Chapter 10 THE CHUNIN EXAMS!
Hello, Sithcat here. Chunin has started and I'm still thinking hard about Sasuke leaving. I hope I'll get another update out by Wednesday or Friday. I hope you enjoy and please do review
Team 7 had been training hard in the days before the chunin exams. Team 7 had arrived at the academy in time for the chunin exams, Naruko was jumping around in excitement,
"Naruko-Chan, will you calm down? The exams haven't even started yet!" Sasuke said As he grabbed her to make her stop "Sasuke-kun let me go!" Naruko said as Sakura arrived.
"Hi Sasuke-kun" Sakura said as she waved at Sasuke, Sakura had thought long and hard about the chunin exams after her encounter with the ''ame nin''
'She seems different' Sasuke thought as he dragged Naruko by the hand into the academy "I'm not a child Sasuke-kun!" Naruko said "then stop acting like one" Sasuke said as Naruko kissed him, which made him left her go "good boy" Naruko said as they continued walking.
As the got to the classroom they saw two people blocking the way, "huh, your taking chunin exams and you can't even get past us!" One of them said as they pushed back a Green spandex wearing boy
"But this is the classroom we were told to go to!" A girl said helping up the spandex wearing boy, "step aside and let me through, and while you're at it release the genjutsu, we can see through it, we're supposed to go to the third floor " Sasuke said impatiently
"Sasuke-kun what do you mean? We are on the third floor" Naruko said confused "so you saw through it huh?" One of the two boys said "why don't you tell them Sakura, you're the best with genjutsu aren't you?" Sasuke said "oh yeah, I saw it this the second floor" Sakura said "it is?" Naruko questioned, Sakura sighed as she dispelled the genjutsu
"Very good you saw through the genjutsu, but how about this!" One of the boys said as he tried to kick Sasuke, Sasuke was about to block when the spandex boy stopped them both, 'what the hell?!' Sasuke thought, "HEY! Lee you idiot didn't gai sensei tell you to keep a low profile!?" A Hyuga boy said
Lee walked over to Sakura and said "hello, my name is rock Lee. You're Sakura right?", "huh, yeah I'm Sakura" Sakura said, "please be my girlfriend! I vow to protect with my life!" Lee said as Sakura gave him a deadpan look "definitely not, I don't even know you" Sakura said as Lee went to his team with his head down,
"Hey you, what's your name?" The Hyuga boy asked Sasuke, "why does everyone want to know Sasuke-Kuns name?!" Naruko asked enraged "I guess, I'm just more tightening then you" Sasuke said as he smirked, "as I was saying, it's common courtesy to give you're name before asking" Sasuke said as he looked at the Hyuga "you're a rookie, aren't you? How old are you anyway?" The Hyuga asked "I'm not obliged to answer" Sasuke said as he smirked,
"What's that?!" The Hyuga glared at Sasuke as Naruko standing in a corner "no one ever want's to know my name" Naruko said "come on Naruko-Chan, we're gonna be late" Sasuke said as he dragged Naruko by the hand,
'So this is the chunin exams,huh? It's a freak show' Sasuke thought, "hey you with the attitude hold on!" Lee yelled as he ran up, Sakura just palmed her face now that boy was following them, "what do you want?" Sasuke asked as he turned around, "I want to fight with you, right here and now" Lee said readied himself "you want to fight here?" Sasuke questioned His question went unanswered,
"My name is rock Lee and I assume you're uchiha Sasuke?" Lee said "so you figured out my name" Sasuke said as he sighed, he had to fight this weird spandex boy, "I've heard many people talk about the uchiha clan and how great they are, I want to see how great they are first hand, and also…" Lee said as he looked at Sakura and blushed,
To say the least, Sakura was Creeped out, something about the bigs eyes, bushy eyebrows and the blush was just wrong "…Sakura-Chan I love you" Lee said, Sakura was about to faint "Those eyebrows can't be real!" Sakura yelled, "you're an angel, you're so beautiful!" Lee said, Sakura didn't know if she should feel flattered or creeped out, Sasuke and Naruko were starting to feel uncomfortable, at first it was funny but now it was borderline creepy.
"Sasuke-kun we should probably go" Naruko said as she started to drag Sasuke away "Uchiha-san we have a fight remember" Lee said as Naruko stopped dragging Sasuke "you must be more insane then you look if you want a fight with me" Sasuke said, "bring it on!" Lee said, ' excellent I'll matchup against the number one rookie, I'll see and prepare against his techniques' Lee thought, "there's no time for this Sasuke-kun it's almost 3:00, we gotta go!" Naruko and Sakura said,
"This won't take long!" Sasuke said as he ran at Lee, as Sasuke tried to punch Lee, Lee disappeared "what?!" Sasuke said as he looked around,
"Leaf hurricane!" Lee said as he tried to kick Sasuke, he dodged the first one 'I'm not moving fast enough!' Sasuke thought as he tried to block but was kicked hard across the face "Sasuke-kun!" Naruko and Sakura both yelled as Sasuke hit the floor, "that guy is stupid fast!" Naruko said, as Sasuke got up dazed.
