A shrieking Bakugou is not something out of the norm; it was familiar in a sense. However, people only became concerned when blasty boy went quiet…because when a boy with an explosive temperament gets quiet all of a sudden, then that was a pretty good indicator of 'shit's about to go down'.
However…a quiet Bakugou cannot compare to a panicky Bakugou.
The irregular shifting eye movements, the shrinking of the pupils until it looked like a pinprick in a sea of red, an increased breathing rate leading to hyperventilation, the unconscious tensing and relaxing of muscles, and the uncontrollable shaking.
Huh? It seemed like they had unlocked another version of angry Bakugou –'Panicked Induced Rage Bakugou'.
The loss of his quirk was sudden and without mercy to his well-being and it was evident that he couldn't process it…at all. So he switched to his default settings with some newly added features. With the confirmation of the loss of their quirks coming from Bakugou, the realization of the travesty that had befallen them hit them like an oncoming train.
They got railed without warning and it didn't even feel good!
The panic from Bakugou spread like a particularly contagious virus as students around him dropped like flies around him, they felt hollow without their quirks –their safety blankets. The teachers struggled to gain control of the situation that had transpired; the students couldn't see past their own overwhelming terror to recognize that their agitation was making things worse.
The heroes-in-training possessing mutation quirks were not as horribly affected as the ones with emitter and transformation quirks, however, their bodies did feel heavier and their abilities seemed to be dampened quite a bit. Though most of them were part of the cry fest taking place, a few accepted their fate pretty quickly and calmed down. In the absolute chaos of the freakout, a few mutation quirked individuals, and the ones that were able to keep their heads were guided to the other side of the room –away from the danger zone.
Kayama-sensei's quirk would have been extremely useful in this situation however they could only wait out the storm. Screaming at them would only make it worse and some don't like to be touched when they felt vulnerable, so it was better to just leave them alone. It would be better to allow the students to come to terms with their lack of quirk on their own.
Standing on the other side of the room were Izuku and his friends with all their other classmates who handled the situation better. Uraraka had devolved into a hysterical mess before Izuku calmed her down, allowing them to move away from the rest of the mess that was their friends. Iida was fine, if not a bit stiffer than usual, apparently, while he kept the engines on his calves, he couldn't speed like he normally does and his legs were a bit heavier.
From Class 1-A, out of the twenty students, there were only nine in a stable frame of mind while Class 1-B had only a mere five being able to withstand the devastation of having their quirks gone or dampened significantly. They gathered around each other in an effort to try and create a faux sense of comfort that could soothe their freight. They were soon joined by a bright-haired blond boy with a comically animated face, a blue-haired girl with a small smile gracing her features, and another timid-looking boy who was cowering behind the first two.
"Hey, there firsties! Are you guys alright?"
The 'firsties' comment implied they were older than them and were in U.A which allowed them to relax quite a bit. Knowing someone older than them was concerned and looking out for them eased the apprehension in their hearts.
"My name Togata Mirio and I'm a third-year in U.A."
A scorned mumble of 'too bright' left the mouth of their resident emo, Tokoyami, which was something everyone agreed with. Just as the last word left his mouth, he was roughly shoved aside by the blue-haired teenage girl who forced her way into their personal bubble with curiosity bubbling out of her. She moved swiftly, weaved between them while poking and prodding at their bodies, humming in thoughtfulness as she went.
"Hado Nejire! A pleasure to meet you! So what are your quirks?"
'So energetic…'
She was like a battering ram with the personality of a bunny, blowing through their questions and responses with her insatiable quizzing and fidgeting hands while bouncing from one person to another in her excitement. Her interrogation was put on hold when a stuttering mess of a student introduced himself to the group. His nervous blushing and mumbling could rival Izuku's level of awkwardness which didn't really paint a good picture of the obviously shy student.
"H-H-H-Hi…my m-my n-name is T-Tamaki Amajiki…it's n-n-nice to meet y-you all."
The greeting was barely heard from where he hid behind Toogata which everyone managed to make sense of it if the nodding of heads in his direction were an indication. The somewhat positive response from the kids helped ease his nervousness and edge, slightly, away from his blond friend. A mutter of reassurance from the blond about 'imagining potatoes' brought Tamaki out of his shell a bit more, it was small but there.
"Hello, Togata-senpai! My name is Midoriya Izuku, first-year hero course student!"
The formal introduction ended with an equally formal forty-five-degree bow which was then followed by the rest of the teenagers in the group.
"Uraraka Ochaco!"
"I am Iida Tenya! I am the president of Class 1-A! It is an honor to meet our seniors from U.A!"
For some reason, this felt like the first time that Izuku heard Iida speak at all, since being transported to this place. It was jarring that the familiar formal speech and tone of their friend made them relax almost instantly. A glance at Uraraka showed that she, obviously, felt the same as her shoulders slumped from their tight upright position.
"Jirou Kyouka."
The name was given with a small twirl of her earphone jack around her index finger.
"My name is Yaoyorozu Momo and I am the vice-president of Class 1-A. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
"My name is Tokoyami Fumikage, child of the sun."
The difference in the tone from the fancy formal of Yaoyoruzu to Tokoyami's morose caused a few giggles to erupt from the group. Everyone knew what Tokoyami meant, Toogate Mirio was like a literal sun shining down at them with his beaming smile and heartfelt expression. It helped calm their worries in this situation if only a little bit.
"Ojiro Mashirao."
"I am Hagakure Tooru!"
Even though she remained invisible due to the nature of her mutation quirk, there was a faint outline of her body that could be seen, only if you squinted hard enough. Izuku could see her hand waving wildly in the air as she introduced herself, likely trying to signal where she was.
"The name's Sero Hanta!"
With their class's complete introduction of who was there, the five students from Class 1-B stepped up from behind the others to greet the third-years as well.
"Kendo Itsuka! Class 1-B president. It is nice to meet you."
The strong greeting caught everyone off-guard which shouldn't have been such a big surprise, Kendo is the big sister of class B –being able to keep everyone in check and functioning, especially Monoma. Heck, she stood up to Exceed, outright questioning their decisions, which showed that she was an amazing, iron-willed leader for the class.
Following her was a girl with dark moss green hair that reached her shoulders, and a smirk etched onto her face, "Tokage Setsuna!"
"Shiozaki Ibara…"
The girl with vines for hair held her hands in a familiar praying position as she spoke to them, her flowery soft voice seemed to flow and float around them, soothing them.
"B-Bondo K-K-Kojiro" The name was whispered softly from the student whose head was shaped somewhat like a glue-dispenser with a lappet on top. His large and muscular stature was imposing yet his personality was something akin to a 'gentle giant', as evidenced by his quiet stammering.
"Kaibara Sen." The young man of medium height with dark, shaggy hair, and dark eyes, which are rather thin and lazy-looking, said with his hands stuffed in his school uniform pockets.
Although he seemed a little bored of everything around him, the tense shoulders gave him away. He was likely feeling uncomfortable without his quirk but was trying to shrug it off.
With the introductions over, Toogata-senpai looked to Izuku with furrowed eyebrows –as if debating his next question. He wondered why the third-year wanted to speak to him of all people, he wasn't anybody special. Toogata came to a decision faster than he expected as his face was set in a grim sort of determination that did not match the animated features of his face.
"Do you know what is going on here?"
The question seemed innocent enough, like a friend asking but the look in his eyes told a different story.
'He's asking if I had anything to do with this.'
Gathering all the courage in his body, he spoke with confidence and certainty, "No. I don't."
Toogata searched his face, trying to detect whether what he spoke what a truth or a lie. When he seemed to find what he was looking for, he relaxed completely as he smiled softly at Izuku. The third-year was checking if he was a threat and was determined to protect the hero course first-years from him if he had to.
He was a hero first and foremost.
"That…being, Exceed seemed to adore you."
The statement made everyone look to him for answers which caused him to shrink into himself at the attention. It was nerve-wracking being watched so intently by his classmates, by his friends even more so.
Like he had the answers to all their questions.
"I-I don't know why she singled me out," the statement caused many to let out sighs of disappointment, "but maybe she has met the alternate versions of us."
That made everyone perk up and the implications of such thoughts brought on a whole slew of other questions pertaining to their alternate selves.
"She said that the multiverse was real…so maybe she visited those worlds and interacted with our other-selves. We are the original so maybe she wanted to see how we differ from the rest."
Toogata bit his bottom lip in worry before sending a glance over towards the 'danger zone' where they could all see the panicked students finally calming down due to their teachers' efforts. Some stared blankly at nothing at all as the feeling of hollowness consumed them while others searched their surroundings trying to distract themselves from everything.
"They didn't handle losing their quirks well." The muttered statement from Toogata was louder than he thought as Izuku and his classmates heard. They, too, were dreadfully worried for their friends and it wasn't easy seeing some of their strong classmates break down so terribly at the lack of their quirk.
But Izuku…he understood. You can't miss what you've never had, as the saying goes, but he had One For All for over a month now and he could feel an ache that wasn't there before…when he was quirkless. It must be horrible for those who've had quirks their entire lives.
"We're first-year students, unequipped for situations like these. The sudden transportation was already jarring and many of us didn't process it properly before our quirks were also taken away without warning. We are stranded in an unknown situation…without some type of weapon to keep us safe."
