Hey everyone. Here is chapter 4, hope you like it. I do not own Blach or any characters from it.
It has been a month since the two men found out that they were expecting. Today was their next appointment with Unohana. They were excited about seeing their little bundle of joy and they were wanting to get there as soon as possible. They were going up there after work and poor Renji couldn't focus on his paperwork. They heard a knock on the door and Renji went to open it. As Renji opened the door, the door flew open, sending Renji flying to the floor.
"Big brother!" A familiar voice screamed. Byakuyas' head turned toward his little sister, knowing what she was there for. "Why didn't you tell me?" Rukia said while throwing her arms around her brothers' neck.
"Rukia, we just found out ourselves last month." Byakuya said softly.
"We are trying to wrap our heads around the whole thing too." Renji said getting up from the floor. "Damn Rukia, you couldn't wait for me to open the damn door." Renji said, rubbing the back of his head.
"Sorry, Renji. I'm just excited. Shocked, but excited." Rukia squealed. "Who found out first? How did it happen? Wait, I know how it happened, don't tell me that. Do you get to see it? Can you feel it?" Rukia kept going on and on, asking a million questions. Renji could tell his poor lover was getting stressed out so he spoke up.
"Rukia, stop!" Renji firmly demanded. Rukia stopped suddenly and looked at Renji. "Can't you tell you're stressing Byakuya out?" He asked her.
"Oh, I'm so sorry brother." She apologized, bowing to her brother. "So do you get to see it?" She asked.
"Yes, we were about to leave for an appointment with Unohana." Byakuya stated, standing up from his chair.
"Can I go, please?" Rukia pleaded to her brother.
"Not this time, Rukia. This is Renji and Is' first time seeing our baby. We would much rather do this one alone. Maybe next time." Byakuya explained to her.
"Awe, okay. Let me know how it goes." Rukia said while running out the door, waving back at the two men. Byakuya sighed, trying to control his nerves. He felt Renji standing in front of him. Renji wrapped his arms around his beloved captain and kissed his forehead.
"Let's go meet our baby." He told his dark-haired captain, softly. Byakuya nodded, taking Renjis' hand and they started toward the 4th division. A hell butterfly came in front of them. Renji held out his finger and let the little creature land on it. Lieutenant Abarai and Captain Kuchiki, you are to report to the 1st division Head Captain Yamamoto after your appointment with Unohana. They heard from the little creature before it flew away. They looked at each other curiously, before continued walking.
They got to the 4th division right on time. A squad member lead them to a room with a computer and a screen pointing toward the bed. "If you would just take off your top and have a seat on the bed, Captain Unohana will be with you shortly." The squad member told the dark-haired captain before stepping out the door. He did as he was told and sat on the bed. The 4th division captain entered the room with a smile on her face, as usual.
"Good afternoon, you two. Are you ready to see your baby?" She asked them.
"Hell yeah we are." Renji stated, excitedly. Unohana sat at the computer and pulled out a device with a round end and a bottle of blue gel.
"Now I have to say that it might now show much, seeing as you aren't that far along, but…" The door opened and in walked the 12th division captain Kurotsuchi. "Good afternoon, Captain Kurotsuchi. Can I help you?" She asked him.
"I am here to monitor the child, just as you are." She looked at the two men, questioningly.
"Could you give him an update when we are done? We kinda wanted to do the first time alone." Renji told her.
"Captain Kurotsuchi, I will update you on the babys' progression once we are done. If you could wait in the hall please." She said with a scary smile. He scoffed but went out the door.
"Thank you, Unohana." Byakuya said. She nodded and continued with what she was doing, squirting a small amount of gel onto the device.
"As I was saying, you might not see much, but hopefully we can see something. Don't be alarmed if we can't." They both nodded at her words, agreeing. "Alright, here we go." She said as she put the round end of the device on Byakuyas' stomach. The gel was kind of cool to the touch but it didn't hurt.
"Byakuya, look. There it is." Byakuya sighed and looked at the screen. He saw a little spot on the left side of the screen. Byakuya couldn't stop the tears from falling from his face, nor did he try to stop them. Renji held his captains' hand and kissed his forehead. "That's our baby." Renji whispered to his captain. Renjis eyes started tearing up themselves as the two watched the screen with love.
