Bella would have never guessed that she'd be shopping in L.A. She despised shopping so much before as a teen, and now, it was somewhat comforting. It probably had something to do with the fact that Fred wasn't running around like a chicken with her head cut off. She was helping Bella pick out some outfits that were presentable around the office and acclimated to the weather.
Bella found it enjoyable when she was looking for herself and not for someone else. She wasn't a skirt person, and she preferred jeans and sweats. She got chilly very easily and found a few long-sleeved shirts as well as some tank tops and sweaters. She found a few pairs of flats and sneakers. Fred also took her to the grocery store where she could get detergent and hygienical items. As they waited in line, Bella looked down at the black card that Angel had given her. "Are you sure I'm not spending too much? I just spent $200 on clothes, and this stuff is going to at least be $50 at minimum," Fred just chuckled at her. "It's really Wolfram & Hart's money so trust me, he doesn't care,"
Bella hummed. "So, you guys work for them in hopes that you can do better?" She asks as they walk over to the self-checkout. Fred nods. "Well Angel somewhat took over in a sense, but yes, we try to. Before accepting their offer, things just got so out of hand. The world was overcoming being brainwashed by this superbeing and it was rough. We figured if you can't beat 'em, join 'em," Bella's brows rose. "Superbeing?" Fred nods. "It would take a whole day to explain it all to you, at least from when I arrived with the team. Angel saved me from this other dimension, and I've been with Angel and my friends ever since,"
Bella scratched her head at the fact that there were other dimensions and Fred was in one of them. "If you don't mind me asking, who was Cordelia?" Fred frowns. "She was a good friend. She fell into a coma not that long ago. I don't exactly remember how though…it's fuzzy," Fred hums in concentration, and Bella goes about ringing up her items. She pays for what she got, and she and Fred head out to her car. "Thanks again Fred. I needed these things," Fred gives her a bright smile, and they put things in the back. As they start to get into her car, Bella looks up feeling like she was being watched.
She looks around curiously before getting in. Fred starts the car and glances over at Bella curiously. "Everything okay?" Bella shrugs. "I'm probably just being paranoid. I felt like someone was watching me," Fred pulls out of the parking space, glancing over at Bella again. "Nine times out of ten, it's because you are. Angel sent out a few agents. I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to feel overwhelmed. They're just making sure we aren't being followed," She reassures. At this, Bella can see in the side mirror of a big, black truck following them "Huh…." She mumbles, unaware that she even missed it. Fred just sends her a smile. "You know, if you ever want to get out of the law firm, I'd be glad to have you come spend the night for the weekend at my place. I know it can get stuffy in there,"
Bella smiles gratefully. "I'd like that. Thank you," Fred drives back to work, and they take their things back to Angel's office. When they walk in, they see Angel's chair is turned around and away from them. They sit her things on the black leather couch, and Bella pulls out her wallet that held his card. She walks over to his desk and places the card down. "Thanks again Angel. Do you mind if I head down to your suite?" She waits for his response, her brows furrowing as he sounded flustered. "Uh, y-yeah, s-sure," She's only known him for three days, but she got the feeling that he was a very composed person.
"Are you alright?" Fred asks, too picking up on his voice, slowly walking around his desk. The chair turns away from her and to the side. Bella moves around the desk her eyes widening. "Oh. My. God," She gasps. She covers her mouth in shock, looking Angel up and down. "You're…." Angel glares up at her menacingly. "Don't say it," He warns. Bella can't help the burst of laughter that erupts from her chest. Angel sighs out annoyed, eyeing Fred as she has a similar expression on her face. "You're adorable," She chuckles, bending down and running a finger through his fabricated hair. "Hey!" He snaps, knocking her hand away. "What's so funny in here? I can hear you laughin' from down the hall pet,"
"Oh god," Angel groans, covering his face. Spike makes his way into the office maneuvering himself around Bella. "Bloody hell. You're a wee puppet man," Spike was clearly amused, reaching out to touch him. Bella narrowly moved out of the way as Angel lunged at Spike, and the two went tumbling to the floor, and out of the office. Bella hitches her thumb at them and looks at Fred in curiosity. "Is this normal?" Fred just raises a brow. "Angel being a puppet or his and Spike's relationship?" Bella chuckled. "Both," She replied, another wave of laughter bubbling from her chest. "The puppet thing, not so much. We need to figure out what happened and reverse whatever is going on. Spike and Angel? That's normal," Bella shakes her head. "Well…I am going to go put my things away, and change. Can I find you in your lab?" Fred nods and leaves Bella alone, sidestepping the wood from Angel's broken office door.
