Man, Lyra had to tackle me really hard to wake me up this morning, and afterwards she used the entirety of her body weight to push me out of my hay bed. Guess I shouldn't have stayed up so late writing last night. Felt like my legs were made of iron.
I was still half-asleep when we joined the others. The Nexus was uh...still very destroyed. I didn't hear the entirety of the conversation, but next thing I knew Ampharos was giving me a big duffle bag with a Pokeball design on the circular ends and a few other items I didn't pay attention to.
He then tasked us with waking Jirachi on the floor above us. Doesn't sound too bad. Maybe if we can't wake him, I'll have an excuse to fall asleep and I can claim Jirachi put a spell on me to scare Lyra away.
Ah, but today's our first official day as Expedition Society members. I can't let Lyra down like that, and this is our first mission. Tired or not, I have to give it my all.
Least it's an easy mission.

Well, I'm a damn fool. Course our first mission wouldn't be easy. Nothing ever is!
Jirachi started attacking us...in his sleep! He said he has a habit of "rolling around" in his sleep, but I don't think using your moveset against those trying to wake you qualifies as rolling around – I think it qualifies as trying to ward off your living alarm clocks.
Ah...but at least that intense fight woke me up. Can't be a sleepy lollygagger when I'm stuffing a Tiny Reviver Seed in my knocked-out friend's mouth. Maybe Jirachi could see I was tired and decided to engage us to wake me up?
Well anyway, Jirachi introduced himself to us as the Expedition Society's astronomer. He watches the movements of the sun and stars, and putting that strange introductory fight aside, he seems alright. Hate to see how strong he is in a serious fight if that's how strong he is semi-conscious.
Turns out Ampharos wanted Jirachi to repair the Nexus, and the little guy said he'd have it up and running by tomorrow. He said it's only a "little broken", but...the whole thing was reduced to a smoking greenish-blue stick jutting out from the middle. How is that a "little" broken?
Bah, whatever. Ampharos said we were to continue the same type of work we did in Serene Village – using our Connection Orb to locate Pokémon in trouble and venture out on expeditions to help.
Lyra seems really excited, and I could use an easygoing day. Haven't felt this tired since the morning following Carracosta's night-long lecture, so I'm grateful to have familiar work to start with.
Off to town to retrieve a Reviver Seed before we head out.
Location: Home, Bedroom (night)
We decided to bring Salamence with us today for a fight against Pansear and an escort mission with Vaporeon. It went smoothly. Gained a few items, and Vaporeon was able to pull his weight against Pansear.
While we were waiting for dinner, Mawile saw me reading one of my past entries. I guess she asked Lyra about it cuz she told me later, and Mawile said she's always wanted to publish her own archeology textbook. Archen chipped in, saying it's pretty cool that I write in my travel journal every day. Lyra agreed, saying that I'm really cool and mysterious, and she suggested that he, along with the others, keep a journal of their own. You never know when you might want to look back on your own retelling of your previous adventures and recall the feelings and thoughts you had at the time.
Ahaha...guys, I was standing right there. No need to talk about me when you could always try talking to me...well, whatever. Socializing is stressful, so Lyra doing it for me gives me one less thing to worry about.
I won't lie, I look back on some entries more than others and lament how far I've come since those blissfully innocent days. Heh, Pancham's childish schemes really got under my skin.
My days in Serene Village weren't that long ago but reading back on those entries make it feel so long. On the other hand, reading those entries makes it feel like I never left home either. Comes in handy when I miss Nuzleaf or my old classmates. I know we were eager to leave, but now that we're out here on our own...it feels a little sad. Lyra's here with me, but I still feel a little...I dunno. Lost? Alone? Homesick? I wonder if this feeling's just part of growing up.
Come to think of it, Lyra and I left before we could earn that sleepover Nuzleaf cancelled. I mean, Lyra and I live together now so we have sleepovers every night, but it's not the same as what Nuzleaf originally planned. That makes me feel sad...
Lyra wanted to ask Bunnelby about a rumor Deerling mentioned years ago about rabbit Pokémon having lucky feet, but once she comes back, I'm gonna mention the sleepover thing to her. Maybe we can do a thing to make up for that. Maybe that thing can involve some of the others so it's not just us awkwardly camping out in a room besides our bedroom like a couple of idiots.
Honestly, a fun sleepover thing would help us feel more at home in this unfamiliar place and help us get to know the Expedition Society members better...even if the others find it a little childish.
Well, whatever. If they decide not to join us, it's their loss. I'll update once Lyra returns and we talk about it.
Location: 1st floor Main Room (just gonna call it 1st Main from now on, just know it's on the 1st floor and it's the giant room in the middle)
Lyra thought it was a fantastic idea and rushed off immediately to tell the others. Ahaha, did NOT anticipate discussing this idea tonight and I'm still a little tired from turning in late last night...but oh well. Dragged myself out here to discuss it with the others.
Everyone was a lot more enthused about the idea than I thought they'd be. Jirachi and Archen wanted to have the sleepover on the roof so we could camp out under the stars, but Ampharos said we might get loud and disturb the town Pokémon, so we decided to have it on the top floor in Jirachi's observatory. Dedenne doesn't live in this building along with the rest of us, but we invited her all the same – she's part of the Society too.
We decided everyone has to bring a special form of Pokémon junk food or drink to share (except Swirlix since she can't be trusted with food – she's bringing cutlery and dishware) and we agreed that everyone should bring a special item that means a lot to them and they need to tell an interesting story behind it. The item and food/drink item we're bringing has to be kept secret – we can't share what we're bringing with each other.
Well, my special item is already receiving my footprint runes, but I wonder what interesting story I should share about it. I have so many...it's hard to choose just one! Plus, Lyra probably predicted I'd choose my travel journal. I wonder what she'd choose? Her scarf perhaps? And a Pokémon junk food or drink? What would...I have no idea what to do about that! The sleepover with Lyra, Carracosta and Nuzleaf was supposed to provide answers, but we never had the chance to have it! I can't ask Lyra since that'd spoil what I'm gonna bring. Maybe I can ask around town to get some ideas, or maybe I can ask an Evergreens ally while we're exploring.
Still, this is pretty exciting! What a way to get to know the Society members! We're holding the sleepover on the night of the...whatever moon, I wasn't paying attention. Lyra told me the gist of it and...July 5th. It'd fall on the night of July 5th.
Eeee, I won't lie, I'm way more excited than I thought I'd be. When I arrived yesterday, I had a feeling that these were just goofy Pokémon who were overhyped, and that the Society isn't what it's cracked up to be. The fight with Jirachi this morning was pretty tough, but it didn't give us a lot to go on as far as everyone else's abilities. I'm still not sure what to think about them...
Hopefully, this sleepover will help clear the air.
