Some villagers were talking about mysterious Pokémon hanging around the edge of the village for the past few days. They were staring intensely at Budew, so it seemed like they were searching for a child. They were described as having big heads and lights flashing from their fingertips...

Beheeyem!

Oh jeez, I hadn't anticipated they'd find me this quickly!

Lyra is as calm as ever, but...but I...

Hoo, okay. Calm down. Deep breaths. I can't panic. Panic is bad. Panic will lead to making stupid choices and irrational behavior. Panic will draw unnecessary attention to me and land me in hot water before the Beheeyem have a chance to reveal themselves.

I should tell Lyra about them. With my human past being a terrible thing to have revealed, I had no doubt revealing the Beheeyem would be worse. However, Nuzleaf didn't need to know we discussed it. Lyra...well, she's not only my best friend, but the one I travel with the most. She deserved to know what kind of danger I unintentionally put her in.

I'll talk to her after our expedition is done for the day, but for now I...

No. Leaving the village for an expedition is a terrible idea. If it really is them, they might attack me the second I stepped out. Lyra was fine with us sending out our second team consisting of Petilil, Emolga and Victini for today's expedition while we spend the day organizing our inventory. I decided I'll talk to her about this after the team returns. I could talk to her about it as we're sorting, but...it's...it was too soon. I wasn't ready yet. I needed to mentally practice what I was gonna say.

Arceus, I really don't want to do this...

Well, the expedition went as normal as could be. The team came back, turned in the items they found, and bid us adieu.

I talked to Lyra about leaving the village. She was crushed at first, but then cheered right on up because she was thinking about leaving the village anyway. She said it'd be smarter of us to stay together in case the Beheeyem do attack so we could fight them together as opposed to me on my own. She was so excited she rushed off to talk to her Pops about it right away.

She's so headstrong...

Fight them...together? But Nuzleaf said they might be the ones turning folks to stone. If that's the case, wouldn't it be bad if we traveled together? We'd both get targeted, right? I don't wanna put her in danger.

Ah, but this is Lyra. She said she was planning on leaving the village anyway, so no matter how much I insisted on traveling alone, she'd accompany me anyway. Besides, maybe we would fare better together. From the sounds of it, Pokemon turned to stone were alone. Maybe the culprit doesn't attack groups.

Well, I figured I had to talk to Nuzleaf about it if she was gonna talk to Carracosta. If anyone would be understanding, it'd be Nuzleaf. He was the one who suggested we get out there and see the world. There's no way he wouldn't be behind me on this!

Or so I thought.

Turns out Nuzleaf was completely opposed to the idea. He said it wasn't like the Beheeyem had found me already, and there was no way of telling if it actually was the Beheeyem from rumors alone. So, I should just stay put in the village.

But...I know what I heard. What Raticate and Roselia described…they may not have said outright, "It's the Beheeyem," but they certainly described them to the letter. What other Pokémon could they be describing?

I thought he'd be more panicked about this situation. Even if it wasn't the Beheeyem, wouldn't it be smarter to leave just to be safe? I mean, he theorized that they were the ones turning folks to stone. We should talk to the sheriffs about it, at least. If some suspicious folks are lurking near the village, shouldn't they be notified?

Nuzleaf said no, there was no need to get the sheriffs involved over a rumor. He understood why I was panicking, but there really wasn't any need. He'd been doing some investigating of his own, and there's been no sign of the Beheeyem near the village.

Bullshit. I know what I heard. They're here, and it's only a matter of time before they find me. Why won't he believe me?

I mean, Nuzleaf's technically not...well, no, he is. He's my legal guardian in this world that I'm apparently a kid in, so I can't legally just get up and walk out...can I? Would he be allowed to stop me? Is that how it works in this world? Or if he stopped me and brought me back, would that be kidnapping? I mean, Lyra and I did sneak out one night-

No.

I swore I wouldn't do that again. Even if he isn't technically my father, he's the closest thing I've got to one in this world. I promised him I wouldn't put him through that again.

But I can't stay either...ugh, what a mess. My mind is all jumbled and I can't make a clear-headed decision, so I decided to sleep on it. Not like I can leave now anyway, I gotta wait to hear back from Lyra.

I have no clue what I'm gonna do...
