Over The Hedge: A New Perspective by: VampireGirlFan1

Thank you guys for reading chapter 1 of Over The Hedge: A New Perspective

SouthernPacificFan: Thank you!

Guest Melissa: Thank you so much!

Guest Alejandra: Thanks!!

For those of you that don't know: Gladys Sharp from Over The Hedge is like a Karen. There's a video on YouTube called Gladys Sharp being a Karen for two minutes straight. I didn't notice that until I watched the movie last year.

Sorry it took me a while. I was having writer's block. It's so annoying!

Anyway, I finally saw Black Widow, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, and Hawkeye. I couldn't stop laughing when Doctor Octavius said his name in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Here's chapter 2

Chapter 2

Later at night, Ciara was reading Wuthering Heights with the lamp on, and then she heard Gladys' car pulled up in the driveway, and she put the bookmark in the pages where she left off. Ciara went outside to help Gladys with the groceries.

"Hi, Aunt Gladys," Ciara said.

"Hi, Ciara how was your day?" Gladys asked.

"It's good; I got to see Ben at Diner 67 today,"

"Wait, your friend Ben Rogers that went to high school with you?"

"Yeah,"

"How is he?"

"He's good; he graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature. He's going to be an English teacher in Chesterfield High School,"

"That's great news! Did you find anything at the Tree of Life Books Gifts?"

"Yeah, I got Dear John and Wuthering Heights,"

"That's nice, I'm glad that you have a good time,"

"Me too, it was really great seeing Ben again,"

Then, Gladys takes her phone out. "Ciara, I need to make a call. I'm sorry,"

"Its fine, I'll get the groceries from the car,"

"Thank you, Ciara,"

"You're welcome,"

"Hi, this is Gladys Sharp. Your president of the Home Owner's Association? Right," Gladys said on the phone. Ciara went to Gladys' car to grab a box with food inside.

"What is that?" Ciara heard a voice.

"Easy, easy, don't worry. That's just a human being. And they are just is scared of us as we are to them. Now, if a human does happen to see you, just lay down, roll over, and give your privates good licking. They love it," another voice said. Ciara decided to go inside and put the food away.

"The Homeowner's Charter, which you signed, says the grass is supposed to be two inches and according to my measuring stick, yours is two point five," Gladys said while carrying another box of food and close the front door.

After putting the food away, Ciara changed into blue t-shirt and black sweatpants. She sits on one of the stools on the kitchen island and decided to try to find an idea for her book, so she brought her notebook, pencil, and pens that her aunt Gladys bought her.

Then, Ciara heard the garbage cans clanging to the ground. She gasped.

"What was that?" she said to herself. Ciara went back to her notebook to find ideas. She sighed in distress.

"Why can't I think of anything? It's writer's block. I hate writer's block," she said to herself. She sees Tiger going to the backyard.

"Halt! Intruders! Intruders! Get out, all of you!" Tiger said, meowing. Ciara got up from the stool and go outside where Tiger is at.

"Hey, what's going on, boy?" Ciara asked Tiger. She looked up, sees the mess, and a raccoon, turtle, squirrel, skunk, porcupines, and possums. Ciara screamed. The animals looked at her.

"What are you doing?" The raccoon asked.

"You said that we lick our..." The male porcupine said.

"No! Nix that! Run!" The raccoon said. As the animals were about to run, Ciara stopped them.

"Wait! Did you guys just make this mess?" Ciara asked them. The animals looked at her with confusion.

"She can understand us?" The squirrel asked.

"Yes, I can understand you. I can talk to animals, and you guys need to get out of here right now before someone sees you," Ciara responded. Gladys walks up to her niece.

"Ciara, what's going on here?" Gladys asked. She screamed as she sees the animals.

"Run," Ciara mouthed at the animals. The animals ran as Gladys takes out a broom to scare the animals away.

"Get out of here! Shoo! Get out of here! I just mopped this patio! Filthy vermin!" Gladys said. The animals went back to the hedge, Ciara sighed in relief. Gladys turns to Ciara.

