Nuzleaf pulled me aside before I had a chance to leave. He said that since it's been a full day since Farfetch'd went missing that he wants me to be especially careful. Kids who go missing…tend to suffer a terrible fate if they don't return within one day. Although Farfetch'd is not a child, Nuzleaf is worried whoever took him was aiming to kidnap a child since it's the school they targeted. He stated it could be the Beheeyem trying to snag me at night while most of the villagers are asleep.
Therefore, he's going to block the house entrance before we sleep for the time being, and he said the other parents in the village have agreed to do the same. It could be nothing, but they'd rather be safe than sorry.
Blue fire? Invisible forces dragging people? This seriously doesn't sound like the work of the Beheeyem. They were pretty direct with their attacks, not sneaky and mysterious. And if it was me they were after, they'd come straight for me instead of terrifying Watchog or kidnapping Farfetch'd.
Still, I told Nuzleaf I understood and promised him I'd be extra careful. He tried saying I shouldn't go out until this blows over, but not carrying on like everything's normal would draw attention to us and the others might think we had a hand in it if we start acting weird. For now, it was best if I carried out my daily expeditions with Lyra until things calmed down. Surely, they'll find Farfetch'd and everything will be fine.
To put his mind further at ease, I'll be with Lyra the whole day and we won't let the other out of our sights. This way both him and Carracosta can be sure both their children will come home safe and sound. For extra good measure, we'll bring Salamence or Dragonite with us on our expedition. Nobody would dare mess with a giant dragon guarding two kids.
Nuzleaf thought that was a fantastic idea and thanked me for understanding his worries. Before I left, he announced a sleepover at Carracosta's in a few nights as thanks for answering his questions. He wanted it to be a night where we share stories, eat loads of unhealthy foods (apparently there's some special Pokémon equivalent to junk food he'd been hoarding for this very occasion) and stay up unusually late playing this world's version of card games.
Me specifically? He wants me to share more human customs that I can remember, no matter how amusingly bizarre they find them. Carracosta wants ideas for themed dinners, Nuzleaf wants me to teach him how to carve a flute of wood (what makes him think I know how to carve one? closest thing I might make is a whistle…), and no doubt Lyra wants to hear any exciting exploits that I can recall. They all want me to share any stories I can about the human world. I don't know how much information I can provide…but I'll try, I guess.
A story-telling junk food-consuming game night at Carracosta's with Lyra, him, myself, and Nuzleaf? How exciting! A sleepover would certainly scare off any would-be kidnappers since we'd all be clustered in a group, but I guess he needs more time to get the supplies ready. Until he informs me otherwise, I'm to keep this a secret from Lyra. Carracosta wants it to be a surprise for her since she's been working so hard lately.
Well, yet another reason to be super careful while on our expeditions!

Mr. Farfetch'd has been found! He woke and seemed…perfectly fine. He couldn't recall much about what happened other than being held someplace dark for a while and being surrounded by ghostly blue flames…which, of course, unnerved everyone. Principal Simipour was nearby and calmed things a bit by saying the important thing was having our teacher back and completely unharmed. For the time being, it was advised that nobody go near the school at night.
Lyra and Goomy were trembling from hearing what Farfetch'd experienced. Of course, the moron child Pancham decided to mock them once the adults left.
Y'know what? I had enough. Instead of keeping my anger bottled up, I unleashed it.
I told him it's ironic he's mocking Lyra for her weakness considering he hasn't shown a lick of bravery or strength since my arrival. First day of being here, he chickened out of going into the Foreboding Forest after Goomy. Then he sent us in to retrieve red stones from Gabite's territory instead of facing the treasure-collector himself. He then cast doubt on me when I said Budew might be in trouble at Nectar Meadow and hadn't lifted a paw to help when I was proven correct and the child was in danger. In fact, any time there's danger, Pancham is seen high-tailing it in the other direction. Yet he has the gall to mock Lyra for her weakness? At least Lyra puts in the effort to help out despite her flaws and weaknesses. Pancham is all bark and no bite.
He really didn't like that. He glared at me but didn't bite out a comeback before storming off with Shelmet, who just silently watched. Deerling wasn't impressed, but Goomy and Lyra were happy I stood up for them. Deerling said I was being part of the problem by provoking him, but I told her I didn't care. Somebody had to tell that bratty punk off. He had no right trashing Lyra and Goomy for having a weakness.
I know it's just a petty insecurity on his part, but it becomes my problem when it starts hurting others. And it's come awful close to hurting others beyond repair…
Fuck Pancham. Fuck the fact he's a kid, he's a cowardly whelp. He needed to be put in his place.
Deerling said that it's our summer vacation and we shouldn't let Pancham's antics keep us from having a good time. Lyra agreed and seemed to be in better spirits as we prepared for our daily expeditions.
So long as we lay low and not do anything stupid, this whole ghost business should pass over in a few days. All we had to do was not go to the school at night, right?
Simple.

The expedition went pretty well today – We brought back a lot of useful supplies!
After I came home, Nuzleaf said Carracosta informed him of Farfetch'd's safe return. Although he said he's relieved, he looked…perturbed. I don't blame him, but it's not often I see him like that. Normally he acts indifferent or laid back, but he genuinely looked unsettled. I asked him if he thought this was the work of the Beheeyem, but he said no – they had lights on their hands, not flames. The lights would've made it impossible to keep Farfetch'd in the dark without giving away who they were.
This was something else. Something with its own motivation, and something that was kidnapping folks in the dead of night.
He told me that in addition to the school he wants me to steer clear of Farfetch'd and Watchog for now. The longer he thought about it, the more he figured they weren't taken and just let go without anything done to them, and whatever is different he didn't want me to be the one to discover it. I wonder what differences he's referring to…but I agreed nonetheless. Not like I really wanna find that stuff out for myself.
I won't lie, this whole situation is worrisome. Odd for me to say considering it has everyone else straight-up terrified, but I think it's just worrisome. Ghost Pokémon are a thing that exist and are widely accepted as part of this society, right? You wouldn't think something like this would be hard to investigate. Then again, I can't recall seeing ghost Pokémon hanging out in Serene Village. It's possible ghost Pokémon are an anomaly for a village as small as this one. Maybe this isn't even the work of ghost Pokémon.
Whatever this is, I can only hope it doesn't end horribly or tragically. I'm not sure if even Lyra can see an upside to this situation.
