Shit happened. I got busy. Read bitch, it's good for your health
No one's POV
Minerva McGonagle was never one to bite her tongue.
Not when she heard about Siri-Blacks incarceration, not when Albus dropped poor little Harry off with those spoiled muggles, and certainly not now.
Sitting at Dumbledore's right at the table where they were discussing how to fix the "Sirius" problem.
Was this actually happened? She thought as Albus and Alastor discussed the best way to, what was their exact words? Get Rid Of Them
"You can actually be serious Albus, we're talking about poisoning two people on purpose!" She interjected, glaring at the two men.
Moody's eye was swirling, an interesting new development as a result of his latest case.
"Minerva, you must put aside your own moral dilemmas and see reason! These men have kidnapped an innocent child! Attacked aurors! One of them has escaped AZKABAN for Merlin's sake!" Dumbledore said mildly, like they were discussing the weather and not premeditated homicide.
"But Albus, we have laws! Regulations! We can simply, KILL them!" She argued, fists clenched white under the table.
To think, these boys were my students, why my own lions, and they did all this...
"And sometimes those regulations need to be bypassed for the greater good."
And this man was their teacher? Minnie thought, trying hard not to scoff.
How many lives had been lost because of his "greater good"? Lily, James, the McKinnon's, the Prewet's and many more.
Was this truly the way?
"Think of this from a moral perspective Albus please-"
"Minerva enough! This is not up for discussion! These-criminals need to be dealt with, tonight!"
She stiffened, he was doing it again, talking to her as if she were a meddlesome little girl in class.
Well she wasn't, and no one, especially this man, would silence her.
"How do we even know he's guilty! The wouldn't let Black take veritaserum or check his memories! And even if he is guilty, we can just shoot the both in the street like dogs! Remus hadn't even committed a crime! He could be under the Imperio for all we know!"
She ranted passionately.
"ENOUGH!" Dumbledore shouted, sending the room into silence.
"Please leave Minerva, your services are no longer required." He ordered coldly, looking through her.
"But-"
"Now."
And that was then end of that
Minnie's POV
I passed my office after I left, fuming.
How could this be happening! This was not the Albus she knew, when had he thrown out his moral compass?!
Or had he never had one. I shivered and the memories of his probing legilimens poked at her mind.
As powerful as he is, it was still not okay to do that I knew.
How long had I been blind to his coldness, his ruthlessness?
Had a been a pawn On his massive chess board?
No longer.
Quick, I stood. This ended now.
Before I knew where my feet were carrying me, I was in front of his office.
"Lollipops" I muttered coldly, how ironic for a man anything but sweet.
I climbed the stairs case and knocked, no answer.
Now to options stood in my way.
1. I could come back and speck to him in the morning.
2. I could...break in.
Yes, obviously I choose the second option.
Opening the door, I found the room empty, the only light coming from the pensive sitting on his desk.
It would be wrong to, look through his memories. I thought, biting my lip.
Then again, it's also wrong to plot murder.
I steeled my resolve. It was now or never.
I lunged into the memory.
The memory swirled into existence abound me as I took in the scene.
She appeared to be in a muggle living room, impeccably clean and furnished in lifeless shiny decorum.
"Professor, we can't keep him."
Minerva didn't recognize the tall, horse-like women, but she did recognize the small bundle of blankets in her arms.
So this must be petunia? And she didn't want Harry?
By the looks of it, this memory had been a few years ago, perhaps she changed her mind.
"He's a nuisance, already showing freakish- magical behavior. I won't have it in my house!"
Minnie flinched back as if slapped, this couldn't be the women responsible for raising little Harry! Harry Potter couldn't live here!
"I'm afraid there's not much of a choose, Ms. Evans." Dumbledore responded calmly, his tone far to at home for this conversation.
"Ms. Dursley now, my husband and I married about a year before my son was born." Petunia replied stiffly, glaring back down at the small bundle in her arms.
"Ms. Dursley then, it is imperative that he stays with you, no matter the circumstances. It is for the greater good of our world."
Petunia scoffed. "Your world, my sisters world, not mine! Another reason we don't want him! We don't want all this witchy nonsense around my son!" She screeched.
Minerva couldn't believe her ears, how dare this women speck about lily that way? I left her seething.
Dumbledore shook his head as if this little chat wasn't going his way and sighed.
"I was afraid I would have to do this." He hummed mildly, drawing his wand from his robes.
Minerva gasped as he pointed it at petunia.
"You WILL keep Harry in your care, whatever care you see fit, and that is final!" If Minerva looked hard enough, she could just see a hint of a smile, the same twinkle he was so famous for.
I made her sick.
Petunia looked sick to, leaning back in her chair, skin pale, subconscious pulling Harry a bit closer to her chest.
"You-you can't just threaten me me in my own home!" She shrilled, eyes never leaving his wand.
Dumbledore was freely smiling now, as if this was all very amusing before he spoke.
