Chapter 58
As the kiss broke, Frank reappeared at the table. "Okay um, you're not gonna believe this one, but um, chief Wolfe just quit.
"Congratulations." The two women said in unison.
After a few minutes of talking with Frank about Rafe and Frank's new position at SPD, Olivia excused herself to call the movers. As she was waiting on hold, Doris flew into the restaurant. "Olivia, I've been looking all over for you." She said in a rush.
"What? What? Is everything okay?"
"Uh, no, well, I told Ashley the truth, about me."
"Oh my…"
"Yeah."
"How'd it go?"
"Good. I guess, I don't know. It went okay, but she didn't say much and then she just walked away and I haven't heard from her since. What do I do?"
"Uh, I, I don't, you know what you, give her time."
"Time."
"Yeah."
"Okay. I'm just gonna go to my office and wait.'
"Okay."
"Okay." Doris left and Olivia returned to her call.
"Yeah I'm here…Yeah." After finalizing the arrangements with movers, she went to rejoin her girlfriend.
Rafe and Ashley were sitting enjoying lunch in the gazebo at the park. Rafe folded up the paper from his sandwich and looked off into the distance. "Can you believe Olivia got me out of the army."
"No."
"I swear she has connections everywhere."
"Yeah. Olivia can do just about anything. It's one of the things I admire about her."
"She's not as bad as I thought I guess. I still don't really like her." Wanting a change in subject her looked up at her. "You know we're in trouble right?"
"Why is that?"
"Cause we're gonna have to add another member to our little club."
"What club is that?"
"The uh, my mom is gay and I just found out about it club."
Ashley laughed in earnest. "Oh really. I guess we need to come up with a secret handshake. You know we really, we really should set up our moms."
"Um, my mom already has somebody that she likes…Olivia."
"Olivia. Wow. Does Olivia like her back?"
"Oh yeah. That's why we have to add a new member…Emma."
"Oh, Olivia, I mean that works, they seem like they'd be a great couple."
"Oh, shut up."
Olivia walked back to the table where Blake had joined the group. She placed a knee on the booth and a hand on Natalia's shoulder. "Okay. I got a truck for this afternoon unless you think that's too soon."
"No. The sooner the better."
Blake turned her attention to the ladies. "Ooo, for what?"
"Uh, Olivia and Emma are moving back into the farmhouse with me." Natalia answered.
"Oh, that's wonderful you two."
"Thank you. We think so." Natalia's smile was a mile wide as she reached for Olivia's hand on her shoulder.
"Oh my gosh so, you're moving, have you even packed."
"Oh no. No, no, the packing, that's the easy part. First, we have to tell Emma." She was pretty sure Emma would be excited, given their recent conversation, but she was still a little apprehensive about telling her they were moving again, and that she and Natalia were back together.
Rafe and Ashley were enjoying each other's company, joking, and laughing together when Daisy found them. "Hey guys. Am I interrupting something?"
Ashley faced her. "Oh no, we were just talking about my mom. She's a lesbian."
"What?"
"Yeah, she just told me."
Daisy just starred at her in disbelief.
Rafe raised his hand. "No seriously, my mom too."
Daisy laughed it off. "Oh yeah my mom too."
"No, no, no, no." Was all Ashley could say.
"We just found out about it a couple days ago, it's very, very serious." Rafe offered.
Ashley finally found her voice. "I found out yesterday. I haven't really talked to her since."
"Sorry wait. Uh, you haven't talked to her since then?" Daisy queried.
"No. Well she told me and I didn't know what to say, so I just kind of, ran off."
"Are you upset that she's gay?"
"No, no, I don't care about that. It's just that she's been keeping this big secret from me for all these years."
"Okay but, you know, she probably thinks, you know, cause you haven't spoken to her, she probably feels pretty terrible right now."
"I didn't even think of that." She said, looking at Rafe.
"Don't ask me." He responded.
"Okay, yeah, I guess I should talk to her."
"Yeah. You should probably go clear that up." Daisy agreed.
"Okay, I'll go now." Ashley left and Daisy sat in her spot next to Rafe.
Olivia had Jane drop Emma off at her suite so she and Natalia could talk to her. The two women sat in chairs across from the bed with Emma sitting on the edge of the bed swinging her legs. "So, what'd you wanna talk to me about?"
Olivia looked at Natalia and then back to Emma. "Well, uh, we have some good news. At least, we think it's good news, and I hope you like it."
"So, what is it?"
"Well, I have invited you, and your mommy, to come back to the farmhouse and live there." Natalia started.
Olivia picked up the conversation. "And I said yes. So, we're gonna go back and live with Natalia."
"Do I get my old bedroom back?"
Natalia smiled wide at her. "Yes, of course you get your old bedroom back."