"Are you alright?" she asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'll clean the patio up if that's okay with you," Ciara said.

"Ciara, that's very kind of you. But, you don't have to do this," Gladys said as they headed back inside the house.

"Aunt Gladys, its fine; I'm living with you so I have to do something other than read and write," Ciara said.

"I know, ever since you came here, you have done so much to help out even taking care of the cat,"

"I really don't mind, Aunt Gladys I love helping and I love Tiger. I brush his fur everyday so his fur will be soft, I feed him, and I let him sleep in my room sometimes,"

"Alright, you can clean up the patio tomorrow because right now it's late and you need to get to sleep,"

"Thanks, Aunt Gladys good night,"

"Good night, Ciara I'll see you in the morning,"

"Come on, Tiger time for bed,"

Tiger runs to Ciara and follows her to her room. As they got to her room, she lays down on the bed. She sighed.

"I hope that they're okay," she said to herself. Tiger climbs on her bed and sits next to her.

Ciara smiles at Tiger as she pets him before going to sleep.

The next morning, Ciara woke up and changed into a long-sleeved purple top, blue jeans, and converse. She walked downstairs and poured cat food in the cat bowl.

"Tiger, time for breakfast," Ciara said. Tiger runs to the cat bowl and waits patiently.

"Thanks, Ciara," Tiger said.

"You're welcome," Ciara said as she walked to the kitchen and make French toast, eggs, bacon, and strawberries for breakfast for her and Gladys. She poured herself a cup of chamomile tea. Gladys came down to the kitchen and saw the breakfast that Ciara made.

"Ciara, did you do all this?" Gladys asked.

"Yes, I did and your coffee is done," Ciara responded as she handed her aunt her cup of coffee.

"Thank you,"

"You're welcome, after I'm done with breakfast; I'll do the dishes, then clean up the patio that the animals made a mess of,"

"Okay,"

After breakfast, Ciara did the dishes and went to the backyard to clean up the patio. She picked up the garbage cans and put the trash back in the cans. By the time Ciara's done with the patio, she saw a cookie flying and it landed on the roof.

"What the… (A/N)" Ciara said.

Then, she went back into the house to grab her purse, keys, notebook, notepad, pencil, and pens. Ciara went outside and saw two girls with a wagon full of cookies. So, she walks up to them.

"Hey, girls," Ciara greeted them.

"Hi, Ciara," Shelby and Mackenzie said.

"I see that you girls are selling cookies," Ciara said.

"Yes, we are. Do you want to buy cookies from us?" Mackenzie asked.

"Oh, yes I do. Let me get my wallet out," Ciara said as she got her wallet.

"Oh, no don't worry about the money. It's on us," Shelby said. Ciara takes out a 20 and hands it to Mackenzie.

"This is for you guys, I insist," Ciara said. The girls handed her two boxes of Skinny Mints.

"Here you go," the girls said.

"Thank you, girls I'll see you later. Tell Janis I said hi for me," Ciara said as she grabbed the cookies.

"You're welcome and we will. Bye,"

"Bye,"

Ciara walked to her car, opened the trunk and sat down. She opens her notepad, trying to think of an idea for her book. Then, she started to think about the animals that she saw yesterday. She sighed. Then, she heard screaming that's coming from a few blocks away. She gets up, gathers her things, closes the trunk of her car, and start running towards to where the screaming came from.

By the time Ciara got there, she saw Mackenzie and Shelby dragged Janis to where she was at.

"There! Over there! That's where the squirrel attacked us. It looked like it had rabies or something," Mackenzie said.

"There was this gross, naked amphibian thing," Shelby said.

"Reptile," Ciara heard the turtle said to himself.

"It's okay, girls. Go inside, have a cookie, turn on the TV, and calm down," Janis said.

"Thanks, mom," Shelby said as she ran back home with Mackenzie behind her. Gladys walked up to Janis.

"I'm sorry, Janis. Did I just heard them say 'rapid squirrel'?" Gladys asked.

"Oh, I think they might just be overreacting," Janis responded.

