Harry's POV

This one's s mental. That was the only thought I had as I watched Athena creep along the floor.

It's not that I didn't believe her, she'd been certainly convinced that for some reason munchkins were in the house. I hadn't even known that munchkins were a real thing until she'd told me.

But then again, Athena knew a lot more about the magical world especially magical creatures then I did. Plus, she was never wrong (and if she was she apologized, something the Dursleys had never done).

So now here we were, crawling along the floor, covered in dust, to find it... somehow?

"Theny! Are you sure about this?" I croaked as another dust bunny tickled my nose. They weren't normal dust bunnies either, they were magic too. Uncle Remus despised them, as he was the one on dust duty.

"Of course I'm sure Harls, Sirius said they were out here in this hallway, so this is where we've got to search!" Athena responded, running her fingers along the baseboards.

"But-" "Shhh! Did you hear that!" Athena cut over me, eyes bright with excitement.

We listen for a second, sitting in complete silence (which is a very hard thing to do). I was about to complain to theny when I heard it. Something or someone, was talking on the other side of the final door in the hall.

More like grumbling actually, whoever was on the other side must be very cross. I turned to Athena in worry, but she looked elated.

"I knew it! Oh I knew it, I knew it, I KNEW IT!" She whispered, grabbing my arm and inching forward. I'd gotten better about people touching me, at least when it came to Athena.

"That must be the munchkin!" Athena cooed, mesmerized.

We were right next to the door now, and the grumbling was clearer as well. It sounded like the munchkin was cleaning, which made me nervous.

Grownups didn't like when you interrupted them, especially if they were cleaning. Aunt Petunia had once walloped me for asking to use the potty in the middle of washing dishes because of it. I grabbed Athena's hand to stop her from going in.

"What if it's not a nice munchkin, it sounds rather grumpy. You shouldn't talk or interrupt people when their grumpy." I informed her. She looked confused, but didn't argue.

"But-but, we HAVE to see it! That's what brave explorers do.And we're explorers!"

That's what Athena wanted to be of course, an explorer. Sabine had brought home a old world map after going shopping one day (and much like the Dursleys, he wasn't allowed to come), Athena had been ecstatic. Now it hung in their bedroom, covered in different colored push pins (Sirius found these fascinating), showing all the places she wanted to go.

I blinked at her in surprise. She wanted me to bean explorer with her? Sure she included me in everything, but that was only because there was no one else to play with, right?

Besides, I wasn't brave enough to be an explorer or an adventurer. I could barely muster up the courage to tell Sabine we'd ran out of toothpaste yesterday. Athena seemed to notice my doubts because she squeezed my hand.

"We can do it together, okay?" Athena said, standing up and facing the door. She looked brave, like a warrior. Like an explorer!

I took a deep breath and nodded, standing up as well. We locked hands(Dudley had once said that holding hands was for babies, but Remus said that he was wrong, and Remus is super smart) and counted to 3.

"1...2...3!" We flung the door open and looked around the room in horror. The walls had been torn apart, long scratch marks slit through the fancy wallpaper. Furniture had been thrown around and smashed. And on the floor, spread out like a blanket was a sheet with horribly blood-like stains on it.

We froze, stunned by what we saw. Then, at the exact same time, we turned to each other, and screamed. I grabbed Athena's arm and we bolted, stampeding down the stairs and shrieking madly.

We crashed into the kitchen, startling all three adults with our commotion.

"There was-"

"Upstairs-"

"Well what happened was-"

"The munchkins!"

"We're gonna die~"

That last one was Athena, who was now crying and making wild gestures to try and explain what happened. Sabine held Athena tightly,Sirius running over to hug me as we blubbered.

"Shh~ it's okay. Start from the beginning, what happened?" Remus asked, coming to kneel next to us.

Athena had smushed her face into her sister's chest, so I answer.

"*sniff* we were looking for munchkins, like Sirius said, and-"

"Munchkins?" Sabine asked, shooting Sirius a glare.

"Sirius said it was on the news, and the news never lies!" Athena piped up, still buried in the front of Sabine's shirt. Remus snorted at her words and I continued.