Izuku thought out loud as he analyzed the situation and came up with the likeliest conclusion while the third-years watched him in surprise. Thinking out loud helped him organize his flurry of thoughts that seeped out of his brain which eventually, lead to the infamous Midoriya mumbling.
"Are…so that's what they were talking about when they mentioned he talked to himself."
Kendo stated from beside Yaoyoruzu in contemplation, making her let out a small giggle at the girl's words. Before she could agree with the class B president, a quiet chuckle from behind her shoulder breezed past her ear causing her to stiffen out of freight.
"At least some things don't change…"
The voice of Exceed mused in contentment before the being darted towards Izuku with a surprising amount of speed. Just as Yaoyoruzu opened her mouth to announce Exceed's presence, they had already confronted the third-years and Izuku.
"Hello, humans! Are you having fun?"
The deadened expressions and the sudden spike in murderous intent of the students in front of them made Exceed visibly twitch with a teeny-tiny minuscule amount of fear. The information overload from Izuku justified their ire, this deity sent their friends into panic attacks because of their bruised ego.
"Is all that evil intent for little ol' me? You shouldn't have…"
Exceed stated with a nervous chuckle as the end as they fidgeted slightly in their spot.
"Okay, stop it! I know I deserve it for dropping you here and taking your quirks away without a warning. I was being petty about blasty boy and took it out on everyone." They admitted shamefully with a sweat drop while everyone stared at the being with disdain.
'What a shitty angel!'
"Ahhh please, forgive me! Plus this is a good thing…" They stated with a forced smile and a small thumb up which made the students increase the intensity of their glares.
"Ahh! You s-see, n-now you can't h-hurt each other if you get into a fight." Exceed said while poking their index fingers together with a pout of their lips.
'And now you can't hurt me!' The internal crying and panicking Exceed was unseen to the students which they were grateful for.
"Well then…even if I don't have my quirk, I can still deck you across the room."
The blunt statement came from Todoroki of all people who was standing beside Izuku with a straight and intense look plastered onto his face.
Wait.
Something was wrong with this picture.
"Ehhhhhh?!"
The collective exclamation from the entire group of hero hopefuls shocked the entire room in silence, even the danger zone. The teachers looked up from their little corner of discussion at the group with worry in their eyes which shifted to angry when they caught sight of Exceed, floating 'innocently' in front of Izuku.
"W-When did you get here, T-Todoroki-kun?"
Izuku tentatively asked in stilted shock, not knowing when he arrived because last he remembered, he had to leave Todoroki in the danger zone because he couldn't calm down.
"I saw Exceed when my head stopped spinning from the pain and immediately came to assist if you all decided a dog pile or fistfight was necessary."
Another blunt response from the half 'n half boy that threw them for a loop. Huh…who knew Todoroki was such a physical fighter?
"F-Fistfight?!"
The horrified gasp and backing away of Exceed brought their attention back to the 'all-powerful deity', who was cowering behind a pillar that appeared from…somewhere. Seriously, where are these random inanimate objects coming from?!
Suddenly, they abandoned their support buddy and took flew above everyone's head with an intense pout and offended look on their face. Exceed crossed their arms over their chest and waited for everyone to look at them then dramatically cleared their throat in preparation for another long–winded speech.
"HAHAHA! I am back!"
Well, that was off to a good start. The rioting began after the laughing; everyone was sporting some particularly demonic faces while brandishing…pick…from somewhere, demanding their quirks back. Exceed just stared at them with a smug face akin to a cat that caught the canary.
"Idiots! As if I'd give it back when you offended me so thoroughly. Blegh!"
They pulled down the skin below their left eye with the middle finger from their left hand, effectively flipping them off while sticking their tongue out in a mocking expression. Chaos erupted around the room as the students chanted like some cult for Exceed's death.
'Tokoyami would be proud.'
"Why are you being so irrational?" The question was posed by U.A's registered hobo, who stared at Exceed with a bored expression.
The being was quiet for a while before letting out a breath of disappointment, "You're right. I was being childish and I apologize for that."
The room was shocked into silence as they registered the apology; they never expected them to regret their actions. Exceed was a higher being that regarded humans as ants, organisms that you left alone but eventually crushed under your heel when they annoyed you.
"Your quirks are dangerous and I don't need you hurting each other especially when you begin watching the other universes. I was always going to remove this for the time being but…maybe I should have executed the rule a bit more gently." The well-reasoned response allowed everyone to calm down and think about their situation.
"I kind of forgot how weak and fragile you, humans, were. My apologies once again, I will remember to take it easy on you pathetic insects."
And there was the jab at their pride.
It seemed too good to be true that they'd get a straight-out apology for Exceed's actions but it was better than nothing. Izuku stepped forward to ask the important questions once more, they needed answers besides this being a cosmic 'lesson plan' and entertainment.
"We want answers. Tell us…why we are here?"
Izuku asked in a no-nonsense tone which was a great shift from his normally stuttering voice. It was powerful and carried with it strong defiance. It was the Midoriya Izuku that the villains faced, that Todoroki faced at Sports Festival, the one that proved to everyone that doubted that Izuku was a hero-in-training. He was confident and a leader where it mattered and it shone brightly, right now, as he faced a deity with a quiet fury in his eyes.
Exceed stared at him in consideration as their head tilted to the side, giving them a confused puppy look especially when their eyes widened in excitement when they found what they were searching for.
"Okay…I brought you here today because your current future is set in stone and I deviated you from that path when I brought you here. The universes you will be watching, over the course of your stay in 'The Arcade', will have clues –as to what your future will be –scattered across them. Your job is to find them, learn from your mistakes, and change yourself so you don't follow down the same path."
The explanation was somber and serious, a radical shift in a tone showing the importance of what they were saying. Izuku stared at Exeed with narrowed eyes, trying to identify niggling feeling of something being wrong when his eyebrows furrowed in thought at the overall plan.
"If you want us to change the future, what can't you just show us the future of or original timeline?"
Without knowing, Izuku asked the question that they were dying to ask. It was weird how they had to watch other universes to get the answers they need. It sounded terribly complicated and could easily be solved if they just watched the original timeline in its entirety.
"If you watched your own future verbatim, that can just lead to a looping effect."
"Looping effect?"
"It's when…someone watches their own future and then tries to change the outcome. That's where the looping effect comes in, their actions can lead to the very outcome they wanted to prevent or the universe will twist every action in favor of the future you witnessed. It will nullify your efforts to stop you from changing anything. Your universe will loop forever with no stopping if you keep trying to change things. This can lead to a closed-loop."
The explanation was daunting and expressions of horror could be seen of each of the students' faces while the teachers stared at Exceed, troubled by their words. The angelic figure was morose as they waited for the information to sink in deeply before turning, ready to vanish away from the frightened little humans.
"So you are basically bending the rules of the universe for us. This loophole that's allowing us to view parts of the future without fearing a looping effect must have taken you a while to plan out without getting caught." Izuku said with a hand cupping his chin while staring at the white figure in consideration, "Why?"
Exceed stiffened at the dreaded question as they contemplated the correct answer to give the unfairly intelligent young man, standing defiantly behind them.
"I like your universe, so you all need to survive to the end…okay?"
The surprisingly honest response made several hearts in the room melt while an intense blush spread like wildfire across the ghostly pale white skin. Exceed hunched their body in an attempt to vanish into their own skin…it was embarrassing for them!
'That's so cute!'
Several boys and girls exclaimed at the same time as they stared at the figure with adoring eyes, it was an amusing difference from the devil's eyes from before.
"Exceed, you do love us!"
The shout from Kaminari echoed across the room was followed by several other declarations of love from the students. The angelic being blushed a deeper red at the words coming from the humans; words of support and admiration were their weakness.
'Kya! This was too much!'
They spun around with flair to face the humans again, "I-Idiots! What are you s-saying?! Your pathetic l-l-love declarations mean nothing to me. I, a being of unimaginable power, would never lower myself to accept you f-f-feelings."
"You don't have to accept it, babe. Just know that even though you're genderless, we still love you!" Ashido exclaimed excitedly, blowing Exceed a big kiss with her hand.
"S-Stupidheads! You, all, are unworthy of me!"
"Ah…another tsundere," Sero commented with a shit-eating grin stretched across his face.
"Hey, Bakubro! Looks like you got some competition!" This came from Kirishima who had been beside Bakugou from the beginning, throughout the entire freak-out and subsequent conversation about their tragic future.
"HAAAHH! SHUT THE FUCK UP, SHITTY HAIR!"
Bakugou had been quiet the entire time after he had a breakdown over losing his quirk, it was weak and pathetic and it just made him angrier just thinking about it. He couldn't process or cope with the thought of being quirkless, being a weakling like Deku of all people. It was shameful and his pride could hardly stand it. He hated feeling powerless, like the little fish in a bigger pond of predators and it was all because of that shitty white witch floating above them.
A loud clap resonated throughout the theatre, making everyone instinctively flinch and go quiet. They looked up at Exceed, caution, and excitement in their eyes -they wanted to make the best of their unfortunate situation.
"Now that everyone is paying attention. We NEED to get on with the real reason why you are here today. The snippets you'll watch are randomized and will contain all the important bits you need to know. You need to pay attention to the screen for the universe to play out. You can discuss the universe with each other as well but this will cause the universe to pause briefly before starting again."
