Holding Hands in the Library

I had this scene appear while answering "OTP Questions RubyMaru" and really want to share it! So I expanded on it a little and voila~

Hanamaru was reading a book in the library as she carried out her librarian role. She also purposefully left one hand on the table as she read her book with the other.
Usually, she would be entirely absorbed in her book.
However, she could not help but lower her book ever so slightly and inconspicuously, to peek over at her girlfriend staring intently at her hand, edging close, closer, then back as Ruby worried her bottom lip.
"Ah…I wanna hold Maru-chan's hand… Courage..! Please fill me!" Ruby mutters under her breath as her eyebrows furrowed in determination and she moves her hand closer and closer to Hanamaru's.
Maru smiles, hiding her blush behind her book at how endearing Ruby is when doing her best.
Ruby-chan is so cute, zura…~
"There's no one here now so..! Ei!" Ruby's fingertips touch Hanamaru's. And as Ruby's cheeks turn the colour of her hair and before her courage diminishes, she slides her hand over Hanamaru's and beams. I did it!
Ruby-chan did it..! She's holding my hand. Ahhh, her hand is so soft and petite, zuraaaa..!
Hanamaru melts within from Ruby's cuteness but manages a shy smile outside. "Mm?"
"Ah! I'm s-sorry Maru-chan. I didn't mean to distract you from your reading! I just…I just wanted to hold…your hand… Is that…okay?" Ruby looks up at Hanamaru with large pleading eyes.
There will never be a day where I can properly and easily say no to Ruby-chan. Not with those eyes.
Hanamaru turns her hand around so that Ruby's hand was in hers and she gives Ruby's hand a squeeze. "Of course, zura."
I love it when we hold hands~
"Next time, you can just take my hand instead of having to dance your hand on the table, zura. It was cute though, zura." Hanamru grins at Ruby who let's out a surprised "pigii!"
"You saw..?" Ruby says quietly.
"Mmph~ I could not help but notice…you…zura…" Hanamaru raises her book over her blushing face again.
Zura! It's embarrassing to admit out loud..!
However, when Ruby raises her head to smile so brightly at Hanamaru, she felt it was worth all the blushes to get to see Ruby's smile. Hanamaru tightens her grip in Ruby's and they gazed at each other for the rest of Library duty.

The library has such a lovely ambience of quiet and racing hearts, cooling air and heated cheeks. Do you agree? Hehehe~ ^w^
