Date: June…day 2?

Nuzleaf seemed a might agitated this morning. I tried asking him what's wrong, and he told me not to worry about it. "Adult stuff".

I won't lie, it's been eating at me since I left the house. It's...worrisome he isn't telling me things but there's plenty of things I haven't told him, so I guess I shouldn't judge. Maybe he just needs space for now...

I'm so used to writing about how boring school is, but...today's lesson was mildly interesting. At least to me, a prior human.

Every Pokemon is capable of fighting, but Fighting-types, as the name implies, dedicate their entire lives training to fight. Farfetch'd gave a lecture on the history of fighting-type Pokemon and what their previous types used to consist of before circumstances made them change over time.

It was interesting and got me thinking about what pure fighting-types like Hitmonchan or Machop might've been like. I'm surprised Pancham had fallen asleep. This stuff should've kept his attention given how he's a fighting-type. Other than the history lecture, nothing particularly noteworthy happened.

Turns out I can accept requests from Vulpix as well, and they have a mission for us to get their special item from the Cave of Training. Shouldn't be a particularly difficult mission, especially now that we can accept Sylveon as part of the team. We gave her a Special Attack Up Looplet, and headed out. Oh, but before I forget, a new shop opened up as well. Hawlucha's...school, I guess? Something about remembering moves...don't think I'll need to use his services, but good to have just in case.

So...yeah, today's expedition was real easy. I'm not being facetious, it was a dragon and fighting type dominant dungeon, and Sylveon swept the floor with those Pokémon. Seriously, we were lucky we rescued them before getting a request from here or we would've struggled a lot getting through.

Other than the stuff with Nuzleaf, today was strangely uneventful. No drama, no Pokémon crying out for help or us needing to delve head-first into territory that we get ambushed in. It's been calm. Eerily calm.

Speaking of Nuzleaf, he seemed to be in better spirits during dinner tonight. He apologized for this morning and said that when I'm older I'll understand. I...don't think he realizes that I'm much older than I appear. I tried explaining that to him, but his mind was obviously elsewhere. I don't think he heard a word I said.

Well, even if I were a kid, he should've made a better effort trying to explain. Kids understand more than adults give them credit for, but it falls to the adult to actually try explaining things in the first place. Sometimes it's easier to shirk an explanation by simply saying "wait till you're older".

Hmph. Whatever.

Straying from that troublesome topic, I noticed a theme for today - fighting-types. We had a lecture about their history during school. Hawlucha, a fighting/flying-type, opened up his shop. Vulpix needed their item fetched from the Cave of Training - a place crawling with fighting-types, and the team member we brought with us was super-effective against fighting-types.

What is it with today and fighting-types? Is this an omen of what's to come? Are we about to get a fighting-type ally, or are we about to face a really tough fight? What's the symbolism? What's the message?

Or perhaps it's all purely coincidental...

...

No good. I can't wrap my head around it, and thinking about it too much is gonna prevent me from sleeping. I guess I'll just wait and see if there was any significance.

Tomorrow's another day.