'What the type of ninjutsu is that?!' Sasuke thought, 'as I expected, he's getting up for more' Lee thought as he readied himself again, "alright, no more fun and games" Sasuke said as he activated his sharingan,
'So that's the sharingan huh' Lee thought, 'no way Sasuke-Kuns gonna lose' Sakura thought as Sasuke ran at Lee "Sasuke-kun careful!" Naruko warned as Lee kicked Sasuke on the jaw propelling him into the air, "you see, the reason you aren't able to copy my technique so easily is because, I'm a pure taijutsu fighter" Lee said, as he kicked a falling Sasuke into a wall.
'What the hell is this guy?!' Sasuke thought as he struggled to get to his feet, "I'm too fast for you're sharingan, plus I'm not using any chakra in my moves, so you can't see them coming uchiha-san", "there are two types of ninja, the ones like you who are born with talent, and those like me who have to work every day of their lives!" Lee said as a enraged Sasuke ran at him, again Lee kick him into the air but this time he jumped behind him
"You're done!" Lee said as the bandages around his arms began to flow, "alright Lee! That's enough!" A red turtle yelled as Lee stopped, "I got you!" Naruko said as she caught the falling Sasuke "Sasuke-kun you alright?" Naruko asked "do I alright Naruko-Chan?" Sasuke rebuffed "no? I mean did you break any bone's?" Naruko asked "I don't think so, but I can't really tell, my whole body hurts" Sasuke said, "it'll be fine" Naruko said as she kissed him on the cheek.
" you were watching the whole time?" Lee asked "of course. That last technique is forbidden. You know that Lee" the turtle said, 'he's talking to a turtle, and it's talking back…' Sakura thought, "I am sorry" Lee apologised, "Now he's apologising to the turtle" Sakura said as she facepalmed.
The turtle glared at Lee "I-I wasn't going to use it, I was in a fight and I mean, you understand!" Lee said, "shut up Lee, you think you can get away with does lame excuses? I ninja should never reveal his Trump card unless it's absolutely necessary, it's such a basic rule, you should know it by now you idiot!" The turtle said "I'm so sorry, please forgive" Lee said as he blowed,
'how could I lose to the freak?!' Sasuke thought as he tried to get up "oi, careful Sasuke-kun!" Naruko said as she helped Sasuke up "are you ready for you're punishment?" The turtle asked, "yes I'm ready" Lee said, then the turtle summoned a man wearing a jonin vest over a green spandex, the man looked almost identical to Lee, "hello everyone!" The man said as he stood on the turtle.
Team 7 gave him a deadpan look "what is going on?" Naruko asked "I don't even know at this point" Sasuke said, "hello lady's" the man said as he gave them a thumbs up, "he looks identical to Lee, the eyebrows, the hairstyle, but with everything turned up tenfold!" Naruko said as she pointed at Lee, "Hey! Do not insult guy sensei!, he's one of the greatest people in the world!" Lee yelled at Naruko, "Well I'm sorry for not seeing his greatness! I was too busy trying to figure out if I was seeing things!" Naruko yelled back, "you are not seeing things! Guy sensei is the greatest!" Lee yelled
"Give it a rest Lee" guy said, "yes guy sensei" Lee said as he turned around to look at guy, "now for you punishment!" Guy yelled as he punched Lee across the face, team 7 was in utter disbelief "this is too weird, just too weird" Sakura said as her two teammates nodded, "I'm sorry Lee, but it's for you're own good" guy said with anime tears coming out his face, as a sunset and Beach appeared behind him "g-guy sensei!", "Lee!", "guy sensei!" They said as they hugged, to say team 7 was traumatised would be an understatement.