Exceed explained, once more, just in case anyone forgot the rules during their excitement. She waved her hands causing notebooks and stationery to appear while a board displaying the rules materialized on the left side of the theatre.
She motioned for everyone to grab a seat and to get comfortable for the resulting shit storm about to happen. Izuku, Yaoyorozu, and the teachers grabbed the notebooks and pencils knowing they were going to need them. Nedzu was a bit despondent that he even had to take a notebook but with High Specs functioning, he wouldn't be able to remember everything that was going to take place. The rest of the students grabbed some snacks and drinks from the tables located on either side of the room.
The students and teachers took their seats in various groups on the couches and comfy chairs littered across the room. Class 1-A and B kept to their respective classes, not knowing whether a bloodbath would occur, especially so soon after the Sports Festival. The Big Three took their seats near the front with the teachers and All Might, who was in his skinny form, surprising many students who didn't even notice them. One particular purple-haired student hid in the shadows away from the rest of the students while a pink-haired gearhead from the support department vibrated in her seat when she realized the opportunity of seeing some alternate dimension babies.
The lights around the room dimmed slightly but not enough that the students couldn't see what notes they were taking down. The talking simmered down as they waited for the universe to start playing.
For a long time, Midoriya Izuku knew he wanted to be a hero, no matter what. After seeing All Might's debut video where he rescues all those people, he just knew that he was going to be just like him.
"Aww! Midoriya, you were such a cute baby. Just look at those cheeks. So squishy!" Ashido commented while quite a handful of girls cooed at the baby Izuku on screen making him blush a bright red. Todoroki stared at his friend with scrutiny before humming to himself. 'It seems like this viewing will be comprised of universes from Midoriya's point of view.' Bakugou, on the other hand, grunted in frustration and anger –wondering why this revolved around 'shitty Deku' of all people.
He could remember that day so clearly as if etched into his brain with a hot fire poker…that dreadful day when he learns that he's never getting the gift of a quirk. Where others were born with power, he was born powerless.
"What? Born powerless? What are you talking about, dude? Your power is super manly."
The statement ended with a round of nods in agreement from everyone in the room while Aizawa stared at the screen before glancing at the boy in question with narrowed eyes. His senses were going haywire about the problem child and it didn't give him a good feeling. Izuku bit his lip in aggravation at the situation; he knew people were going to find out about his secrets, about his quirklessness and maybe even about One For All…which didn't alleviate the uncomfortable feeling settling in his chest.
'I need to talk to All Might about One For All before everyone finds out. It's not only his secrets that were going to get exposed. It was his mentor's as well.'
He was pulled from his thoughts when Uraraka grabbed his hand tightly, who stared at him questioningly.
"What are you talking about there, Deku-kun?"
"Yes, Midoriya. Is what the younger you talking about, true?" His asked with the familiar stiff hand shops through the sir.
"You'll just have to wait and see…"
"You should probably just give up."
"What an asshole! How could he say that to, Midoriya?!"
Several protests and curse words followed the exclamation from the students while the teachers frowned at the terrible bedside manner of the doctor. Yagi frowned in anger at the treatment towards his successor while Aizawa buried the bottom half of his face in his scarf, hiding the downturn of his lips. Izuku wasn't doing too hot himself, the viewing was drudging up old memories that he wanted to forget. His hand squeezed Uraraka's tightly as the mental anguish of his past pushed to the forefront of his mind. Todoroki looked at Izuku with a frown on his lips, the concerning shining in his eyes. Bakugou snarled at the words of the doctor who reaffirmed his idea that Deku was quirkless while the Bakusquad protested against the doctor's words.
The doctor was merciless in his statement, crushing Izuku's dreams just as it bloomed into existence. He explained about the existing toe-joint in his foot –how that was the main indicator that he wouldn't ever get a quirk. He was in shock for the rest of his time at the doctor's appointment as he tried to process the situation. It wasn't fair that he didn't have a quirk –a power you were supposed to be born with.
All men are not created equal.
"Aptly put Midoriya, our society that preaches equality is but an illusion. Equality is a fabrication to calm the masses from rioting and starting a social revolution. Society may promote the idea but they don't follow it very well and many people are condemned for the differences they are born with. It's similar to the pre-quirk prejudices that dictated society like race, gender, and social standing. Now that attention just shifted to quirks being the main factor in determining your standing society." Nedzu explained thoroughly.
"Every society will have some kind of inequality no matter how much you change," Yaoyoruzu mused, "But it is terribly unfortunate that you learned that at such a young age Midoriya. I, myself, only learned such partisanship in regards to quirks until I was much older."
"For mutant quirks, there's a lot of prejudice tied to it and society isn't particularly fond of people with such physical differences." Kamakiri from class B stated; who had an obvious mutation by the pale yellow-green skin and two hooked blades that jutted out from either of his cheeks. He looked remarkably like an insect with mandibles.
He had asked his mother if he could still be a hero even though he possessed no quirk but she crumbled into herself, crying with apologies falling from her lips as if she was at fault for him lacking a quirk. His best friend, Kacchan, didn't take too kindly to his apparent weakness and deemed him useless.
A Deku.
"Really Bakugou…" Ashido sighed in disappointment while Kirishima looked at him with sadness and disillusionment.
Uraraka frowned at the blond-haired boy for his disgusting behavior and Izuku's dislike of his nickname.
"De-Midoriya-kun, should I stop calling you Deku?" She asked hesitantly which caused Izuku to splutter about and flail his arms around.
"N-N-No, it's fine, you changed the meaning of that name for me, and so it's okay. I'm Deku, the hero who can do it."
But Izuku still stood against him, he fought to protect others even if it ended with him getting beat up. He still wanted to be a hero even if he didn't have a quirk because anyone can be a hero –at least that's what All Might said. What he lacked in quirk, he made up with his determination and he knew if he tried hard enough then he would make it. His dream only ended if he gave up.
"You go, Midoriya! Keep dreaming and don't give up! You can do it!"
Kaminari's encouragement, prompted several shouts of positivity and words of praise at the on-screen Izuku making him blush and let out a beaming smile.
'Ah…what did I do to earn such praise? It's nice.'
Todoroki glanced away from the grinning boy who appeared to be unused to the positive attention he was getting. He answered the green-haired boy's unvoiced question to himself, 'Midoriya deserved all the encouragement because he's a good hero, even if he sacrificed himself a bit too much'.
When he turned seven, he was effectively isolated from his peers –turns out people would rather follow Kacchan or stay out of his way rather than be friends with Izuku. He was lonely but he had his notebooks and hero watching and his mom, so he was okay with being lonely.
"Fucking hell Bakugou, why the hell did you do that?"
The young man in question grunted as an answer but didn't respond otherwise while Yagi looked towards Izuku, not taking kindly to the young man's obvious loneliness being displayed.
Although on this particular day, there was a new student joining their class. She was kind of small with blond hair and golden eyes with a big smile on her face. She was pretty and Izuku knew she would instantly be friends with everyone in the class, even if her quirk was minor. She joined the rest of the kids in the front of the class, cheerfully talking with everyone with big hand movements and various amount of exuberant expressions.
At this part, Izuku let go of Uraraka's hand and started jotting down the unfamiliar girl's description, knowing he didn't meet her in elementary school. The others around him took notice and frowned at the girl's appearance, knowing that this was a divergence in the timeline.
"What the fuck? There wasn't anyone like that in our class."
The shout from Bakugou elicited a response from Mineta who mused, "You sure you were about to see past your own ego and notice a new student in your class. You might have missed her." The taunt provoked his other friends to make fun of his over-inflated ego.
"I mean, how you could have missed her is the real question. She looked like she would have been a hot babe when she grew up." The caress comment from a drooling Mineta killed the amusement.
Tsuyu's tongue appeared like a goddess of vengeance and smacked his head straight into the ground. The girls around him from classes A and B glared at him in abhorrence before nodding at Tsuyu, who was seated with the Dekusquad in the front, in thanks.
Izuku turned back to his notebook and started to color in the picture of Endeavor with red crayon which was basically everywhere. The body was disproportionate with the arms being too long almost reaching his knees and his legs being too short which made them look stubby. Basically, he looked like an ape that caught on fire. But the picture was good enough for Izuku because he drew it and Endeavor was kind of mean so he deserved it.
The amused snort came from Todoroki, the normally stoic ice prince from Class 1-A, surprising the mass of students. Aizawa snorted with him at the drawing and at the thoughts of Izuku, while Hizashi outright laughed. Even Yagi let out a coughing laugh with was ninety percent blood.
All too soon, it was the end of the school day and while the others kids played 'Heroes and Villains' with their friends, he sat underneath a tree with his notebook. It was peaceful and with Kacchan being distracted by the new girl and finding out her quirk, he had a bit of reprieve from him.
"You jinxed it, Deku-kun." Uraraka lamented with a sad sigh.
As quick as the thought came, it vanished when a shadow blocked the glare of the sun streaming through the leaves of the tree. Izuku looked up and met the eyes of a particularly vicious Kacchan –why was he so angry today?
"Isn't he always angry?"
"Hey, Deku! What'ach doing you, quirkless nerd?" His ex-friend's red eyes gleamed with malicious intent.
"N-N-Nothing Kacchan. I'm j-just writing in my hero b-book."
The word 'hero' seemed to piss him off even more because his hands started smoking causing him to let out small explosions in his palms. His expressions twisted into something ugly as he swiped the book from Izuku's hands, burning the cover as he shredded the book apart in front of him.