Unohana printed a picture out for them to take home and stepped out of the room. Byakuya put his top back on and his captains' haori. He handed the picture to Renji, which he took with love. He put the picture on the inside of his top and took Byakuyas hand once more. They walked out of the building and headed toward the 1st division. Once they got there, they let go of each others' hands and Renji knocked on the door. The doors opened and they saw all the captains and lieutenants standing there. They all bowed to the 6th division captain and lieutenant. Some were smiling and some weren't.
"Come in you two." Captain Yamamoto said, motioning them with his hand. He was smiling, softly at the two of them. They walked up to the head captain and stood in front of him. The head captain stood up and started talking. "As we all know the war is finally over. The soul society has went through major damage, but we have put most of it back together. It is now time for a new beginning and with the help of Captain Kurotsuchi, you two have made a life together. We are all happy for you, but we have a small issue at hand." He paused for a moment, looking at the captains and lieutenants. Renji looked back at them and saw some of them nod, while smiling.
"The two of you are of the same division and once the child is born, you will have to be out of work for a couple of weeks with no one to help your squads. So we have all agreed that it was time for you Renji Abarai to become a captain of the 13 court guard squads." Renji and Byakuyas eyes went wide and they were speechless. "We have an opening in the 3rd division and we would all be proud if you accepted the position of captain.
Renji bowed to the head captain and spoke, "I would be honored to be the captain of the 3rd division, sir." They heard clapping and cheering from behind them. Renji smiled at Byakuya who didn't look too happy about it. Renji saw Byakuya flash step away and he ran after him. "Byakuya!" He yelled for his lover. "Not again." He said to himself. He flash stepped to the Kuchiki manor and into their room. He didn't see Byakuya there, nor did he find him in the bathhouse. Maybe he's at the 6th division. Renji made his way to the 6th division and walked in. He felt a small amount of Byakuyas' reiatsu that was left behind. "Byakuya!" He yelled again. "Dammit." The red-head cursed.
The red-head sat in his now old chair at his old desk, with his face in his hands. He didn't know why Byakuya took off like that and the dark-haired captain didn't want to be found right now, so all Renji could do was sit there and wait. "What did I do, Byakuya?" He asked to himself.
The dark-haired captain was in a field of flowers that he would go to when he had to think and be alone. In the center of the field was a lonely sakura tree by a small pond. Byakuya sat down at the bottom of the tree. He looked up at the sky as a sakura flower fell. He held out his right hand to catch the flower and had the left resting on his still flat stomach.
Tears started falling from his eyes. You have turned me into such an emotional mess, little one. Why am I so upset about this? I should be happy for Renji. He has earned this. He's been through so much and I love him. Why can't I be supportive of this? Hisana, please I need your guidance. He thought to himself. Just then he felt something flutter in his stomach. Was that you, little one? It's too early to feel you isn't it?" The dark-haired captain concentrated his reiatsu to the center of his stomach. He went deep enough to feel his child, but not enough to hurt it. The babys' reiatsu felt like it was jumping or maybe moving. Was I hurting you, my child? I apologize if I was. I'll try to stay calm more. He sighed and looked up at the sky again. He closed his eyes and rested there until sleep overcame him.
It was now dark outside and Renji was getting really worried. He ran out of the 6th division swearing to himself he would find his lover if it was the last thing he did. He looked all over the soul society until he felt the familiar reiatsu he loved so much. The Rukongai? Why is he here? Renji saw a field with a sakura tree in the middle. That's why. He thought to himself. He went up to the tree and saw Byakuya sitting underneath it, asleep. He smiled softly at his beloved man, before picking him up gently as not to wake him and flash stepped away.
Renji made his way into their room and laid Byakuya gently on the bed. He went to take a bath in the bathhouse, but before he did he gave Byakuya a kiss on the forehead and whispered, "I love you" to his lover.
The red-head rested his back to the bank and closed his eyes. He thought about his lover, when his stomach will be bigger, when he will be holding their baby in his arms, when he himself would get the nerve to ask his beloved to marry him. He felt a familiar presence behind him. He tilted his head back and saw Byakuya standing there, naked and blushing. Renji thought that was so cute and adorable. Then he saw that he wasn't blushing, he had been crying. Renji got out of the hot water and put his arms around his lover.
"I'm sorry, Renji." Byakuya cried in his chest. "This pregnancy is hell. I've never been this emotional before without being able to control it."
"Byakuya, no matter what, I will always be here. Just stop running away from me. You worried the hell out of me." Renji told him.
"Do you think I cannot take care of myself?" Byakuya asked, getting irritated.
