Hello my pretties! I just have to say thank you to everyone that has followed or favorited my first story! It has brought me so much happiness to know you like it. Well here is Chapter 5. I don't own bleach or any characters.
Today was Renjis first day as captain of the 3rd division and he was excited. He put his captains haori on and looked at himself in the mirror. "I look good." He said to himself. He felt arms go around his waist and a head lay on his back. It was easy to know it was his beloved nobleman. He turned around in Byakuyas' arms and saw him crying. "What's wrong, babe?" Byakuya shook his head and smiled.
"Nothing, love. I'm just going to miss you with me everyday." The dark-haired man told his lover softly.
"I'll come visit you at lunch alright? And I'll be here tonight." Renji said, trying to comfort his lover. Renji gave him a hug and kissed his forehead. Byakuya nodded and hugged him back.
They walked outside the Kuchiki manor and took off toward their designated posts after giving each other a kiss goodbye. Byakuya made it to the 6th division and entered the building slowly. It was quiet inside his office, a little too quiet for his taste. He had gotten use to having Renji looking up at him and smiling greeting him at his desk. He even missed red-haired lovers tomfoolery when he didn't want to do paperwork. His dark eyes started filling with tears and he let them fall as he sat at his desk and started his morning routine.
Renji was already dreading all of the paperwork he had to do. He took a breath and started his new task. Halfway through them, he leaned back in his chair and thought about his dark-haired lover. The poor red-haired man was so worried about the nobleman. He looked at the clock and saw that he still had two hours before he could see his lover. He sighed and got back to work.
It was now time for lunch and Renji was so excited to see his beloved nobleman. He went over to the door and opened it. Once it was open he felt arms go around his neck. "Renji!" He looked down and saw the dark hair of his lover. He knew it was him by his kenseikan. He wrapped his arms around his lover and they stood there holding each other for a few minutes.
"Byakuya, how did you get here so fast?" Renji asked his lover, breaking the silence.
"I finished my paperwork early so I could get here sooner." The nobleman told him.
"Awe, I love you." Renji told him, squeezing him gently.
"I love you too." The dark-haired man said in response. The two of them ate their meals at Renjis new desk and talked for a bit. They heard a loud crash come from outside. They looked at each other then took off to where the noise came from. They saw a rip in the sky and a hallow coming toward them. Renji took out his sword and called for it, "Roar, Zabimaru!" He took care of the hallow fairly quickly, but when he looked back he saw Byakuya was surrounded.
Byakuya stood there and calmly unsheathed his sword. "Scatter, Senbonzakura," Byakuya says and cherry blossoms form from his sword, cutting the hollows down instantly. More hollows start coming for them. The two keep attacking but more keep coming.
"Dammit, where are they coming from?" Renji cursed. He was trying his best to protect his lover and his unborn child, even though he knew Byakuya could handle himself.
"Renji, go to the rip in the sky and see if you can close it. I'll handle these creatures." Byakuya says, slicing a hollow in half.
"Are you nuts? I'm not leaving you alone." Renji shouted from behind him.
"Renji, we have to keep more from coming down or there is no stopping it." Byakuya stated. Renji cursed under his breath, knowing Byakuya was right. He took off in a hurry, wanting to get this over with. He saw someone standing at the edge of the rip. The figure went into the rip and it was starting to close. Renji flash stepped to the figure but it closed before he could get to it.
"Dammit!" Renji cursed. "Who was that?" He asked himself. He turned around and went back to Byakuya without a second thought. He was halfway to his dark-haired lover when he saw a hollow attack Byakuya from behind. Its' stinger went through the top of Byakuyas stomach. "NO!" Renji screamed and seeing red, he took off faster than he had ever ran. He slashed through the hollows and picked up Byakuya from the ground. He took off toward the 4th division, tears falling from his eyes. "Stay with me, babe. Please, stay with me."
The red-haired captain got to the 4th division in no time. Unohana saw Renji coming in with blood soaked clothes and an unconscious Byakuya in his arms. She motioned for him to follow her and they rushed him in a room. More shinigamis came in trying to help the 6th division captain. "Captain Abarai, could you give us some room, please."
"I'm not leaving him." Renji said through tears.
"It's best for him if you go out in the hall and wait. We will update you soon. We need to try and help him and your child." Unohana told him with a soft tone in her voice. He did as he was told and went out into the hall. He put his back to the wall and slumped down, arms across his knees and tears freely falling from his eyes.