"Nope, nope, that's enough for one day nope" Naruko said, "guy sensei I'm sorr-", "no Lee that's enough, you've grown so much as a ninja, I'm so proud of you!" Guy said as he put his hand on lee's shoulder "now I want you to give me 100 laps around the field!", "Yes,sensei!" Lee said as he ran off "Lee!,wait! You'll need to do that later, you have the chunin exams to attend" guy said as lee ran back "yes, sensei!" Lee said,
"So that's Kakashi's team, interesting' guy thought, "ah! No! He's looking at us!" Sakura yelled, "tell me, how's Kakashi?" Guy asked "you know Kakashi-sensei?" Sasuke asked "Do I know him?! He's my youthful eternal rival!" Guy said, "There's no way!" Both Naruko and Sakura yelled, "How dare you!? If Guy sensei says it's true, then-" Lee was cut off by guy " let it go, lee. A ninja's actions always speak louder then words" guy said as he disappeared and appeared behind team 7,
"I reckon it's 50 wins, and 49 losses" Guy said as he put his hand on his chin, "no way you beat sensei" Naruko replied "the fact is I used to lose against Kakashi, but after years of training I managed to start winning" Guy said with a smile that would get him into a toothpaste commercial, 'his speed is incredible, he's definitely faster than Sensei' Sasuke thought.
"You see? Guy sensei is the best there is" Lee said, "Lee would you shut up, you're sensei isn't a saint!" Naruko rebuffed "how dare you-" Lee was cut off "please just shut up!" Naruko and Sakura both yelled, "I'm sorry for the trouble lee caused you, please do accept my sincere and youthful apology" Guy apologised for Lee as he gave them a thumbs up, 'could he really be stronger then Kakashi? I'll need to ask him later' Sasuke thought as he scowled.
"Lee accompany these youthful ninja to the classroom" Guy said as he disappeared, Naruko noticed the bruises on lees hands 'he really wasn't lying when he said he only used taijutsu' Naruko thought "uchiha-san I'm sorry but I wasn't totally honest with you, I wanted test my skills but you're not really the one I wanted to test against" Lee said as Sasuke scowl deepened, "I lied to you when we fought, I wanted to test against one of my teammates his name is hyuga neji, the ninja you met before, I came here to defeat him, you were just practice" Lee said as Sasuke was about to explode in rage,
"Calm down Sasuke-kun" Naruko said as she put a hand on Sasuke's shoulder "let's go we're getting late" Sasuke said as he grabbed Naruko's hand and started walking away as Sakura followed, 'I was just practice?! He didn't even consider me as a threat?!' Sasuke was barely containing his rage, as his grip tightened on Naruko's hand "ow, you don't have to hold it that hard!" Naruko said as words were ignored.
After a little bit of walking they were at classroom 301, Sasuke finally released Naruko's hand from his death grip, "ow, my hand's so sore" Naruko complained "I'm sorry Naruko-Chan" Sasuke said as he sighed, his rage finally subsiding, " glad to see you guys are here" Kakashi said as he appeared, "huh, Kakashi sensei?" Sakura questioned, Kakashi waved "you guys can now register for the chunin exams" Kakashi said, "Kakashi sensei, do you know a man named guy? We met him and his student lee" Naruko asked, Kakashi just sighed "so you met Guy, huh? Guy is weird to say the least, but he has a heart of gold" Kakashi said,
"So Kakashi sensei what are you doing here?" Sakura asked, "I wanted see if you'd come" Kakashi answered, "what do you mean?" Sakura asked "you see, only groups of three are allowed to apply for, and take the exams. That's the way it's always been" Kakashi said "but sensei, you said it was a individual decision to take the exams" , "that's right. I did", "was that a lie?", "sort of, it's individual decision, but it affects all of you. I didn't tell you before, because I didn't want those two pressuring you, plus I didn't want you feeling obligated to participate, because of you're feelings for Sasuke. I wanted you to come to a decision of you're own free will." Kakashi said seriously,
"So if they came, but I decided not to come with them…" Sakura said, "yes, they wouldn't have been able to partake in the exams, But that's of no use now, you're all here, and for the right reasons. I'm proud of all of you" Kakashi said as he eye smiled "good luck, you guys" , "we won't let you down sensei!" Naruko replied cheerfully as they entered.
"W-what the hell is this?!" Naruko exclaimed, "you really didn't think we were the only one? Right?" Sasuke asked as he smirked "of course I didn't, I didn't think there would so many teams!" Naruko replied, 'I didn't think there would be this much competition' Sakura thought as she looked around the room,
"Sasuke-kun! Where have you been?!" Ino asked as she ran up "stay away from Sasuke-kun!" Naruko said as stepped between Ino and Sasuke, "what do you want Naruko-Baka?! Let me get to Sasuke-kun!" Ino raged, "nope, I said I wouldn't let any fangirls near him, and what do you even want with MY boyfriend?!" Naruko replied, 'she really wasn't lying when she said that' Sasuke thought, "what do you mean you're boyfriend?!" Ino asked enraged, you could see the steam coming off her, "Yeah! He's my boyfriend!" Naruko said as she kissed Sasuke,
"Was that necessary Naruko-Chan?" Sasuke asked as he blushed, "yes, that was" Naruko said as she grinned, Ino was at a loss for words, "Ino, what's going on here?" Shikamaru asked, as he and choji walked up to team 7, "Ino was trying to force herself onto my boyfriend" Naruko said as she glared at Ino, "no, I was not!" Ino yelled, " troublesome, I knew this day was going to be a drag" shikamaru said as he sighed,
"Well, well, if it wasn't the uchiha and his fangirls" kiba said mockingly , "don't dare you call Naruko-Chan a fangirl, Mutt boy" Sasuke said as he glare at him "who are you calling Mutt boy?!" Kiba asked angrily "what are you? Deaf? Aren't dogs supposed to have good hearing?" Sasuke mocked, as kiba growled, "hi, Naruko-Chan" Hinata greeted her friend, "hi, Hinata-Chan!" Naruko said as she hugged Hinata.
