Chapter 9 Leading up to the chunin exams

Naruko and Sakura were waiting for Kakashi and Sasuke, Sakura asked Naruko if she had gone on a date with Sasuke which she confirmed, Sakura was a little saddened but she had hopes maybe Sasuke would love her, but it was wishful thinking, they had been waiting for a while when Kakashi showed up
"Kakashi-sensei is here before Sasuke-kun!?" Sakura and Naruko said in disbelief as Kakashi waved, meanwhile Sasuke was slowly making his way trying not to get seen by any fan girls, the rumours had spread like wildfire and he had more then a dozen girls confess their love to him.
Sasuke had finally thought he had escaped from the fangirls when he heard "Sasuke-kun! I love you!" from behind him and saw it was more then 15 girls running at him.
Sasuke threw down 3 smoke bombs as he made a run for it, he Hide in an alleyway
'Stupid fangirls, I can't even get to my team' he thought as he climbed a building and started jumping from rooftop, to rooftop.
After a little bit he reached his team, "Sasuke-kun! Why are you so late?" Naruko asked as Sasuke grunted "stupid fangirls, ino's rumours" Sasuke said as Naruko laughed at his misfortune,
"Alright team we got some D-ranks" Kakashi said as everyone sighed and started getting to work.
They did everything from, painting fences, to picking up trash from river, Sasuke was Constantly looking behind his back, to make sure no fangirls would see him.
"Sasuke-kun would you relax, there is no way I would let any fangirls near you" Naruko said trying to ease the worried uchiha, Sasuke just sighed "yea, but I can't go anywhere without 10 to 15 girls following me, and confessing their love" Sasuke said as they continued to work.
"Good job team" Kakashi said as they finished there work, "So can we leave now Kakashi-sensei?" Sasuke asked as Kakashi gave him an eye smile "you guys can go now since the D-ranks are done, I'll go give the mission report" Kakashi said as he shunshined away, Sakura, Sasuke and Naruko were walking to the training ground while Sasuke and Naruko were holding hands and walking, When Naruko noticed a box shaped rock? Following them,
she turned around and saw the ''rock'' had holes of eyes "you know rocks aren't Square?" Naruko said "you got us again boss" the rock said as 3 smoke bombs went off.
As the smoke cleared three kids were on the ground coughing "I think we used too much gun powder" one of the kids said as Naruko and Sasuke looked at them unimpressed
"Who are these kids?" Sasuke asked as the kids got up "I'm moegi!" The girl now identified as moegi said, "I'm Udon!" The boy with glasses said, "and I'm konohamaru!" The boy with a long scarf said,
"Yeah, I knew it was you, konohamaru-kun, why are you guys wearing goggles on your head?" Naruko asked "you used to wear goggles, remember?" Konohamaru said with a grin, Naruko just sighed "so do you guys want something?" Naruko asked "you said you'd play ninja with us today!" Moegi said,
"Why would a ninja play ninja?" Sasuke asked as konohamaru noticed Naruko and Sasuke were holding hands "boss, is this your boyfriend?!" Konohamaru asked as Sasuke and Naruko blushed, "yeah" Naruko said rubbing the back of her head.
"Your boyfriend is that emo uchiha that all the girls were running after?!" Konohamaru said, "oi, don't say that about Sasuke-kun" Naruko said "but it's true, and he's always so arrogant" Konohamaru said and ran as Naruko chased after him; Sasuke, udon, Sakura, and moegi were running after the two, when Konohamaru ran into someone with a black bodysuit and face paint, "need anything kid?" The guy asked,
With Kakashi…
"Thanks for the report Kakashi-san, is Naruko-Chan getting along with the other students? I haven't t seen" Iruka asked "yeah, well Sakura is tolerating her, and she's in a relationship with Sasuke, I always see them together, and they train together" Kakashi said as iruka smiled "that's good to hear Kakashi-san" iruka said,
Back with team 7…
"Let konohamaru down!" Naruko said as she glared at the guy "you should watch where your going punk" he said "let him down Kankuro, were in a different village" the girl said to the boy named Kankuro,
Kankuro looked at Naruko forehead protector ' so these are the konoha genin ' Kankuro thought "let the kid down" Sasuke said as he glared at Kankuro
"Now, who is this punk acting all tough" Kankuro asked mockingly "an uchiha" Sasuke said as activated his sharingan, Kankuro let konohamaru down as he backed away 'shit, not good, I'm not a fan of getting caught in an uchiha genjutsu' Kankuro thought,
Suddenly they felt a dark presence " Kankuro, temari you're an embarrassment to our village" a red haired boy said while standing on a tree, "h-hey garaa" Kankuro said with fear in his voice, 'how did he get there? He didn't even make a noise' Sasuke thought
With Kakashi…
"I have summoned you here, I hope you understand why just by seeing your fellow jonin's here" hiruzen said "so soon? I thought we would have some more time" Kakashi said, "I take it all the other villages have been notified about the chunin exams" asuma said,