"Dude, what the fuck? He was just writing in his notebook, alone. He wasn't doing shit to you."
Jirou snarled furiously at the blond-boy seated behind her, in the third row, which made Bakugou spew a whole list of curse words that should be banned on the basis of their vulgarity. Iida's jaw dropped open at the utter disrespect coming from the boy, and in front of multiple teachers too!
"Bakugou, that was incredibly disgusting and disrespectful. I demand you apologize to Jirou and the teacher for using such language." He scolded with a firm hand chop.
"Shut the fuck up, four-eyes! I'll do whatever I want!"
"Still trying to be a hero, huh? When is it gonna sink in that you're never gonna be a hero, you quirkless trash?! Maybe I should try beating the idea out of you again!"
"Baby bully Bakugou alert, people!"
Kaminari shouted with little fanfare before dodging the dangerous swipe from Bakugou.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!"
Monoma mused at the fact that U.A let such a despicable person into the Hero Course, in U.A, with no consequence. Kayama let out a cry of 'such anger from one so young' while Hizashi cried out for his poor listener. Aizawa frowned deeply with displeasure at Bakugou's attitude; he was a remarkably talented and intelligent student with a bright future ahead of him in regard to Heroics. But his attitude needed some serious work and he would not let this slid.
And with that came another round of fists and burns that he would have to hide from his mother once again. He won't allow her to worry about this mess when she already frets about enough with knowing about the bullying. She'd worry herself into an early grave if he told her about all of this.
Everyone winced at the bruises and burns from Bakugou. Uraraka hissed angrily at the torment her friend was facing at such a young age, by a fellow classmate no less.
"What the fuck, Bakugou?"
Gasps could be heard as one of Class 1-A's resident cinnamon rolls swore with such anger, causing many people to visibly flinch back at her righteous fury.
"Did you get bored of fucking bully all the other kids that you decided to pick on Deku-kun again for no other reason than existing?" The taunt flooded Bakugou with outrage and he responded in kind, "That shitty Deku deserved it for even attempting to become a hero with no power. He's a fucking useless nerd who couldn't get it into his thick head that he couldn't be a hero. Just a useless bystander. Tch."
Izuku flinched violently at the blond boy's words, making Todoroki frown and reach for his free hand on the other side of him. He held it firmly in support before looking away with a small blush on his face. He didn't know what he was doing but his mother told him it was a form of comfort.
Eventually, Kacchan left, after he got bored that is and as he lied on the ground with parts of his clothes smoking from the burns, he wondered why he was trying to be a hero again.
"Hey! That's a villain's quirk. You suck blood like some vampire and you think you can be a hero. What a joke!"
"Now, that's just rude."
"Well, kids are terrible at that age in their life," Mirio admitted with a frown at their taunts, remembering the teasing from his childhood about his quirk.
Another student by the name of Shinsou Hitoshi flinched at the comment 'villain', also remembering his own experiences with prejudices on quirks.
The shouts increased in volume, persecuting another victim because of their quirk or lack thereof, which made him turn his head in the direction of the noise. There, he saw the new girl, crying on the grounds as everyone surrounded her, pointing fingers and calling her a villain. It was a quirkiest cult made up of seven-year-olds.
"Revelry in the dark. Cults at such a young age…"
"Not now Tokoyami." This came from the ever quiet Shoji.
That was why he wanted to be a hero. He wanted to save people with a smile. He wanted them to know that he was there and they could count on him.
Wow.
That was the collective thought of all the hero-course students; he had such a noble goal from such a young age. It was inspiring and showed just why Izuku would make such an amazing hero. Yagi smiled brightly at his kid with happiness, he knew that this boy made an awesome successor. Aizawa grinned that terrifying grin of his at Izuku's thoughts, he knew that problem child of his had potential.
Slowly he got up while casually running his fingers through the dirt surrounding him. He cupped a few stones into his palm as he carefully approached the group and when he was within throwing distance –he aimed the stones at the group and chucked them one after the other. The startled shrieks from the girls and the pain from the stones were enough to scare them off before he drew blood. When the all cleared out, he stumbled slightly towards the girl and held out a hand towards him. With the best smile on his face, he greeted her for the first time.
"What the heck, Midoriya?! That was so manly! Saving that girl like a knight in shining armor!"
Kirishima shouted in joy and vigor which was soon supported by Tetsutetsu's yell of 'Manly' as the two bros complimented on Midoriya's overall manliness.
"Are you okay?"
"Kyaa! That's so cute!"
Ashido cooed with Tokage from class B causing Izuku to turn crimson at the teenage girls' actions when he remembered something.
"But I didn't do this." He admitted with a small shrug and frown in the girls' direction.
"What?!" "What do you mean?!" "Did you leave her alone?!"
A cacophony of complaints raged from the crowd on students to which Izuku shook his head while waving his arms about.
"What I meant…was that I don't do that because…that girl didn't transfer into my elementary school. I don't remember her at all."
Nedzu shot his head in the direction of Izuku with lighting fast reflexes, "You mean that meeting this girl caused the change in this timeline."
"Most likely because I don't know anyone like this."
Nedzu hummed in thought before writing something down which got Izuku thinking as well. The girl was important if what Exceed said about the clues to the future was true. But who was she? She must be his age if she was put in his class so that makes her Izuku's age currently. She's not a hero student unless she went to any hero school that's closer to home. Like Shiketsu in the west. What if she wasn't a hero student at all? Was she a civilian that he meets in the future? Or…was she a villain he encounters later on. It didn't feel right to call the girl a villain especially after she was taunted with the word.
"Midoriya, you're mumbling."
Toga Himiko is convinced she saw an angel in front of her. The light streaming from the afternoon sun gave him a heavenly glow and the bright smile on his face seemed to chase all her worries away. The hand in front of her was inviting, promising her a lifelong friend and partner in this green-haired boy.
"Angel? Lifelong partner? Ohhh…Midoriya, am I seeing a romance brewing?"
Ashido teased with a smirk gracing her pink face while Tokage shouted across the room, "Hey, greenie! Nice job starting early in the dating department!"
The response was for Izuku to quickly shake his hands in front of him in denial. Yagi coughed up blood at that, mumbling about 'how the ladies only flocked to him after his debut'. Mineta cursed Midoriya's awkward charm and wondered at how he managed to pull in some many girls when he was such a mess most of the time.
The rest of the teachers, besides Kayama –who was bursting with joy at the youthfulness of children, noted down the girl's name, knowing it was important. Aizawa glowered at the name written in his notebook, it was so familiar to him but he couldn't remember the details. It involved a series of murder cases that were recently popping up in one area. Maybe she was one of the victims but he couldn't be sure.
She gladly took it with little fanfare and she instantly knew she had made the best decision of her life. It was better than what she received from those other girls in her class, especially that blond boy who shunned her for her quirk. She loved her quirk even with all the bloody bits. She could transform into those people she liked, in order to be closer to them and that feeling was amazing, to say the least.
"Hey Himiko-chan, what your quirk?" One of the girls from class asked her curiously.
"At least she loved that part of herself and didn't shun it away," Shinshou murmured quietly to himself.
Himiko loved talking and using her quirk, her parents allowed her to use it on them when she was at home so it should be fine with her friends at school too.
"My quirk is called Transform. When I consume someone's blood, I'll be able to transform into them."
"Huh? That's a really powerful quirk if used properly." Kendo stated.
"Now I can see why people were upset. Any quirks relating to blood are highly stigmatized and most of the older generation frowned upon them. The prejudice carried on for years and it seems to have infected this generation as well." Kan explained to the students, which was supported by Nedzu.
Vlad King had a blood quirk of his own that wasn't very popular with people when he was younger. It also made it extremely difficult to rise up in the hero ranks with a quirk like his.
She was proud of her quirk and she would declare it out loud for everyone to hear but when she looked at her friend's face, she didn't look as happy as Himiko felt.
"Ehh? You have to drink someone's blood like a vampire to use your quirk. That's gross!"
The girl exclaimed as she pushed Himiko away with a frown which caused the happy grin on her face to drop. Her quirk was awesome, it wasn't gross at all. Asumi didn't know what she was talking about and she'd confront her about it at the end of the day.
"Oh no…"
However, it seemed that she was confronted by Asumi instead with a group of girls calling her a villain for her quirk. She cried and pleaded that her quirk wasn't villainous and she could be a hero with it which only made the circle of girls angrier. They surrounded her with taunts and accusations when suddenly a series of yelps and shrieks erupted from the girls making them run away in fright.
A shadow blocked the sunlight and a hand slowly entered her field of vision, offering her help and from that day she knew this person would be a hero.
"See, Deku…you're a hero even without a quirk."
The admission from both the girls, the one on-screen and the one beside him, made tears well up in his eyes, that was what he always dreamed of as a kid. He was going to be a hero and save people with a smile. And he got to do just that with Toga.
After that day, Izuku and Himiko became friends and were joined at the hip, the two outcasts of the class and what a pair they made. The villain kid and the quirkless trash that was tossed aside by the rest of society found comfort in each other. It wasn't the most jarring friendship if you paid attention, Izuku was lonely, he was easy to get along with and didn't judge people prematurely, but most importantly he loved quirks. While Himiko had an amazing ability to befriend lots of people, they only stayed if she conformed to their ways of thinking. With the pair it was easy, Izuku loved her quirk just as much as she did and didn't judge her while she never looked down on him for being quirkless.