"And we heard this voice on the other side, so we went inside a-and..." I felt tears start running down my face and I cried into my godfathers arms. Padfoot looked confused and guilty, looking between uncle Remus and Sabine.

"Th-there was b-blood and s-scratches on the walls." Athena wailed, flinging herself back onto Sabine. The women in question looked, well a mix of a lot of things really. She stared at Sirius and Remus hard.

Uncle Sirius's eyes widened, uncle Remus looked up sharply, and they both locked eyes. They did that a lot, had whole conversation without saying a word, grownups were weird.

"Oh uh... kiddo that wasn't-that wasn't blood." Sirius finally choked out, turning to Athena. She didn't look convinced.

"B-but there was!" She argued, angry tears refilling her eyes. Sensing another wave of sobbing, uncle Remus moved over to her, grimacing as his bones cracked.

"No-it's uh... paint. Ya, we were going to paint in there, but some got on the floor." Sirius said hesitantly, hugging me a bit tighter.

Paint? That made sense, but what-

"Where did all the s-scratches come from?" Athena asked, staring up at uncle Remus in confusion. He glared over at uncle Sirius before turning back to the little girl.

"We... we don't know. They were there when we got here." He answered slowly, like he really had to think about what he said.

Neither girl looked convinced and Sabine had that look on her face that aunt Petunia got when she knew Dudley was lying about how many sweets he'd had. But just like aunt Petunia, she just pursed her lips and said nothing.

Uncle Remus sighed and opened his arms, beckoning us forward. Athena launch herself into the hug, quickly followed by me, that almost tipped the sandy-haired man over.

He rarely ever hugged people, uncle Sirius had said it was because people used to be mean to him and now he didn't like it. He must be really worried I thought, fighting the warm lovely feeling that spread through me as tucked myself into his shoulder. Uncle Remus began whispering into our ears so that only we could hear.

"It's okay cubs, I'm very sorry we scared you. You do know we didn't mean to , right?" We nodded against him and he continued.

"Right. Now I need you to promise me something, okay? Can you promise to never, EVER go back into that room again? Can you do that for me?"

Uncle Remus had pulled away just enough so that we could see his face, the stern look there making me shiver. To be honest, I did talk to Remus all that much. Really, I found his face scary and he always looked a bit sad. But now... now he had that same look he'd when we first arrived here, telling uncle Sirius to keep me safely behind him.

Regardless of my fear, I knew without a doubt that I could trust him. Uncle Sirius trusted him after all! So I promised along with Athena, who had tucked herself tightly into his side.

She didn't fear anyone, and I envied her for that. Uncle Remus looked a little surprise at the action, but it quickly morphed into a fond smile. He held me a bit tighter to, just sitting there for a moment as we snuggled up to him.

All at once, we pulled away, feeling much better then before. I looked at the other grownups, Sirius looked relieved that we weren't crying anymore. But Sabine looked harder, like she didn't believe uncle Remus at all.

They met eyes, a internal battle taking place. Finally, Sabine pulled back first, looking away.

"I think... that today is a good day to go shopping, whatcha think? Athena?" Sabine's voice was higher then usual, but I didn't think to much of it.

"Harry, how about you love, you want to come with us?" I lit up at her words. "Really! You mean it?!" I cried, jumping up and down in excitement.

I was never allowed to go shopping, aunt Petunia had forbidden it and uncle Remus said it was to dangerous. That's what he was saying now, standing up along with Sabine with a sharp look in his eyes.

"We've talkedabout-"

"Oh give him a break Lupin, poor kid never leaves the damn house!" I looked up in surprise. Sabine rarely cursed, and a bit off warmth filled me at her words.

Another staring contest later, this one making uncle Remus look away first and I could go.

"Come on! Let's go get ready. Last on there is a rotten pumpkin pasty!" Athena cried in excitement, both of us racing up the stairs, munchkins forgotten.

Woo~ finally done! Sorry it's not that great, next chapter will be better! Enjoy you summer break:)