Bella gathers all of her things, juggling them in her arms before heading to the elevator. She presses the arrow and waits as the doors close. The elevator does that little drop and dip before heading up. Once she gets into Angel's suite, she goes about laying out her things and making the guest room somewhat homey until Angel could find her. She pulled out the only few pictures of Charlie she had and set them on the dresser. She folded the clothes she had and sat those in the dresser next to the bed. After getting the room how she wanted it, she took a step back to examine her work. Seeing Charlie's smiling face made her smile before it melted from her face slowly.
She didn't think she'd ever smile again, truly smile.
She sighed and grabbed the clothes she left out for herself before heading into the bathroom to shower. She opened her new body wash that smelled like eucalyptus and honey, falling in love with it immediately. She hummed to herself, wondering what she was going to do now. She couldn't do much outside of this place due to Victoria, but she wanted to find something to occupy her mind. She thought about asking Angel what she could do to help, after he was back to a vampire of course. She wondered how'd they'd do that. How does a vampire get turned into a puppet anyway? She mulled over the ways and came up with nothing except probably something magical.
As she was washing, she heard a clanging sound that made her pause. She didn't think it was Angel as for one, he was too small, and two, even as a puppet, she could assume that he wouldn't make noise. Spike was essentially as quiet, and she didn't think anyone else would come down here. With the water still running, she grabs the towel on the rack and steps out, wrapping the towel around her body. She slowly opens the door and steps out quietly.
She narrowed her eyes as she saw someone cross the bed in her room. She quietly and quickly walks across the wooden floor standing by the double doors as a female sat on the edge of the bed, opening her drawers, and even taking Charlie's picture off the dresser to examine. "What are you doing?" Bella asks, hiding the surprise on her face as it was none other than Eve who going through her things. Eve jumped up in surprise, dropping Charlie's picture. It landed on the floor, the glass breaking around it.
"God, I'm sorry," She spoke in that ridiculously high-pitched voice, bending down to pick up the frame. "Leave it. Why are you in here?" Bella askes suspiciously. She didn't trust Eve. There was just something in her gut telling her that Eve was not to be trusted. Eve just shrugs. "Just curious about you is all. Um, I guess I'll be going," Bella just watched as Eve scooted around her with hard eyes. Once Eve was gone, Bella sighed.
She went to shut the water off and got dressed. Afterward, she went in search of a broom and dustpan. She found a miniature set by the fridge and went to clean up the mess. She picked up Charlie's picture, shaking off the shards. She sat it down flat and swept up the glass. She closed the drawers, wondering why Eve was snooping around her things. She stood up, taking a look to see if she missed any glass. As she was walking out of the room, she tripped over the end of the cover and went sliding across the floor. Most of the glass had stayed within the dustpan, and a rather large shard had sliced her palm. "Shoot," She murmurs, holding her hand closed.
She puts the shard in the pan and carefully stands back up, dumping the glass in the trash. She goes in search of a first aid kit, wondering if Angel even had one. She goes into the bathroom, and looks in the medicine cabinet, lucking out that he had one. She rinses off her hand, hissing at the slight sting. She removes her hand, seeing that it was bleeding a lot. She ignored the need to throw up. She'd be embarrassed if Angel or Spike even had come down only to find her passed out with a bloody hand.
She applied some cream and an alcohol wipe to disinfect the cut and didn't see any band-aids that would fit, so she got some gauze and gingerly wrapped her hand. Once finished, she watched as some blood pooled in the middle, but saw that at least it had stopped flowing. She used her right hand to put everything away and made sure she cleaned up behind herself before heading to the elevator. Before she hit the button however, she noticed that there were some breakfast items on the counter.
She wasn't sure how she missed them earlier that morning, but she smiled at the array of granola bars and pop tarts along with fruit. There was a little sticky note with Angel's name written on it. Wasn't sure what you liked -Angel
She grabbed a granola bar, and hit the arrow to go down, and stepped inside once the doors opened. She brushed her wet hair from her face and waited patiently as the elevator took her back to the main floor. The elevator doors dinged, and the doors opened to Angel who was sitting in his chair, trying to sew himself together.