"Man. Everyone's here for this stupid thing, all I wanted was to sleep, but that troublesome woman wouldn't allow it" shikamaru said, "yeah, here we all are, the nine rookies, at least, for those of us good enough to make it. Right, Sasuke?" Kiba said, "I don't want to associate with you mutt boy" Sasuke said as Kiba growled, "just wait, I'll show you who's better, then all the girls will come after me!" Kiba said, "I don't care, you can have the fangirls, I'm content with Naruko-Chan" Sasuke said as he smirked,
"Hey, you guys should keep a low profile, I don't mean any offence but aren't you the rookie teams? This isn't a class Field trip" A guy with greyish white hair and a konoha head band said "how asked you?! Who even are you?!" Ino asked, "I'm yakushi kabuto, but really, look around you, you've made quite a spectacle" kabuto said, as they looked around "Sasuke-kun, maybe all that yelling wasn't a good idea" Naruko said, "you're telling me? You and Ino were the one's yelling" Sasuke replied as Naruko punched him on the shoulder "what? I didn't say Anything wrong" Sasuke said,
"Look, those guys over there" kabuto said as he pointed "ame ninja, very touchy. They all are, the exams make everyone tense and you don't want to rub them the wrong way" kabuto said, 'this is not gonna be fun' Naruko thought, "you remind me of myself back then" kabuto said as he got a nostalgic look in his eyes, "kabuto's your name right? This isn't you're first time taking the exams" Sakura asked, "no, it's really quite embarrassing, this is my seventh time" kabuto said as he sheepishly rubbed the back of his head, team 7 wasn't thrusting him at all, "this guys shady, I can't put my finger on it but something's off" Sasuke whispered as Sakura and Naruko nodded, "you're right, Something feels off" Naruko fully agreed with Sasuke, something was off about this kabuto,
" The held twice a year, so this is my fourth year" kabuto said, "wow, you're a veteran. You must know everything about the exams by now" Ino said "yeah sort of", "yeah, some expert. He's never passed" Sasuke said, he was really not thrusting this guy, "well, seventh time's the charm. That's what they say, huh? Kabuto said, "so I guess all those rumours about the exams are true then, huh, troublesome" shikamaru half said, half sighed, "Don't give up hope yet. Maybe I can help you kids out a little. With my info cards" kabuto said as he smirked, Sasuke wasn't an idiot but he didn't see why anyone would help someone in the exams? Didn't it mean more competition?
"What the hell are those?" Sakura asked confused, "it's hard to explain, they're chakra encoded with everything i've learned over the past years. I've got more then 200 of them, so you see, I haven't been completely wasting time. They might not look like much to the naked eye, In fact, they appear blank" kabuto said as he pumped his chakra through one card, after a bit the card showed a map on it's blank surface "wow, that's really cool!" Naruko said, "what type of map is that?" Ino asked, kabuto smirked "it shows from which village candidates have come for the exams, and how many of each candidates come from what village, why do you think all those people come at the same time?" kabuto asked but he got blank stares,
Kabuto sighed "it's to foster friendship between villages, of course. International cooperation and all that, and it's true enough as far as it goes." Kabuto said "but there's another reason, you see, the important thing is that this way, they can carefully regulate the total number of shinobi in each village, thereby maintaining the balance of power." Kabuto said as he adjusted his glasses, "oh, yeah, balance of power, huh" Naruko said, "Balance of power. Big deal, it's all troublesome" shikamaru said, "if the balance of power isn't maintained, one village might overwhelm another, that's why they maintain the status quo, makes sense, I suppose." Kabuto answered,
Sasuke was getting curious about those cards, "do those cards contain information about individual candidates?" Sasuke asked as he narrowed his eyes, "they might, you have anyone special in you're mind?" Kabuto asked, "his name is Garaa, A nin from suna and rock Lee from team guy" Sasuke said, "I can't promise my information is complete or perfect, but I might have something About them" Kabuto said as he shuffled through his cards, 'I have no idea what Sasuke-kun is doing, but I'll act like I know' Naruko thought as she nodded.