"Ah, the quality of friendship."
"Oui, il est très beau."
Translation: Aoyama proceeded to say that 'Yes, it is very beautiful'.
The pair stayed friends throughout elementary school until Himiko's parents decided to move when they were ten. The onslaught of tears and protests went on for days until the day of the move when they decided they would see each other again at U.A where they would train together to be heroes. With a heartfelt and teary goodbye, Toga Himiko left Midoriya Izuku until the day they could meet again.
"Hey, that means she tried to become a hero," Awase commented happily.
"But she's not at U.A so that means she failed the exam and didn't get in, she went to another hero school or she decided against becoming a hero." Kaibara shot down the idea with a lazy shrug of his shoulders.
Suddenly, there was a change of scenery with a black-cloaked figure moving from the shadows towards a small black-haired boy.
"Not good man…"
The viewpoint shifted, once again, to a clearing situated in a forest-type area. Mineta, Iida, Koda, and Izuku could be seen backing up behind two members of the rescue group, Wild Wild Pussycats, Tiger, and Mandalay.
"Woah, Woah…that was a dramatic change of pace. What the fuck, man?" Testutetsu stated in shock.
The teachers straightened their postures that the change of scene, it was another villain attack…maybe by the League. Several students in U.A bemoaned their fate at being attacked by villains while the class B students looked awkwardly at them. They had made fun of them because of this before the Sports Festival. It was eye-opening seeing that amount of danger happening in front of them.
"Why…? Why are the villains here?!" Mineta uttered.
"Oh no…not again!" MIneta whined with hugging a conveniently placed pillow to his chest.
"Pixie-Bob!" Izuku exclaimed as he began to run towards her when Tiger stopped her.
The hero named, Pixie-Bob, was lying unconscious, with blood pooling from a head wound, under a large heavy magnet being held by a woman with quite a wide, muscular build. She had shoulder-length and reddish magenta-colored hair, and her rather square jaw covered thinly with facial hair.
"Oh no!" Mandalay whispered from beside Tiger at the situation they were facing. They were ambushed by villains and already one of their own was taken out.
Izuku suddenly gasped and exclaimed loudly, "Kota!"
"Okay, pause. We need to unpack what's happening here." Sero stated seriously before looking in the direction of the teachers.
Aizawa narrowed his eyes at the scene and the villain that was there. Where was he? Why wasn't he there for his students? Nedzu shook him out of his depressing thoughts with a shake of his knee with his paw. Hizashi, Kayama, and Yagi stared at him with grim expressions which he mirrored.
"This hasn't happened yet so we can change it when the time comes." Aizawa tone, staring at all the students.
"Hmm…it would seem that this attack was pre-meditated and not the students being there at the wrong time. The Wild Wild Pussycats are there fighting on the frontline even though they are rescue heroes at their core."
"Principal Nedzu, do we have a trip planned in the near future?" Izuku asked seriously while staring at the principal.
The principal hummed thoughtfully, "A training camp happens every year after the internships. The locations of the trips are always closely guarded secrets to prevent some villains from getting any smart ideas and would have been more so protected due to your precarious situation with the league." Nedzu announced causing many students to shift with unease.
The screen shifted to another part of the forest where a group of teenagers was being led away, tied up in a capture scarf, by Aizawa.
Many of his students cheered in excitement knowing that their teacher was there for them. Aizawa, on the other hand, buried his face in his scarf, hiding the small smile on his lips. Hizashi grinned and cooed at his expression like the child he was.
"Aww, we wanted our courage tested, too…" Ashido whined as she, Kaminari, Sato, Sero, and Kirishima walked with Aizawa.
"Didn't she say there were a carrot and a stick? Where's the carrot?" Kirishima complained.
"I'd even take salty licorice…give us a treat, Aizawa-sensei…" Kaminari pleaded.
"Salty licorice is delicious." Their teacher objected with a bland face.
"Okay, hold up! Sensei, you can't be serious. That flavor is just…urgh!" Ashido shouted with a put-out face.
Students from both classes agreed with her statement by nodding their heads. Aizawa pouted slightly, which was thankfully hidden away, before staring at Ashido with a hard expression.
"A five-page essay about the history of salty licorice from Ashido and everyone who agreed with her after this viewing is over."
A series of 'awing' and 'what the hell sensei' could be heard from the students which Aizawa promptly ignored.
"Sensei can be so petty sometimes," Ashido muttered quietly to herself.
"What was that, Ashido?"
"Nothing, sensei!"
'Geez, does he have super hearing too?'
Aizawa explained that the goofball group's lesson that night would be 'how to behave during an emergency. He told them that if they didn't become more self-aware that they were falling behind others then the difference between classmates would grow larger.
"In a broad sense, this is also a kind of treat. Like a mint-flavored one."
"This is why I hate everything mint-flavored."
"But mint tastes good…" Kirishima sighed.
The classroom door slid open revealing a gasping Monoma.
"Oh, that's weird! Even though Class A supposed to be better, there were five people who failed? Even though there was only one person from Class B? That's so weird!" Monoma laughed loudly while Kan beside him sighed in disappointment.
"Just how mentally strong are you?!" Kaminari shouted.
Class A and Kendo swiftly turned to face Monoma, who was evidently trying to shrink into himself with a pout on his lips. The class B president stared at him with disappointment and the word 'Really…' plastered onto her forehead.
As Monoma continued laughing, the five class A students took a seat behind him. Kirishima muttered all the while, "He said the same thing trying to provoke us yesterday."
"I'd like to know what his mental state is," Ashido whispered.
Meanwhile, Aizawa spoke to Kan about adding practice maneuvers to the kids' lesson, and just as he was responding they were interrupted with Mandalay's Telepath quirk.
"Everyone!"
"Oh no…here comes the danger," Kaminari muttered.
"It's Mandalay's Telepath." Kirishima pointed out.
"I like this. It makes me jump." Ashido smiled.
To which Ashido now vehemently denied by shaking her head and crossing her arms in an 'X'. She didn't like it, especially if it brought bad news.
"We're being attacked by two villains! It's possible that there are more! Everyone who can move, gets back to camp immediately! Even if you come across the enemy, retreat and do not engage!"
"Huh? Why are there villains here…?" Monoma uttered after the announcement.
"Vlad, I'm leaving this place to you. I'll go protect the other students!" Aizawa told Vlad before dashing off down the hall. 'I don't want to think about what could happen…'
When Aizawa made it outside, he stopped, looking at the blue fire and smoke around him.
"This is bad…" Aizawa gritted his teeth.
"You know this is serious when Eraserhead says the situation is bad," Tamaki whispered, shaking slightly while watching the screen.
"Is your worry taking precedence, Eraser?" A villain with severe burns and stitches appeared next to Aizawa, raising his hand as blue flames erupted from them.
"Vla-" Aizawa called out before the flames burst out, shooting out towards Aizawa.
Several students shouted in alarm and worry for their teacher. Izuku looked towards his teacher, just needing to check if he was there and not in any harm.
"Don't get in the way, pro hero. You guys aren't the ones we want." The burnt blue-eyed villain stated with a smirk rising on his lips.
"Okay, guys…I know that this guy is gonna like kill on-screen us but no homo –the dude's sexy," Kaminari commented making quite a few people's jaws drop.
"What the fuck, dude?!" Mineta exclaimed, "That burnt turkey is going to slaughter us!"
"Well…I said that I know that. But you can't deny the guy's smoking hot. Pun intended" Kaminari smirked making Kirishima groan at the horrible pun.
Aizawa watched his class with a blank look on his face as they argued about whether the villain trying to kill him was hot or not, before turning to face Kan.
"You can have them."
The resulting scream of 'WHAT!' in disbelief was ultimately ignored as everyone focused back on the screen.
Back at the clearing with Izuku and the others, the female villain held Pixie-Bob down her large magnetic pole that she brought while the lizard villain stood beside her.
"How are you this evening, U.A High School? We are the Vanguard Action Squad of the League of Villains!" The lizard guy announced.
"Everyone in the room with notebooks, write all of this down to the smallest detail. We don't know what we will miss and several copies will help us piece together everything."
Izuku and Momo got to work quickly, writing down everything on the screen from the dialogue to the appearances. Izuku even sketched the villains as a precaution if they forget anything.
"Shall I crush this girl's head? What d'you think? Well, what do you think?" The muscular villain with the pole teased.
"Like I'd let you, you-"
Just as Tiger moved forward to engage the enemy, the lizard huy stopped them, "Wait up, Big Sis Mag! Don't be hasty. You too, Tiger. Calm down. It all depends on whether having power over life and death follows Stain's tenants or not."
Iida perked up, finally, at the Hero Killer's name while several teachers frowned at the admittance. The Hero Killer was a serial killer who targeted heroes, the recent one being Ingenium, Iida Tenya's brother. He had a small following online but no one actively followed in his footsteps as far as they knew. The villain wasn't known for apprentices and no one knew his overall goal. His ideology was a bit sketchy with only theories from others but nothing solid from the actual villain so to see someone actively sticking to his ideology is worrying.
"Something big happens between the end of the Sports Festival and this villain attack."