Bella frowned, stepping out. "Are you okay?" She asks, getting a grunt in response as he pulled on the needle. "I'm made of felt, and my nose comes off," Bella walks forward, and sits the granola bar down. "Let me help," She waits as Angel just sighs and opens his hand for her to take the needle. She gingerly takes the needle and squats down. She slowly, yet swiftly worked on stitching him back together where he had tears in his fabric. "Are you bleeding?" He asks, looking down at her hand. Bella mumbles out an "Eh, yeah," but does not explain. "Your uh, friend, that woman Eve was in your suite," She says, bending down to bite on the string before coming to a stand.
Angel sounded agitated at the thought. "Is that how you hurt your hand?" Bella opens the granola bar, looking down at Angel curiously. "This is so weird. I tripped. She broke one of my picture frames, and I was cleaning it up, cut my hand, no biggie. I cleaned up as best I could so…um, she was going through my things, like she was looking for something," Angel just hums. "I'll talk to her about personal space,"
"What happened to you?" She asks, motioning towards the scar on his face. "Werewolf," He replies. Her brows raise. "How? There are werewolves in here?" She crossed her arms over her chest, confusion on her face. "Just one. She got attacked by one, and she stays here on every full moon, and we contain her. We were talking and she…well this," Even as a puppet, she could tell that Angel had some fondness for this werewolf. "You like her?" Bella smiles. Angel shrugs. "That's not important. Did you get everything you need today?" Bella chuckles, but nods. "I did. Thank you. So, I get that it's best to stay here for my protection, but is there anything I can do? You know, keep busy?" Angel turns around in his seat, his hands folded together as he thought.
"I can't tell you where to go or what to do, but if you do need to go out, make it a night trip so that at least Spike or myself can go with you. Around here however, you're free to roam. Stay away from demons, other vampires, and uh that thing," He tilts his head towards his glass window where a creature was walking past. It was tall, and pale white looking with an almost wrinkled face and white eyes. Its smile was as wide as a Cheshire cat that made it look sinister. Bella shivers at the sight of it. "What is it?" She questions, unable to help herself as she stepped closer to Angel as the creature looked their way. "A gentleman. They make your nightmares a reality. You're under my protection, so no one should bother you,"
Bella hums. "Thank you again. I'd probably be dead right now," She states grimly, looking down at him. "It's what we do Bella. We help people. We'll take care of this problem for you, and you can get back to your normal life," Bella humorlessly chuckles. "Angel, I haven't had a normal life since I turned 17," Angel didn't have anything to say in response to that. They both look up as Wesley and Fred come into his office. "Angel, we noticed something in the video. The singing is like a cloaking device. They're really talking to the kids, and I think with this show, they plan on sucking the life force out of every child that's watching," Bella takes a step back as Angel hops down from the chair.
She does her best to keep a serious expression on her face. Gunn walks in behind them, seeming sharper than ever, explaining that the owner of the show made a deal with demons to improve his ratings. Bella was so confused as they spoke, unable to keep up with what they were talking about. They soon separate to prepare to leave, and Angel turns back to her. "Spike is around here somewhere; he'd gladly keep you company. Remember what I said," With that, he was gone, and Bella nodded to herself. "No demons, vampires, or the gentleman. Easy enough," She mutters to herself. She starts to make her way out of his office, and she hears her name being called. She looks over to the reception desk, biting her lip in thought. Angel said no vampires…does she count? She thought to herself.
She straightens her shoulders and strides towards Harmony. "Yes?" She answers, and Harmony stares upon her with scrutiny before giving her a wide smile. "How are you liking it so far?" Bella tilts her head. "I don't really have an opinion yet. I'm pretty much stuck here until Angel finds the solution to my problem," Harmony hums. "Well, how about you and I have a girl's night out? We can go drink, look at guys, have a bite," She lists off. Bella purses her lips, narrowing her eyes in thought. "You're not going to like eat me, are you?" Harmony laughs. "No! I only eat bad guys. Promise," Bella wasn't a night person, and she didn't know Harmony all that well yet.
"Um, maybe a rain check, yeah?" She asks. Harmony looks slightly upset, but nods. Bella lightly smiles reassuringly. "If you see Spike, can you tell him I'll be in Fred's lab?" Harmony nods, huffing slightly as Bella walked away, and towards the stairs. Following the signs, Bella easily found Fred's lab and went inside. She just wanted to look around and see if Fred had figured anything about her brain and the venom going on in her system. She was slightly awed at the amount of space Fred had to work with. Bella walked down the few steps, noticing that everyone was gone for the day. It was a Friday after all, so it made sense. She didn't touch anything and kept her distance from jars and tubes. The last thing she wanted was to mess with something important. At the end of the lab sat what looked like a metal headpiece.