"Oh, but I can. You see, it is vital for Harry to stay with you if my plans are to work. And no one will stand in the way of that, do you understand?"
Petunia very slowly nodded, eyes wide in fear.
"Right then, if we're all in agreement, I'll take my leave now." Dumbledore clapped in a sickeningly cheerful way, getting to his feet.
" Anything else before I'm gone, ma'am?" he asked as he reached for the door.
"We will never love him." She finally stated, a look that gave no hint of guilt or shade on her face.
Dumbledore smiled once again. "So be it."
And with that, the memory shifted.
The next memory took place in a much shabbier living room, the walls lined with smile faded photographs and dust bookshelves.
Minerva jumped as a familiar voice filled the room.
"Can I just, see him, professor?" Asked Remus Lupin, looking scared and tired as if it were the day after the full moon.
He sat in a chair across from the headmaster, eyes weary and desperate.
"I'm afraid not Remus, visiting Harry at the moment would be unsafe."
Minerva winced as Remus's face feel, sadness tearing at her heart.
He had tried to visit him. To perhaps save him from those horrible relatives! And Dumbledore was preventing him!
"You have to under stand that in these circumstances-"
"It's because of my condition?" Remus's face grew even more crestfallen, the look of shear guilt crushing Minerva.
"Any partly old friend, there are still many death eaters on the loose, any break in the wards protecting Harry could put-"
"I understand." Remus interrupted quietly, slumped a bit in his chair.
Dumbledore looked sympathetic, a clear façade as Minerva watched his eyes twinkle.
"I knew you would Remus." He hummed, before the memory shifted once more
The final memory appeared to take place in a dark dank cell. Minerva knew this must be Sirius's cell at Azkaban.
"Evening Sirius." Dumbledore greeted slyly, making the man in question jump.
Eminently, Sirius rose, walking up the the cell bars ad he talked a mile a minute.
"Professor! Thank goodness your here! Please sir you have to believe me! I'm INNOCENT! It was Peter Pettegrew! I swear! Please believe me sir!"
Dumbledore raise his had and Sirius fell silent ( whether that be of his own will of dumbledore's) and the old man spoke.
"I know."
The words dropped like bombs to Minerva. This-this couldn't be! He couldn't-Dumbledore wouldn't-
"Oh thank merlin! Have you come to get me!" Sirius cheered with glee, shoulders sagging with relief.
Minerva felt nauseous, knowing what must have happened next.
Dumbledore smiled, a dark, sinister smile the made Sirius falter slightly.
"No actually, Sirius. The public still think you very guilty and I plan to keep it that way. I'm only here to fix one small problem for myself."
Sirius's eyes widened in anger and horror.
"Wha- but you believe me! You know I'm not guilty! WHAT THE FUCK are you doing?!" He yelled, throwing himself against the bars of his cage.
"Now now Sirius, no need for foul language. This is simply how things need to play out for my plan to work. Don't worry, you'll leave this place one day, a decade of two down the line."
Sirius screamed profanity at him, banging himself ageist the bars harder in order to try and reach him, but to no avail.
The old headmaster only grinned, retrieving his wand from his robes and pointing it at Sirius.
The man eminently when limp, his eyes unfocused, almost sleep like.
"Of course, it's can have you blabbing this to anyone, that could also ruin my plain. So, I just need to do this one little spell, obliviate you, and I'll be on my way."
Tapping his wand lightly agent's Sirius's temple, he preformed a small charm of his own invention.
It was a bit like imperio, only easier and effort. It essentially made the person do one thing, rather effective for someone like the great Albus Dumbledore.
"You will not escape this cell until a newspaper arrives here inspiring you too."
Then, he obliviated Sirius and went on his way.
No one ever suspecting a thing.
Minerva wrenched herself from the pensive, promptly getting sick all over the floor.
She was absolutely disgusted, tears filling her eye.
How could she let this happen?!
How she had failed them.
But never again.
Quickly, Minerva spelled away the sick and hurried from the room, making absolutely sure there was no trace of her ever being there.
She ran, yes ran to her office, ignoring misses Noris and a grumpy filch in her rush.
Once sadly back inside her own quarters, she took a second to breath.
What should she do?
First, she had to worn them.
Quickly pulling out her wand, she cast a patronas, a silvery cat prancing above the air in front of her.
"Dear Remus and Sirius,
I will keep this message short because there isn't much time.
Dumbledore and the aurors plan on pumping poison potion gas into your hiding place tonight. You must leave eminently if you haven't already.
I have a small cottage in northern Ireland if you need a place to hide. It is completely warded and had the Fidelius already in place.
It is the chaplain house in Belfast.
I know that you are innocent and have just discovered the abuse Harry suffered, I would like to help.
Sincerely, Minerva McGonagall.
With that sent, there was really only one thing to do.
Get the others to help.
Thank you for reading, I don't own these characters, just the plot.
Hope you enjoyed!