Izuku uttered gaining everyone's attention. Nedzu narrowed his eyes at the student in consideration before allowing him to continue on his tirade.
"Explain Midoriya," Aizawa demanded, putting the poor boy on the spot.
The boy was clearly shocked at command and blushed brightly before beginning to talk once more, "Well, the Hero Killer doesn't have enough influence right now to have other people working for him. He is known for working alone and hasn't spoken to anyone regarding his beliefs, just that he kills heroes he deems are unworthy."
His explanation was loud for the entire room of people to hear, "So that means, a significant amount of influence was gained quickly after the Sports Festival."
"After the Sports Festival, the work studies start. So maybe then." Toogata stated in consideration, "You guys don't look much older than you are now, which means that this villain attack is upcoming."
That caused everyone to stiffen in freight at the implications. Iida clenched his fists at the thought of his brother and the damage the Hero Killer did.
'I will avenge my brother.'
"Stain…!" Izuku muttered with narrowed eyes.
"So you're the ones his ideology brought?" Iida gritted his teeth.
"That confirms it. His ideology must have been heard and spread somehow." Izuku nodded.
"Hey Midoriya, Iida…you guys look mighty tense for someone you've never met," Awase started, looking at them.
"Yes, you act as if you met him personally before." Honenuki nodded in agreement.
This statement caused a frown to settle on the teachers' faces, especially Aizawa's. 'Dammit to hell kid, don't tell me you tried to avenge Tensei'.
"That's right! I'm-" the lizard man paused mid cheer, pointing at Iida, "Oh yeah, you, with the glasses! You were the one who brought the end of Stain at Hosu City. I apologize for the late introductions."
Grabbing a huge sword behind his back, the villain continued, "Spinner, the one who will spin his dreams into a reality."
At that confirmation, Aizawa stood up from his seat and marched directly towards the Dekusquad with a furious look plastered on his face, it helped hide the desperation in his voice.
"Iida, please tell me that you're not thinking of avenging your brother."
Everyone looked at Iida with worry as the ramification of the utterance didn't paint a good picture of him. Iida, on the other hand, tensed at the words before looking away from his teacher. How could he lie when that was exactly what he was planning to do?
"Iida, you can't do that without a license. Your actions would equate to vigilantism and you could be expelled from U.A at best or sent to jail at worst." Aizawa explained.
Iida stood up quickly in protest against their teacher, "I will bring Stain down if it's the last thing I do, sensei. He called my brother a fake and cut him down like he was nothing! My brother is paralyzed from the waist down. He can't be a hero anymore!" Iida protested angrily drawing gasps from everyone.
"Iida, what if you had gotten hurt or worse killed." Uraraka shaking said.
"Oh dear, it seems like the students of U.A are committing criminal acts under the name of my school," Nedzu stated lazily with a dangerous gleam in his beady eyes.
"Iida, you can do that! You'll get in trouble and what if Stain kills you! He's killed pro-heroes easily, what makes you think that you could take him down on your own!" Izuku shouted in anger at his friend's casual admittance of trying to kill a known serial killer.
"Hey! Shitty four-eyes! You want to be a hero right? Then killing that fucker isn't going to make you better than him. You'll be exactly like him, a murderer except you'd be occupying his spot in jail."
Bakugou announced while Kirishima nodded at his friend's words. Aizawa stared at Iida who refused to listen to his classmates and to him before gruffly telling him to 'sit down and shut up' then moved back to his seat.
Tiger stepped forward with anger etched into his face as he explained how Pixie-Bob had started to get worried recently about marriage and how she was trying to find happiness despite her age. The lizard man countered Tiger's word by asking 'what's a hero doing trying to find happiness like an average person'. Mandalay then stepped in, saying that she broadcasted the necessary instructions and that the students need to retreat from the enemy.
"Go on ahead!" Izuku told them.
"Hey, hey…Midobro, what'ach you doing there, buddy?" Kirishima asked nervously.
"Mandalay! I know where he is!" He explained before ran off in the direction of the cliff.
The screen shifted to another location with some class B students, where purple gas surrounded the forest. Kando was trying her best not to breathe it in as she carried Kodai and Honenuki with her quirk.
"Kendo!"
Kendo turned to the sound behind her, seeing Tetsutetsu carrying Shiozaki with masks on.
The class B students tensed at the confirmation that, they too, were there with class A and were getting attacked by villains while Honenuki and Kodai apologized to their class president for slowing her down in such a way.
"It's fine guys. I just hope you're okay."
"Tetsutestu! Ibara! What's with the masks?"
"Yaoyorozu from Class A was nearby and made 'em for us!" Tetsutetsu explained.
He explained that Awase from their class was showing her the locations of Class B so they could go rescue them before showing Kendo some gas masks tied around his waist. He offered for her to take one with she did, gratefully. Then she explained that it was dangerous so they need to go back to the camp.
"Thank you." Kendo whispered to Momo, "It's fine. During times like these, we should be able to rely on one another."
"No, I'm going to fight too." Tetsutetsu shook his head which she disagreed with.
"Man, I admire your manliness so much Tetsu my bro," Kirishima said, high-fiving Tetsutetsu.
While Vlad King dropped his head into his hands with defeat, muttering about problem children infecting his class.
"You're always rebuking Monoma, but didn't you feel it in your heart somewhere? The difference between our class and Class A? I've been feeling it! We got into U.A with the same exam, studying the same curriculum. What's the difference? It's obvious! What they had we didn't…crisis! They turned their crisis into chances! It's only natural! How can a hero turn his back on wrongdoers?"
The explanation got more than a few frowns from the Class A students. They didn't ask to get attacked by villains, they had to find a way to survive and while it did help them grow, the way to that growth was unpleasant and they'd rather not experience it again.
"Do you guys actually think that?"
Izuku asked turning to face the residents of class B with knitted brows which caused some of them to shift in their seats. Monoma scoffed at the green-haired boy.
"Of course. We all got into U.A yet only class A gets the attention. We're all being trained as heroes but people are only rooting for you. We weren't recognized at all during the Sports Festival because we were overshadowed by Class 1-A and how they survived a villain attack."
"But it's not like we asked for it to happen. It just did and we had to survive. Our growth comes from the trauma of almost getting killed by dangerous villains in the first week of school." Shoji explained.
Several students from class B winced at the confession from the normally quiet boy.
The screen, once again, shifted to a cliff on a mountainside where a young boy could be seen stepping away from a masked villain in fear.
"Kota! Can you hear my Telepath? Hurry up and come back to camp! I'm sorry, I don't know where you usually go off to…I'm sorry, Kota! I can't go save you! Come back as soon as you can!" Mandalay's Telepath echoed.
"Oh shit. Is no one gonna save this kid?" Sero cursed.
"Are we gonna watch him be killed?!"
"I tried searching for a place with a nice view, and I ended up finding a face not on our list." The guy with the mask explained, "Hey, by the way, you've got a nice hat there, kid. Trade with me for this lame mask. They made me wear this toy since I'm new saying they couldn't get the shipment in time or something."
Kota started running away, screaming when the villain jumped in front of the boy, stopping his exit. Muscle fibers started appearing around his arm as he grinned, "Let me get a shot in to cheer up! Come on."
"That villain…I recognize him from the news. He killed some hero duo and escaped from the police."
Kota's eyes widened at the realization of who the villain towering in front of him was, he was the villain who killed his parents, the duo Water Hose, before fleeing from the crime scene. The boy was on the verge of tears as the bad guy raised his fist, about to bring it down on Kota when a flash of green got Kota out of the way just in time.
"Holy shit!"
"What the fuck?!"
"AHHH!"
Screams and curses flooded the room from the surprise and strength of the villains while Midoriya stared with his eyes widened in fear, shock, and worry. Uraraka and Todoroki gripped both his hands tightly as they witnessed the almost near-death experience of their friend. Aizawa clenched his fists tightly, almost drawing blood, as he watched his student try to survive another villain attack. He could only watch the battle ensue with no way of helping. He never felt so useless in his entire life.
"Why…?" Kota asked as Izuku picked him up.
"Hm? You were on the list." The villain hummed.
"Ahh, Midoriya seemed like you finally made someone's hit list," Kaminari stated shakily.
"You're not helping me out by telling me that." Izuku chuckled with a wobbly smile stretched across his lips.
Izuku cursed his bad luck for coming into contact with a villain when he was just trying to keep Kota from facing the very same problem. He couldn't believe a villain ended here of all places. Izuku's eyed his phone that lay shattered on the ground, confirming he had no way to contact the teachers for help and there were no reinforcements coming to back him up like the incident with Stain.
'It's just me…just me…I have to do something about this villain by myself…'
"Dude…not to be a Debby Downer or anything, but you seriously have the worst luck out of all of us," Jirou remarked.
"It does seem like he's been intentionally put in these situations though, kero." Tsuyu intoned from beside Uraraka.
"What do you mean?" Rin, from class B, asked with a frown.
"I mean that it's suspicious that Midoriya-chan is always in the middle of some villain attack and incident, kero."
Izuku frowned thoughtfully before nodding with her in agreement, "Well, on-screen me just mentioned something about getting back-up for a 'Stain incident' so that means he was there with Iida during his takedown for some reason."
Aizawa sighed in exhaustion at the thought of his problem child being in another villain incident. Seriously, that child was going to give him a heart attack soon.