She curiously walked over to it and examined it with her eyes. She frowns at all the wires from it, wondering what it could be. "Beautiful, isn't it?" Bella shrieks in panic, swiveling around in surprise as she came face to face with Derek. Placing a hand on her heart, she looks upon the young man startled. "You scared me," She breathes out. Derek chuckles, "Sorry. I thought you heard me. Do you like it?" Bella quizzically looks down at the mechanism. "This? What is it?"
Derek steps closer, and Bella shivers slightly. "It's like a containment system. It's a prototype of course until I can get it smaller. Would you like to try it on?" He goes to pick it up, and Bella takes a reserved step away from him. "Um, no thank you," She murmurs politely. Derek gave her the creeps, big time. He just had this weird, almost evil vibe that Bella could feel rolling off of him. "I made it for you," Derek insists as he starts to plug the wires into the outlet by the table it was sitting on. "I said no," She reinstates more firmly.
Derek turns around, surprised coloring his face at her tone. "Have I upset you?" He asks, sounding concerned. He looked at her with his wide brown eyes, his lips pursed, hands clasped in front of him. "Look, I've already told you that I do not wish to participate in any of your theories when it concerns my brain. I'm not a science experiment," She crosses her arms over her chest, standing her ground. She would not stand for some creep freaking her out every other day. She's had enough.
Derek seems to narrow his eyes at her, and Bella's heart spikes for a moment. They stare at each other for a long minute, and Bella was starting to get antsy as he started taking very slow and deliberate steps towards her. Her composure starts to waver a bit as she takes a step back, and she lets out a shaky breath. She's stopped by cold metal digging into her back. She braces her hands against the metal table behind her as Derek all but steps into her personal space.
He raises his hand to move a strand of hair from her face, and she swats it away. He gives her a tight smile. "My apologies," He was almost pressing against her as he stared at her with an awed expression. Her heart was now hammering in her chest nervously.
In Lorne's office sat a confused Spike. "I hate riddles. This doesn't make any sense. Can't you just tell me what I want to know?" Lorne just raises a perfectly smooth brow, a smirk on his face. "Doesn't work like that vampire, and you know it. All I can say is, do what you feel, follow your instincts, and….are you even listening?" He states, leaning forward as Spike seemed to be somewhere else. "Shut up for a second," Spike furrows his brows, able to pluck out Bella's voice among all the others within the building.
Get away from me…
Spike seemed to go rigid, his body tensing as he listened closely with his ears, all conversation ceasing as Lorne watched him carefully. Spike's eyes narrowed, and Lorne only had to blink once. Spike's chair was vacated, his office door wide open. "Well damn," Lorne mutters. Spike wasn't sure if it was anger or jealousy that passed through him when he entered Fred's lab. All he knew was that he didn't like what he saw. He could practically smell the tension, and Bella's heart rate was skyrocketing. "Is there a problem?" He spoke, appearing next to them in a matter of seconds. They both jumped in surprise, Derek moving away immediately. Bella swallowed down her nerves, relief flooding through her at the sight of her blonde savior. She couldn't help but step towards him, taking hold of him for her own peace of mind and protection. Spike glanced down at her, before looking at Derek. "Go wait out in the hall for me love, I'll be right there," He inclined his head, and he smoothed a hand down her back in reassurance, nudging her in that direction. He wrinkled his nose at Derek's scent on her.
Once he was sure Bella was gone, he zipped forward, grabbing Derek by the collar of his lab coat. His face morphed, bones realigning, fangs elongating, and Derek gazed at him with apprehension. "I don't know if you got the message mate, but she's off-limits. I mean that in every way. If I smell you on her again, I will hunt you down and rip you apart, Angel's rules be dammed. Do you understand?" He growls out, shaking him a bit to get a verbal response. "I-I understand," Derek stuttered out, his wide eyes boring into dark yellow ones. Spike's face changes back to normal, and he sets Derek down. "Thought so. Have a good day," Spike disappeared, and Derek leaned back against the table, fear coursing through him. The last thing he needed was to draw attention to himself from the vampire that coined the term William the Bloody. He'd get what he wanted, but it would take time.