"That is good news."
Olivia took Natalia's hand. "There's more. Um, when we move back in, Natalia and I are gonna be together again. Cause we love each other, very much. She's gonna be your mommy again too."
"She never stopped being my mommy."
Natalia had to fight back her tears. "That's how I feel about it. And I love being your mommy."
"So, if your my mommy, does that mean that Rafe is my big brother again?"
"Yeah." Olivia smiled out. "That's exactly what that means."
Emma jumped off the bed and launched herself into Natalia's arms. Natalia squeezed her tight as she and Olivia shared a smile over the top of her head.
The three went straight to work packing so they could have everything ready to load when the truck arrived. They were finishing with a few boxes when a knocked sounded at the door. Emma leaped off the bed and answered the door. Excited to see Rafe standing there with Bake and Frank behind him. "We're moving."
"Ahh. I know dude." He smiled at the little girl "That's why we came here to help you guys."
Natalia was pleasantly surprised, having no idea that Olivia and Rafe had been speaking other than his job offer, he was last person she expected to help them move. "You did?"
"Yes ma'am. I mean, I couldn't let you wimpy girls carry all these boxes yourselves."
Blake piped up. "Actually, I came to see if Olivia had any clothes she was giving away."
"Oh no, if she's going to be giving away any clothes I'm gonna get them." Natalia answered before Olivia could.
"Babe you'd be swimming in them. They're over there." She pointed to a pile on the chair.
Natalia half smirked at her and Blake was quick to scoop up the clothes. "Ooo. Yeah. Thanks." She said.
Olivia stroked Natalia's hair as a way of apologizing for not letting her have them. She would buy Natalia a new wardrobe if she wanted. There wasn't much she wouldn't do for her.
Frank cleared his throat. "I uh noticed the moving truck so I figured that ah you ladies, you know you ladies needed some help so, anyway. What can I do to help?"
Olivia scratched her forehead, a little confused but thankful for the help. "Any of the boxes, that'd be great."
Rafe and Frank both grabbed a box and headed down to the truck. "Thank you Rafe." Olivia said honestly.
"You're welcome."
Emma grabbed a bag to carry and Blake followed her out with the clothes to drop off at her room. Natalia and Olivia were left alone for a moment. Natalia turned her attention to Olivia. "Well see, with all this help you will be moved in in no time."
"It's your last chance to change your mind."
"Never." Natalia pulled Olivia into her arms and kissed her with fever. Sliding her tongue along her bottom lip, asking for entrance. Olivia complied, parting her lips and allowing the kiss to deepen. Olivia's arms wrapped around Natalia's waist, holding her impossibly close while Natalia's fingers threaded through silk strands. The two allowed themselves to get lost in the kiss. Legs scissored together as moans escaped from both their mouths. The two finally pulled apart gasping for breath, their foreheads pressed together.
Still breathless, Olivia gently pushed Natalia back. "We uh, we need to stop before we scar our children."
Natalia nodded, still catching her breath. While the group of helpers were loading boxes, Olivia ran to the mini mart for tape. Walking to check out with packing tape in hand, Olivia looked up to a happy surprise. Her nephew, Johnathan, was standing before her, making himself a cup of coffee. "When did you get here? What are you doing here?"
"Um, getting a cup of coffee. What are you doing here?"
"Stop it." She took the milk from his hand and moved in for a hug. "Give me some love. My hot little mess."
He wrapped his arms around her. "Oh, auntie O."
"When did you get back?" she asked, pulling out of the hug.
"Well, when I heard that Jeffery died I came to check on Reva, but uh, I decided to stop running, I'm gonna stay."
"You're gonna stay? In Springfield? Really?"
"Yeah. I'm gonna cause some trouble in your sleepy little town."
"Alright."
"What are you up to?"
"I'm getting some tape for some boxes. I'm moving in with my girlfriend, Natalia."
"Ooo."
"Yeah. She bought Cassie's old place. You know, the farmhouse."
"Yeah. Cool."
"Yeah. Yeah. Well, I'd better go, the movers are waiting, but, you're gonna call me right?"
"Sure. Yeah."
"Kay." She kissed him goodbye and went back to finish taping boxes and drive out to the farmhouse.
When they arrived, Olivia stood by the porch, directing people as they carried boxes into the house.
Frank came walking up the path with a box in hand. Emma walking beside him. "Alright, alright, alright."
"That's Emma's room. First room on the left" Olivia directed.
"Be careful, those are my toys." Emma added.
"Natalia's room." Olivia told Blake. "Living room." Was the box Daisy was carrying? Rafe had one for the bathroom. As people continued to carry boxes in, Doris walked up with Ashley. "Hey."
"Hey. Need some extra hands?"
