A/N: OK so I'm just going to say a few things to say before the story. One is, again, thank you guys so much for the support of the story so far. Especially Duelist196. Thank you guy/gal, for the thoughts and positivity on the story, and especially the headcanons. I got to admit that there are a few headcanons DID pop up into my mind when making some of the chapters. Such as chapter four. Some of those ideas actually did come in when I'm writing it. But my mind usually changes depending on how the situation goes in the story.
I'm not saying that headcanon-ing is bad, in fact I liked it. It just shows how enthusiastic that person is about the story, and I'm flattered by it. But once again, I haven't really planned on what the ending or the direction the story would be, though I do have a general idea of what would it be, but that could change
On how the story is.
But over-all, thanks again for the support that you have shown to the story, and the rest. As well.
The second is Ethan's first Blacklight weapon.
I was contemplating on which weapon would I introduce first in the fanfic, but I just couldn't figure out which. So I decided to let you guys in on a vote. The weapons that would be introduced in the future will be on your hands.
Here is the weapons;
Blade arm:
Claws:
Biomass shield:
Or Own creation( My own creation):
Ok so that is it for the author's note. And again, I can't thank you guys enough for the love and support you guys gave to the story. So without further interruptions, ON TO THE STORY!
Third POV
The Village of Shadows.
A once prosperous village that was safe and filled with life and joy. Villagers' would walk freely, while children sang and ran along the streets. The light touch of the soft, gentle beauty of snowfall rains into the houses, igniting the chimneys and oil lanterns in the houses. Giving out a warm, comforting embrace that anybody would welcome with open arms.
But now the houses were empty, alone...
Abandoned….
The warm and gentle atmosphere is now replaced by the cold, harsh winds of the winter, the dark shades of the clouds covering the entire village, while the sense of blood and death littered throughout every nook and cranny that they went.
She can only wonder why it happened.
Why had Mother Miranda abandoned them? She was the sole protector of the village. Their god, their guardian. But once the monster appeared. They pray for their safety as they hope that she would hear their call for protection, for comfort -for sanctuary….
But it never came.
The monster had torn through their way into the village, like a pack of wolves surrounding an incapable and vulnerable lamb. The villagers' screams and shouts of terror and fear ring through night and day, while the prayers for their saviour fall into death's ear.
Elena had never felt so helpless before in her life. Her friends, her mother, her entire village. She felt so powerless….so vulnerable, so weak. She can do NOTHING as she sees her beloved village turned into a glorified slaughter house.
"Elena, come." Elena turned and saw her father checking the surrounding areas carefully. Machete on his hand along with an old LEMI handgun on his hip. Her father, Leonardo Lupu, was the only surviving family member that she had. She carefully, and fearfully came towards him as he looked through the window with caution.
"I think we're safe." Leonardo said, turning towards his daughter and handing over the handgun. Elena looks at him a few moments before realization kicks in.
"Father, I-I can't- I don't know how to use it." Elena declined, gently pushing back her father's elderly hand. But Leonardo pushed back, while giving her a stern, but caring, look. Elena knew that her father was worried for her ever since the first day that this whole mess had started.
She never was fond of firearms. Hell, what woman in the village wouldn't? Elena would usually just do chores around the house, alongside her other siblings. Have a good stroll around the village, read several books, have conversation with her friends and maybe possibly ask someone nice out.
(A/N: Ok, so, I just wanted to point out that, if any of you guys are women that are reading this and you were offended by it, I deeply apologize for it. I wasn't trying to make this part sound sexist, and I was trying to stick with the theme that this village has a very, very old look in the world compared to the modern era. I hope you can understand what I'm going for here and again, I am so sorry again if you guys felt offended by this.)
But that doesn't mean that she hadn't held one before. Her father used to teach her when she was young before the entire thing went to hell. But she never liked it, unlike her brother.
So, reluctantly, she grabs the handgun with shaking hands, making Leonardo nod as he looks around the area.
"It's clear." Leonardo said as he opened the door. They hurriedly moved through the village and onto the village. Being cautious around every corner of the building.
It didn't take long for them to reach a small clearing with three passageways and a well in the center. The father and daughter duo huff and puff as they look around the area for any more immediate danger.
"Father-" Elena started, but was quickly shut off by a sudden, yet all-too familiar roar. The chill went up onto her spine, as her blood ran cold as she turned around to the source of the noise.
'Elena, go inside!" Leonardo said as he held his machete in hand. Elena didn't think twice as she went to her father's back, hand wrapped tightly around the LEMI, and went into the houses with her father following suit.