Spike appeared next to Bella, looking her over. He takes her chin, causing her to look up at him. "Relax pet," He soothed, listening as her heartbeat. Bella's shoulders sagged, and she shivered from his slightly cool touch. "What was that about?" Bella shifts, leaning into his hand. "He thinks I'm some science experiment or something," Spike just raises a brow. "Is that so? I don't think he'll be bothering you again but say the words and I'll take care of it," He vowed. Bella blinks up at him for a moment, her eyes roaming his face.
He gives her a smile and a wink. Bella breaks out into a grin. "You can't take care of all of my problems," She murmurs, watching his hand as he removed it from her chin. "Sure I can. These Cold Ones will be taken care of as soon as we find them, and any human would be an idiot to cross me," He puffs out his chest, causing her to laugh a bit. She bites her lip however, her eyes catching the elevators down below. Spike followed her gaze, a brow raising as Angel was still a puppet. "Come on," She followed Spike down the stairs, watching her feet closely. He suddenly grabs her hand, and she finds herself at the bottom of the steps. She blinked a few times, giving him a look as he just winked at her. He was almost as fast as Edward, if not mere seconds slower, but she couldn't tell the difference. It almost felt like she was moving through time.
"So, you're a bloody puppet forever mate?" Angel looks up at him in disdain. "As amused as you are, no. It'll wear off in a few hours. What have you been messing with?" Angel asks suspiciously. Spike nudges Bella with his arm. "Just our lovely human here," Bella blushes as Angel turns to her with a sigh. "You can tell him no. He'll live," Bella chuckles. "I'm alright. He's not that bad," She teases. Spike snorts. He looks up nonetheless, his eyes narrowing. Without looking at Bella, he says, "What do you say I take you for a late-night walk love? Grab some dinner. My treat," Bella refrained herself from dancing in delight. She'd been dying to see L.A. at night when she wasn't being followed or chased. "Okay, yeah, give me five minutes," Spike nods, turning his attention to her retreating form.
Angel had noticed Spike's change in demeanor, and it was the only reason he hadn't walked off yet. "What's that about?" Spike just shook his head. "Nothing important right now. If you'll excuse me," Spike walked towards his office and through the doors to wait for Bella. Angel looked up, seeing no one.
The streets of L.A. were dark like usual, with few people walking about this time of night. Bella's arm brushed against Spike's jacket as she walked next to him. She held her cup of two scoops of ice cream in her hand, looking up at Spike curiously as he explained how he was rewarded a soul. "A heroic act huh. Okay so let me get this straight, a few days after you died, you show up in Angel's office as a ghost? Before you can be dragged to hell, and tortured, a mysterious package arrives and you're…you again?" Spike nods, looking as confused as she did.
"Okay. So you had a life back in….Sunnydale was it? Why don't you back, be with the woman you fell for?" Spike smiles in thought, looking down at her briefly. "I'd rather her remember me as someone who saved the world," Bella hummed in thought, taking her spoon and dipping it into the vanilla scoop. "That's thoughtful of you," She murmurs. "Can I ask you something?" Spike suddenly asks, and Bella nods, turning her head towards him once more. "Once this is all over, what do you plan to do?" She paused for a moment, and Spike stops beside her, looking down at her curiously. They were the only two people on the street at the moment, currently on their way back home.
She shrugs, her brows furrowing. "I thought I'd be dead by now, so, I honestly don't know. Maybe finish school? I never got a chance to find a college once I graduated. I don't know," She continues to walk again, and Spike just mulls over her words. "What about your mother? Did Victoria get to her too?" Bella solemnly nods. "Police say a car accident, but I know better. Everyone died within weeks of each other. I could only assume so," Spike couldn't wait to get his hands on Victoria, and this so-called family. How do you leave a human alone in this world? If Bella had refused to come with him when he asked her just those few nights ago, he would have followed her anyway, just to be sure she was alright. Even if she said no after he killed that stray vampire, he wouldn't have been opposed to dragging her to Angel.
"I don't understand how they could just leave you," He thought, his lips pursed. It just didn't make any sense. He could hear Bella's heart skip as she composed herself for the moment. "Edward told me that Carlisle was too young, and people were starting to notice. I believed that he expected me to come with him, but he told me no, and that I wasn't good enough. His eyes were so cold. It's been almost 5 years, and I still remember the look on his face. I blame myself you know?" Spike scoffed in response to that but let her continue.
