The Princess' New Playmate
"Please?"
"No."
"Pretty please?"
"No."
"… Pretty please with a whipped snow cream on top?"
"For the last time, NO!" Pokota shouted out loud to the persistent princess, slightly annoyed, "I don't want to play with you right now!"
Princess Peregrine, or Perry to her friends, pouted before waving her hand puppet around. "But why? We had so much fun yesterday!"
The little stuffed animal huffed and said, "I still need to figure out how to get back to my world and I can't be distracted now!" After a couple of seconds, he calmed himself down and tried to reason with her. "Besides, don't you have an important meeting soon? You need to prepare for it."
The princess blinked before placing her puppet hand to her chin. "I did already prepare for it earlier today. So, that means I have some play time before it starts. So, please play with me!"
"No!" Pokota shouted for a second time, "Now, leave me alone while I try to figure out how I got here in the first place!"
Perry huffed in annoyance to his stern attitude. She already knew how he got here. He flew through her window one night and fell on the floor, exhausted. Apparently, he had traveled very far from another terra and had realized he probably shouldn't do that again. Lucky for him, there was a merchant airship coming by soon. And so she had planned on getting enough with him as much as possible until then. However while she had managed to convince him to play before, he now wanted to focus getting back to his kingdom.
And she didn't have a problem with it. It was just that it had been so long since she had seen Piper and she still didn't have that many friends. So when the furry little guy popped in her window, she considered it to be a sign of having another friend.
Of course, he was being stubborn now and Perry really wanted to play right now. She then suddenly got an idea. A really good one at that. Using her fine acting skills, she pretended to faint and waved her puppet in the air. "Oh no! The evil Dr. Ogre has captured Lady Ursula and has locked her up in his secret torture dungeon!"
"He did?!" Pokota quickly stood up and started throwing punches at the puppet. Perry, having been verse in doll-on-doll combat, quickly dodged his attacks. But on occasion, she let him have hit Dr. Ogre. It was considerate not to let a friend miss all the time and besides, it didn't really hurt.
She was about to let him deliver the final blow before she heard footsteps approaching her room. "Someone's coming!" she panicked, "Quick! Play dead!" Although the command was unnecessary, the stuffed animal laid flat and still, pretending that he was now a toy. This strange world didn't have very many talking stuffed animals, and Perry had explained that him speaking may upset some of the staff. So in the meantime, Pokota had to pretend he was an average toy. Not fitting for his pride but he really didn't have a choice in the matter.
The princess got up and prepped herself to neatness, just in time for the door to open. "Your highness, your afternoon meeting is about to begin shortly."
"Why, yes. Thank you, Regent." She bowed to the Regent, who just stared at her with an impartial look, and proceeded to leave in a graceful manner for the meeting. Once out of sight, he turned to her room and looked at the scene with disgust. The princess may have everyone else fooled but not him. She was still unfit to rule an entire kingdom. There was even proof with all the puppets scattered across the floor.
In frustration, he picked up the dolls and placed them on her bed, angrily muttering, "If she really wants to take responsibility for her kingdom, she should at the very least throw these things away!" When he got to Pokota, he picked him up by his ear and stared at him in utter disgust. "Especially this filthy piece of trash."
Now Pokota considered himself to be very passive with his anger in any given situation. But his temper rivaled that of Lina if someone were to push the wrong buttons. So when the Regent just called him a piece of trash, he couldn't helped but shout to the heavens, "WHO ARE YOU CALLING A FILTHY PIECE OF TRASH, YOU JERK!"
His actions definitely had an effect on the Regent. On completely hearing the stuffed animal speak, he stood there in shocked and then fainted. Pokota wiggled himself out of his grip and then stared at the pass out man with a sweatdrop forming. "Ahehe…"
"Pokota!" Just then, Perry burst into the room and grabbed the little guy. "Are you okay?! Did something happen?" As Pokota went to explain what had happened, the Regent woke up to wondering why the princess was talking to a doll and why, oh why, was it talking back.
Author's Notes:
There are three types of expression to hearing a plushie speak: Casually talk back as if it was a normal occurrence, be fangirlly about it, or faint. Princess Perry is a mixture of the first and second.
Anyway, this piece popped up long after I did a relationship analysis on Pokota and Perry, and I ship this now. It's on the bonderline of wanting them to be good friends and being married. And considering Perry in the past, she probably wouldn't care if he's a doll or not.
While we're on the subject of royalty, I'm hoping to get more into that, especially with Prince Phil. I think that anyone meeting him for the first time would make the best scenes in fanfic. Wouldn't you agree?
I'll hopefully have one of my main projects updated. Well, until next time.