As they waited, the noise grew closer and louder in each passing second. Both Leonardo and Elena waited in the house, looking outside cautiously as they waited for the beast to come out. Suddenly, the walls of the house across the streets exploded in impact. Followed by a frightening roar and howls. But there is something that both father and daughter never expected.
"FUCK!"
EARLIER WITH ETHAN
*BANG!*
*BANG!*
*BANG!*
The ear-splitting noise of the handgun firing bullets echoed throughout the Lycan-infested area. Several growls and pained howls followed up the sound as Ethan grits his teeth as he is now in one of the corners of the house that he was in. Back against the wall, pistol on hand, and is now behind a make-shift barricade that is made out of two bookshelves.
*BANG!*
*BANG!*
Ethan fired two more rounds before he quickly reloaded his gun. He saw another Lycan fall on the ground dead, seeing more Lycan tried to reach out through the wood, making him growl before kicking the arms whenever they got too close.
"Dammit! I'm down to my last mag, and yet they still keep coming!" Ethan frantically thought, before quickly firing one that went on top. Ethan was thankful for the fact the roof was a bit smaller than the rest of the house, since it gives him an advantage that the Lycans' won't be getting through from above.
But that doesn't mean that things won't be getting better.
Ever since he got ambushed, the horde isn't thinning out the way he was hoping for. Whenever he had dispatched two-to-four Lycans, several more took their place. Forcing Ethan to more bullets and even his knife on some occasions.
He gritted his teeth in frustration and desperation as his sky-blue eyes stared back at the dark, wild yellow ones of the Lycans.
Ethan knows that he doesn't have enough to continue to hold off the Lycans any further. At this rate the house would be flooded by them and he doesn't have much of an escape route for him to go to and he will die.
"There's gotta be another way for me to get out of here. Think, Ethan, think." Ethan thought to himself, shooting a Lycan through the eye socket. It's cries and whimpers of pain echoed through inside, before the Lycan fell down to the floor. Dead.
"Come on, come on, come on…" Ethan muttered, looking anywhere in the house as he searched for a solution. He was down to his last mag, and now he is in an impossible situation.
He racked his brain for any solutions. Anything that can get him out of this mess and away from the Lycans.
Then it hit him. He shifted his gaze back into his handgun. Well, more importantly, his hands.
Ethan couldn't help but give a sneer of disgust and hate as he saw several small tendrils of biomass come out. The wave of self-loathed, anger, disgust, and fear had washed over him like a plague. He knew that he didn't want ANYTHING to do with Mercer or the Blacklight virus. Just the very thought of it sent shivers down his spine. Whether from anger, fear, or disgust, it could all be three at the same time.
But still...He turned his back to the Lycans, hearing their growl of hunger while their eyes peered through the crevices of the shelves. His rapidly decreasing ammunition and defence are falling apart like a card house. The growls and howls of the monsters' on the other side increased, while the feeling of urgency and panic started to consume his entire being.
Ethan knew that if he didn't figure something out soon, then he would be dog food.
Ultimately, he had to make a choice.
"I hope I don't regret this." Ethan growled on his breath, placing his pistol back into the holster, and taking out his knife. The Lycans saw this, and immediately started to act a lot more aggressively. Tearing down the cabinet as Ethan prepares himself.
He focuses on the horde, seeing they're starting to tear down the pathetic little barricade that he had set up. Closing his eyes, he calmed himself down, trying to push down the wretched feelings as much as he can, on what he is about to do, while his biomass started acting around him.
Huh. He guesses it didn't take that long to get it started.
Pretty soon, the Lycan manages to get through the barricade, claws lashed out, and teeth ready to tear flesh from the bone.
Only for Ethan to dodge it by the last second and then grab it, and throw it back at the pack with tremendous strength. The Lycan's body sore through the air, crashing to it's fellow pack-mates with a sickening thud.
The entire area was frozen. The Lycan that were about to attack, halted their steps as they felt something change within their prey. Ethan looked to his left, and immediately charged against the unsuspecting Lycan. Sending a strong kick to the abdomen, making the Lycan feel its internal organs burst within contact as it went flying to the other Lycans. Ethan then went ahead and started his assault.
He went towards the group of Lycans, easily dismantling them with brand new strength and speed. He slices open the throat of one, before kicking the body away to make more room. He saw one attempt to claw him, but ducks underneath, before delivering a devastating uppercut. Which ended up the Lycan's head exploding on impact. Ethan started to basically carve his way out from the house, with his new found abilities. Killing every single Lycan and opportunity that he got. Soon, the Lycan started to retaliate back, with their ferocity and savagery. Quickly out-numbering him to ten to one.