"He told me that he wasn't to be trusted and that I should leave, but I didn't. I loved him. I do blame them though, for leaving me alone. For leaving me defenseless. I can't just move on. I can't be happy or have friends because I know that the moment I do, she'll take it all away. I think that was why she let me go. She left me with nothing. Yet, she also wants me to be happy again so that this time, the blow will be even worse. Crippling even…He told me that it would be like he never existed, but the fact that he did exist, my life is now a living hell," Her voice had taken on a flat tone as she stared in front of her, her eyes hard, lips set in a frown. Spike drapes his arm over her shoulder, pulling her next to him. "Not for long love,"
Bella sighs, leaning into him. She nosed his jacket, smelling his unique scent, which faintly, dare she say, reminded her of sex. Spike suddenly comes to a stop, and Bella looks up at him curiously, going rigid as something faster than her eyes could see sped past them. Spike got a tighter hold on her, narrowing his eyes as he looked around. "You like to play games?" He called out, and Bella shivered at the tone of his voice. She stepped a bit closer to him, her fingers tightening around his shirt. Another brisk whoosh of air had Bella's hair flying, and she tried to keep her trembling at bay. The streetlight above them flickered, and Spike looked up. "Easy love," He soothed. "In my back pocket is a cell, and I want you to get it, and call Angel, okay?" Bella nods, and Spike removes his arm as two distinct flashes ran by them. Bella opens his phone, and finds his contacts, scrolling down to Angel's name, clicking the call button. She held it to her ear as it rang, turning to the side as she felt like they were being surrounded.
Spike was looking around, catching a glimpse, but didn't want to chase as it would leave Bella out in the open. Angel finally picked up, "What did you do?"
Bella would have chuckled if not for the situation. "Angel," She murmurs, swallowing heavily as Spike turned around in a circle, grabbing the back of her jacket. "Where's Spike? Where are you?"
Bella looks around for a street sign, unable to see so far. "We're just a few blocks from the firm. He's next to me, I don't know what's going on…" She gasps as Spike yanks her to the side, pressing her to the brick wall, his back to her.
"I'll find you,"
"Come on out, and let's handle this like a couple of men," Spike snaps out in a growl. Bella realizes that Angel had hung up, and she wondered how long it would take him. She can feel a pulsating in her brain, a need to protect herself, and Spike. They were definitely being surrounded. The streetlight flickered again, this time sparks popping from it as Bella gripped the back of Spike's jacket. She knew these were vampires, or more specifically one's like the Cullen's, and she wondered if it were them. If it were, why would they do this? Scare her? Why wouldn't they just come out?
She shrieks as a black mass lands beside her, and she sighs out as she realizes it's Angel. She wasn't sure who was more terrifying in their vampire form, Angel or Spike, but she was damn happy she wasn't on the receiving end. Angel lunges forward, catching one of the vampires by the throat, and Bella gasps. It was Carlisle. Carlisle struggled in his hold, and Angel squeezed tighter on his throat. "Call them off or I snap your neck," Carlisle raised his hand, and in a matter of seconds, Bella was facing some of her former family. It seemed that Alice, Rosalie, and Esme were nowhere to be found.
Spike doesn't relax, but takes Bella's hand, squeezing it to calm her nerves. Angel lets Carlisle go, crossing his arms over his chest. "This isn't Forks Mr. Cullen, or wherever you are used to. This is my city, and I won't have you hunting down one of my clients," Carlisle looks confused, turning his golden eyes towards Bella. "Your client?" Bella stares at Edward, whose eyes were pitch black as he glared daggers at Spike. "That one is dangerous. Surely if this is your city, you can't allow a human to walk freely with your kind," Spike straightens up, and he wraps an arm around Bella's waist, moving them forward a bit. "Glad you know who's the real threat around here, but trust me mate, she's in good hands. It's your kind however that proves to be quite….untrustworthy," Edward hisses, and Angel snaps his eyes to Edward. "Pick a fight with him when she's not around. We've been looking for you Cullen's. Where are the others? There's seven of you," Angel questions. "They're at a nearby hotel. What do you mean you've been looking for us?" Carlisle responds, looking in between Angel and Spike.
"How about you call the rest of your family and meet me and my team at the law firm over there. We'll be waiting. Spike, let's go," Spike leads Bella down the street, and Angel comes to step on the other side of her. "Bella!" Edward calls out, but she keeps walking, letting the feel of Spike's heavy grip keep her grounded.