"Please, Kami, please help them. I can't live without Byakuya and I don't know what we will do if we lost our child." Renji prayed to whatever god or gods out there to help his beloved nobleman and their child. He didn't know what to do or how to act so he sat there for hours, crying until a 4th division Shinigami came out and stood before him. He stood up and just watched any sign of hope in her eyes.
"Captain Abarai, Captain Kuchiki is stable for now and…"
"Our baby?" He asked, nervously.
"I'm sorry Captain Abarai… the baby didn't make it." Renji fell to the floor and cried, screaming and punching the floor.
"Dammit, dammit, dammit…" Renji cursed at every punch to the floor. "I knew I should've stayed with him. I knew it! Dammit!" He screamed again. "I have to see him." Renji said as he stood up and took off into the room. He saw the nobleman laying there sleeping.
"He hasn't woken up yet, but you can stay in here until he does." She told Renji and walked out of the room. Renji brought a chair over to the side of the bed. He took Byakuyas hand, kissing it then sitting down. The red-haired man cried as he watched over his lover, rubbing his hand with his thumb.
"I'm so sorry, Byakuya. I shoulda been there with you. I'm… I'm so sorry." He apologized as he laid his head on the bed crying in the sheets. Renji fell asleep with his head resting next to his lover.
Byakuya woke up and felt a hand in his. He looked over to see his red-haired lover sleeping peacefully. He took his hand back and rested it on the fire locks of his lover. He tried to sit up but felt a jolt of pain from his stomach. His eyes went wide and he was about to cry but felt Renji stir. He looked at his lover and saw those brown eyes looking back at him. He saw Renji had been crying and looked at his blood-soaked clothes. Byakuyas' tears started falling from his eyes. He knew what that meant.
"I'm so sorry, babe." Renji told him, reaching for his hand. Byakuya pulled his hand away and looked the other way, tears still falling. "Byakuya, please look at me. Please." Renji asked him. The dark-haired man stayed quiet and kept looking the other way.
During the rest of their stay at the 4th division Byakuya never said a word and barely looked at Renji. He didn't feel like talking or eating. Renji was persistent in his effort to get Byakuya to eat. Now it was time for them to return home, after two weeks. They entered the Kuchiki manor and everything seemed different. The dark-haired nobleman went straight to the bedroom and laid in his futon, Renji right behind him. He laid there still not wanting to look at his lover.
"Byakuya?" Renji asked, still nothing. He tried putting his arm around his lover, but was pushed away. Renji knew the man was going through a horrible, traumatic experience, but he would still stay with his lover no matter how cold and distant he was. "I love you…" He said and turned the other way and fell asleep, a tear rolling down his cheek.
The next day was a Saturday so the two men were off work. Renji knew it was going to be hard, but he wouldn't let that stop him from spending time with his lover. Byakuya wanted to stay in bed, but he knew Renji wouldn't let him. He got out of bed and made his way to the dining table. He saw Renji sitting there and smiled at his lover once he saw him. Byakuya knew he was forcing that smile at him, but he couldn't even bring himself to do that.
After breakfast, the red-haired man grabbed his lovers hand leading him outside. No matter how hard Byakuya tried to get his hand back his lover would not let go. Byakuya sighed after being outside and stopped resisting. The dark-haired man felt arms going around him and he tried his best to push his lover away, but to no avail. "Let me go, Renji." The dark-haired man demanded.
"No, Byakuya." Renji rejected, just happy that he finally said something. The dark-haired man finally stopped resisting after a few moments, tears stinging his eyes. "I know you're hurting, so am I. No matter how cold or distant you are to me, I will always be here." He comforted his lover.
"No you won't!" Byakuya yelled. Renjis' eyes went wide and his grip lightened. Byakuya found that opening and took off. Renji stood there stunned, not moving an inch. Why would he say that? Why would he think such a thing? Have I given him a reason? I don't think I have. Renji thought to himself. He snapped back to reality and took off to find his lover once more.
He checked everywhere and still couldn't find him. He had looked in both the Kuchiki manor and the 6th division, the sakura tree he found him at before, and even the 3rd division, but nothing. It was now sundown and Renji was exhausted, but that wasn't going to stop him. He was walking back to the Kuchiki manor to look there again, but saw Byakuya talking to Unohana in front of the 4th division. "Byakuya!" He yelled out to his lover.