"Here they are" kabuto said as he pulled out two cards, "show them to me" Sasuke said his Curiosity Peaked, kabuto ran his chakra through one of the cards, writing appeared and a photo of rock Lee and his team, "it says, he's about one year older then you guys, mission experience, 11 C-ranks and 20 D-ranks. His sensei is might guy, his stats in taijutsu are through the roof, but ninjutsu and genjutsu are pretty shaky. This is his and his teams first time in the chunin exams, his teammates are tenten and Hyuga neji" kabuto said, "wait, neji? Isn't that you're cousin, Hinata-Chan?" Naruko asked as Hinata nodded, "he doesn't like me at all" Hinata said sadly.
"And now for Garaa" kabuto said as he ran his chakra through the other card, "name: garaa, Mission experience: 8 C-ranks and get this 1 B-rank as a genin, that's about all that I know about this guy" kabuto said, "so what if he did 1 B-rank? We di-" Naruko was cut off as Sasuke put his hand over her mouth "shh, Don't say that out loud Naruko-Chan" Sasuke said, he knew exactly what she was gonna say, Sasuke released Naruko as she punched him on the head, "don't you ever do that again!" Naruko said, as Sasuke rubbed his head,
"Every village has sent exceptionally skilled genin this time, I wouldn't be too loud if I were you" kabuto said, "you think it's going to be tougher this time, kabuto-san?" Hinata asked, "ohh yeah, in the 4 years I've been coming I've never seen a crop of candidates with as much potential as this bunch" kabuto said, Kakashi was listening to what the genin were doing, hear kabuto's words put a little bit of worry in Kakashi's mind, 'I wish I was as sure as I sounded back then. I wonder what they're thinking' Kakashi thought as he sighed, 'alright, not good, must of these guys are older and more experienced. No big deal, it's ok to be a little scared' Sakura thought sweating profusely, "it's alright Sakura-Chan, We'll get through this" Naruko said, but her words only eased Sakura a little.
'Alright, great, just great, that garaa kid has almost nothing known about him, and Lee is much stronger then he lets on. I'll have to train a lot more' Sasuke thought as he carefully analysed the room of genin, 'I wonder if Sasuke-kuns worried, I can't tell much from his face, guy can't smile half the time, the only thing I ever see on his face is that stupid scowl' Naruko thought as she looked at Sasuke.
"ALRIGHT YOU DEGENERATES! SIT DOWN AND GET READY!" A man with a scar running down his face yelled, "it's time to begin, I'm marino ibiki, your proctor for the first exam" ibiki said as he appeared with a bunch of other proctors, "start handing over you're forms, We'll give you numbers, these numbers will show were you'll sit, we'll start the written portion of this exam once you're all seated" ibiki said, "the what? What written portion?!" Naruko asked as her face drained of all colour "yes Naruko-Chan, written portion, you'll have to answer questions on various topics" Sasuke said as he patted her on the head.
After they all were seated they were handed there paperwork, Naruko Groaned 'I don't even know were Sasuke-kun and the others are sitting, at least I have Hinata-Chan sitting next to me' Naruko thought as she pulled her long hair in frustration, 'tough luck for Naruko. Written exams aren't her strong point' Sakura thought, she was seated behind Naruko, she looked at her paper, she knew most of the answers so it was easy for her. "Good luck Naruko-Chan, I hope you'll do well" Hinata wished her friend, "thanks Hinata-Chan, I'll need it" Naruko said, she was not happy about the written test, she sighed as she banged her head on the table.
"Alright everyone! There are a few rules you need to know, and I won't answer questions. So you better pay attention! Rule 1: you will begin the test with a perfect score of 10, one point will be deducted for each wrong answer." Ibiki said, 'so if I miss 10, my score will be zero, huh. I'm so dead" Naruko thought as she continued pulling her hair, "rule number 2: teams will pass or fail based on the total scores of all members" ibiki continued, as Sakura banged her head on the table 'we are gonna fail because of Naruko aren't we?' Sakura thought as she lost all hope, 'Naruko-Chan is gonna get all the questions wrong no doubt' Sasuke thought, he really pitied his girlfriend's luck.
"Rule number 3: the other proctors you see positioned around the room are there to watch you carefully for any signs of cheating, and for every time you get caught they will subtract two points from you're score, so be warned" ibiki said with a sadistic smile as he saw many of the genin pale, 'alright Sakura calm down, I know I'll do fine and Sasuke should be fine but…' Sakura thought as she looked over to Naruko, she wanted to bash her head on the table again but she knew it was of no use. "Oh, and one more thing, if a genin get's 0 points, then the entire team fails, you could hear three people slam they're head on the table, "no way! No way that's fair!" Sakura yelled, "silence! I have my reasons and I have no obligation to explain them to you!" Ibiki yelled, 'they're gonna kill me! Both of them are gonna kill me!' Naruko thought as she paled, she knew she would fail, if Sasuke didn't kill her, Sakura most definitely would.
