touched his cheek and tried to remove his tears. Kakashi hadn't even realized that Minato was crying until then.
Later he would meet up with his old team and there would be crying and some shouting but the day would end in hugs. Sakura however wouldn't be forgiving Obito for a long time, and neither would the ANBU.