"So when do we start, hokage-same? Kurenai asked "we will start in one week" hiruzen said as smoked from his pipe, 'that's a pretty short notice' Kakashi thought "seven days from now on the first of July, the chunin exams will begin, so train your genin well" hiruzen said as he Dismissed the jonin
Back with team 7…
"Have you forgotten why we came all the way here?" Garaa asked "I know, I-I mean they-" before Kankuro could finish "shut up, or I'll kill you" garaa said as he glared at Kankuro "right I was out of line, I-I'm sorry garaa" Kankuro said fearfully, garaa turn to Sasuke and the others "I'm sorry for any trouble he caused" garaa said, 'this guy as an evil feeling about him, but I don't know why' Sasuke thought, 'he stop Kankuro with a glare, this guy is someone to keep an eye on' garaa thought, "let's go" garaa said as Kankuro and temari followed him
"Hey wait, I know your from suna, we allies but you can't enter the village without reason, so State your reason" Sakura said, "have you been living under a rock? We have permission" temari said as she showed them a piece of paper "we are here for the chunin exams" temari said, "the chunin exams?" Naruko thought out loud "the chunin exams are were genin's are promoted to the rank of chunin" Sasuke said, "ah, thanks Sasuke-kun" Naruko said as she kissed Sasuke on the cheek, 'ah, the uchiha has a girl' temari thought dejectedly,
"Hey you, identify yourself" Sasuke said as garaa looked at him "I'm sabaku no garaa, and you would be?" Garaa said, "I'm uchiha Sasuke" Sasuke said with a smirk, 'an uchiha, this is getting interesting' garaa thought, "I bet you're dying to know my name" Naruko said cheerfully, "I couldn't care less" garaa said as Naruko face planted onto the ground "that's not nice!" Naruko said as Sasuke patted her on the back,
"Let's go, temari, Kankuro" garaa said as they left, 'thing's are getting interesting' Sasuke thought, in a tree "what do you think Dosu?" One Otogakure genin asked "the usual weaklings,nothing special,but the boy from the uchiha clan and the desert rat,we should watch them carefully" dosu said.
"Let's go train Sasuke-kun" Naruko said as she put her head on Sasuke's shoulder, "let's go Naruko-Chan" Sasuke said as they left
With Kakashi…
"As you know it is time to select genin for the chunin exams, we will begin with the rookie team, Kakashi, asuma, kurenai step forward, as is Standard procedure a genin team must have completed 8 or more missions to enter, so do you think any of your genin are capable of entering the chunin exams? So Kakashi you begin" Hiruzen said, "I am the jonin sensei of team 7, uchiha Sasuke, uzumaki Naruko, haruno sakura. I, Hatake Kakashi, recommend all three of these genin for the chunin exams." Kakashi said,
"I am the jonin sensei of team 8, Hyuga Hinata, inuzuka kiba, aburame shino. I yuhi kurenai, recommend all three" kurenai said, "I'm the jonin sensei of team 10, yamanaka ino, nara shikamaru, akimichi choji. I asuma sarutobi, recommend all three.
"Hokage-Sama" iruka said as he stepped forward, "yes iruka-san?" Hiruzen enquired, "with all due respect, all the nine genin were my students, I know there skill, I know they have great potential, but it's a little too early for them, they need more training and experience" iruka said, "I became a chunin when I was six years younger then Naruko" Kakashi said, "Naruko is nothing like you! Are you trying to destroy her?" Iruka said, "iruka-San listen they WERE your students, but NOW they are my students" Kakashi said,
"but there to-" before iruka finish, "Iruka-San you have to understand they are no longer your students, I know how you feel, but there my students, even if they fail this time there is always next time" Kakashi said, "but you know the exams could destroy them" iruka said, "iruka-san enough, you have made your point. accordingly, I have decided that the best thing to do is to hold a special preliminary test" hiruzen said as he blew smoke from his pipe, " a preliminary test?" Iruka asked.
The next day…
Team 7 was wait for Kakashi, "WHY DOES KAKASHI-SENSEI TAKE MORE THEN 2 HOURS TO GET HERE?!" Sakura asked "it's not fair, he tells us to be on time but he never is!" Naruko said, 'this is the first thing in the morning I have to hear, why do Naruko-Chan and Sakura have to be so loud' Sasuke thought as he sighed.
"Yo, good morning everyone, sorry for being late I got lost on the road of life" Kakashi said as he appeared, "you lair!" Naruko and Sakura said as Sasuke sighed "you outta be more cheerful Sasuke-kun" Naruko said as she kissed him on the cheek, "I now this is sudden, but I recommended you three for the chunin exams" Kakashi said as he pulled out three pieces of paper "These are application forms",
"Application forms?" Sakura asked, "your repeating me Sakura, this is all voluntary, it's up to each of you. If you don't feel ready, you can wait until next time" Kakashi said as Naruko hugged him, "yeah, Kakashi-sensei your the best" Naruko said "yea, yea calm down, whoever want's to take the exams, sign the application and come to room 301 at the academy. It's at 3:00pm five days from now. That's all" Kakashi said.