"Sure. Ashley, there are a couple of boxes in the truck if you wanna grab one."
"Sure, I'll get em." Doris thanked her and she walked off to get a box.
Olivia looked to her friend. "Looks like you found her."
"Well actually she found me. I think this whole telling the truth thing, is uh, probably the best thing that's ever happened to us."
"Good for you."
Natalia walked out the door, carrying a tray of drinks. "Alright, lemonade break, five minutes, then back to work."
"Alright, looks like I came at the right time." Doris said.
After a quick break, the gang quickly finished unloading and met up on the porch. "Wow. Was that all the boxes?" Olivia asked.
"Yeah I think so." Ashley offered.
"Well, um yeah. I just put the last one up in Emma's room, and I didn't break anything." Frank joked. Smiling at Emma.
Emma raised both her hands in the air. "Yay. We live here again."
"What now?" Doris asked. Putting an arm around her daughter.
"Well, um, I'd really like to make you all dinner and thank you so much for helping out." Natalia answered.
"Oh, that's sweet. But that will probably take a while. What are we gonna do in the meantime?" Asked Daisy.
Rafe came out of the house with a ball and a mitt. "Well, uh, I don't know if I have enough mitts but uh, we could probably play a quick game."
"Actually, I know where we could get some more mitts in about two seconds." Frank offered. Walking to the trunk of his car.
Doris looked at the group. "Hey uh, I was captain of my high school softball team." Everyone laughed. "Hey, we took state."
Frank jogged back over. "Alright."
"Frank is back and you pick first sir." Rafe proclaimed.
"Alright well, I really wanna win this game so I'm gonna go with Emma.
The two men continued to pick their teams. Frank with Emma, Blake, and Daisy. Rafe chose Ashley, Doris, and on the last pick he looked at the two remaining women. "Sorry mama, Olivia, you're over here."
Natalia stepped towards them. "Okay well what about me?"
"Honey you can't play, you've gotta cook." Blake answered for the group.
"I can play for a few minutes."
"Teams are uneven that's not fair." Rafe said.
At that moment Josh came walking up. "Hey guys."
"Ooo. I get Josh. Teams are even that's it." Rafe was quick to shout. "In you faces." He said jokingly at the other team.
They were all having fun playing a friendly game. After a few innings, Daisy ran off the field as she saw James approach. "Hey. Uh, what, what happened?"
"They made it. Everything's gonna be okay."
The game halted as everyone waited to see how Phillip and Alan were.
"James how'd it go." Josh asked once Daisy hugged him.
"They're good. They made it."
"Daddy?" Emma questioned.
"He's gonna be okay." Olivia answered happily.
"How's Alan is he okay?" Rafe added.
"He was okay the last time I saw him."
Everyone was happy for the good news. "Uh James, why don't you get in there. I can't play I'm worthless and I have to cook." Natalia offered to the young man.
"Yeah I'll play."
Everyone headed back to the yard to resume their game. Before heading for the kitchen, Natalia sauntered over to Olivia. Olivia reached a handout to her. "You did it. You made us a family."
"No. We did it." They smiled at each other and before they could seal it with a kiss, their son shouted from the yard.
"Hey Olivia, come, come."
"I gotta go help him." She said, turning from her love. "Okie dokie."
"Go on I know." Natalia replied, swatting her butt as she walked off. Taking a moment to watch her family and friends enjoying each other, Natalia smiled to herself. Feeling as if life couldn't get much better than this. She spun on her heal and went to make dinner.
It took Olivia about five minutes to find an excuse to go in the house for a minute. Excusing herself, she quietly entered the house. Walking softly too the kitchen doorway. She leaned against it and watched her love work. After a few minutes, she walked fully into the kitchen and wrapped her arms around Natalia from behind.
Natalia leaned back into the embrace. Covering Olivia's hands with her own. "Mmm, I've missed this."
Olivia kissed her neck and cheek. "Me too."
Natalia turned in the embrace. Capturing Olivia's lips in her own. "Thank you."
"For what?"
"Forgiving me. Coming home. Everything. I love you so much Olivia."
"I love you too. And we still need to talk about somethings, but not today. Okay?"
Natalia nodded and smashed their lips together again. The kiss soon turned heated. Olivia backed Natalia up until she pressed against the counter. Running her hands up and down her sides. Natalia gripped at Olivia's hips, pulling their centers together. Making them both moan. Tongues slid against each other. Olivia deepened the kiss further. Exploring Natalia's entire mouth. Running her tongue against the roof of her mouth. Natalia felt wetness pool between her legs and her knees go weak. The world seemed to narrow to just the two of them as they stood in their kitchen. Kissing as if their lives depended on it. This kiss was the renewal of their love, them recommitting to one another.