"The final question won't be given out until 15 minutes before the end of this part of the exams, you'll have one hour total." Ibiki said as the genin started writing, "alright Sakura this is you're strong suit, you'll get this right, Naruko please get at least one question right' Sakura thought as she sighed and began to write, 'this is not good, she's just sitting there.' Sasuke thought as he looked at Naruko, he was praying she managed to get at least one or two of them right. 'Alright, relax take you're time, you've got one hour, let me just read through the questions and find the one's I have a chance at answering' Naruko thought as she began reading, as she continued reading you could see the colour disappearing from her face with each question she read.
'These are incredibly complex questions! Naruko doesn't have a Chance to answer any question. In fact there are only maybe a hand full of people here who could answer these, besides me' Sakura thought, she had lost all hope of passing this exam, but she still continued writing, hoping some how Naruko would pull through, Naruko had finished reading the paper 'I understand that I…understood absolutely nothing, not a Single question made any sense' Naruko thought as she pulled her hair, meanwhile Sasuke was having the same problem as her, 'I can't begin to understand a single one of these questions' Sasuke thought, he couldn't help but smirk knowing Naruko was having the same problem, 'it's almost like they're tempting us to cheat. Hopefully Naruko and Sasuke-kun wouldn't fall for it' Sakura thought,
"hmm, they're making a bigger fuss about cheating then the actual test, and why only a 2 point deduction? It doesn't make any sense, normally if you're caught cheating once that grounds for dismissal right there…' Sasuke thought as it hit him, it was all making sense now, the hard questions, only 2 point deduction for cheating, 'so that's it, they want us to cheat without getting seen, it has to be that. It isn't about our knowledge, it's about gathering information. At least I hope so' Sasuke thought, he was just hoping Naruko and Sakura figured it out, 'what do I do!? I don't know a single answer! Wait should I cheat?" Naruko thought as she panicked, but one Stern look from ibiki made here think twice, 'what was I thinking?! There's no way I'll be able to cheat! I'm doomed!" Naruko thought, at this point she had already pulled out some of her hair in frustration, "Naruko-Chan, if you want I could show you my test" Hinata whispered to Naruko, Naruko was considering it,
It was a tempting offer, but as Naruko leaned in to see Hinata's paper a kunai flew by her face as it another genin's paper, 'h-how did they know?! I didn't even do anything!' Naruko thought, if she wasn't panicking before, she was now, as the genin got up "what was that about?!" The genin asked confused, "you got caught five times buddy, you're out" a proctor with a piece of white cloth rapped above his nose said, "what?! How?!" The genin asked, "you and you're team are out, so leave immediately" the procter said, as the genin got up and left, and the other proctors started listing off all the genin who had failed, some left peaceful and some had to dragged out, "h-Hinata-Chan, i don't think it's a good idea" Naruko said, fear prevalent in her voice, Hinata just nodded.
Meanwhile, Sakura and Sasuke were having better luck, one was able to do it because she was smart, and the other was using the sharingan to Mimic the hand movements of others. Sakura's body was suddenly taken over by the mind transfer jutsu of the yamanaka, Ino had tried to take over Sakura's body, keyword being tried, she had rudely been punched out by inner Sakura (alright Sithcat here, I'll quickly explain myself, I didn't write inner Sakura in the other chapters cuz it's annoying to go "ohh look at the stupid Naruko-Baka kissing Sasuke-kun!" So yeah sorry for the interruption, bye!) but Ino was able to see some of the answers, more of the candidates were getting called out.
'Only 20 minutes left, and I haven't done anything, I'm so busted, unless… there's another question they'll give us in 5 minutes, I'll have to pray to kami, I can answer that one' Naruko thought, she was banking on that last question,
5 minutes later…
'15 minutes to go. Time for the main event' ibiki thought as he smirked, he was enjoying himself a little to much, but nonetheless. "Alright, listen up! Here's the 10th and final question!" Ibiki said in a commanding voice, everyone in the room tensed. They all were curious and anxious about the last question, 'alright, All depends on this one!' Naruko thought, she was worried she might not be able to answer it, but she had to believe in herself.
'Naruko-Chan don't mess this up, you got this' Sasuke thought, he knew she didn't write anything in the paper, he prayed she'd get this one, 'Naruko please for the love of kami, don't mess this up' Sakura thought, she had fully completed her test, it was hard but she managed, now she hoped Naruko would pull through.