"You were probably there for me," Iida stated quietly, "I must have gone after Stain and you followed to make sure I was safe."
Nedzu hummed in agreement, "Hmm, sounds like something he would do."
'What a successor you picked for yourself, All Might.'
'Can I do it while protecting Kota at the same time…?'
Izuku continued thinking before he glanced towards Kota, whose eyes were filled with tears, 'No, I can't think like that. I just have to do it. Right now with the power I have!'
He glowed with the power of One For All then whispered to Kota, "It's…it's going to be okay, Kota. I'll definitely save you."
Two people in the crowd stiffened at the confirmation that…yes, One For All, would not be made a secret and everyone will find about everything during these universes. Izuku's previous quirkless state, his past, about the state his mentor was in and the secret of One For All…and Bakugou.
Aizawa and several students narrowed their eyes at unfamiliar term, in regards to Izuku's quirk, came up. It was definitely different from the name 'Superpower' that that available on the boy's quirk registration.
'I can't fail you, not like I did her! I have to save you…even though it will never be enough.'
At that, multiple people expressed their confusion and wished for an explanation for the obvious red flags that were appearing. Even Izuku appeared concerned at the admission from his on-screen self. It would seem, that Izuku Midoriya carries a lot of guilt for something, maybe, in regards, to the childhood friend from earlier, Toga Himiko.
The screen changed to a scene with Todoroki and Bakugou travestying the forest, the ice-and-fire quirk user carrying Tsuburaba on his back that was passed out from the poisonous gas.
"Hey, Todoroki…erm…thanks, dude." The 'unconscious' boy in question, called out to the stoic boy hesitantly.
"But I didn't do anything," Todoroki stated bluntly with a straight face.
"I-I know that…but it's nice to know that you saved me in such a serious situation."
The answer took a bit to sink in for the half-'n-half boy before his eyes widened slightly, a small blush on his cheeks, as he realized the class B-boy was thanking him for saving his life even though he wasn't the one doing it. Monoma scoff and gritted his teeth at the exchange with disgust.
"Damn it…" Bakugou breathed.
"Is this gas a villain's doing? I'm worried about the others, but we have no other choice. We'll avoid the finish line and get back to camp. Let's leave this to Ragdoll, who's at the halfway point." Todoroki said.
"Don't tell me what to d-" Bakugou gasped, seeing a figure in the cover of darkness.
"Someone there? That's….! Hey, who was in front of us?" Bakugou uttered to Todoroki, eyes widening in slight fear.
"Aww Bakubro, were you scared? Want us to hold your hand, now for you?" Kaminari teased slightly, easing the building tension.
"Hell fucking no, you fucker!" He growled in answer.
"Ahh…Kamibro, you scared! I got you, bro." Kirishima reached out towards his other blond friend.
"Bro…you're so awesome." Kaminari cried out.
"Bro…" Kirishima cried in turn.
This continued until Bakugou screamed that unless they 'shut their traps, he was going up shove his fists down their throats'.
"Tokoyami and…Shoji."
There was a villain with black clothing wrapped around him as he bent over a bloody severed hand lying on the ground.
"So pretty…so pretty…No, I have to work…I was captivated…Oh no what beautiful flesh…Oh, don't tempt me…I have a job to do…" The villain uttered, getting up and glancing back at Todoroki and Bakugou.
"Oh my fucking god, that's a hand?!"
"Looks like things really went tits up…" Kaibara mused with a sick expression on his face.
"Talk about throwing hands, huh?" Kaminari stated grimly, his face turning a particular shade of green.
Jirou stood up from her seat beside Momo and walked over to him, just to smack him across the back of his head, "You are a disgrace to humanity."
"Dude…not the time right now…" Sero admitted wincing.
"So…one of us is running around, with one less hand?" Awase asked with a frown of concern.
The teachers didn't look so happy about that, if anything that question made their grim faces turn white as a sheet, especially Kan and Aizawa. Their students were in mortal danger, one may have lost an arm to a villain and they could nothing about it.
"I'm pretty sure that hand is mine." Several jaws dropped at the blunt admission from Shoji.
"W-Why do you say that?" Shishida queried.
"Todoroki said that the people walking in front of them were Ojiro and me. The skin color of the hand doesn't match Ojiro's but mine."
Honenuki shivered revulsion at the hand on-screen, "H-How can you be so blasé about your hand getting c-chopped off?"
"My limbs can grow back so it's fine."
Plenty of people in the room shuddered at their classmate's nonchalant revelation but they all thought the same thing, 'It's still gotta hurt, though'.
Back at Kota's hideout, the villain trying to kill Izuku laughed, "You'll definitely save him? That sounds just like what someone who wants to be a hero would say. Your kind shows up everywhere, talking about justice."
Izuku stepped back, away from the villain, and closer to the child as the villain continued.
"You're the one called Midoriya, right? This is perfect. We were told to take the initiative and kill you."
"W-What did I say?!" Kaminari called out from his spot while hugging Kirishima tightly for support.
Aizawa's angry screwed-up face caused a shiver to run down Hizashi's spine, "How many of my students' names are currently gracing that shitlist of theirs?" He growled.
"I'll make sure to torment you thoroughly, so show me your blood!" The villain shouted, throwing off his cloak, his right arm covered in muscles.
So his quirk relates to muscles, huh? Augmentation of the body by adding muscles to it; it's a transformation quirk that extremely hard to beat…especially if the opponent had a strength quirk as well. From would Izuku could see on-screen, he was able to use One For All without damaging himself but with significantly less output of power, so in terms of who has the better strength quirk…the villain would win. That was if that Izuku played it safe to spare his limbs from breaking, which looks like something he won't do here.
'Shit! He's coming!' Izuku thought as the villain jumped towards him. Izuku lifted his arm up to block his face as the villain punched him, sending him flying through the wall.
"Deku-kun!" "Midoriya!"
Multiple shouts from the students erupted in alarm, while the teachers stared in worry and frustration at being unable to do anything to help one of their kids. Yagi gaped distressingly at his successor, he knew it was useless. This wasn't his protégé…but that Izuku was someone's child and he was that world's successor of One For All meaning he was a protégé of another Yagi. He was exactly like his kid and he couldn't just sit and watch him face a villain, who was clearly experienced, all on his own.
"Whoops. I almost forgot. If you know, tell me…where's the kid called Bakugo?" the villains asked.
Izuku narrowed his eyes at the villain, 'Kacchan?!'.
"Why do they want Bakubro?!" Kirishima asked worriedly.
"Think they wanna kill him or something," Jirou muttered.
"Hah! I'd like to see them try!"
Izuku dropped to the ground after being kicked into the wall with blood running down his face and his left arm clearly twisted, broken. The villain laughed and taunted Izuku while Kota cried, watching the battle. He couldn't think about Kacchan, he had to stand up and fun so that's wanted he did. But his punch while fast held less power than usual and barely dented the villain who laughed before punching him away.
"My quirk lets me power up my muscles! I increase my speed and strength by the number of muscle fibers so much that they can't be contained by my skin!" He explained with a laugh.
At that point, everyone in the room looked worried, even Bakugou who didn't give a crapshit about Deku. As the villain ranted, he jumped at Izuku once again who managed to avoid him, only to get hit by a rock the villain sent sky-high when he smashed into the ground. The villain laughed and grinned as he punched Izuku to the ground when a rock hit his head.
"Hey…isn't that kid was still there?" Kuroiro asked Tokoyami quietly.
"Water Hose…Papa…Mama…did you torment them like that, too, before you killed them?" Kota demanded.
"Huh? Seriously? Your parents were heroes? This must be fate! Water Hose…it's thanks to them that my left eye is artificial now." He explained, pointed to the fake eye.
Kota screamed at the man, for killing his parents, blaming him and people like him that every situation that goes bad.
"Kids are always shifting the blame like that. That's no good. It's not like I have a grudge about this eye or anything, you know. I just wanted to kill. And those two wanted to stop me. It was the result of all of us doing what we wanted. What's wrong is wanting to do something you are unable to do. Like your mommy and daddy."
The villain explained, leaping towards the black-haired child when the ground dented from where Izuku was, making the man glance at him.
"Fucking hell, dude! How are you still standing?!"
Izuku stared at the on-screen murdered and growled out angrily, "He wants to kill innocent people for fun. He wants to kill that little kid for nothing more than entertainment. He sounds like an overgrown bully with nothing else to do." He stated furiously, the words making Bakugou twitch slightly in his seat, "I'll stop him and save Kota! I have to!"
"You're the one who's wrong!" Izuku yelled back, lodging his arm in between the villain's muscles and skin, before adding, "I got him! Now it doesn't matter how fast he is!"
"And then what? You're gonna punch me with that weak arm of yours?" The villain teased.
"It's not a matter of whether or not I can do it! A hero's job is to risk his life to make the lip service into reality!" Izuku yelled as Kota watched.
The villain gaped in confusion at the sudden change in Izuku when suddenly a part of his shirt started ripping off as he thought, 'One For All 100%'.
"Ever the hero, huh, Midoriya?" Todoroki muttered.
The scene changed after that, to show a familiar blond girl with a knife standing in front of Uraraka and Tsuyu with an intense blush on her face. She giggled as she began to stab at them with quick reflexes, the gravity quirk user and frog quirk user has to jump away multiple times to evade the female villain's agile moves.