Later…
"Hmm, chunin exams, I'll be up against a lot of powerful ninja! Naruko said, 'if I win the chunin exams, I'll be one step closer to becoming hokage' she thought as she giggled, "Naruko-Chan we still have to train you know?" Sasuke as he put his arm around her shoulder, 'I hope I get to fight that garaa kid' Sasuke thought as he scowled,
'This is hopeless, I can't keep up with Sasuke-kun, I can't even keep up with that Naruko-Baka. I'll never pass these exams'
The next day…
"Boss will you play ninja with us today?" Konohamaru asked "sure I have some time before training with Sasuke-kun" Naruko said as a amegakure nin appeared and grabbed moegi "oi, let moegi go!" Naruko said as they nin jumped away,
"Don't let him get away!" Naruko said as they started following the nin, "let moegi go your creep!" Naruko as she saw a tied up moegi, "I thought more of konoha ninja, but now I see your just a bunch of weaklings" the nin said, "what are you doing with moegi!?" Naruko asked, "what am I doing? That's your question!?" He said a he put a kunai to moegi's throat, "if you move the brats finished" he said "what do you want, she's just a kid. Let her go!" Naruko said in rage,
"I want the forbidden scroll of seals, give it to me and I'll let the girl go" the ame nin said, as Naruko hit by some déjà vu
Somewhere in the village…
Sakura was just sitting around thinking, if she would take the chunin exam, when.
"Sakura" Sakura heard from behind, as she turned around it was Sasuke
"Sasuke-kun? What are you doing here?" Sakura confused
"Let's go on a walk just me and you" Sasuke said as they began walking, after walking for a bit Sakura asked "Sasuke-kun why are you talking a walking with me alone all of a sudden?",
"Because, I wanted to tell you not to take the chunin exams" Sasuke said as Sakura sighed, she had thought as much,
"You're far to wake, you'd die in the exams" Sasuke said as the ame nin appeared "haha, how touching" the nin said
"Get lost, or you'll regret it" Sasuke said as he turned to look at the nin
"You making me regret anything?hahahaha you're too confident in yourself boy!" The nin said as he threw Multiple kunai at Sasuke.
"Alright, now I'm really mad!" Sasuke said as he ran at the nin, Sasuke threw a kunai to block a kunai, but it split into multiple kunai
"Sasuke-kun watch out!" Sakura yelled as the kunai hit Sasuke, as the body of Sasuke lay on the ground dead, Sakura just stood there shocked
With Naruko
"Don't just stand there brat, hurry up and get the scroll!" The ame nin said as he put the kunai closer to moegi's throat.
"Oh yea right, what happens if I say no?" Naruko asked as she start moulding her chakra, "Then I guess you don't care about the girl.", "what girl? All I see is two dummies" Naruko said as the ame nin turned around to see moegi had been substituted with a dummie,
"What, where'd she go!?" The nin asked enraged "right here with the greatest Kunoichi in the world!" Naruko said as she stood with moegi on a tree
"You brats, I'll get you for this!", "you don't know when you're outclassed!" Naruko said as three Kage bunshin threw Shuriken attached to ninja wire and pinned the nin to the tree.
"Boss we're here!" Konohamaru said as he and udon ran up, "finally, you guys are so slow!" Naruko said as she and moegi jumped down from the tree, "boss did you get that creep?" Udon asked, "yea I got him right here" Naruko said with a grin, as she turned around she saw the nin was gone,
"What the hell?!" Naruko said "he substituted himself!" Konohamaru said "stupid copycat!" Naruko yelled, "I see" the nin said as he shunshined away
Back with Sakura
"Hahahaha! He's dead, just like how you'd be if you take the exams!" The ame nin said while laughing, Sakura started laughing "you think you"re some smart ass? I saw right through that genjutsu right from the start, Sasuke-kun asking me out, when he just had a date with Naruko-Baka? Then acting like he cared about me? Yeah, like he'd ever do that!" Sakura said mockingly
"Are you calling me a fool?", "I would if you were really here, but your just a part of the genjutsu, the real you ran away like a coward, so you're just an illusion of a coward!" Sakura said, "are you sure I'm not real!" The nin said as he threw a spiked umbrella at Sakura, she just casually walked through it with a smirk "yeah, I'm pretty sure" Sakura said mockingly
"Just what I expected from a kunoichi trained by Kakashi, but I do warn you, the chunin exams will not be an illusion" the nin said as he disappeared, "You don't scare me you coward!" Sakura said 'Well I'm really worried' Sakura thought as she sighed.
Meanwhile Sasuke had Better luck with the nin, he managed to beat the nin and made him run, " weird stupid bastard, attacking konoha nin in konoha before the exams" Sasuke said annoyed
Later that night
Kakashi was sitting on a roof when the nin appeared behind him "so how did it go?" Kakashi asked lazily, "they all made it, all nine genin did well." The nin said as he turned back into iruka, "you were right, Kakashi. They're good.", "I told you iruka, but no you didn't believe me" Kakashi said
Yeah next chapter coming next week, maybe on Sunday but no promises