"But before I give you the question, there are some more rules that you need to know." Ibiki said, he smirked as he so many genin get more nervous, but oddly one genin from suna was calm, way to calm. The boy was completely emotionless, but nonetheless he continued, "these rules are unique to the 10th question, listen carefully and try not to let them frighten you." Ibiki said, Naruko was sweating bullets, he hadn't even said the rules yet and she was getting nervous.
In the village…
Kakashi was sitting with asuma and kurenai "it's so quiet without the rookies, I almost miss them" Kakashi said enjoying the Peace and quiet, he didn't much of that thanks to Naruko and Sakura, Sasuke was quiet or just talked with Naruko, "I don't, Ino is just so annoying, just Sasuke-kun, Sasuke-kun 24/7. So I'd just enjoy the calm before the storm. Chances are they'll be back sooner then you think" asuma said, he tried to put a cigarette in his month, but kurenai's glare made him think twice, "why's that?" Kakashi asked confused, he really didn't know what asuma was going on about, "I heard that their first proctor this year is ibiki" asuma said as he sighed, 'so, already their chances of passing are low. Great, sticking them with that sadist right off the bat' Kakashi thought as he sighed in dismay.
Back in the class room
"Rule number 1: each of you is free to choose not to take the final question, it's you decision" Ibiki said as he looked around the room, he loved playing with the minds of these children, 'say what? We're free to choose? But at what cost?' Sasuke thought, "whoa. So what's the catch!? Let's say we choose not to take it. What then?!" Temari yelled, this ibi guy was starting to get on her nerves. "If you choose not to take it, regardless of your answers to the questions, you'll get a 0, in other words, you and you're teammates fail." Ibiki said, a twisted smile on his face. Many of the genin were reasonably angry. "Not so fast. You didn't let me finish, if you do take the question but the answer is incorrect, you will not only fail, you'll be barred from taking the chunin exams ever again!" Ibiki yelled, as the room was Filled with yelling,
"What do mean!? There are lot's of people here who've taken the exams before!" Kiba yelled, as akamaru barked, ibiki just started laughing, a twisted, wicked laugh "I guess you're just unlucky. I wasn't making the rules before, but I am now. but of course, if you don't want to take it, you don't have to." Ibiki said as he glared at Kiba, his twisted smile never leaving his face. To say Kiba was shocked was an understatement, "if you're not feeling confident, then by all means, skip it. You can come back and try again next year." Ibiki finished as he chuckled, 'great. just what we needed, A question if you don't take it, come back next time. But if you do take it but fail, that's it you're done' Sakura thought, she did not like this at all.
"Those who want to leave, do so now!" Ibiki said as Some of the genin had started to leave out of fear, but all Naruko could feel was anger, 'what do I do?! What do you want me to do?! If it's easy then good, but what if it's not?! I can't leave! What about the others I can't do that to them!' Naruko thought, her mind going a thousand miles per second, 'i'm in, but what about Naruko? She doesn't have a chance. Go on, Naruko, put your hand up, it's ok. Don't worry about us. There's always next year. Just think of yourself' Sakura thought, she didn't know if Naruko would give up, Naruko was still deep in thought.
The pressure was getting to the genin as more and more of them got up, the pressure was getting to Naruko, she was too stubborn to give up but if she fail her dream of becoming hokage would end right then and there, she was going to raise up her hand, Sakura, Sasuke and Hinata saw what she was doing, they understood her reasons, but then she slammed her hand on the table "You don't scare me! I don't quit and I don't run! You can act tough all you want. You guys aren't gonna scare me off! I'll be hokage one day, dattebayo!" Naruko yelled, she wasn't going to get scared by this guy, and most importantly she wasn't giving up.
'You can really be dumb Naruko-Chan, but that's what I like about you, your determination. Don't ever change' Sasuke thought as he smiled, he truly did like her but he had a hard time expressing himself. 'Way to go, you crazy Baka. Way to go' Sakura thought, she did find Naruko annoying but her stubbornness was something else, "be mindful of you Choice, this could change your life for ever, so this is your last chance" Ibiki said, "no way, I never go back on my word. That's my nindo" Naruko said as she grinned, ' remarkable, that little outburst has given the other cowards some backbone, she's inspired them into staying, 78 left more then I expected.' Ibiki thought, the kid had some guts, he had to give her that, "well,then, I admire your determination, if nothing else. For those of you remaining there's only thing left to do. And that's for me to tell you that you've all…passed the first exam" Ibiki said as he looked at the dumbfounded genin.