"Hey, guys! Isn't that the girl, Togo Himiko, from earlier?!" Tokage asked in shock.
"Oh shit! It is!" Kamakiri gaped.
"She became a villain!" Mineta sobbed out loud, "And she's trying to kill us now!"
"Her personality is different though; more intense than the way she acted around Midoriya-chan, kero."
"Hmm, yes. She was excitable and enthusiastic about everything, especially with her relationship with on-screen me. Not to this extent though. Looks like she changed in the last five years since I had last seen her."
The villain managed to knick a cut across Uraraka's cut, "Ochaco, is your arm okay?" Tsuyu asked her.
Toga looked at the black in her hand with some blood on it, "Shallow…not much blood…" She observed.
"Who are you?!"
"I'm Toga. You two sure are cute. Uraraka and…Asui…" Togo introduced herself, pointing the knife at them as she said their names.
"Girl's either bent or bi…with the way she's looking at you guys…" Jirou snorted.
Uraraka turned a bright red and started waving her arms about, similar to the way Izuku flailed about in embarrassment. Seems like they were hanging out too much that she ended up picking his habits.
"There's not enough blood. Normally, I'd suck it out directly from the cut to get more, but this machine will start sucking if I just stick it in, so my work will progress quickly." Togo hummed as she reached behind her back, grabbing a can with a needle at the top.
It looks like she needs a certain amount of blood for her quirk to work. Does that mean she can store blood in her system for later use or does she have to keep more blood physically with her to keep her transformation longer?
At the back of the theatre, a certain pinked-haired girl perked up at the word 'machine'.
"Tsu, we need to leave!" Uraraka shouted to which Tsuyu nodded, "Aizawa-sensei allowed us to use our quirks to protect ourselves, not to defeat the villain."
"Tsu…Tsu…Tsu…!" Toga repeated cheerfully.
"Don't call me that, kero. Only my friends get to call me that." Tsuyu admonished, "So, I'm your friend!" Togo giggled before slashing Tsuyu.
"Damn girl, props for standing your ground in front of an experienced killer," Tokage smirked.
"You're bleeding, my friend, Tsu. You're so cute. I love blood."
Uraraka shouted in anger just as Toga tried to cut her then performed a move from her internship with the Gunhead Agency. She thought, 'Against someone with a knife, pivot on one foot to disappear from their line of sight…', Uraraka grabbed onto Toga's wrist and the base of her neck, '…Then, with all you might, pull! And, push down! It's the close combat technique I learned from Gunhead Martial Arts!'.
All the girl's cheered at the gravity girl's moves and how she was able to stop a villain so easily with martial arts. Aizawa smirked at his kid, happy knowing she would be alright. Uraraka smiled with joy at her training paid off in a serious situation; now she knew which agency to intern with. Bakugou's eyes widened, as a smirk settled on his, at Round Face's moves.
"Ochaco…you're wonderful, too. You've got the same smell like me." Togo stated with glittering eyes, "There's someone you like, right?"
"Ooh la la, mon ami…it seems we have learned some précieux information." Aoyama stated with his usual flourish making Uraraka blush.
Translation: He learned 'valuable' information.
Uraraka's eyes widened in surprise, "And you feel like you want to be like that person, right? I can tell. 'Cause, there's someone I want to be like, too."
'I'll win! I'll win and be like Deku, too!'
Ashido gasped in realization at who Uraraka had a crush on as she looked between Izuku and her. Her gaze pin-balling from one to the other while Izuku blushed and looked away; unconsciously grasping the hands in his tightly.
'I love him very much! So much that I want to express my love for him.'
"Ahh! Sorry Uraraka, seems like you already got a love rival." Kaminari teased causing an embarrassing squeak to erupt from both people in question.
"It's only natural that we want to be like the person we like. It can't be helped, right? What kind of person do you like? I love people who are beat up and smell like blood! That's how I express my love for them."
'That's how I will express my love to my dear, Izu-kun!'
"Haha…I don't think love works that way." Shoda laughed nervously
As if summoned by Toga's thoughts, Izuku arrived with both his arms in slings bloody, broken, and a dark shade of purple. His eyes widened at the girls in front of him, worry for his friends which turned into disbelief at the sight of his childhood best friend.
"Oh, my fuck, dude! How the hell are you still standing?!"
The shout elicited several responses from everyone in the room starting from his homeroom teacher who intoned that he needed to teach the problem child some self-preservation while Yagi coughed out another gallon of blood in shock alone. Todoroki furrowed his brows in worry knowing that the boy would break himself over and over again just to save one person. Uraraka and Iida gulped at the serious injuries that were going untreated, and the fact that he was actively running around with them didn't ease their worry. His pain tolerance must be shot through the roof for him to carry on like it was nothing.
"Himiko-chan, what are you doing here…?" He called out slowly as if he was seeing a ghost.
"Izu-kun…I really missed you so much." She said with a small smile, different from the maniacal grin from before.
"A fated meeting between star-crossed lovers!" Ashido exclaimed despite the serious atmosphere.
"What the fuck?!" He gasped out, suddenly out of breath for some reason, "You were missing for months and you show up here, of all places. As a villain!"
The shock at the curse word falling from their precious cinnamon roll's mouth didn't overshadow the absolute pain they could see in their friend's eyes.
Toga's eyes gained some clarity at the sight of her friend crying, "Izuku, I'm sorry I couldn't tell you. You were so excited to be a hero, and I didn't want to jeopardize that for you." She sighed sadly.
"Tell me, what?! You were gone! I thought you died!" He screamed anguished at her betrayal.
Izuku clenched his teeth at the sight of him breaking down at the knowing that his precious childhood friend had betrayed him. He knew what that feeling what like when Kacchan had left him and he still continues to feel that pain today but if on-screen still had that friendship even after being split apart then…it had to be extremely heart-wrenching. His teachers stared at him in worry at his reaction to the words of the Izuku on the screen. Bakugou clenched his fists at the pathetic tears and display, yet the tight feeling in his chest grew the more he looked at it. It reminded him of the little boy from his childhood who begged and pleaded with him to keep being his friend, who cried out as he burned him.
"You wouldn't understand?! I couldn't take it anymore! It's not fair that I had to conform to the societal norms that were forced on me. I had to act a certain way to be accepted!" She admitted angrily dropping the previous façade and intense blush.
Shinsou gritted his teeth, knowing the villain's pain and how it eats at one's soul. He had to deal with the same thing as a child because kids were little assholes at that age. No one is accepted for being different, especially by a bunch of kids who didn't know any better.
"You don't get to tell me that I don't understand! I know that society fucking sucks. I was beaten down for years for being different! How dare you say that I don't understand?!"
At that admission, many people looked towards Izuku with alarm on their faces. They knew he was bullied for having his quirk coming in a little late from Bakugou's words and actions but to be physically abused for years. They'd never expect it from a boy who was always grinning positively. Aizawa added speaking to Izuku about his trauma to his list as he was the heartbreaking scene. Yagi grimaced at the display in front of him, not knowing what to say to his successor. He felt like such a bad mentor and contemplated what his master would have done.
"I couldn't have survived in that place unless I acted like them; not talking about my quirk because it was something to be ashamed off, acting proper and being content in that box they stuffed me in because it was wrong to be born with my gift! Why do they get to choose how people get to act?! Why do they get to choose who is bad and good, based solely on their quirk?!"
A large number of students who experienced this prejudice because of their quirks and experiences alone recoiled at the agony burned into every word that she spoke. She wasn't wrong in her words, many of them went to that and it sucked ass.
"Of course I know…I was ostracised for being different," Izuku stated, "Yet you became a hero to save the very people who wouldn't give a fuck if you lived or died!" Toga screamed with tearing running down your face.
Izuku flinched back at that, knowing that he wondered from time to time why he wanted to be a hero but then he remembered the smiles on people's faces when he saved and the absolute relief they felt knowing someone was there to save them from their pain. He may have experienced some pretty awful things in his past but being a hero, from him means he can change that so others don't go what he went through.
"I wanted things to be different. I want a world where being 'me' is not such a fucking tragedy…I want to be free from them, to be able to act about like myself with no consequences."
And with the final say in there screaming match, she got up, holding a canister of blood, and walked away from Izuku without looking back. Izuku watched as she walked away from him…maybe forever and broke down with screaming and tears as his friends stared at him wide-eyed at what took place.
"Deku-kun…"
The screen turned black and the dimmed lights got brighter, but all everyone could hear was the muffled sobs from a certain green-haired boy. The scene that just witnessed was absolutely heart-wrenching and filled everyone with grief as they listened to the sounds coming from the boy.
Izuku…he wasn't enough to save his friend from her pain so how could he call himself a hero.
In the absolute silence, Exceed appeared in the corner of the room without anyone noticing and listened to the sounds coming from her favorite child.
It was all her fault.
Why did she admit to the Council that she indulged the boy in his dreams and efforts?
The rules were put in place for a reason, she had to remain impartial, and for her disregard -he was punished for it.
Well...that was dramatic and extremely antsy.
If I made you cry, I'm sorry. If I didn't then that means I'll have to try harder next time :).
This chapter spans over 15,000 thousand words because I wanted a lot of plot and accurate reactions of the characters who just got shoved into an isolated pocket space. I tried to make it funny but my humour is broken so what I find funny doesn't apply to normal people :).
I hope you enjoyed it and any feedback is helped.