"But what if they're not? What if we have a potential pandemic on our hands? Vermin running loose, spreading disease, and lowering our property values?" Gladys said.

"Yeah, I have a casserole in the oven. Gotta run," Janis said while leaving Gladys.

"Fine, you worry about your casserole, and I'll worry about the end of suburban peace and tranquility!" Gladys yelled at Janis.

"Hi, Aunt Gladys," Ciara said as Gladys turned to her niece.

"Ciara, I didn't know that you were there. I'm sorry," Gladys said.

"It's fine. I heard about the rapid squirrel and I just wanted to make sure that the girls are okay," Ciara said with concern.

"Oh, okay. That's why you're here?" Gladys asked.

"Yeah, I bought cookies from them, went to my car, and then I heard screaming so I went to see what was that about, and I saw the girls showing Janis where the squirrel attacked them. That's what happened," Ciara explained.

"Alright,"

"Anyway, I'm gonna go and call Ben,"

"Okay, Ciara. Be careful,"

"I will,"

By the time Ciara got home, she takes out her cell phone and called Ben. He answers by the second ring.

"Hello?" Ben said.

"Hey, Ben it's me," Ciara said.

"Oh, Ciara hi how are you?"

"I'm good, you?"

"I'm good. What have been up to?"

"I walked around the neighborhood, bought cookies from Mackenzie and Shelby, went to my car to sit, and I heard screaming,"

"Why?"

"Because the girls told Janis that they got attacked by a rapid squirrel,"

"Are they alright?"

"Oh, they're fine. I also need to tell you something,"

"Okay, what is it?"

"Last night, I saw a raccoon, turtle, squirrel, skunk, two possums, and a family of porcupines in the backyard,"

"Wait what happened?"

"I was sitting in the kitchen trying to figure out a story, I heard the garbage cans clanging in the backyard, and then I heard Tiger outside, so I went out to see what he was meowing at, that's when I saw them,"

"What happened next?"

"You're going to think that I'm crazy,"

"Why would I think you're crazy?"

"Because I heard them talking. They can talk,"

"Then, you're not crazy,"

"Thanks, Ben,"

"You're welcome,"

"Wait a minute, how do you know that I'm not crazy?"

"When I helped my mom out in the animal hospital one time, I heard the cats and dogs talk and I talked to them. I thought that I was going crazy,"

"You and me both,"

"Anyway, I'm going to let you go, I'm running low on milk and I need to get to the grocery store,"

"Okay bye, Ben. I'll talk to you later,"

"Yeah bye, Ciara,"

Then, Ciara hangs up the phone, grabs her notebook, pencil, and pens, and then sets them down on the couch. She goes to the kitchen to make herself a cup of herbal tea and then she went back to the living room to write an idea for her book while drinking her tea.

Two days later, Ciara helped Gladys carrying a box of groceries out of her aunt's car. Ciara is wearing a red short-sleeved top with a jacket, blue jeans, and converse. When they came back to grab more groceries but the trunk was empty.

"Ohh!" Gladys said in frustration.

"Aunt Gladys, I swear that there was more in the trunk," Ciara said.

"I know, Ciara, but you don't need to worry about it right now,"

"Okay,"

Ciara went to the dining room with her notebook, notepad, and her writing utensils and then sits down in one of the chairs. She thought about the animals she saw in her backyard, and then she writes down the plot summary.

"I think I got it," Ciara said to herself. She closes her notepad with ideas in it, runs to her room, grabs her laptop, and goes back to the dining room and begins to write down her story.

The next day, as Ciara and Gladys went out of the house. Ciara was wearing a red rose top, blue jeans, and black flats. They saw the garbage cans knocked over and the trash was all over the place!

"How did this happen?" Ciara asked.

"I don't know how this is happening," Gladys responded.

"I'm going for a walk around the neighborhood,"

"Be careful,"

"I will, see you later, Aunt Gladys," As Ciara began to walk in the neighborhood. Gladys takes out her phone and starts dialing.

"Hello? I need every business listing that you have under 'exterminator'," Gladys said. Ciara gasped softly. Oh, no. I need to tell Ben. She thought.