But Ethan didn't care, nor was he afraid.
As the Lycans started to come closer, Ethan quickly drew his pistol and aimed it to the head of the monster. Four had fallen dead on the floor, while one tried to claw his face. Ethan ducks underneath, and uses his knife to stab the head. Ethan lets out a short scream in pain as a Lycan manages to claw his back, before Ethan violently kicks the stomach and kneeing the face. Erupting the cranium as his biomass started to consume the body.
He looked around and saw more of them coming in. He then went back to the lycan from earlier and an idea got to him. So pulling his knife off from the dead Lycan's head, he dodges another attack, and sends a slice to the throat before pulling a Kratos; picking the body up and using it as a battering ram.
All of the Lycan that were unlucky enough to be in the line of sight were quickly run over (Literally) as Ethan just charged his way out of the house. Throwing the body away to the nearby group when he was outside.
Soon, Ethan took a look around and saw that it was covered from head to toe with Lycan's. His chest was heaving a bit, as he was trying to comprehend the new sensation that he just felt. Ethan had never felt so….alive. If that is the right way to put it. A new rush of sensation went through him unlike anything he had felt before. It was like he was injected with several doses of steroids that were meant for an elephant. His eyes-sight was sharper, his senses were better, and his strength and energy were off the roof by just that one moment alone. Not even his time in the Bakers' got him this hype up in such a small fraction of a second.
"Woah…" Ethan breathes out as he regains his barring after the little adrenaline spike. He looked and saw several of the Lycans growled at him in anger. But as he looked he could tell that there was worrisome, caution, and even fear in some of the pack. Ethan looked back and saw that the Lycan's were being cautious towards him. He saw them growl at him, before he looked around for a clearing.
He saw a small opening, before dashing to it. His feet caved into the ground as he basically dash through the Lycans. The roar and howls followed as the Lycans went after Ethan.
The blonde man ran through the village passageways with incredible speed, running through the ground while a horde of Lycans were after him. Ethan looked behind him, and saw a couple of Lycans popping out from the rooftops. But none of which were from the area that surrounded him. He turned back and saw that he was about to hit a dead end. He was about to stop on his tracks, but something in him told him otherwise. So without much to think, he ran faster, his biomass coming in and out on his legs before letting out a jump. Ethan let out a cry of surprise as he basically flew through the air. Literally Leaping over the houses below and flailing his arms around, feeling the sight of houses and the height that he manages to get in such a short time. He continues to be up in the air for a few moments, before landing on top of an unsuspecting Lycan. Shattering the spine in half, the internal organs exploded, ribs caved in, while the ground caved in on impact.
Ethan got up hurriedly, expecting to feel his legs broken, but to his surprise and relief, they weren't.
He looked around and saw that none of the Lycans were there, but Ethan knew better than to let his guard down. He looked down at the dead Lycan, griminacing as he nearly felt sorry for the thing, being crushed by whatever force that it had the unfortunate luck on finding out. So, he was about to leave, until he noticed that the Lycan dissolved into crystal. This confuses him as he knows, or at least what the media present it as, that Lycans or werewolves in general don't dissolve into crystals.
Ethan wonders before spotting something on the small rubble of shards. He bends down, hands into the shards, and he then pulls out the object.
It was a skull. A Skull covered in crystals to be exact.
Ethan just stared at it, not seeing the point on why the Lycan would leave this behind. But before he could fathom any further, he heard a growl causing him to give a sigh and turned around.
Once he did, he was immediately tackled down the ground by another, and more heavily armed, Lycan. Ethan cried in pain, before kicking it off of him. He looked and saw that this Lycan was different. A lot different.
The Lycan was a bit taller than the rest that he had seen before. Heavily clade with a very crude outfit that appeared to be bullet proof armour. A jagged metal mask, along with two large metal guards that had three long blades attached to the arms. The beast swings It's bladed arms rapidly, while giving a roar.
"Here we go, again." Ethan muttered, before charging at the armoured Lycan. He stuck low, dodging a swing of one of It's blades, delivering a nice punch to the armoured chest. The metal caved in, as Ethan barely felt the pain when he first made contact. But unlike the others, this one just growls, before roaring.
Back to The Present
So that's how it brings us back to where we are now. After that little encounter, Ethan and the armoured Lycan had fought through the area, with Ethan managing to deal significant damage, thanks to the Blacklight. Which also adds to his ire.