"What, no. I know you can, I just… I worry about you. It's got nothing to do with whether you can take care of yourself or not." Renji explained.
"You really think I can't take care of myself. I can't believe you, Renji." Byakuya said, grabbing his clothes and started walking away. Renji grabbed his arm and pulled him into his arms. "Let me go, Renji!" Byakuya demanded.
"No, just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you can run away from me. I love you Byakuya, that is why I worry. So stop running from me, dammit." He said, still holding his lover in his arms.
"Renji…" Byakuya started crying again. "I'm sorry." Renji sighed into Byakuyas hair.
"This pregnancy is going to be the death of me. It's like your emotions are getting worse every month." Renji stated.
"It seems that way. Let's just get a bath and something to eat so we can go to bed." Byakuya told him, calmly.
Renji and Byakuya sat at the table as they waited for their food to be brought out. Onc ethe food was on the table Renji dug in, Byakuya was staring at it not moving. Renji noticed this and looked at his lover concerned. Byakuya got up slowly and made his way out of the room. Renji followed and found Byakuya bent over and hurling his guts out onto the ground outside. Renji held his hair back and rubbed his back softly. "I don't know how much more of this I can take. It's only been two months." Byakuya stated after emptying his stomach from his lunch that day.
"I'm sorry, babe. Do you want some tea?" Renji asked him. Byakuya simply nodded and Renji picked him up and walked to the bedroom. Sitting his lover on the bed, Renji went off to fetch his tea. Byakuya looked out the window, thinking of the months to come. Renji walked in and handed the tea to Byakuya. He sipped the tea slowly as Renji sat there in front of him. Renji grabbed the dark-haired captains' feet and started rubbing them.
"You don't have to do that, love." Byakuya told him.
"I want to." Renji stated. "I want to ask you something." Byakuya took another sip of his tea.
"I don't know why I was upset earlier. I guess it's because I've always had you beside me at the 6th division and I don't know what to do now that you're going to be a captain yourself. The thought of not seeing you all day is upsetting to me." Renji smiled softly at his lovers words.
"I'll always come home to you, at least you'll have that to look forward to at the end of the day." Renji explained. Byakuya smiled at his lover. He put his tea down and crawled up to his lover. He sat on his lap with his legs on either side of his lover. He wrapped his arms around Renjis' neck and kissed him passionately. Renji deepened the kiss and took his lover by the waist, laying him down softly on the futon. Renji pulled away, breathlessly, placing his forehead to his lovers' and looking in his dark eyes. Byakuya put his hands on either side of his lovers' face.
"I love you, Renji." He said softly.
"I love you too, Byakuya." Renji started kissing his lover again, his hand making its' way down Byakuyas' body and back up, grabbing his ass. Renji kissed his way down Byakuyas' jaw and nibbling his earlobe. He went down to the crook of Byakuyas' neck and bit it softly. Byakuya moaned softly, as Renji worked his magic on his dark-haired lovers' neck, that only he could do. Byakuya felt another wave of nausea hit him and he pushed Renji off, running out the door, leaving his red-haired lover confused.
Renji went out and saw Byakuya bent over again, emptying his stomach some more. He did the same as he did before, rubbing his back while holding his hair back. After he was done retching, the poor dark-haired captain stood up while holding his stomach. He turned to his red-haired lover who wrapped his arms around his waist. "I'm sorry, love." Renji smiled softly at him and kissed his forehead.
"Nothing to be sorry about. How about we just lay down." Renji stated.
"That sounds nice, after I brush my teeth." Renji nodded and went to the room, while Byakuya went to brush his teeth.
They laid in bed and cuddled each other. Renji was on his back, looking up at the ceiling. Byakuya had his head resting on his lovers now naked chest, while tracing his tattoos with his fingers, like he does every night. Renji felt Byakuyas breathing steady and he reached into his pocket and brought out the same small blue box that Byakuya looked at before. He opened the box and it showed a small diamond with three tiny diamonds on either side of it. The band was white gold and it took him almost 5 months to get. Renji didn't believe it was good enough for his beloved nobleman, but it was all he could afford.
He sighed and closed the box, putting it back in his pocket. He looked down at the peaceful face of his sleeping lover and smiled softly. "One day, I will be a man and ask you. I just want it to be the proposal you deserve, babe." He whispered softly. "I love you, babe." He noticed his beautiful captain smile in his sleep and he smiled too. You deserve the world. Renji thought to himself as sleep overcame him as well.