"Wait! What just happened?! What do you mean we passed?! Where's the last question!?" Sakura asked dumbfounded, all ibiki could do was laugh, "there never was one. Not a written one, at least. Actually your decision to stay was the answer to the 10th question." Ibiki said as Naruko slammed her head on the table, 'all that! All that work! The stress and The nervousness for nothing!' Naruko thought, all of that mental tension for not, "so the nine other questions were just a waste of time!? Is that what you're saying?!" Temari asked, infuriated that her time was wasted like this, "no, no, not at all, they all had a purpose, to test your ability to surreptitiously gather information under high pressure situations. You see my job as not only to test you as individuals, but as a team, and on how well you function as a part of that team. That's why the test was scored on a team basis, so you'd know that everything you did, or failed to do, would directly affect your teammates, I wanted to see how you'd handle the pressure." Ibiki explained as the genin nodded,
"As you may have realised, the test was designed for you to cheat, because the questions were to hard for any genin to solve. Of course you needed someone to cheat off of, so I stationed two chunin who already had the answers" ibiki said as said chunin raised their hands, 'the answers were right in front of me?!' Naruko thought as she saw one of the chunin seated in front of her, "of course I knew we had to cheat, I mean who didn't? Right Hinata-Chan?" Naruko said as she sheepishly rubbed her head, Sasuke sweat dropped 'so the whole time she didn't know we were meant to cheat.' Sasuke thought as he looked at Naruko, "those who got cheat failed, better not to cheat then to cheat clumsily. There will be times, were you have to put your life on the line for information" Ibiki as he removed his forehead protector, which covered his head to show many of his scars, all the genin where stunned to see so many scars, "man, what a mess, scars and puncture wounds, burn marks, and more" Sasuke said, he was stunned to see so many signs of torture on one man.
Naruko, Hinata and Sakura were horrified to see the many scars and marks on ibikis head, 'how can do something like that?!' Naruko thought as she gulped, "of course, you must always consider the source of your information. Intel gathered from an enemy is not necessarily accurate. Always bear this in mind. Disinformation can or will be worse then no information at all. It can lead to deaths or loss of a village. That's why I put you in the position where you had to gather accurate information. Cheat in order to pass. And that's why the ones who weren't good enough were weeded out, leaving the rest of you." Ibiki said as he put on his forehead protector, "A chunin is expected to lead teams, you will face life or death missions, but you can't just leave them. Suicidal or not you'll have to succeed. You have to put the live of you comrades above yours, only cowards think for themselves only, putting the lives of everyone in jeopardy. As long as I'm alive, I will not let cowards become chunin. So the rest of you have earned the right to continue on to the next step. I wish you the best of luck" ibiki said as a women jumped into the classroom, not opening the window no, but jumping right through it.
'Ah, anko jumped the gun again' ibiki thought as he sighed, "alright, no time to celebrate! I'll be your next proctor, mitarashi anko!." Anko yelled as all eyes were on her, 'what the hell? Who jumps through a window like that?!' Naruko thought puzzled, anko was starting to wonder why no one was getting up, "anko you're early" Ibiki said as he gave anko an amused to look, 'great, more yelling just what I needed' Sasuke thought sarcastically, "how many are there? Don't tell me your going soft ibiki" anko said, as she looked around the room, "or it could be a stronger crop of genin this year." Ibiki said as he glared at anko, "hmm. They sure don't look it. Trust me, before I'm done with them, more then half will be gone" anko said as she grinned, 'more then half? Really?' Sakura thought, "alright, you've had it easy enough, but that's gonna change with me! You'll come to training ground 44 first thing tomorrow, you'll need to there before 8am!" Anko said as she disappeared. "Alright, you heard her! Your all dismissed!" Ibiki commanded, as the genin left
Later…
"Sasuke-kun come on! We have some free time, why don't we go and do something, all your doing is reading!" Naruko exclaimed, Sasuke in fact had a book about the sharingan open, "let me read in peace Naruko-Chan" Sasuke said as Naruko pulled on his arm, "come on! Stupid teme-kun! Even a simple walk with me is enough!" Naruko said as she continued to pull on Sasuke, "you're not gonna let me go until I agree, are you?" Sasuke asked but he already knew the answer "No I'm not. now come on you have all day to read" Naruko answered as she continued to pull.
"Fine, I'll go on a walk with you" Sasuke said as he closed his book and sighed, "finally, teme-kun you should really enjoy yourself more often" Naruko said as she kissed him on the cheek, "your always so annoying" Sasuke said as they walked out of the uchiha clan library "I'm not!" Naruko said as she puffed out her cheeks, "your so adorable when you do that" Sasuke said as he wrapped his arm around her weist, "are you trying to falter me?" Naruko asked as she wrapped her arm around him, "maybe I am" Sasuke said as he kissed her cheek. Maybe he'd enjoy himself a little, just maybe…