They saw Renji running up to them. "Thank you, Unohana." She nodded and walked back in the building. Byakuya started walking toward the Kuchiki manor when he was stopped by Renjis hand yanking him into a hug. "Not here. Renji." He said, not moving.
"What do you mean, not here?" Renji asked his lover, pulling away.
"I think we need to talk. At the Kuchiki manor." He told the red-haired man. He turned and started back to the manor. Renji tagged along and followed him there. The two men made their way into their room and Byakuya sat on the futon. Renji stood there, not doing anything.
"So what's up?" Renji asked.
"I think you may want to sit down." Renji sat down beside Byakuya, waiting on the dark-haired man to answer his question. Byakuya let out a deep sigh and started talking. "Renji, I love you, but I can't…" Byakuya paused tears stinging his eyes. With his voice breaking he continued, "I can't… be with… you…" Byakuya tried his best not to cry, but he felt his own heart breaking. He watched Renjis' hands clinch into fist and he eyes went dark.
Renji didn't want to yell at the man, but what he just said was raging inside his head. He stood up and ran out the door. Renji made his way to the training ground and as he saw the training posts he took out his zanpakuto and called out its' name. He sliced one post in half and then another. He tore up the training ground, not easing his pain one bit. Zabimaru got stuck on the biggest post so Renji let it go and started punching it until his hands were bleeding. He finally stopped and even though his hands were throbbing he took Zabimaru and sheathed it back.
He fell to his knees and thought to himself, can't be with me? What the hell is he talking about? Why is he choosing now of all times to fucking say that? He had plenty of times to tell me to fuck off, but no he stayed with me. We were going to have a baby together, for petes' sake. What the hell is going on with him? Renji sighed and took off back to the manor. He was going to give Byakuya a piece of his mind. He walked past the gate and some rooms, heading for their room. He heard Byakuyas' voice, so he stopped and listened.
"Yes, grandfather. Renji and I will no longer be seeing each other." Byakuya said.
"Good, I didn't want you with him anyway. Now we can work on getting a true noble heir to the Kuchiki name." The voice of the old man responded.
"Yes, grandfather. I will try my best to make you proud again."
"I know you will, my son." Renjis' eyes stung and he punched the wall before taking off again.
The two men in the room heard the thud and Byakuya felt Renjis' reiatsu fade away. He didn't know Renji was even there and now he really messed up. He didn't think Renji would come back. "Excuse me, grandfather." He said, bowing to the old man. He took off in a hurry, knowing he had to explain to the redhead before he did something stupid.
Renji entered the 3rd division, not really knowing where else to go. He walked past his desk to the back of the building to the captains quarters. He looked around, knowing it would be empty. He laid in the floor and just stared at the ceiling. Why is he doing this? Breaking my heart, telling his grandfather he would have an heir with someone he doesn't love. What is he doing? Fuck him, fuck this love shit! I'm done. He said getting up. He took the little box out of his pocket and through it across the room. He took off out the door and up to the 1st division. Byakuya went to the 3rd division and felt Renjis' reiatsu wasn't there but he was there a few minutes ago.
The dark-haired man went back to the room Renjis' reiatsu lingered at. He looked around and saw something on the floor. He picked up the little blue box he had seen when Renji was putting his stuff away. It was opened and he saw that it was empty. He looked around to find what was in it. He saw something shining a few feet from him. The dark-haired man walked over to it and picked it up. He saw a very pretty ring and on the inside it read, 'my beloved, Byakuya.'
Tears started falling from the captains eyes as he gripped the ring tightly in his fist. He was going to propose. I'm such an idiot. The dark-haired captain thought to himself. He flash stepped away and out the door, following Renjis' fading reiatsu.
"Do you have anything I can do in the living world?" Renji asked the head captain.
"I suppose you could help Ichigo Kurosaki with the rising hollow issue." The old man told him.
"Anything, sir." He said, bowing.
"You have a week, then you will need to come back." The man commanded Renji.
"Thank you, sir." Renji bowed again and took off. He was at the door to the living world about to go in. He looked back as a single tear fell and out he went. Byakuya saw the door closing and he flash stepped to reach it in time.
"Renji!" He yelled out, but the gate closed as he was a foot from the door. The dark-haired man stood there just staring out toward the now closed gate.
Okay, so don't hate me for this chapter. I promise it's not the last we will see of Renji. He will just be in the living world for a chapter or two. So, what do you think is going to happen next. Drop me some reviews and let me know what you think. Love you all!