Ethan had managed to get rid of the protected kevlar-like chestplate and the helmet of the armoured Lycan. But he found out that it only angered the beast, before swinging It's bladed arms with speed that took Ethan off guard. It managed to get a few strikes to Ethan's torso, knocking him away, and tackling him to the ground. But Ethan was resilient as fuck, managing to get backed up in each strike and did a few moves that he learned by Chris, before he did his own tackle. Driving his knife to the chest and pushing the armoured Lycan through several houses.
Ethan groans in pain as he struggles to pin the monster at bay, before striking the head with his fist. The armoured Lycan roared in pain, before using it's raw power to get Ethan off of It.
"Father, what is it?" Elena muttered to Leonardo. The man looked through the window of the house and his eyes went wide as he saw Ethan and the armoured Lycan going at it. Ethan dodged a strike before slicing the leg.
Elena didn't hear a response as she then looked in for herself. So just like her father, her eyes widened in shock. The man was fighting one of the Lycans' that she had never seen before. The man was dressed in clothing she had never seen before, nor the person wearing it.
"An Outsider?" Elena thought as she felt worried for the man's safety in the fight.
"We need to help him." Leonardo suddenly grabs his daughter's wrist, preventing her from going outside of their hiding spot.
"No! We stay here, Elena." Leonardo said in a harsh whisper.
"He's going to die out there, father!" Elena said with panic in her tone.
"He's an outsider. It will only lead to nothing but trouble." Leonardo said as they turned their backs to Ethan and the armoured Lycan. Ethan shouts of pain ring through as they see the Lycan hand It's foot on top of the chest of the foreigner.
Elena stood there, frozen as she looked at the pained face of the blonde. The way his face contorted in pain and the glare he gave to the armoured Lycan. Elena was about to go outside, knowing that a man had died and they didn't do anything to help him.
That was until they say Ethan gave a roar, using his strength to get the foot off and kicking the other leg. The beast went down with a roar before Ethan got up and hit the face four times. Then they saw him grab the beast, picking it up and slamming it into the house. Both Elena and Leonardo were speechless by the amount of strength that the man showed, before they saw Ethan do it again but this time the beast's back hit the well. Breaking the stone structure, before Etha strikes It's chest with his knife. The beast roars again in pain and tries to slice Ethan, but the blonde just hits the jaw, before seeing a broken wooden post with a pointed tip on the other side of the area. So with that in mind, Ethan picks up the armoured Lycan, and rapidly runs towards the direction of the post, slamming the armoured Lycan's body through the post.
The Lycan's roars and howls of pain and agony echoed throughout the area, rattling the eardrums of the three and alerting several Lycans near the area as well as the ones chasing Ethan earlier.
Ethan took a step back as the beast's heavy armoured arms flail wildly, It's stomach organs protruding out as did the wooden tip of the post. The normal grey fur is now stained dark red -near black even- blood, while the beast's roars of anger, pain and panic started to lower down, and the wild, and untamed movements became limp.
Both Elena and Leonardo were struck in shock, amazement, and in disbelief. Never in their lives have they seen people- let alone an Outsider- had killed any Lycans with that capacity. The amount of strength that he showed despite the man's size, the amount of ferocity that the monster had shown, but the man remained unfazed and proceeded to take the fight head on.
Then suddenly, the man's head snaps towards their general direction when Elena accidentally knocks over a can. The man's handgun were in his hands as his eyes looked at them. Elena immediately came to the conclusion that they were one of the monsters in the village, and he expected another attack to come.
Given how he fought the Lycan, and the way his eyes look frantic, but steady, Elena couldn't blame him.
There were too many times that she had let her guard down, thinking that she was safe.
But seeing that Ethan wasn't going to calm down after the fight, Elena had to do something.
"Elena-" Leonardo said as he saw his daughter went out of the house, hands in front, and she heard her voice.
"Please, don't hurt us." Elena said as she came out.
Ethan stared at shock as a feminine voice followed by a figure came out from the house. The woman had her hands in front of her, signifying that she didn't mean any harm. She was wearing a worn out long skirt, brown long-sleeve sweater, dark brown boots, and a scarf (A/N: I have no idea what that thing is around her neck.).
Ethan lowered his gun, feeling relieved that he saw another, living human being in the village. Elena saw this and walked towards him slowly, feeling a bit nervous seeing that it was an Outsider and if he was good or not.
"Woah. Hey it's ok, I'm not going to hurt you." Ethan said calmly and cautiously as he placed his hands in the surrender position. But then his mind went to the dead armoured Lycan and wondered did she see him fight it? More importantly, did she see him using the Blacklight virus?
Ethan hopes that wasn't the case. He hopes that isn't the case
"Elena-don't you dare." Leonardo said as he looked at his daughter strictly. But Elena ignored her father and went closer to Ethan, with caution.
"Ummm...uh...are you one of the villagers?" Ethan awkwardly said and went closer. Elena nodded slowly.
"Y-yes. My name is Elena Lupu. Um…" Elena introduces herself, feeling her father's concerned glare at her, before shifting her gaze back at the blonde foreigner.
"Ethan. Ethan Winters." Ethan said back, before lowering his hands. "I-I thought the entire village was full of people when I first saw it, but I thought that there aren't any humans living here since I uhhhh…. bumped into a few of them." Ethan motioned to the dead armoured Lycan. This action made Elena look from him and to the Lycan, still feeling amazed and shocked that he managed to kill it with only a knife.
"What happened to this place? Where are the rest?" Ethan questioned Elena. Elena only gave him a look of sadness, anger, and loss in her eyes followed by silence. It didn't take Ethan long for him to realize that she had lost some people that were close to her.
"Elena!" Ethan turned to look like an elderly man, wearing brown pants, a green sweater, and had a machete on hand, while a LEMI pistol on the other. Ethan was about to put his hands up, but several distant roars and howls echoed through the village. He both saw Leonardo and Elena stood frozen in fear and panic as Ethan let out a curse.
"Shit." Ethan said before looking at the two. "Is there anywhere in this place that is safe for us to use? Anything that isn't infested by those werewolves?"
"Y-yes! Luiza's house. We heard that there are others who took refuge there. It's the only safe place in the village " Elena said, making Ethan nod and were about to run but her father stops her and sends a glare to Ethan.
"We can't bring him there, Elena. " Leonardo said, making Elena look at him in disbelief.
"What? Father, we can't just let him be!" Elena said, not believing what her father said.
"Outsiders are a bad omen to the village, Elena! Bringing one with us -especially with those monsters out there- would give us nothing but trouble!" Leonardo said, hoping for his daughter to see the reason.
"He will die if we leave him with those monsters! " Elena said as she faced her father.
"He will be fine on his own! You see what he did to one of them, he can find his own way to escape them." Leonardo said, making Ethan want to give him a piece of his mind, until Leonardo went in and held his daughter carefully.
"I can't lose you as well, Elena." Leonardo saw with a heavy tone as he looked at his daughter with soft and fear-filled eyes. This action was enough to make Ethan look at him for a second, quickly finding out Leonardo's intention.
It wasn't the fact that he wanted Ethan gone (well, maybe partially), but he wanted to keep his daughter safe. With all the hell that these two have been through for god-knows how long, with the Lycan, with the deaths in their village….and their loved ones. Ethan could understand why Leonardo is on edge.
They heard more howls and roars, causing them to look back before Ethan looked at the father and daughter duo.
"Look, Outsider or not, we can't stand here and argue. At any minute now this entire area would be crawling to the brim with those things. So we need to get to that safe house, fast." Ethan said with a stern voice as he looked at Elena and Leonardo. Elena nodded, fearfully if I may add, before looking at her father. The old man gave a visible displeasure towards Ethan, but He knew that he was right.
"Fine. But you stay behind us." Leonardo said, which is enough for the blonde. Soon all three made a sprint towards Luiza's house.
A/N: So that is it for this chapter everyone! I hope you guys like it and that little continuation of Ethan's predicament in the last chapter, and a little scene of Elena and Leonardo.
So I would end things here with a little side note: What would the future shipping be in the fanfic?
Ok, hear me out. I know that it's a bit too early for shipping at this time, especially that this was just the beginning, but I have been reading other RE: Village fanfics and most of those involve shipping. And...uhh...That kinda makes me want to do my own ship, but I just couldn't figure out what or who.
I like those Alcina/Ethan fanfic, especially Bela/Ethan fanfics. (Which is also thanks to 'Bound By the Sins of The Past', written by Hellraptor. Which I HIGHLY and ABSOLUTELY recommend you guys read. It's on one of the best RE: Village fanfics out there- in my opinion of course- and I'm HOOKED on it.) and even Donna/Ethan.
But I was thinking about maybe shipping Elena with Ethan. Cause one: Elena is a good character in such a short amount of time, and I thought that she would be Ethan's new waifu, or at least a companion before she died. Second: Is that I haven't seen a shipping fic about them and I just thought maybe I should give it a shot.
But again, we'll just have to see how things would go down, and I will think of the shipping later if the chapter calls for it.
But any who, if you guys have anything to say about the chapter, or have criticism of it, then feel free to do so and throw in some criticism if you guys like as long as it is straight to the point, honest, and NOT OFFENSIVE in any shape or form.
That is all. PEACE!
